I really wish I could say the service was amazing, it wasn't, we didn't get a refill of water once, and cups are empty. My mom got a drink and it ended up being way too spicy, she told the waitress and she suggested to bring something else but we still were charged. I was also charged $14 extra for the shrimp that wasn't very good.

We were thanked by the owner for coming in and were told that staying late was expected and well welcomed. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the music was a lot of fun. The restaurant faces the shore, so expect lovely views, especially around the golden hour. Overall, this place is an absolute gem. It's worth the trip from Boston or anywhere within a 50 mile radius, honestly.

Lastly, she was very confused about the celiac requirement. My friend has very serious issues with it and every restaurant we eat at with her has to have separate prep kitchens. She didn't seem to get that my friend could not have pita with the hummus. Maybe she didn't know what gluten-free or celiac was? But after some explanation and asking for veggies instead of pita, she offered cucumber. Then my friend ordered the chicken and asked for the celiac prep, the server just kind of dismissed it. When it came, the chicken had a crunchy crust on it, and we were just not sure if the server understood again, so my friend just didn't eat it out of caution. We were bummed as it seemed like a good place but the service just kind of ruined the meal. If this lady was new, we would recommend she shadow someone for a while so she can learn.

This was unfortunately my 3rd bad experience here. Went for my birthday after driving by and seeing it open outside. Walked down around 1/1:30 pm with my sister and friend and the outside bar had about 4 people at it (including a child). We decided to just sit at a table outside since the bar was full. A woman at the bar who was sitting, gruffly told us we had to let them know inside we wanted a table which I had intended to do anyway. Staff inside was super nice, Jackson told me it was fine and someone would be out. The server was fantastic and accommodating. We got chilly at table and moved to bar where there was sun and now open seats. We were told by man with child that the bar actually wasn't open even though they were eating and drinking there. We said we didn't care and server was happy to keep serving us there. The bartender for the outside bar, Noah, showed up to start setting up. He appeared to know the man with the child and the other woman and was very jolly to them. We were a different story. Noah was rude and not accommodating whatsoever. He seemed annoyed we were there at all. My boyfriend and I asked for a Kona and server said they were out, however, Noah was pouring Kona to get taps moving and I said "oh you have Kona out here". He rudely told me I could not have that as his bar was not open and Kona is "86'd" inside. I saw him pour a Kona for someone about 10 minutes later. The issue I continue to have here is it sometimes feels like an exclusive club and if you aren't in it you're treated poorly. It's sad because I wanted to love this place and tried it repeatedly only to be disappointed each time by staff and honestly sometimes patrons who think they own the inside bar. Everyone should be treated well, not just personal friends and acquaintances. We left immediately after feeling extremely uncomfortable by Noah. Our bill was far over $200 as we also ordered food. Be nicer Dockside! You're in a community you're not an exclusive club. read more

I had the most delightful meal at the Dockside pub in Swampscott -- easily one of the best local finds. The shrimp scampi was outstanding: perfectly cooked, garlicky, bright, and fresh, every bite tasted like summer by the water. Rebecca's service was next-level -- warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly, she made us feel like regulars from the moment we sat down. The whole place has a true community vibe: welcoming, lively, and clearly committed to top‑notch, fresh food served with care. The bang bang shrimp and the chicken tenders were absolutely delicious, but the calamari had absolutely no flavor. We were glad we tried it beforehand so we could make an informed menu decision. We reached out to begin booking about a year or so in advance. I will say, there were times throughout the planning process where my communications and emails went unanswered and I would have to send follow-ups to nudge for a reply. Other than that, our party went fantastically. We had about 120 people which was definitely maximum capacity. Its not the most visually pleasing room or lighting, but it did the job for what we needed. It got very hot in the room but we were able to open the windows which helped. The food was excellent and we could easily order more throughout the night if we needed it. We had cocktail shrimp as one of our items and the shrimp were enormous. We also had salads, charcuterie, bang bang shrimp, sliders, tenders, and more. The drinks were great and the bartenders and staff were so nice. Our party ended at 9 and most people left but we stayed until 10 with some of our friends to drink and dance and they didn't seem to mind at all. Overall it was a wonderful experience and the perfect start to our wedding weekend.
