Stopped my the social media famous Dodi Auto Sales during a recent visit to Monterey. It was fun to see the lot in person and get up close and personal with the vehicles themselves. Ali wasn't on site, but saw his dad and a bit later a female (didnt get her name or relation) who was very pleasant and also quite knowledgeable about Porsches. I'm always hesitant at buying a used car, and working with salespeople who are inherently better negotiators than me. This was a surprisingly easy and pleasant experience. Ali listened really well, did not apply pressure, responded very quickly throughout AND after the transaction, and honored the originally agreed Out-The-Door price even when tax/licensing calculation had bumped it slightly over. Which is exactly the opposite of what many used car salespeople would do. They even tracked down the extra key from the prior owner, and sent to me at no charge later. Bought a 73 Beetle from these guys a year ago. He said it was rebuilt, odometer had 24,349 on it and pain was solid but obviously a 50 year old car had its paint issues. Started it with a few heavy pumps of the throttle and drove fine, but it was bogging for a mile on the highway after hitting 55 and then stalled on a hill . Luckily he saw me on the highway in the pitch dark. Helped me start it because the battery was relocated to the beach seat and got it to a gas station, but he told me that I should take it to a mechanic. I said "no I want my money back" and he said "let's talk in the morning." I had to spend extra to stay another night, lame... So morning comes and he shows up about ten to the gas station where we left the car. The passenger door lock got stuck and the key snapped so that was a good morning start. I tell him "it's final dude I'm going home with my money". We showed up to the shop and I got my $3250 (-$250 for the snapped key.) was such an insane hassle, so lucky I got my money back or I would've been screwed... read more

I drove from La to buy a 2001 plymouth prowler, I spoke Dodi,s son on the phone before I left and he gave me a complete comprehensive and honest valuation of the car , I must have called him 4 or 5 times with more questions and each time he gave me all the time I needed and was so polite, when I arrived I met Dodi and his son and it so nice to see a family run store with such a nice vibe with no pressure what so ever, the Prowler was just as described , they helped me take my rental car to the rental agency , I drove all the way back to la with no problem , it was a very pleasurable and easy experience , I would certainly recommend them to anybody who want to buy a car from these guys. read more

