What a disaster and disgusting behavior from the manager working tonight 8.24. We tried to get a table and since the restaurant patio was completely empty we kindly requested to get a larger table. The manager responded rudely and aggressively: since you need a larger table and is 2 of you you can go somewhere else. How low class?? Man speaking to 2 ladies in such a disrespectful way. He obviously has an issue with female customers. Now we understand why the place is completely empty. read more

My fiancee is still talking about this meal months later, which should tell you how memorable it was. I am fascinated by Sardinia and its cuisine so we gravitated towards those dishes. We started off with pane carasau, a Sardinian flatbread that was as crispy as an Indian papadum. Very yummy. My girl's pasta was great. My wild boar stewed in wine over grilled polenta was as earthy and rich as I could have wished. We washed it down with an excellent cannonau. A must return to one of our favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. read more

What looks from the outside to be a small wine bar is actually a large restaurant featuring an array of Sardinian cuisine. My date and I arrived on a Friday night, it was pretty full in the front but we were able to score a table in the back. Not surprisingly they have a great selection of wine that you can get in your glass, half a bottle and a full bottle. Food wise there are plenty of options but might I recommend the (small) tagliere. A variety of delicious meats, cheeses, marinated olives and two types of bread including the crispy pane carasau it is sure to be a crowd pleaser. The only note I have is that it does feel slightly overpriced for what you are getting compared to some of the other restaurants in the area, so while I won't be coming here every week- I will for sure be back. read more

Amazing food their pistachio pasta is amazing came here for a friends birthday and the service was great

Great neighbourhood Italian spot. Inside feels like a rustic Italian villa complete with a bar and lots of sitting room. We asked to sit outside though, as the weather was nice. The Pistacchio Crostoni was the highlight here - a decadent, deeply satisfying pesto/pistachio mascarpone spread. The saltiness of the pesto cut the richness of the mascarpone beautifully, elevating a subtle sweetness. The cool temperature of the spread made it an almost refreshing way to start the night. My girlfriend and I both got the Malloreddus pasta. I'm generally not a huge fan of meat sauce (which I often find a bit bland), but the menu described it as a 'typical Sardinian dish' which piqued my interest. It was more or less as expected. The pasta itself was about the size and shape of Orzo, but more twisted like a Bucatini. The sauce I think could've used a little more salt, but that's just me. I could've predicted my take on it, and probably should've ordered something that matched my taste more. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely come back. read more

Where do I start! This place is AMAZING! From the moment you step in until you leave. The people are so nice and welcoming. I came from philly to visit a friend and we had dinner here on a Friday night. It wasn't at all busy but the weather wasn't all that great either. We all had appetizers and three pastas to share. I can't express how fresh and authentic everything was. The chef came out and spoke to us and gave us a history of how he became a chef. Straight from Italy to Brooklyn. In fact everyone in there was Italian. You can't get better than that. We ended up closing out the place. I will definitely be back!! read more

5+++ stars for atmosphere. Very unique spot that's incredibly cozy and somewhat reminiscent of North Africa, even though it's Sardinian. I haven't been to Sardinia so maybe it's like this? Felt exotic, warm, inviting, lovely. Interesting decor and bathrooms. Good wine list. We enjoyed what we got, but not so memorable I can tell you now. We shared: --Octopus. 2-3 stars and the least exciting thing. It was basically a GIANT plate of flavorless potatoes with a teeny amount of octopus tentacles. The octopus was delicate and flavorful but not the freshest or most flavorful I've had. The potato ratio was super-off, and the dish was filling, pricey, and unsatisfying. --Fregola with pistachio and mascarpone. Holy hell, was this amazing. One of the most unique and interesting dishes I have eaten of that region. Rich, intense, aromatic, succulent, with a bold texture. 5+++!! So good and one to go back for repeatedly. --Vegan meatballs: A tasty treat! Yum. 4+ stars. read more

Very nice and cozy restaurant, vintage furniture and nice atmosfere, very good food well presented and served. A place to recommend.

