For over a decade I went to a business that was around the corner from my home in Fern Creek - after another company acquired them. I knew it was time for a change. Two business later, I can honestly say Mooney EyeCare Center is and will always be my forever home for my eyes. The staff was extremely efficient and friendly. I felt welcomed and comfortable as soon as I walked through the doors. I love the decor! The waiting rooms and the exam rooms all have the same artistic floor that relaxes you and puts you at ease. There was no wait to get placed into an exam room and the wait for my eye doctor was minimal. My optometrist was Dr. Hargus. His eye examination was thorough and he asked appropriate questions as needed. Dr. Hargus was extremely knowledgeable, speaks very clearly and made direct eye contact when discussing my eye assessment with me. He was also friendly. They have a nice, big showroom with many different frames to try on. With Covid, they are asking after you try them on to put them in a basket to be sterilized. On today's visit we saw Dr. McKlinch and the eye tech (I didn't catch her name, but she was wonderful). Both of them made my kids feel comfortable and excited to be at the eye doctor. They listened intently as my son rambled about all of his different fandoms. It was really sweet. Overall, we totally recommend this practice for your eye needs. They're warm, efficient, and effectively using precautions against Covid.

My prescription glasses were not working for me. I was surprised when Dr Borders showed me pictures of my retina which shows a serious issue. He asked if my previous Dr said anything about this or about my cataracts. No he didn't. He said everything was OK. Dr Borders said I am on verge of losing sight in one eye, plus I definitely need my cataracts removed. I am glad that he was truthful and direct with me. He immediately got me an appointment with a retina specialist as well as a cataract doctor. I now feel like I am on right track to save and improve my vision, thanks to Dr Borders.

If an individual has vision insurance and health insurance, they are to bill the vision insurance first and then the health insurance. Otherwise it's a type of fraud. I went to their office and what should have been a $10 copay for my office visit, they charged $121. They had my vision insurance and they are the only optometrist I have ever seen for a routine exam that asked for my health insurance information. When I asked them did you bill my vision insurance? The young lady at the desk said nope. Well why not? Now, they did reimburse me the additional $110 that they charged me. But to date still have not charged my vision insurance. Why is that? Oh, I know why, because they'll get a large reimbursement by billing my health insurance. This was for a routine eye exam in order to get new glasses. Not a comprehensive eye exam for cataracts or glaucoma or macular. It was only to get a new prescription for eyewear. I actually read the review by the business owner. Just to be clear, I called my vision insurance before and after my visit . They made it very clear that you are to bill the vision insurance first and then my medical insurance. In the 45 years that I've been paying for my own vision insurance. You're the only company that has ever billed my health insurance first and only. It is a matter of a possible fraudulent business practice. My vision insurance is in the prospect of looking into that and will make recommendation.

I was anxious because I've been seeing Dr. Olund for a few years and was unsure what to expect. Dr. Gogel is a ROCKSTAR. She absolutely crushes it! She is super friendly, super kind, and explains everything. She took the time to review my medical history before my appointment and did not need me to explain a lifetime of vision problems. I cannot recommend Focus Eyecare Center enough. I shopped for optometrists for about 10 years before meeting Dr. Olund. I vividly remember my first appointment with her.
