I wish Los Angeles would get serious about public transportation. These shuttles are fine for getting to the game, but are an absolute nightmare returning. You can wait up to 1-2 hours after the game has ended waiting to get on a shuttle. It's simply inexcusable and unacceptable for the second largest city in the United States. But good luck getting anyone in LA city government to give a shit, from the worthless Metro board to the Mayor. Just apathy all around. Shameful. read more

I'm not sure starting service 2 hours before game time is enough. I caught the first bus on 8/29/24 (vs Baltimore) a little after 5 and we didn't get to the stadium until about 6:05. If buses leave every 10 minutes, you've got a bunch of people who won't be seeing the start of the game. It seems like MTA could coordinate with LAPD a bit better to keep bus travel moving more efficiently. The UCLA buses to the Rose Bowl are much more efficient. Getting off on Adams from the 110 and taking Figueroa to Sunset without dedicated express bus lanes makes it challenging to get to the game in time. Well, it is free so it is what it is. read more

For me, this was a great experience. Used on 6/2/23 Dodgers vs. Yankees because I knew it would be a sold-out game, and I didn't want to hassle the driving and parking. I arrived about 35-40 before the first bus was scheduled to leave, and there was already a long line of people. We didn't make the first bus, but the second one was only about 10-15 behind it, and we got on that one. Once we hit Dodger Stadium property, the bus uses a dedicated bus lane, so we got to the drop-off point quickly and got off about 45 minutes before the first pitch. This gave us a lot of time to grab a Dodger dog and find our seats. Coming back was just as easy. I'm definitely taking this the next time I go see the Dodgers. read more

I was a first time rider along with my family. We were told this is the best way to go see a Dodgers game. Wrong, it was the worst experience ever and we are never taking the bus again. We came early and stood in line for over an hour, when the buses finally did come we had to stand up for the entire way to and from the game. Also the pick up to go home was horrible as well. My husband has bad knees and the standing was not good at all, thank God this lady overheard him and said she was good with standing and gave him her seat We are never doing this again. This service used to be great but since the number of buses/pickups has been reduced the wait is just far too long (at least an hour and sometimes 90+ minutes). If you're not hanging out with friends just burning time with other fans there are better ways to get to the stadium including driving yourself. The return service isn't too bad if you get out and into line immediately after the last out but otherwise you will be waiting hours to get home as well. Its a pass for me now. read more

Used on 9/1/2023 for sold out game. Beware for anyone with accessibility issues No one is getting up for you out of a seat. If you can't stand for the length of the trip, don't get on these buses. Since the parking lot is such a pain, I loved the intent of a bus, but this is way too slow. Arrived at Harbor Gateway at 4:45pm and didn't get to stadium until 6:45pm. The actual time spacing of the buses is interesting and very, very long. Had I known this, I would have driven and had more time to enjoy the stadium. Just an update for 2023 how the Harbor gateway to Dodgers Stadium express bus works. There are only four bus rides total that come every 30 mins. The bus will not leave any earlier because there needs to be a last bus to get the late arrivals. It will take about 45 mins with no traffic and 1.5 hrs with traffic using the bus, The bus fits max around 73 people with standing room only. Do not take the bus if you need to be on time to get a promotion item. If you aren't on the first bus, find another mode of transportation. The ride back is much faster and efficient. Good luck being on time and finding a seat to sit on. read more

South Bay shuttle is a great concept, however not well-managed--at least not today. There are hundreds of fans waiting at Harbor Gateway, but few buses. I waited 55 minutes to get on, and we're sure to miss the start of the game. The 200 people behind me are really screwed, as buses have only been coming every 30 minutes. The shuttle from Union Station is better. If you use the South Bay shuttle, get to Harbor Gateway more than 2 hours before the start of a game. One hour 40 minutes wasn't early enough. read more

