Would have given four stars because we really enjoyed our meals for lunch today (turkey wrap and blacken Mahi Maho sandwich) AND they have gluten bread/buns. Sitting at the booth by the door spoiled our whole eating experience!! The door slams EVERY TIME someone comes in or out of the restaurant which then shakes whole booth and goes through your body. We found it difficult to ignore. They have to fix this as well as the "direct" personality from management when taking orders!!! read more

We went there for breakfast today. The tall dark-haired man who seated us was not very friendly, so my first impression wasn't the greatest. I don't know if he was the owner or an employee. If he was the owner, then he definitely needs to step it up and fake being friendly. Would it kill him to say, "Enjoy your meal." when he seats customers? We ordered coffee, a cheese and bacon omelette, cinnamon bun pancakes, and well done bacon. The food was decent enough but nothing great. The coffee was very strong, not hot, and tasted old. The second cup was better. If the coffee sits too long, they should throw it out, not service it to customers. The omelette was burnt and it didn't have very much bacon or cheese. Only one piece of toast came with it. Two pieces of toast is the industry standard. Lol. The hash browns were the shredded type, not sliced potatoes. They're not my favorite. My pancakes were thick and fluffy but I didn't love the cinnamon bun topping swirled on top. The food was served hot and brought directly from the kitchen by the cook. It cooled off fast though, because we were sitting directly under this big fan/light that was very effective at cooling off the entire restaurant. It must be great on a hot summer day. Today wasn't hot and I was freezing sitting under it. The waitress was nice enough but I don't appreciate being asked to tip a minimum of 20%, and up to 30%. It's ridiculous. Then the server stands there and waits for you to sign the check and fill out the tip on the machine because it's all electronic. It's annoying. I won't be returning to Dockside Diner mainly because of the food. I don't recommend it. Go to The Chicken or the Egg instead. The food is much better, especially the bacon and cheese omelette and they give you two pieces of toast! read more

It's a place to get a trusted meal, quickly. Is it the best food? No, but lots of variety and reasonable expectations will result in enjoying the meal. Our service was amazing, very attentive. The biggest downside is likely its size and location as sitting outside means listening to the cars on LBB but isn't overly disruptive. read more

Nice cozy little diner. Service was cheerful and pleasant. Staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I have to eat gluten free and our Ethan (our waiter) doubled checked with the chef to make sure my dinner was gluten free. I got the chicken stew with rice and beans it was definitely homemade and delicious. My wife got the squash ravioli in a sage and brown butter sauce. She said it was very light, fresh, and out of this world. My Mother-in-law got the coconut shrimp that she said that they were just perfect. The place, service, and food was exceptional all at a reasonable price. We are definitely going back. read more

A few weeks ago, I met my friend on Long Beach Island. She's a native of the area and suggested we go to the Dockside Diner. Atmosphere: As the name indicates, it's located right on the dock. You can watch the boats. The outside is rustic and made from wood. The inside is a small, shore diner. When we arrived for lunch, it was packed, and we sat outside. Coffee: The coffee was good, and the waitress refilled it often. Nothing stood out, but I have no complaints. Food: The Dockside Diner has all sorts of breakfast and lunch options. They are open on weekends for dinner too. Since it's along the shore, there are a lot of seafood options. I knew I wanted something seafood-related and decided on the Sailors Omelet which was stuffed with crab meat and topped with hollandaise sauce. It was delicious. I chose rye bread, which was drenched in butter, I could have used a little less, but it was good. The side hashbrowns were cooked with just a bit of crisp (my favorite). I enjoyed my meal and would order it again. Service: The waitress was friendly, and our food came out quickly. Overall Thoughts/Summary: I enjoyed the Dockside Diner. The meal was fresh, and there are so many different unique seafood options. The menu reminds me of a cute seafood cafe. read more

