My friend and I arrived at 1:30pm and placed our order. We had a couple of mimosas while we waited, but by 2:45pm our food still hadn't arrived. We finally decided to leave and asked to pay for just the drinks. As we were checking out, the food suddenly came out, which we declined since it had been well over an hour. When we expressed our frustration, our server Destiny told us we should have "come earlier" or "called ahead" because they were short-staffed and busy on Sundays. Stopped in for Sunday brunch and we were all highly impressed! Service was good, food was wonderful. They have something for everyone. Grits were some of the best I've had in a long time. Came here as we were driving by on our way to Virginia. The restaurant was having a private event and it was really loud. Anyway, food was good and seasoned well, nothing special. However, it came out so quickly after we ordered it and felt like it was reheated instead of freshly prepared. Food came before our drinks. Go figure. My pasta had super hot penne at the bottom of the bowl and some pastas were room temperature on top. Main entrees were inexpensive but the salad was way too small for $8, drinks were $10, small pour, my BF had ketel on the rocks and he had 2 sips and it was gone. We had a small group of 10 for an after work gathering. We reserved a nice area in the bar area. The food was great.... Interesting appetizers that we could share. Jorge was our server and helped with ordering the aps ahead of time so we could just sit and enjoy conversation and have the appetizers pre-ordered. We were so happy to have found Crawdaddys! After our trip to New Orleans this summer we were craving the delicious New Orleans cuisine. I thought surely some restaurant in central PA must must have a menu serving Jambalaya and catfish! Crawdaddys nailed it and we had a delightful dinner. We haven't enjoyed a meal like that since our trip. The atmosphere was well decorated with hints of jazz. Our server was an absolute joy and delight. I stopped in for takeout while in Harrisburg for a conference; I ordered a shrimp po'boy and sweet potato fries. The pros: it was tasty, the remoulade sauce was spicy and delish. The fries were perfectly done and plentiful. The cornbread they also gave me was soft and very tasty. The cons: I asked for an iced tea while I waited for the food; it never arrived and they gave me one to go. I didn't need it anymore. The po'boy: it only had three shrimp on it. So yummy and crunchy with flavors like lemon pepper, creole butter, sweet heat and more. Prepare to wait a while for your meal as it will be made fresh. It is well worth the wait though. I wanted to like this and was excited when i had the opportunity. But my whole visit i was very disappointed. The covid menu was all fried and offered very little Cajun food. So it was more like a seafood restaurant with a small twist. The prices were very high for the food value and the non Louisiana feel. The service was the worst part. A few mistakes with our order. And and a hour and a half to get or meal. The place was all but empty. So it was really no reason for it to take that long. The food was very good. And have no complaints on that. My better half had the catfish and grits breakfast and I had the breakfast po' boy. From the cornbread brought out before the meal to the fried green tomato side everything was delicious. The catfish was perfectly cooked. The grits (with cheese) were creamy and delicious. All washed down with the best Sweet Tea I have had up north. My wife - raised in Alabama - actually said best grits she had ever had. Portion sizes weren't the biggest, but between the tea and cornbread, I didn't leave hungry. Wouldn't call it great for the price point but not bad either. If there was anything I would knock, it was the little details - decor (hanging wires, dying plants) and the service (could have been more attentive). But, with cooking this good? I can overlook it. Last night my fiancé and I, along with two friends, decided to try out brunch at Crawdaddys this weekend. They are a Cajun style restaurant located on 6'th street in Harrisburg and they have been on my list of restaurants to try for a few months now. We plan on going back to try out their dinner menu, and I have to say as a disclaimer that there was a gospel brunch the morning that we arrived, so that probably contributed to the stress level of the staff and the overall experience that we had. Located next to Cafe 1500, we were sat immediately in the back room. We did find the layout of the restaurant to be a little tight, and though the back room had much more space than the front room, it was very dimly-lit. Some of us appreciated the lack of lighting on a Sunday morning, but others would have benefitted from some sunshine. The service was pretty average. Our server was kind enough to our table, and was juggling tables in two different rooms and outdoor seating, while training a new server and preparing for the gospel concert. We did overhear some tention between the staff concerning orders and service throughout the restaurant, which is always sort of uncomfortable, but they were clearly just stressed and not being rude or hostile. All of our food and drinks made it to us fast enough, but we never received coffee refills. Two of us had ordered varieties of eggs Benedict and the flavors and portion sizes were right-on, however, the eggs were poached solid and the yolk wasn't runny at all, which was disappointing for the price. I had three delicious, large shrimps with my shrimp and grits that were perfectly seasoned. Two of our group ordered French toast and were very happy with it. Our mimosas and bloody Mary's were very good and we were all happy with them. My friend said that it was the best Bloody Mary that she's had in months. When we asked for our checks to be split, a few items were incorrect but our server kindly and quickly fixed the checks. We sort of got lost inside the restaurant on our way out, as there way no clear path to the door. I have a feeling that more tables than normal may have been in the front room due to the gospel music, but still we wandered around trying to get outside and it was quite unusual. Overall the food was very good, drinks were good and service was sufficient. I feel that we paid for a little bit more than the overall experience called for, but because of the uniqueness of the food I am excited to go back for dinner soon and see how the service and food compares to our brunch experience. The restaurant was clean and it is a large space. It was very open. The staff was pleasant and attentive. I had the Mississippi Baby Back Rib dinner, the side I chose were Mac and Cheese and Rosemary Red Potatoes. The Ribs were delicious, the Mac and Cheese was cold, but still had good flavor, the potatoes were great and seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend got the Chicken and Waffles