I stopped by The Dock Bookshop while I was out in the Ft Worth area supporting other Black owned businesses. They are an independent black owned bookstore that carries quite the collection - definitely titles and authors that you won't find in your average bookstore! The staff was very friendly and welcoming! My son LOVED the books that we purchased! He is big on science and it was amazing to see their selection that focused on STEM and even WOMEN in STEM! Representation matters and our children need to see books with characters that look like them. I will definitely be back! I've spent several years adding books to our collection with brown skinned characters. This bookshop has made it that much easier to add to our collection.

Nice open space and great selection. You can order online as well and they will ship to pick up. Not only books but apparel, accessories, incense, and body care. Good prices and a better alternative to the big corp.

Ask the Community - Dock Bookshop

Is this place open to go inside to look around? Pine ever answers the phone! Im traveling from Frisco and want to know beforehand. Thx

They've always been open when I popped in, but coming from Frisco I would definitely call first. Their operating hours might be compromised due to COVID 19.

Personally, I love stores with personality. You know the place, where there are little built ins for sitting, and slanted walls, and a wall of vintage books designed as art that make you stop and just want to take it in. Thats this place.... Just charming. The kids section is pure magic! Whomever designed it did it thoughtfully. There's a top shelf that really paints the picture. It has an umbrella with clouds on it, along with crowns and swords. It just makes you want to hang out in this room all day. And this room is filled with stories waiting to be told. Books waiting to be read. Chairs waiting for children to sit in them. Just lovely!

I love that they partner with local businesses and display local goods in the store. There's usually parking in the front and side of A House with Books. I perused their stickers and picked up a couple of them. They also have plants for sale near where seating for Casi Cielo is. I ordered the apple cider donut and the London fog (Jane Austen inspired). The cider was crunchy and sweet which paired well with the London fog. There's a beautiful story behind Casi Cielo and I enjoyed meeting the co-owner Marisa. I look forward to my next visit to A house with books.

From the few photos and the name, I thought it would be more of a children's bookstore but I was so wrong. As soon as you enter, the amazing staff welcomes you and is eager to help you find any books you are looking for. Right at the entrance they had the fantasy and romance section which is a personal favorite, and I immediately found a couple of books that have been on my list. I absolutely LOVED that they had self published books from indie authors, which is so rare to find at any local bookstore (you usually have to wait for them to be re-published by a publisher to find them anywhere besides Amazon). They also have a children's section which is super cute, and I found a couple of things for my little one. On the top floor they have a couple of couches for you to hang out and a section of used books. Frankly, this was one of the best bookstores I found in the DFW area, and I can't wait to come back and support them!

Friends of the Keller Library is actually a nonprofit that benefits the local library. Most of the books they sell were donated by people or other stores, and all the profits from the sales go back to supporting the library next door. I've been to other similar stores around the state and was pleasantly surprised at how organized this one is. The volunteers working there were also very friendly and helpful. I also like that they had a station with complimentary coffee for customers. They didn't have the largest selection of books, but the children's section was really nice so I would definitely recommend this place for families. Last but not least, they also had free magazines towards the back of the store which I thought would be great for school projects or vision boards.
