She's elderly so I'm helping her out and they the woman on the phone at the company was spectacular. The two guys that came over were not, they were high pressure salespeople. Gave her two costs over $1200 to fix it and over $3,500 for a replacement and they were doing the high pressure thing to her and she is on a fixed income and it's just s***** business in my opinion. I ended up going with another plumbing company getting a new a new water heater put in for under $1,500. Do not call this place. They will rip you off if you let them. don't. The furnace she had put in is only $650 at menards. Glad you replied Joe and are taking this seriously, but the damage has already been done. When your 2 folks were at her house diagnosing the problem, I spoke with them over the phone for a good 10 minutes. She told me afterwards she was so happy she had me to tell her to say "no thank you" because of the pressure and ridiculous prices your guys had put on her. They had an answer to everything (even to me) of why it is that expensive, like they have been through this exact practice, over and over and over. I don't really care for any more of your lip service, I will just never use your company again and tell my friends and family to avoid S and J Plumbing & Sewer 100% of the time. A cheap 40 gallon $650 water heater that takes 2-3 hours to put in should never be $3000. Shame shame trying to take advantage of the elderly on a fixed income.

$35,000 DISASTER FROM A SIMPLE CLOGGED TOILET!!!…read more We called "Emergency Plumbing" with a clogged toilet in August 2024. After their plumber visited us, we ended up with THREE ROOMS DESTROYED BY WATER AND SEWAGE, costing $35,000 IN REPAIRS that took SEVERAL MONTHS, and then later getting dropped by our brand new homeowners insurance due to the claim! "Emergency Plumbing" happily took my several hundred dollars in payment for "clearing the clogged toilet". They have offered no recompense for causing our massive loss. But, to their credit, they did say "sorry" a couple times. THE FULL, DISGUSTING, DANGEROUS, SAD STORY: In August 2024 I called about a clogged toilet I couldn't plunge clear. They were able to schedule a plumber for early in the morning. The plumber arrived, and first wanted to see my septic tank. He started to hand dig a bit towards the tank. A minute of digging got nowhere, so he decided to come inside and look at the toilet. He tried an auger to clear the clog, to no avail. So, he asked to see the sewer cleanout. We went to the basement, where things were about to go DANGEROUSLY BAD. We located it above a ceiling tile in the finished basement. He held a up small garbage bag and opened up the cleanout... A FIRE HOSE RIVER OF SEWAGE immediately began to spray out onto him and our finished basement. He panicked and asked for garbage cans / bags to catch the sewage river. My wife brought down some large utility garbage bags. The plumber and I held up and filled about 3-4 large bags of sewage over our heads during the next several minutes before the flow finally stopped and he could cap off the cleanout. He reassured me by saying, "sometimes stuff like this happens". We were both drenched in sewage from head to toe. Some had splashed in my eyes and mouth. He started to hand mop up the large sewage puddle with some paper towels. I told him "don't bother, this all will need a mitigation company". He replied, "all you really need is some soap and water". Ummm no. We dried off, shedded clothes and went back upstairs. The toilet still wouldn't drain, so he said he'd drive back to get the larger auger. He asked if I had any toilets upstairs, and I replied yes. He said "OK, you can use your upstairs toilet and shower, just don't use the clogged one down here". He left and I started to shower. After showering I came back down to the main floor to discover that SHOWER WATER WAS GUSHING OUT OF THE TOILET INTO OUR BATHROOM AND HALLWAY!!! More fun! In the second panic of the day, I tried my best to dam up the NEW RIVER OF WATER now FLOODING my main level hardwood floors. I ran downstairs to see even more water now soaking many ceiling tiles and raining onto the sauna and floor. I called the plumber and the head plumber agreed to come join the fun. He arrived, I explain the scene, and he said "Oh no, he should never have told you to use the fixtures upstairs". Oh no! The first plumber later returned with the larger auger. They managed to clear the clog with it. They did some hand mopping up of the now destroyed first floor powder room, hallway, hall closet, and living room. They asked for a check for several hundred dollars, said sorry for the problems, took my check and left. The next day we opted for a water & sewage mitigation company, rather than the plumber's recommendation of "soap and water". Over the next couple days, my wife and kids truly enjoyed watching the hardwood floors, powder room, drywall, and finished basement get ripped out of the house we had purchased just months before. Then we had four days of loud industrial fans and dehumidifiers to hopefully prevent any mold. Then a few weeks enjoying a half ripped apart house, no working first floor bathroom, rough hardwood cuts, nails, etc. Lots of fun for kids and wives alike. The insurance claim process and reconstruction took place over the next couple months. We had to cancel our Thanksgiving party, as we were still wrapping up the rebuild by then.In the weeks after the plumbing adventure, I texted and called the plumber, hoping to get some recompense for this disaster, maybe cover my insurance deductible, maybe even my money back? We talked on the phone once and I made my case. He didn't offer anything at all. Haven't heard from them since. I would love to avoid going to court and just have them do the right thing, make this right for a family of four whose second half of 2024 was ruined by their work. Does anyone stand by their work anymore? 0 STARS - CANNOT RECOMMEND FOR ANY PLUMBING WORK. Maybe the head plumber is good? But whatever junior plumber they sent to unclog my toilet basically destroyed much of my new house. They were arrived on time and were friendly to talk to, though, tiny bonus points for that. ONE QUARTER OF A STAR