First off.. the review with 5 stars is fake. You can tell since that person is on yelp but has only reviewed one business... ever... yeah... and now let me tell you why its fake. We can start at the beginning.... Saw the 1969 Camaro RS/SS on their lot the day they got it. I wanted it. So I went in and test drove it. There were NO brakes at all on it. I voiced this concern. Went back again to start working on getting the car, couldn't take my girlfriend for a test drive since the breaks still weren't done. We went back again after they stated the breaks were done. Guess what, they were worked on but still horrible. But we started the paperwork. My girlfriend got a great loan with USAA who this place said they are used to dealing with. Nope. We had so many problems with them actually faxing over the right paperwork and filling it out that I had to actually fill out the title info even though on the sheet USAA sent to them in BOLD LETTERS said exactly what the dealer was to do, right next to the fax number that they were able to see just fine to get their money. So guess what, couldn't get the car that day. So I went back to clear up the paperwork, had to take more time off work since loan department do close, and part of the paperwork we needed, they didn't even have there anymore because the other guy took it with him when he left the night before. Long story short, we had to call USAA and this place 9 times to finally have the paperwork done correct. Still got charged the dealer fee even though they did nothing. Now lets get to the car... So the breaks. They finally replaced the master cylinder after all the issues with them knowing how to get paperwork done properly. I was told over and over again and have the texts to even prove it since I asked that there was NO FRAME DAMAGE and the engine is in good condition. Well, I took it to the pros who specialize on these cars (since I wasn't allowed to take it to have it inspected prior). Lets start with the breaks, they said they replaced the hose lines for the break, NOPE!!! They are old and rotted. So thats lie number one. Next, cheapest master cylinder you can put on a car. Thanks guys. Now the frame... yep, its been bent before and straightened back out. HUGE LIE right there, I have the texts to prove they said no damage. Now the engine.... get ready... No choke. (I had one put on) Alternator is not even with fan so belt is stressed. (I am getting this fixed) Gears are worn out. Oil leaks. Fule pump will stay on after you turn off the engine if you don't turn it off a certain way. MISSING ENGINE BOLTS!!!! So it could just fall out sometime. (In the shop getting fixed now) Cracked headers. Pistons are rubbing wrong and bent. Idle switch was completely broken off. Now the undercarriage... A piece of metal is balancing the car out since the wrong springs are used. Hole in exhaust so fumes are coming straight into the cab. Steering colom bent. Pit arms are hitting the oil pan Pit arms have actually bent into the frame and you can not turn the wheels the full way let or right. Car was a stick, switched to auto, hole in undercarriage where it was switched, covered up by the carpet. And guys, thats just the start to make the car "safe" to drive around. Yes, I bought a fixer upper... but was lied to about the frame and engine. Luckily I have talked to the shop and an attorney. This isn't the first issue with this place and we are keeping every receipt for the engine and frame and once ll repairs have been complete, Dodi's will be getting a nice court order. I have also talked to the City Commerce about the business practice and they are going to want a list of everything as well to see ho deep this goes and if their doors will be staying open. Next I am lucky enough to still be working with the military and I am going to inform the DLI. NPS, NRL, and the Marine Times, Army Times and the local paper out here about all of this. Oh, by the way, its been over a month now and guess what, like the other guy stated, we still have NO title and registration from them for the Camaro, yet with us, they have been paid in full the day we took the car off the lot. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM EVER! They actually make bad car dealers look really really good. Feel free to private message me if anything like this has happened to you so I can put you in touch with my lawyer since they are sure this isn't the fist time they have lied and sold a car not as claimed. Once again, he stated I was buying the car as is... but the "as is" was no frame damage and a good motor. Luckily for me I will still have my 69 Camaro. Sadly for this place, unless they can pull some miracle out and make good on what they have promised us, they will be closed soon enough. Oh, I forgot to mention, they do offer you a one time $500.00 fee that if you don't like the car in a certain time, they will take it back... but they keep the $500.00 read more

Stopped by this place tonight right next to Calderon Tires because I had a nail in my tire and it was leaking pretty severely. Calderon was closed due to it being 4:45 on a Sunday. I asked the nice gentleman at Dodi if he could help me. He told me he couldn't patch my tire, but literally gave me an air kit to borrow so that I can put air in my tire in the morning and drive to have it repaired properly. He didn't ask for any money or even my name, just told me to please bring it back when I was finished. He had his son walk me to my car and show me how to use it. What great service! I cannot believe the issues I have had selling a 1978 bus I bought here last year. During the sale the bus had to be registered in Ca and also get a smog. No big deal I thought. Well a few days later and haggling over the price, which he wanted to increase. The bus was ours. Had a great time with it when we drove it, but time to move on. Sold the bus a few days ago and the new owner went to get the smog complete. This is where I found out how crooked this little dealership is. No catalytic converter on the bus and no addition smog parts. The new owner asked if I had ever done any work on the bus? No I replied. Just fuel and oil! He began to tell me that the smog shop said parts were missing and he was unable to smog the bus. What parts you say? Oh just a catalytic converter and all the other required smog parts for CA. So they lied on the original sale AND forged a CA smog to sell me the bus. He had a local auto shop fake a smog and sold it to me. Shady man! Don't ever buy from this place. My boyfriend and I purchased a barn find from Dodi last year. We would constantly check if the car was still there because we wanted it, but was unsure if we wanted to take on what could potentially be a big project. Dodi and the other gentleman that work there (I forgot his name) are great! They would smile (and I am sure chuckle) every time we would come and check if it was still there. Yes, they are car salesman hustling trying to sell some cars but after getting to know Dodi, we learned he is also active in the community. No issues with the negotiation process, paperwork/registration process. As a consumer, I think it is important to know what you are potentially in for and be prepared for expenses. Do your research. Know how much you are willing to spend and know how much more you may have to spend restoring the car. You could either have a lemon or a gem. Structurally, the body is solid! Very minimal rust and minor body damage/dents still has original paint on about 90% of the body. We love the car, there is still lots to do, but it is our project car that we both enjoy to work on!! We are happy to support local, small business any way possible! read more