Let's face it... it's a pain in the ass to park your car at Dodger Stadium! It's not that cheap either, $10 in advance and $20 at the gate. So if you don't want to deal with the headaches and hassles of getting into and exiting Dodger Stadium or hunting for a free spot, then consider parking ($6 per day) at Union Station and taking the free Dodger Stadium Express shuttle over to the ballpark. If you want to save a few bucks, you can also park at a Metro station and take the light rail ($1.75 one way) to Union Station. Depending on traffic and the popularity of the game, it usually takes about 15 - 20 minutes to get to Dodger Stadium riding this express bus. If the bus isn't already full, the bus will make a stop near Broadway, just underneath the Hill St overpass to pick up more people. Once the bus gets to Dodger Stadium, there are two stops. The first stop is at the right Pavilion/Field level side. The second stop is at the Top Deck. The line to get back to Union Station can be long if it's an important game where everybody stays until the final play. Otherwise, I've never really had to wait and I almost always stay until the final play. read more

I don't know how this is possible, but I have managed to get lost EVERYTIME I leave Dodger Stadium. I have somehow ended up on a random freeway, creepy road with no car in sight, or after driving around for awhile then being back at Dodger Stadium. And this is using GPS on my phone. GRRR!! So, the Dodger Stadium Express is perfect for me. I park at Union Station and take the bus, which drops me off at the Stadium and drop me back off at Union Station. I normally try to be on the bus at least an hour before the game starts. (This will get me to the Stadium in time and won't let me miss out on free promos if they are giving out that day). Once you get to Union Station, follow the signs to the bus line. It's pretty easy to spot and they have tons of signs throughout the Station. The bus makes 2 stops, one for the lower level and one for the upper level. If you have a ticket to upper level (reserve level and upper tier), make sure to get off on the second stop as Dodger Stadium will not let you enter from the lower level entrance. If you get off at the wrong stop, you will need to trek up a few flight of stairs. They pack the bus in tightly so depending on when you enter, you might be standing. It's also easy on the way back. Go back to where the bus dropped you off and there is a bus waiting. If you wait until after the game, the line can get pretty long. But, they have buses continually coming and since they cram you in, the wait is never too long. My only one complaint about this is (as other Yelpers mentioned) is that there is no dedicated bus lane when you are leaving. So, you are going with the other cars when trying to leave. It's still better for someone like me who gets lost all the time, but it can take some time to get out of the parking lot. The last time I was there, I left after 7th inning (I believe that the buses run throughout the game) and it took no time to get back. So, if you are someone who doesn't mind leaving before the game ends, I would suggest doing that to get back earlier. You can also save money doing this. Parking at Union Station is $6, while parking at the Stadium is $15 or $30. Overall, a good way to get to Dodger Stadium. read more

Huge Dodger fan here. But I hate the stadium's parking and wait time. Bought tix for Sunday 1pm matinee vs. Angels. Heard about Dodgertown Express and first time trying it. Parking at Harbor Gateway Transit Center is free, and there were plenty of spaces. Hopped on the bus at 12:30pm (1:10pm start time). Waited about 15 minutes before bus departed. Took a total of 45 minutes from the start to getting off the bus at Chavez Ravine. Arrived right at about 1:15pm, middle of 1st inning. The bus drops you off at right field. If you have field level seats, it is the perfect place as you can enter right away. You get back on the bus at the same place it dropped you off at. Free return. They start loading people from the 7th inning. The bus doesn't leave until they have 50 people on, so you may have to wait some. We got back on the bus at the bottom of the 8th inning, and the 50th person got on right around when the game was ending. But it was able to leave before the crowds and cars began flooding the lot, so it was a smooth ride home. I would highly recommend this mode of transportation for those who want to save money and stress. Friendly service too. I will be taking the Dtown Ex. For every future game. Bus was air conditioned too which made for a very pleasant ride, there and back. read more