We finally ate here this week after months of living around the corner. The food was delicious! The burrata was the freshest I've ever had and the meatballs were a great starter. I'm gluten free and had the scallops which were excellent, but they also have a GF pasta option I'll try next time. Cute little neighborhood place and excellent service. read more

Now I know why this bar is called DOC instead of DOCG: it does not accept credit cards. The wine list here is great. There is a wide selection of wine, especially by the bottle; the glass list is nice but of course not as extensive. The staff is friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was pretty good. So why three stars? Like I said before, it's a cash only wine bar. I was super disappointed to learn that and left after only one glass. Why make a wine bar cash only? It severely limits how much you can drink, and at a place that serves wine, I love ordering all night and often end up with more glasses than I originally planned... yet DOC makes this impossible. It gets pretty crowded here so reservations are recommended. But it is unlikely I'd ever come back unless they started accepting card, so I can freely order all the wine I want without having to worry about carrying that much cash or finding an ATM that won't charge me excessive withdrawal fees. Great wine list though, it really is a shame. Update: I guess they accept Amex. Most places that only take Amex are luxury stores, not wine bars in Williamsburg, and even they have been doing away with the practice lately. Hopefully more cards (Visa, Mastercard) become accepted here someday. read more

Overpriced and disappointing delivery experience. Thought I was treating myself to dinner, but for a $32 entree plus tax, the branzino meal I received was extremely disappointing. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be trying this menu again. read more

My partner and I stumbled across this cozy little place while staying in an Airbnb in Williamsburg for the weekend. I told my husband I wanted real Italian while we were visiting the big city and he found DOC within minutes! We were greeted immediately by the bartender at the time, Ezekiel I believe. He made our dinner so memorable tonight, I was blown away by the service and friendliness we were shown. The salmon special is absolutely amazing so if you're stopping by DOC you should definitely try it. We will be saving this spot on our google map for future visits to the city! read more

Dining at Doc Wine Bar is like feeling in Italy....actually in Sardinia. Everything reminds you of that beautiful Region: the food, tasty and special, the wine, everything around you including the restroom made in Sardinian theme with stones...and taste. I have been here few times and finally met the hosts Claudio & Rossana, a beautiful and nice couple who will entertain you with their stories while enjoying the food. If you wish to have great food and enjoy a nice atmosphere, this is the place where to go. read more

We went there in August. Very nice place, especially inside, in true Sardinian style. Very friendly italian staff and great food. In particular, I would point out the fregola (a Sardinian dish), the burrata, and the porcini noodles. I like it without cheese, but if you like cheese on porcini, you can ask for it separately. Important wine list. Great at the end of the evening even just for a good glass of Negroni. read more

Highly recommend this hidden gem located just a few blocks from the Bedford L train stop. The ambiance with real candles at each table set the stage for an authentic Italian dinner. While I'm not going to act like I'm a wine connoisseur (the wine list was quite long), the bottle of red we got hit the spot. We started off with the meatballs that made me want another portion immediately, however that went away when the Spaghetti Bottarga and Grilled Scallops arrived next. Delicious all around, good sized portions, and the service was excellent - would definitely return next time in the area. *AMEX/CASH ONLY read more

DOC executes the rustic, candlelit charcuterie shtick with considerable warmth (thanks to flaskos and carafes-) and affordable grace (-of nice Beginner Reds). Light Italian dinner snacks like paninis, crostini, salads and soups (~$10) may be enjoyed in spacious dining area, but as a postprandial destination, DOC is one helluva wine bar. Snag a table for two and a $30 bottle; lean intensely into good conversation as the wax tears fall from the tall, lone light between you and your companion. Drink liberally; reflect upon life, love and the future. Temper tipples with an impromptu cheese platter, delivered on thick cuts of thick-crust bread. Share final secrets and swigs as the hour grows late and the candle dwindles. Teeter out, and smoke a cigarette. Rudely recollect that you're in Williamsburg, and not Chianti, scowl, get over it, and go home. read more

Stopped by without a reservation on a Saturday night and luckily, they squeezed us in. We found ourselves the only people seated in a rather large back area. The front of the restaurant definitely has all the character, but we were hungry and not in the mood to complain about lack of ambiance. There's an extensive wine list and you can get a large carafe for a decent price. As for the food, it was good, but I wouldn't rave about it. What I would rave about is the tiramisu - seriously, some of the best ever. I'd grab a drink and dessert if I found myself in the area again, but would opt elsewhere for dinner. read more

