Food professional reviewer: I viewed the menu on-line and placed an order, only to be told we don't have that. I placed an order then for a fried chicken sandwich and their hand cut French fries for which there is an up charge. When I got the food it was bordering on cold. The French fries could have been fried a bit harder, but what was really unacceptable was that they tasted like fish. Most restaurants, if they do a brisk business, will keep FF to their own basket. My chicken breast and FF both smelled and tasted like fish. I'm allergic to fish. I could NOT eat my meal, my lips started to swell. This is totally unacceptable for a professional restaurant. I've never encountered this. Oil needs to be changed very frequently, yes it's expensive and yes, it's a messy job but!!!! Someone needs to do it. If you like meat in all forms and have eating mates who can't decide what they want - this IS the place! Everything is good. Burgers are juicy, pizzas are round and tacos are massive. They are committed to quality in all forms. The kids chicken tenders were hand made and freshly battered. My crab cake sandwich was also really good. They have a lot of beer and cocktail options. I recommend a margarita or the cucumber vodka spritzer. What to improve- the salt. My monster onion rings were obviously fresh battered, but the salt was excessive. The portions of food are more than you would might expect. Sure, you might pay a little more, but it is worth every penny. I've been coming here ever since they rebuilt it from the late "Rock Bass"! Went on a Wednesday evening, after 5:30. They don't really give "wait times" so you don't know how long you'll be standing before they seat you. Our server was nice and most of the food was good. We got an onion ring appetizer and they for sure did not peel those onions fully. The "appetizer" plates they brought out were crusty, clearly not looked at after taken out of the washer. Wish I would've thought to take a photo then. Overall, nothing to brag about, also the quesadillas were soggy, sister took them home and popped them in the air fryer that was a big help. I came here with my husband, two sons and son's girlfriend to celebrate my younger son's 21st birthday. We were told that because my son's girlfriend was under 21 that we needed her "guardian" to be present in order for us to order cocktails or beer or everyone who was sitting at the table needed to be over 21. This was absolutely absurd. I am over 21 My husband is over 21 My older son is over 21 My younger son was 21 The girlfriend is 20 They gave us two options: LEAVE or not have any cocktails to celebrate my son's 21st birthday. I had a delightful first-time experience at this establishment. If you're wondering whether it's worth a visit, the answer is yes! During the warmer months, scoring a seat on the deck overlooking the beautiful Susquehanna waters can be a challenge, but fear not. I opted for a seat at the outside bar, which provided a bird's eye view of the river and the Harrisburg city skyline, thanks to the rail seating. The view was breathtaking. To my pleasant surprise, my food and drink order arrived in less than 10 minutes, despite the busy evening. After spending the day kayaking, I was craving some delicious food, and the quick service was impressive. The bartender was friendly and helpful, and the drinks were amazing. I devoured the wrap I had ordered - it was that good! While I couldn't secure a table due to not making reservations and arriving on a Thursday evening at 6:45 pm when it was 75 degrees outside, I couldn't fault the establishment for that. Wonderful outside deck with great pub type of food. This was our first time to eat here, but not the last. They had the brand of wine we wanted and really enjoyable food. This was our first visit to Dockside Willies. We've been to their sister restaurant, Duke's, once before and really enjoyed it. Willies didn't disappoint. It's a HUGE restaurant with a large bar area. Unfortunately, you can't sit at the bar due to COVID restrictions but I can imagine it's a fun place to watch sports and enjoy drinks during "normal" times. The two-sided menu had so many delicious sounding items that it was almost overwhelming and made it hard to narrow down to pick a meal! That's not a bad problem to have! We started with the River Rocks appetizer. Oh. My. God. DELISH!!! We probably could have ordered that and been done - but why would we do that?!?! For our meal my husband had BBQ sliders. The sliders are served on Martins rolls and were HUGE! I had the Willies BBQ stax. The BBQ was out of this world good. It was so much food that we took most of it back with us. I recently had a brief lunch at Dockside Willies. I've never checked out this establishment before, and I was hesitant to go during the pandemic. I am not sure what the restaurant looked like before COVID, but when I went in, there were plexiglass dividers between booths. I was placed by a window in a 2 top table, with plenty of room around me and very few patrons, but shortly after ordering my lunch from server Ellie, they sat a group of 5 or so people directly behind me. There were tons of other booths, so I was dissapointed that they choose to put a full table right behind a customer, if they were distancing people. That aside, my server Ellie (I hope that is correct) was excellent, friendly and quick to respond, and forward thinking when it came to drink refills. I ordered a grilled bacon and cheese with fries, and a crab pretzel. The grilled cheese was fantastic. The bread was crispy with extra cheese on the outside of the sandwich, it was delivered promptly so everything was still hot and melted. It was fantastic. The fries, house cut and fresh made were a slight disappointment, but they reheated well in the air fryer the next day. The crab pretzel was great, with crispy edges to the cheese topping, and a generous amount of crab meat. It was a tough day for me, but my server made a difference with her cheer and attention to detail. I asked for half of my food to go, and it was a nice lunch for the next day. I would certainly go back, but probably wait until the restrictions on restaurants are lifted. The 5 or 6 people behind me overtook that table, and the plexiglass divider between us was pretty ineffective when people are seated out at the edges of the table. read more

Either nobody answered the main line or when they did and transferred me to the bar to place the order, it would ring three times and go to voicemail. The deck has always been the reason, right on the Susquehanna. Nice to see the upgrades inside and out now that they've reopened. Food is fine. River Rocks are the best things on the menu-garlic knots stuffed with randomness and are (were) like molten lava when you break them open and dunk them in the marinara. Not so molten during this latest visit. Even more distressing, was the absolute disregard of some staff to wearing their mask and instead choosing to sport a chin strap. Even after requesting that the face covering be worn as such.... this is not how a restaurant stays operating during a pandemic. Perhaps the Worst part was that at least one of those offending staff members was training a new employee -- makes me very concerned about the lack of appropriate management and disregard for their patrons. read more

Dockside Willies is very similar to Duke's. Is that a coincidence? I'm not from the area, but have been to both when I'm in town for work. The menus are very similar and the quality of food is almost identical. The chicken sliders are literally the same at both locations. The bar area is nicer though. Much brighter, more space and TV's. Service was prompt, bartender was friendly, no real complaints. Simple, American bar food. read more

At one point, due to his ineptitude, got people on a walkway wet and later half our party. It's a Saturday. Why is Wednesday morning work being done in a Saturday evening. 2: The f$&@ing bees! Holy sh*t! The bees alone ruined our experience. Hovering and zipping around every table and the bar. I what if someone is severely allergic? We go no warnings and when we checked in. Owners clearly don't care or mitigating measures would be obvious and warnings issued at the door to let patrons know. 3: first draft I ordered came back and smelled of bleach or other strong cleaner. Waitress gracefully replaced it. But still, c'mon. 4: I ordered a deep dish and got a thin crust. While good, that's not what I ordered. And everyone at the table heard me order it...except the waitress apparently. Instead of raising an issue, and waiting for a replacement, I just dealt with it. read more

We've been here a few times since we moved to Pennsylvania two years ago and they never disappoint! The food is always delicious, the drinks are amazing and the staff are great! Great atmosphere along the river. Wait was reasonable for outside seating. Outside bartender not a smiler. Young man at the checkin stand was stoice because of a headache. Drinks good. Food was ok, nothing amazing. I imagine with a menu so big, it is hard to make anything great. The salt shaker had dark pieces u. It. We asked the waitress about it, so she said she would bring us a new shaker.
