Late review, but finally getting around to it. I had Docs Garage do an electrical overhaul on my 1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS in Nov of 2021. I had them fix my rear tail lights, install a complete radio system, fix my interior courtesy lights, glove box light, replace my vacuum controlled broken hideaway headlight system with an electrically powered one, and fix my blinking headlights that wouldn't always stay on with the car. All of that was done to the tune of $4,190. I knew that this was a lot of work and a high price to pay. But I had given them a complete call sheet of the repairs necessary and set my appointment a few weeks out to complete. So why the 2 stars? My biggest concern with the car at the time was nighttime driving. Not having my headlights working properly was gambling with the safety of doing that. When I picked up the car I was pretty much right away given a disclaimer that "the headlights weren't working a 100% and might need to be totally re-wired..." Which I found a pretty odd thing to say to a customer after I'm supposed to be picking it up fixed. That was a priority to repair and they had to already completely remove the headlights to install the electrically operated hide-away headlight system. Not only that, but they forgot to repair a broken hinge in the headlight system that I had given them a new replacement part for. This would have taken 1/4 of the time to do with the headlight assembly already removed from the car. Pretty much within a week off the lot I started to notice my headlights blinking again at random worse than when I dropped the car off. I lived with the car like this for almost a year before I finally found a local auto electrician to fix them for $500. They informed me that both headlights were improperly grounded and they put in my replacement hinge Doc's forgot. Seeing how I paid at Doc's $500 for troubleshoot and diagnostic, $1000 for the hideaway headlight swap, and an other $500 for "repairing of faulty headlight connections and grounds" , only now I know I way overpaid for service that was done incorrectly. They did a great job with the radio, all the other electrical repairs, and the car was delivered back to me cleaner and detailed more than any other mechanic has ever returned the car. I just wish they had spent less time detailing the car and more time on the headlights. For paying $2K alone to work with the headlights, they should have been correctly wired.

Hot Rodders tend to be good mechanics, and car geeks. These guys are both, and although the shop might be difficult to find, and you'll drive down a narrow alley bounded on one side by an array of various hot rods and restorations in progress, I can assure you it's worth your time. In my case, I can't afford a hot rod. I can't afford a restoration, but I do need somebody that I can rely upon to work on my old truck and make it right. Jason and his crew of wild-eyed fanatics have done excellent work on my "beat up old truck", which is purring like a kitten and just turned 300,000 miles. So, take it from me: whether you've got a project to resto-mod something into a 500 horsepower show car, or 165 horsepower working heirloom, this is a garage you should check out. I'll certainly be back.

Doc's Garage is the absolute best. I inherited a 67 Mustang that hadn't run in 18 years and I didn't know where to begin. I called around, and Doc's was the most helpful and responsive place I spoke with. So I brought her in! Jason is extremely detailed and great at communicating what is happening at every step of the repair/restoration process. My car is running beautifully and I couldn't be happier with the work and care he put into the car.

    After

Doc's Garage promised and delivered. After 30 years I have finally been able to restore my 1970 Camaro. No easy task I might add. After many weekends of driving to different restorations shops around the San Fernando Valley to find someone to do the work. It was clear that Jason and Doc's garage were the right people to do the job. Jason was knowledgeable, professional and just right out an awesome guy. I had Jason upgrade all the electrical and replace the entire dashboard to start off my restoration and the work came out great. I couldn't be happier and would strongly recommend Jason for any classic car restoration needs!

Doc's garage worked on an electrical problem on my 1966 Chevy C10. He was able to find the short that was draining my battery and also replaced by headlights. He was also able to trouble shoot my leaking air bags to be fixed on another occasion. Definitely recommend Docs.

Exceptional Service, Integrity, and Trust -- Highly Recommend Ray at 101 Auto Repair…read more I cannot say enough wonderful things about Ray and the team at 101 Auto Repair. I've been bringing my vehicles to Ray since the early 2000s, and he has consistently proven himself to be honest, knowledgeable, and someone I can completely trust. I drive a 2021 Land Rover Discovery Sport, and now that I'm past the factory warranty, it is incredibly important for me to know I have a mechanic who will give me accurate information and fair pricing--without taking advantage of the situation. Ray has always done exactly that. Over the past few months, I've had a few issues arise. When my car overheated and was losing coolant, Ray quickly diagnosed a leaking hose and repaired it the very same day, getting me safely back on the road at a fair price. Another time, when the check engine light came on, he identified that it was simply the battery and replaced it efficiently. What I appreciate most is his honesty. Just yesterday, my check engine light came on again, and after running diagnostics, Ray explained that the system was detecting vapor from the refueling area and that I likely just needed to tighten my gas cap. He could have easily charged me for unnecessary work, but instead, he gave me the correct guidance--and didn't charge me a thing. He has even helped me with small things, like replacing the battery in my key fob, at no cost. Ray is the kind of mechanic everyone hopes to find--skilled, fair, honest, and genuinely committed to taking care of his customers. When you leave his shop, you feel confident and secure knowing your vehicle was serviced correctly. If you are looking for a trustworthy mechanic who will treat you with integrity and respect, I highly recommend Ray and 101 Auto Repair.

Sevan, the new owner, made a horrible situation manageable from the very beginning. He took the time to clearly explain what was wrong, what my options were, and what the repair would realistically cost and take in time -- no surprises and no runaround. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process, which is rare when dealing with major automotive repairs. The transmission replacement went smoothly and the vehicle now drives the way it should again. What stood out most was how much they genuinely cared about helping me, not just finishing the job. They went above and beyond to accommodate me, keep me informed, and make sure I felt comfortable leaving my vehicle in their hands. If you need honest, professional work done -- especially something major -- I strongly recommend AM-KO Automotive Repair. They turned a nightmare repair into a manageable experience, and that says a lot. Very reasonable price!!!

I so appreciated the information from Sevan, the guidance on the brake pads, and the price they charged, which was in line with most competitors. Lexus dealership had said I need to resurface the rotors always, but I knew that wasn't true. They quoted me double most other places, too. Sevan at Am-ko shop let me know that sometimes you might but they checked to see what needed it. Beyond that, they do the work that needs to be done without nickel and diming. Your staff openly stated that the other customer was spending around $800 while my Groupon appointment was "only about $40," and therefore I was effectively pushed aside and told to come back another day. Hearing this said so casually was astonishing. This behavior was not just unprofessional -- it was completely irrational. My service was a simple 15-minute oil change. Any business with even a basic understanding of operations would have completed the quick job first, kept both customers, and protected both profits. Instead, you chose the one option that shows a complete lack of logic and loses on every front. The decision-making displayed today was so fundamentally flawed that it raises serious concerns about the overall competence and standards of this shop. If such obvious, common-sense judgment is missing at the front desk, it is impossible to trust that more complicated work in the shop could be handled safely, responsibly, or intelligently. A company that cannot grasp the simplest priorities -- and makes choices that defy basic reasoning -- demonstrates an operational standard far below what any customer should ever have to tolerate. The absence of common sense today was so severe that it called into question whether this business should be trusted with anyone's vehicle at all. I will never return, and I will make sure others know exactly how this shop treats customers who arrive on time with confirmed appointments. What I experienced today was not an isolated mistake -- it was a shocking display of disrespect, terrible judgment, and a complete failure of professionalism.