When I lived in Williamsburg, my friends and the local neighbors absolutely raved about this place. But for some reason, my wife and I always had a premonition that any trendy restaurant talked up this much would never live up to the hype. So when we returned to Brooklyn recently for a friend's birthday party, we were excited to finally try D.O.C. and see what it was all about. Unfortunately, I can only rate it mediocre at best. While both the service and the ambiance were top notch, the food was just disappointing. An orecchiette special I ordered was al dente to the point of being almost crunchy, and the spicy tomato sauce it was served in didn't have a lick of heat. Perhaps most disappointing was that the dish was supposed to be served with crispy pancetta, but it was virtually non-detectable. Too bad, since this is one of my favorite classic dishes. We were also excited to try the pesto bread, but the pesto was extremely bland and lacked any saltiness that you would have expected from the Pecorino. Maybe it was the Pistacchio pesto they brought us, and not the classic pesto as I had thought, but whatever it was missed the mark with me. Much better was the meat and cheese plate, which is generally difficult to screw up. My wife also enjoyed her Trophie pasta -- fresh twists cooked in a red wine reduction sauce with caramelized onions, and topped with fresh goat cheese. If you like that rich, brownish-reddish, stew-like sauce, then this dish is for you. Another favorite of mine to order in better Italian restaurants are white cannellini beans, traditionally cooked with tomatoes, garlic, shallots and rosemary. I tried D.O.C.'s version of this classic, but unfortunately like some of our other dishes it was completely bland and uninteresting. Such a shame. All in all, though, there were enough hits around the table to offset the misses, and given the impeccable service and overall festiveness of the occasion, I am still compelled to give a 3-star review. But with so much good food in Williamsburg, I would not recommend nor return to D.O.C. again any time soon. read more

I do love my wine. So when I went here, I was a bit shocked to see a selection of easy-to-find $10 wines being pawned off for $7-$10 a glass. The most outrageous part ? They measure the amount of wine before putting it in the glass! Wow, that really got my goat. How cheap can you get? The least any wine bar can do is pour the wine directly into your glass to at least give the illusion that you're not getting swindled. To precisely measure out stingy portions from a $10 bottle of wine and charge $10 for it? See ya... At Trader Joe's you can get an Organic Primativo for $5.99 that is superior in quality - and a log of Italian salami for the price of one glass of wine here. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable service. Great Italian wine selection. Excellent small plate options. Location is right in the heart of trendy hipster Williamsburg. I don't consider myself trendy at all but the servers never let my wife and I feel out of place in this hipsterish young 20-30 something crowd. We had a table outside facing the street so we could watch the trendy people walk by. Not sure when I'll be back in Williamsburg but I did like DOC. I'll go back definitely if I return to this part of Brooklyn. read more

Slice cheese, arrange on plate...serve? Apparently too hard for the folks at D.O.C. Wine Bar. A table next to us--who arrived quite a while afterwards--received steaks before my table received a "specialty" cheese plate. After asking for it, the waiters were completely unapologetic and snotty. And after asking for our bill a couple of times, we just threw money on the table and got the hell out of there. read more

A pretty big disappointment. Pleasant, attentive, informed service and a reasonably rustic and comfortable room, yes, but truly lousy food. The olives tasted canned, the blue cheese on the salad was cheap and acidic (in an unpleasant, poorly balanced way) and my mozzarella and tomato panini was really, really bland. The last straw was the hazelnut "gelato." Tasted like A&P brand, or something. My guess is a LOT of the stuff they serve comes from one of those Cisco "food service" providers. Put it this way: there's a pretty big difference between truly good food and not good food, and virtually everything that made its way across our table was dreadfully subpar. The wine? We were a little cheap--a $38 bottle of Vermentino, which was serviceable, but nothing more than that. There are some insanely ritzy bottles on the list, so I'm certain you can do much better, if you're willing to spend for it. read more

This is not your typical Italian restaurant. Authentic dishes from Sardinia. The menu contains traditional Sardinian dishes that people still eat in Sardinia today. Since there are more centurions in Sardinia than practically anywhere else on the planet, it might be a good idea to eat what they are eating! The quality of the ingredients is very high. They are clearly sourcing their ingredients from smaller artisanal producers which makes a big difference. This is homemade food at very fair prices. I've eaten here two times and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite Italian restaurants in NYC. I travel to Italy on a regular basis so I know what quality and authenticity should taste like. truly transports you to italy. I lived in italy for a year and this is as close as it gets in America to my favorite places in tuscany. the outdoor seating is charming and the rustic inside is perfect for an intimate meetup with an old pal or a first date. a lovely menu - lots of small plates, cheeses, contorni, crostini. the italians would call it stuzzichini. so many other options on the menu were inviting as well. Service was attentive but not invasive. we never felt rushed. no loud music...excellent wine list...why oh why are you all the way in brooklyn! (oh i know, bc f you were in manhattan, i'd never be able to get an outdoor seat on a thursday!) the back of the restaurant is HUGE and lovely as well. i want to move to bk so I can make this my place. read more