Yesterday was my first experience on the Dodger Stadium Express bus from Union Station. From Union Station the bus ride takes about 10 minutes in an air conditioned bus to get you there and they drop you off in the stadium near the outfield area. No parking problems, no lines to get in, they by pass all of the regular car stops. It is free if you have a Dodger ticket or $1.25 on the way there. From the Green Line you take the Blue to the Red to Union Station. From the Purple, Red or Gold it is a straight shot to Union Station Even someone from San Bernardino, Orange County or Riverside could take the Metrolink in to Union Station and enjoy a game with no hassles (and you can enjoy your beers without worrying about driving home). WARNING: One thing is make sure that the trains are running long enough. If it is a night game and the game goes extra innings you might not have the trains still running. Best and cheapest way to get to Dodger stadium, we used the Express a few times, so I recommend it. We took the Red Line on the subway to Union Station, exit toward Alameda (they have signs inside Union Station), so you won't miss it. The stop used to be outside at the Patsaouras Plaza which is closed now for renovations. Now it's on the left side off the Main Exit from Union Station, to the left, where the taxis are. There's an Info Booth close to the exit, so ask if you need, the people who work here are nice. It arrives 90 minutes prior to the game, it does come fast. Free with tickets for the game. Yes, it might get a bit crowded inside, but there's a limit, so they can't put so many peeps inside. You'll wait at the Stadium (there's a stop for Union Station and one for South Bay, so be careful when you'll get in line) at the end of the game, but it's all good. It beats the price for parking and the hassle of driving and navigating around the stadium. Great option! read more

Wonderful idea in theory, not so much in practice. I had never heard of this way to get to Dodger Stadium and was looking forward to it. Not paying for parking, not having to worry about drinking too many beers, not having to drink in the parking lot.... you get the idea. You take the train to Union Station, and the buses pick you up right outside Traxx. Show your ticket and it's free! The buses are air-conditioned, too. We got on the bus at around 6:15 for a 7:00 game. Should have been fine, right? No. We were sitting in stopped traffic for over an hour, and didn't even pass Figueroa. The driver wouldn't let us off the bus despite everyone's pleas. Finally, we were all allowed to get off the bus, and walked the rest of the way.... not a short walk and all uphill. It just seemed like such an inefficient system. There was no designated bus lane, and the driver didn't take any shortcuts to avoid traffic. You're stuck in traffic along with everyone else.... except for the fact that if I were driving, I could take a shortcut. We got to the stadium in the 5th inning, STILL beating our bus there, and were not happy at all. The buses were fairly easy to find on the way back, but they pack them to standing room capacity before sending them back downtown. Such a great idea, and I was really disappointed that it didn't turn out so well and we missed more than half the game. read more

Dodger Express is the shizzle. I have jumped on the train a few times to and from the game. You can park at the Metrolink in Aneheim, ironically at the Angels Stadium (parking is free at the station) and then grab a ticket to go to Union Station. THe best part about the Doger Express bus is that the bus moves quickly after the game so you are not stuck in line with all the chumps who paid $20 for parking. The line attendants are always pleasant. Great job hiring! Such a great idea! It's too bad Los Angeles in general doesn't embrace public transportation because this is a great example of how it works. read more

This review is for the Harbor Gateway/Artesia Transit Center only(Union Station has excellent efficiency with plenty of shuttles and a dedicated bus lane). Pros: Lots of free parking(you have to pay 12 bucks at Union Station). Conveniently located off of the 91, 110 and 405 freeways. Cons: If you don't get there early you're shit out of luck as the first bus leaves 2 hours before game time and the second bus about 15 minutes later. If you aren't on those first two you might as well just drive yourself because they intentionally slow the process down after that. You'll see 4 or 5 buses just sitting there until they're called even though there's a long line of people. ETA: Bottom of the 2nd inning Verdict: Metro does it again. It's so popular that I had to wait 1.5 hrs to board the bus. The buses only departs every 20 mins while the extra buses wait on the sideline for the 20 min mark to start. It doesn't make sense to keep everyone waiting in line with so many people lined up. Does metro want people to waste their time and money standing in line? Do they like people late for Dodgers games? They should keep the buses rolling as long as there are people there. There are enough people to pack the buses. Don't waste your time if the line wraps around the corner. I've been taking the express for years and loved it. Feels good to stick it to McCourt and his ownership of the parking lot. However, this year it has become very inefficient. If you have 60-90 minutes to wait after the game to get on the bus to go home, it's fine. They really need to allocate more buses for for Union Station location. While my Boys in Blue are out of town for the next 10 Days, I can write about a GREAT Service to Dodger Stadium. Why drive to Dodger Stadium and go through the hassle of bumper to bumper traffic when you can ride for free, the Dodger Stadium Express. You have no idea how much $$$$ Dodger Stadium Express has saved me. I have gone to over 30-40 games for the 2012 Season. That is about $300-$400 in parking. Shuttle Rides start about two hours before every home game. Go to Patsaouras Plaza and take the noticeable Dodger Stadium Express Bus. All you Need is a Dodger Ticket. If you don't have one, it may not be a problem at all. Some people like myself have tickets at Will Call. Do Note that, if there are Special Events at Dodger Stadium, Dodger Stadium Express may not be operating, such as Season Ticket Holders and other Dodger Events. The return trip from Dodger Stadium starts from 7th Inning and sometimes earlier and ends about two hours after the Final Pitch. The Metro Staff are great people and you get to laugh and share some stories. Best of all on the Dodger Stadium Express, you get to meet other Dodger Fans...and an occasional fan from the other team. I am wishing the Dodgers the best to their playoff run, but one thing is guaranteed, Dodger Stadium Express will take us to every home game and take us back to Union Station whether the Dodgers win or lose....but hopefully WIN. I'm a very big fan of the Dodger Stadium Express. Simply put . . . IT'S SO EASY! Take the red/purple/gold line or the bus to Union Station head over to Pateosaurus Plaza, find bus bay #3 (it's very well signposted - head up the stairs make a right and there should be a supervisor standing there in a day-glo yellow vest) and show the driver your Dodger ticket (or it's $1.50 if you don't have a ticket.) The bus leaves every few minutes and it was not standing room only, we were able to get seats very easily (quite a lot of room left on the bus). The trip itsself took a few minutes, it was very fast and once you get to Dodger stadium you don't have to wait in the parking lines. The busses are also revved up and ready to go after the game, or at the beginning of the 8th inning if you're like me and decide to leave when you know they're NOT going to win. There were several busses all lined up, so there was only a few minute wait between busses when it came to leaving (basically until they filled up the seats). All in all it's a great way to get to Dodger stadium and enjoy a few beers. read more