with a side of Mac and Cheese, you could either get fried chicken or chicken tenders. He elected to go with the fried chicken. About 15 minutes after we put our order in the waitress came back and stated that the restaurant was out of the waffle mix and the other option was sweet potato mix. He is not normally a fan of sweet potato flavor, but opted for the sweet potato mix. The waffles were ok, the sweet potato mix had a weird after taste. The chicken was the real disappointment. It was 3 small over cooked wings. For the price the Chicken and Waffles were definitely not worth it. The Ribs on the other hand were great and I would order them again. The huge drawback was the wait. I understand that the food is cooked fresh, but there was only one other table in the dining room besides ours and it took 50 minutes for us to receive our food. That could also be why the Mac and Cheese was cold. I would say if you are not in a rush and are in the area wanting some decent southern style food/Soul food, I would give it a try, but I certainly would not make a special trip to this restaurant. read more

Went to Crawdaddy's on a Tuesday night around 7pm and it was pretty busy. Took about 10mins for someone to come to the table and greet us (3ppl). We ordered a couple apps and one entree: collard and chicken egg rolls (4pcs), fries green tomato (4pcs) and 1/2 rack of baby back ribs. The entree sides we got pinto beans with rice and mac & cheese. The apps were decent and the the egg rolls filling. The ribs were fall off bone cooked. The pinto beans were under cooked and the rice was over cooked and gooey. The mac was just ok. Once food was ordered everything came out within 20-25 min. so not too bad. As I arrived to Crawdaddys I was able to get parking right in front of the restaurant. I was seated immediately and was ordering an appetizer within 5 minutes of being seated. I have never tried alligator and believe or not Crawdaddys has it on the menu. So my spontaneity kicked in and I ordered alligator. It was fried and came with hollandaise sauce. The alligator didn't really have a taste but was great with the spicy hollandaise sauce. I ordered catfish, grits fried green tomato and scrambled eggs off the Sunday brunch menu. The catfish was spectacular ,,,, flavorful and meaty. It paired nicely with the creamy well seasoned grits. Whomever made those grits put there foot in that!!! Can you say yummmy. I thought I was eating my grandmomma grits. The scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy they taste good as well. The fried green tomato could have used a little more seasoning in the batter. Came to this place on a whim after getting poor service at my favorite Mexican restaurant. I loved the atmosphere and they had a live band playing. I had my children with me and we were really excited about the menu options. When we sat down it took a few minutes to get our drinks and at one point another waitress asked if we had ordered drinks yet which I appreciated. However as time went on all we had were drinks and a plate of cornbread which my family devoured shortly after it came. My family and I sat there for 2 hours total waiting for our food that never came! Our waitress never came by to check on us, ask us if we needed anything, or to give us an update on when our food was coming. I watched several people come in after us and receive their food before us. I was very disappointed because the spot has the potential to be great. The location, the menu, the atmosphere...but the service is 1 star! My toddler was ready to have a meltdown by the time we decided to leave without our food. Eating in an otherwise empty dining room at 7:30 on a Friday night is never a good sign. I would still give five stars for food, but service is seriously lacking (shouldn't they know the menu by now?), and the beer list is really disappointing. Just having Abita on the menu is not enough for a Cajun restaurant when you only have Purple Haze. And two Mexican and one German beers? Where's New Orleans finest? Blackened salmon was delicious, as were crab cakes. Greens are fabulous, beignets are wonderful as are fried green tomatoes. Mac was kinda bland, but garlic mashed got high marks from M. Finally, we all miss the comfy charm of the old Reily St. place. The new place is cool and I hope they do well; but the old place was like being invited into someone's kitchen for dinner, warm and welcoming, with the whole family pitching in to make sure you had the best dining experience possible The new Crawdaddys is just a bar with a restaurant attached. The problem was that the prices were high and the portions were very small. $17 salmon salad and a $12 Cajun penne pasta that's came in a small side dish container. Dined here on Fat Tuesday (2/13/18) with my fiance and two of his siblings rounding out our foursome. We had come last year for this same occasion and this year was a sincere disappointment compared to last year! My guess is that last year, the joint received pretty substantial local media coverage, so the atmosphere was more festive and lively. For example, there were complimentary beads on the tables, and the menu featured beignets for dessert. This year, neither was the case. In fact, sadly, we were told there was no peach cobbler on the dessert menu, either. While the food was excellent (appetizers: collard greens and chicken egg rolls, gator nuggets; entrees: two etouffee, one jambalaya, one crabmeat stuffed catfish), we waited a while in spite of being the ONLY table in the main dining area for a majority of our dining experience (two tables were seated while we were finishing up). There was another event going on...apparently Crawdaddy's hosts a "Birthday Club" every Tuesday in the rear bar area, which seemed to take our server (and others) away from the front dining space. Having said that, our waitress, Jennifer, was friendly, apologetic, and attentive when she was present. I was even offered a complimentary adult beverage for having to wait for my entree longer than the others. So...overall, I look forward to coming back to Crawdaddy's and hope to be wowed again as I was last year. I look forward to a Saturday live jazz performance or Sunday brunch. But hopefully "Daddy" gets the message that as one of, if not the only, Cajun/Creole restaurants in the area, Mardi Gras should be celebrated with style! We stopped in after a basketball tournament on a Saturday evening. We were some of their first customers of the day. Needless to say we were seated fairly quickly. Shooby was our server. It was our first time there but it definitely won't be our last. Shooby was very attentive and accommodating. He made our visit feel like we stopped in to visit family. There were some minor hiccups on the food but he quickly addressed them. The food otherwise was delicious. The setting made me forget I was in Harrisburg. It had a chill Atlanta/Houston/N.O. vibe.
