I am posting this review to warn local consumers about my experience with Makary Zaki / YM…read moreCarpentry. I paid upfront for agreed-upon work, but the contractor failed to perform the job. After multiple attempts to communicate, request a refund, and resolve the matter directly, including formal requests with clear deadlines, payment has still not been returned. This is to say nothing of the headache it was to coordinate these contractors during my project for the work that was completed. Routinely missed deadlines and showed up at all hours without notice or any communication whatsoever, except for frantic urgent requests for more money. Potential clients should exercise extreme caution and avoid any contact with this organization. It is my intention to litigate this issue to the fullest extent possible.

We HIGHLY recommend giving Darren an opportunity to look at your project…read more When is the last time you caught yourself (or your significant other) just staring at a floor for 10 minutes at a time? Because of Darren, we do it every day! Darren refinished a ~30 year old hardwood floor that had yellowed, shown wear from traffic, had missing pieces of wood, and damage from chemical spills. From the very first time I reached out, his communication was excellent. He visited our home to see the floor, take measurements, and recommend and explain a refinishing process. Darren gave us options for type of polyurethane, colors, finish (matte vs. gloss) while offering recommendations from his many decades of experience. Within several hours we had a very fair quote and were booked several weeks out. Darren spent a few days on property and was incredibly respectful of our home and us when we would ask a question or two. He worked his magic to sand and protect our floor to a condition we would have never expected - just see for yourself. Overall, working with Darren was an exceptional experience that greatly improved our living space for the next couple of decades and likely longer.

Liv Construction began work on Dec. 26, 2024 and finished 56 days later. I've waited to give a…read morereview to see how everything held up. It was a renovation of the kitchen, living area and bathroom, HVAC and On-demand Hot Water. Plus some outside work - pouring a concrete pad for gazebo and RV Port. While I personally like everyone that we worked with, we did have some problems during construction. Demolition workers almost removed the support beam to the house before my husband asked them to stop and check with contractor. Each time we brought a concern to the foreman, the answer was always the same, "What do you want me to do?" The answer was always the same, "I want you to fix it." This included: Kitchen cabinets that were installed 2 inches from the ceiling. Kitchen island was off center and was only fixed when my husband measured and showed them the discrepancy. The concrete pour for the gazebo was not framed correctly and needed a second pour of concrete. One corner is still not square. The joint between the pours is now cracking and the owner has stopped communicating. Concrete overflow was scattered in the far backyard and was never cleaned up. The gazebo walls were installed backwards. One door they installed has a huge gap and let in lots of cold winter air. They were unwilling to run an electric line to the kitchen island because they would have to drill into the concrete slab. No drop cloth was put down when they were drilling new holes in the ceiling for the HVAC vents. After about 10 months, the grout in the bathroom and kitchen was cracking. Glue from the tile dried on the outside of the tile and looked unsightly. The contractor gave us a one-year warranty, and some things were fixed, but they have stopped communicating.

We had a slight communication issue on scheduling but we worked through it - in fact, it actually made me think even higher of them because they can take constructive criticism.
