Although I showed up a little late (boo traffic), I was checked in promptly and began the exam with nearly 0 wait time. I saw Dr. Gogel (spelling might be wrong) for the first time. I was anxious because I've been seeing Dr. Olund for a few years and was unsure what to expect. Dr. Gogel is a ROCKSTAR. She absolutely crushes it! She is super friendly, super kind, and explains everything. She took the time to review my medical history before my appointment and did not need me to explain a lifetime of vision problems. You can't go wrong here. The staff is amazing. They truly care about the experience their patients have and strive to achieve greatness in the service they provide. I cannot recommend Focus Eyecare Center enough. I shopped for optometrists for about 10 years before meeting Dr. Olund. I vividly remember my first appointment with her. When I moved out of Southern Indiana I was extremely concerned about my eye care. I truly believe no one is better so I make the commute (only from Louisville, but it's across state lines lol). I asked her to explain the charges and why they were sending a statement a year after the service and it being paid in full at the time. I asked why no one is holding billing (which is her) accountable. She told me again that I needed to pay it or she didn't care what I did at that point. Dr Andrew Kearns is a great doctor. He's very good at informing me at what he's doing and why. He listens to my questions - and I have a lot due to a serious macula issue that needs to be closely monitored. He obviously cares about me and my vision care. The office is very roomy and never overcrowded. I feel welcome and valued from the moment I walk in until I leave.

Despite being an optometrist and eyeglasses store for primarily adults, they were very gentle and kind with my son. Dr. Martorana explained what he was doing along the way. The only part my son did not like was getting his eyes dilated, as you pretty much can imagine. But they were patient with him and helped him through it. And after we were done, they showed him the toy drawer, where he was able to pick out a few items to take home. (The highlight of the day for my son.) I scheduled my annual visit to be right after my son's, and they were helpful to give me the care I needed while also being efficient with the visit, considering I had my son in tow. Completely inaccurate -- I've been out of Kentucky for 2 years, haven't worn contacts since they prescribed them in December 2023, and 1-800 Contacts doesn't even have a prescription on file for me (I checked BOTH accounts). Instead of blaming your system or third-party vendors, you chose to blame the patient. A simple, respectful message would've sufficed. This review is nothing against the quality of medical care. However, this office is needs to be…read morecompletely retrained. Customer service, empathy or concern for actually following their own established policies seems to be selective. At the very minimum the staff is rude and biased. At the horrendously worst they are racially judgmental. Speaking very calm I was told that I was getting loud and angry. Immediately I was told that no longer discussion was warranted and that I needed to talk to the office manager due to my "heated and loud" demeanor. I deal in conflict management daily at my job and even informed the clerk that I was displeased at the situation, but that a disagreeing perspective does not equate to loud or even angry in tone. I have had mixed experiences with the staff during my 15 plus years of treatment, but have never been treated like this. There generally has been a feeling of greater than thou or elitism instead of an everyone is welcome attitude. I at first equated that to having government insurance. I now have exceptional corporate insurance and treatment was not any different. I would have left and went elsewhere a long time ago if not for the care I received from my doctor. Dr. Woodruff has always been incredibly kind and caring. However, I will not be stereotyped. I am the very last to bring classism, race or any other type of prejudiced accusations into a situation unjustly but today's experience was putrid. To the office's credit, I could have been seen and dealt with the attitudes if I myself had been to my appointment exactly on time or early. That is on me. I fully take that responsibility. Oh well. I may make a BBB complaint as well but there are plenty other eyecare facilities. My treatment will have to be postponed for another month or so and I am thankful it wasn't excessively, medically urgent. Except for possibly picking up my records; I will NOT be back her again. Sad.