So, we've been going to Dockside for breakfast for years. Usually a long wait in the summer, any day, but the staff is friendly. Recently we tried their delivery for dinner. Complete disaster. I ended up driving down there an hour and a half after we ordered because, no food, no answer on the phone. They said their driver was missing, by choice. They remade my food, we ate over two hours after we ordered. Tonight we were going g to give them another shot and order dinner to be picked up. No answer on the phone for a half hour Not sure what happened to the Dockside, but it's not good. Maybe they should just stick to breakfast? read more

I have been coming to Dockside for a long time, and every time I go it is so consistent and so good. The food is delicious, from the eggs to the French toast. Our servers Addie and Meaghan were super friendly and made sure we were well taken care. Despite it being busy they always made sure we had everything that we needed. It feels so cozy every time you walk in, and I would highly recommend coming here for all family breakfast trips. read more

I don't normally leave reviews, but this dining experience really saddened me. I completely understand servers being busy and under pressure, however our server Addie seemed purely hateful. She never checked on our table, one half of our table had received their food and was almost finished before the rest of the groups food ever came out. When the food did finally come, it was cold. At the end of our experience when we asked for a receipt, Addie threw the receipt down on our table as she passed by without so much as a glance in our direction. We've been patrons of The Dockside for years so it was sad to feel so unwanted in a place we've enjoyed for so long. read more

What a find!! Drove past 2 local places with 90 minute waits on LB Blvd, and this caught our eye. Ate outside it was lovely. They brought ice water for the dog and gave him extra eggs! So pet friendly! For the humans, the food was fantastic- big portions, fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Take the extra 5 minutes and stop here for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I have been coming here for about eight years regularly every single summer, and I have never been disappointed. The staff is hardworking, the food is amazing, and the coffee is always fresh. You truly won't find a better breakfast on LBI! In recent years, breakfast specials have become a staple of Dockside, and they get better every single year. I'm writing this review in the off-season because I just started craving their avocado toast, and needed to make my feelings public. Fun, beachy favorites like the Man Overboard and the Crabby Benedict are delicious go-to's, while the Cinnamon Bun French Toast is a more delectable treat you'll want to order for the table. Personally, I'm a huge pancake fan, and the pancakes are (in my unbiased opinion) the greatest pancakes in the entire world. Plus, the seven-grain toast that they offer is really something special. While this place can get pretty busy in the summer, it's definitely worth the wait to hang out with friends and enjoy the waterfront views (make sure to ask for a booth by the water, the staff is always willing to accomodate)! Speaking of the staff, I've come to know them pretty well in my years of dining at Dockside, and I look forward to spending a few mornings each summer sitting at the counter and chatting with them. Pro-tip: Keep your eyes peeled for the really tall kid (I think his name is Keith? I can never remember) because he makes the BEST milkshakes, and will always recommend one to accompany your meal. Very enjoyable meal. Crab cake appetizer was tasty and unique (see photo). Linguine with clams was great (at $21) and fish and chips were really tasty thanks to firm haddock (no photo). Lobster bisque was a smooth, tasty soup (also no photo). Meatball special was good, tasted like a good meat mixture (see photo). The marinara on the meatball was super hearty and well worth it. We woke up & decided we wanted some good old fashioned diner omelettes for breakfast. The Dockside Diner was recommended to us, so we went. There was a large crowd outside, but we just slipped in to sit at the counter to get going to the beach faster. Our waitress came over promptly and took our drink orders and food. We ordered the corned beed hash omelette & the farmers omelette. We watched the servers hustle food out for about 30 mins before we were confused about where ours was... no update from anyone, but sitting near the kitchen we heard the commotion. I'm not sure if they were short staffed, the ordering system was delayed or what... ultimately we got our food after about 35-40 min wait. The corned beef hash omelette plate was completely cold, and the farmers omelette wasn't even the omelette. The farmers has: bacon, tomato, broccoli and Swiss. The omelette we received had: bacon, peppers, onions, feta. We ate it because we wanted to leave faster, but we will not be returning. It's a shame, the place has the bones to be a really cute old school diner! read more
