I have had a Kinetico water softener since 1991 and finally decided to buy one instead of renting…read moreit a couple years ago. Owens installed the unit and never came back to check their work or set any of the settings. My tenant was not using any salt and I asked the receptionist many times do you think something is wrong and she said not these units are very efficient. Like not even 6 bags in 2 years. The new manager actually suggested my tenant was buying salt behind my back, and that didn't make sense since I am paying to have it delivered. Anyway they finally sent out a technician who said we needed a new pressure tank, which I had installed. The bill was over 250. Just for them to tell me I needed a pressure tank and replace some parts they should have replaced back when it was first installed and was not using salt. The water is hard and when there is no softener, I have to replace all my plumbing fixtures and this has cost me a bundle. So at this point I would never use them again and will have the machine serviced by their competitor. The first rented unit worked for 25 years without a hitch, so I wonder if they installed a used machine that was faulty, why else would it need all this work after only a couple of years? Run, don't walk away from this horrible company. The technician even lied and said my tenant refused the salt delivery when in fact he refused to carry the bags up the driveway due to snow.
