My soror from out of town came to visit so we wanted to support a black owned business and I found this one on yelp review and it didn't disappoint. I was craving catfish and collard greens so I ordered that with Mac and cheese and my soror ordered candied yams and the food was finger licking good! They warned us the prices are much higher than what's on the menu because of inflation so we were warned. The hospitality was so good and the ambiance was nice and comfortable and intimate. I wish there was more advertisements for this restaurant it would go far. It's overshadowed by the hibachi and Mexican restaurant in the front and is kind of hidden in the back. We were deceived in the pricing of the food, condiments, service and gratuity. Upon ordered our food, we were not made aware of any increases in the pricing of the food. Our final check did not reflect what we saw on the menu. I would consider this purposeful deception of false advertisement. Since this was a stop through before we went to out social event, we only ordered enough to hold us until the event. We ordered a catfish dinner with sides, 2 drinks and 1 extra side of cabbage. My wife and i split a meal. The price of the menu vs charged price... 2 pc. Catfish dinner w/ 2 sides.......$17.99. Charged $23.99 extra side of cabbage was $6.99 ( vinegar for the cabbage $.99} An extra plate....$1.00 Because we shared a meal...$3.00 See actual menu and receipt in photos section. When we disputed the prices that we were charged by the server, he said, "You can talk to the owner, because on the menu it says prices subject to change." The owner told us that the menu is 5 years old and the prices were not the same due to an error on the part of the woman who made the menus (5 years ago). So this is our second visit to this location. This time we opted for take out. We ordered a four wing dinner with Mac n cheese and yams for the side. We also had a small sides of brown rice and yams. Our drinks were tea and lemonade. Everything was good!!! The wings are a good size and tasted very good. The yams were juicy, flavorful and just sweet enough. The brown rice had beans mixed in. Met a friend there to experience what turned out to be some damned good soul food in the Harrisburg area. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was IT SMELLED DELICIOUS. I initially didn't even hear the employee who greeted us because THE SMELL. Oh, yeah. After browsing through a well rounded menu, with specials written on the wall, I ordered the fried chicken (because...soul food) with the yellow rice, collard greens and cornbread. My dining companion ordered a half rack of ribs with the mac & cheese and greens and cornbread. (Dang, my mouth is watering, thinking about this...) First, the cornbread was the best cornbread I've ever had. Sweet, melt in your mouth deliciousness. Second, the collard greens were the best I've ever had. Seriously, I've had many collard greens and make them myself, but these were better than anything I've ever made. The chicken serving (four pieces) were HUGE, like fall off the plate huge. Oh, and delicious. My friend's ribs were amazing (so she reported), as were the mac & cheese and greens. The portion sizes were great, enough that I had some for lunch the following day. It was absolutely one of the better meals I've had in a long time, but it'll be a short time before I come back again. A hidden gem! My husband found this place thru google when we were craving some soul food. It's located in the cut so it's easy to miss. It's near the Sheetz gas station across from the Harrisburg Mall Bass Pro store. It's family owned. We met the owners, a husband and wife, and their daughter also. They were all super welcoming, we felt like family by the time we left! The wife Goldie is the main cook and the daughter also cooks. We ordered the fried chicken with Mac n cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes, potato salad, iced tea mixed w/ lemonade and a big slice of chocolate lemon cake. Yeah we went IN lol! Our favs were the Mac n cheese, potato salad & fried chicken (which was made fresh on the spot, light crispy deliciousness). The collard greens were a bit salty and sweet potatoes quite sugary, but otherwise the flavors were good. The drink was very tasty (super sweet) and the cake was whoa! Amazing! Kraft in the box MAC and cheese stove TOP stuffing out of the box.. canned gravy or jar. And my wings was definitely cooked a day or two earlier and warmed up in the the microwave.. how do I know because the foam container had a whole. So instead of changing the foam container. They just placed it in another container or maybe the put my food in two containers knowing the microwave would cause a whole when you heat food up in styrofoam. The food had no taste. Forty minutes in, I asked for a refund only to be told that they don't give refunds and that there were 10 orders ahead of mine and that's why I waited so long.