Can't believe that I haven't stumbled on this place before. Excellent wine bar in Williamsburg: they have a great selection of bottles, most of which are available for a sizable $3 taste. The menu piqued my interest and the food looked and smelled great, but I will be honest and say that my friend and I stuck to the meat and cheese plate for a snack. The m/c plate was okay, but next time I'd just get the meat plate as the cheeses were unexciting to say the least and the meats were quite good. Also, you can order the plate for one person or two, but our server recommended that we split the one person since the two person option was really meant for large parties. If I actually lived in Williamsburg, I think this place would fast become my after work standby. read more

Outstanding food and great staff. I'm excited to see a Sardinian owned restaurant in the area with classic, authentic Sardinian dishes and beautiful country house decor - and high standards. A perfect date spot. Rustic wooden tables, low lighting, heavily accented Sardinian owners and wine by the carafe. Definitely not a place to come have a big birthday party or for beers with a big crew. But it is what it is and you probably can't find a more laid back, quiet, romantic bar on the north side. As a side note, I thought that I left a bag there and came back the next morning. The owners looked everywhere and appeared geniunely concerned. They called the people who were working the previous night all to no avail. About an hour later, they called me saying that they had looked through the surveillance tapes and confirmed that I didn't have a bag with me when I walked in. So I called the place I was previously and sure enough they had it. I was really impressed with their concern and effort. So the owners' generosity and care for their customers make me even happier to give this place a good review. read more

This quaint, cozy, and romantic Williamsburg cafe has quickly become one of my favorite places in the city. I went there for a very relaxing, European-style dinner (read 3+ hours) and had a fantastic evening. The staff was very knowledgeable and fun; our two waiters recommended a wonderful bottle of Sicilian wine, were very attentive, and overall provided excellent service. Both of us tried their special, a lovely and very Italian pasta dish, and their chocolate dessert. We were definitely satisfied with everything. I'm also very surprised to read the low score reviews. My experience was nothing but positive. If you are looking for a place to have a romantic evening with someone you care about, this is absolutely you place for you! read more

DOC Wine Bar - Sardinian Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

Loved the very friendly and informative sommelier and the delicious wine. Even better they have tastes and glasses. WORD. And I had a delish pistachio pesto crostini, but the cheese plate was major lame. It was like 4 pieces of cheese and I couldn't taste the truffles at all. Plus the cheese itself was basically like Swiss with a few truffle shavings. Nothing to write home about. But I liked it enough to go back. The decor is very old-school Italy or maybe Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But that cheese plate better be good next time. read more

I came in here for the first time last summer, after walking past it for years, never looking in - and my gosh how I've been missing out! Inside has a cosy, kind of rustic vibe, with super friendly, cheerful and helpful staff. I usually come here or order delivery from here once a week, with my favourites being the portobello salad (with all sorts of delicious nuts and things in it), the spinach ravioli or the porcini fettuccini which is amaaaazing. Agree with below that it's pretty annoying that you can only pay by cash or Amex (which is why it loses one star) but there's an ATM on the block, so if you get your act together to get some money out, it's well worth your trouble! read more

Just took my parents here for Mother's Day weekend - our first time dining indoors since all being vaccinated - and everything was AMAZING! We could not have asked for a better experience all around, and I'm mad at myself for living in Brooklyn for the past 6 years (working down the street no less) and only just discovering this place now! Solid 5 stars for the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised to find they have a full bar in addition to the Italian wine selection, and they make great martinis. For dinner, we ordered about 6 appetizers and 2 entrees to share, and everything was so freaking good! Stand outs among the appetizers were vegan meatballs, risotto cake, and pistachio pesto crostini, and the Branzino was cooked to perfection with the most outstanding flavors. I will mention it was a little dark inside and my parents totally had to use their phone flashlights to read the menu, but no real complaints since the overall aesthetic and vibe was really quite pleasant. Seriously already thinking about my next visit! read more