A couple of weeks later, we noticed the soil around the catch basin beginning to sink. Over time, the settling worsened to the point where part of the catch basin wall and some of our foundation became visible, which was understandably concerning. Communication was slow at first, and it took some persistence to get follow-up. Eventually, J Sewer & Drain did come out to inspect the catch basin. After their evaluation, they indicated that the installation itself appears to be sound and that the settling is likely due to soil compaction issues rather than a structural problem with the basin. Since the inspection, things seem to be stable and okay. While the situation was stressful and the communication gap was frustrating, I do appreciate that they ultimately came out to assess the issue and explain their findings. Thank you!

My kitchen sink was draining incredibly slowly, and my previous attempts to fix it just weren't working. From the very first phone call, the team was professional and easy to work with. Scheduling the appointment was a breeze, and I was given a courtesy call on the day of service with an estimated arrival time, which ended up being earlier than expected. I really appreciated the heads-up, as it worked out just fine for my schedule. When the plumbers arrived, they were prompt, courteous, and took the time to ask about the issue before assessing the situation. They gave me a reasonable verbal quote and got to work right away, completing the service the same day. I also liked that they accept credit card payments, making the whole process even more convenient. Thanks to Chicago Sewer & Drain, my kitchen sink is back to normal, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience. Would I hire them again? Absolutely! Would I recommend them? 100%

Stay away from this company. They cannot be trusted, they left my house destroyed with 10 holes all…read moreover my laundry room and a basement bathroom after paying 12,000. We initially contacted the company to fix a clogged kitchen sink. Before they arrived, we clearly explained that rodding had already been attempted and did not work, and that we needed someone equipped with a camera inspection to locate the clog. When they arrived, they insisted on trying rodding again, saying their machine was more powerful. After several hours, the clog remained. My stairs carpet was full of mud after they left.. They returned another day to troubleshoot, but the camera they had was too large to see inside the pipes which again we had requested a thinner one from the start. Tomas indicated that they needed to do one , two small openings max to locate the clogged pipe. However, this escalated to ten holes throughout the laundry room walls and ceiling, as well as the basement bathroom walls and ceiling. He changed a pipe in the bathroom for no reason. To justify that he opened holes on the bathroom tha had nothing to do with the kitchen sink? Eventually, they discovered that the pipe leading to the outside of the house was collapsed. The solution was to excavate under the house, outside concrete stairs, under deck to fix the pipe. My husband proposed the solution to reroute the kitchen drain through the laundry room floor to connect to the city pipe. They said they needed to come next day to hydrojet and find the city pipe, plus 3 days to do the work. The quoted $12,000 which we felt was a lot of money but we had no kitchen sink for over a week now, 10 holes on the house, and not thinking clearly at this point. We accepted given the stressful situation, we agreed and paid $6,000 upfront. The work was completed in less than eight hours (versus 3 days) far less time and effort than represented. He promised us before starting that he will send someone to cover all the holes. Well he never sent anyone. After a couple weeks we texted and he gave us some BS excuse that he wanted to make sure he sent someone good, didn't mater the cost. A month later, same story, that the job is to small foe him to find someone (10 hold is small? I cannot imagine how much wrost could have been if we let him excavate towards the outside of the house. In summary he can't be trusted, his words means nothing. Do not pay him until you are satisfied. I File a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), and he didn't even answered, that is how much he cares. So i am going to leave this review in every place they are advertised and every moms, community facebook pages from north riverside to 10 miles around.