I'm a big supporter of public transportation, partly because I love the environment and hate driving (as well as parking in LA). Unfortunately, using normal streets (no dedicated lane) during rush hour is a recipe for disaster. It was a weekday game and the bus was moving like a snail, literally. We finally got off about 1.2 miles before our destination to walk because at that point the bus had literally stopped for 10-15 minutes. My advice is to take this if it's a weekend, or you really hate driving. If you choose to drive to Union Station, all day parking is $6 flat (so okay you save $4 from stadium parking). Disclaimer: This was the Yankees vs. Dodgers game that had a pretty much packed stadium. Traffic seemed unavoidable whether you drove or bussed. read more

Fantastic idea with awful execution. There are two main issue here: - Not enough busses to meet the demand. This is particularly an issue on the way back if you don't make the first, small wave of busses, because it takes a significant amount of time for the busses to return to the stadium. Expect to wait on the order of at least 30 minutes. - Needs priority lanes. Once again, this is mostly an issue on the way out. If you are lucky enough to make the first wave of busses, you're screwed because the bus is stuck behind and adjacent to the thousands of cars that deluge the shared stadium exit lanes. This service has the potential to be a fantastic alternative to the typically awful experience of car transportation to the stadium. However, Dodger Stadium and the LA Metro have some work to do before it gets there. In their defense, the Dodgers are off to an incredible start and are having record attendance this season. Me & my family took the dodger express bus Friday 9/20/19. We had a great experience we were in line at 4:40pm & we made the 2nd bus that departed at 5:20pm. The bus was nice & clean & A/C was working wonderful. We arrived at Stadium at 6:20pm & it drops you off in right field pavilion. I would recommend get in line early to depart artesia transit center & be in line to go back home at least by the end of 8th inning if you don't want to be waiting long. Instead of paying $15 for parking at Dodger Stadium, why not instead drive to Union Station, park for free, show your Dodgers tickets and take the shuttle FOR FREE??!!! This shuttle is located right inside the Union Station. Park here free of charge, and just line up to take the shuttle. The 2-3 mile drive lasts about 15 minutes, depending on traffic. All you have to do is show your ticket to the Dodgers game you'll be attending. The shuttle drops you off right outside the stadium. Once the game is over, just line up at the multiple shuttle locations and you're taken back to Union Station and to your car! It is becoming the preferred method for people wanting to go to Dodgers games. Hey, I think I might have just saved you $15 from parking at the stadium! No need to thank me....just shuttle it!!!!
