I've had Doc Savage service our AC/Furnace before a few years back and this experience was the same. Very professional, very courteous and never a push to upsell while still rightly recommending a service agreement to help save money in the future. You really can't go wrong with these guys and their training is obviously second to none. I'd recommend Doc Savage for any HVAC work, large or small. Don't take chances with your hard earned dollars! Use the best! read more

"It is under warranty, but my manager still insisted I charge you something." - Doc Savage Technician Had Doc Savage replace my AC unit a short while ago, which included replacing my thermostat with a Doc Savage-branded unit. Recently the thermostat started turning off automatically, most likely due to low batteries. Due to the way that they installed it, I was unable to get the battery compartment open and was forced to call them to come out and service it. It cost $99 dollars for them to come out, which is annoying but typical, and I was assured on the phone that should be my only expense since all of my equipment is still under warranty. The technician came by this morning, and after examining the equipment he said he thought it was a low battery issue. He then told me that he could see that when they installed the thermostat, they also installed a power line that would eliminate the need to deal with batteries at all, they just never hooked it up (and remember, this is all Doc Savage purchased and installed equipment - the "they" is Doc Savage). NOBODY even told me that was an option when they installed it, or asked me what I would prefer. The technician finished his work and told me it would be $99 for the visit, which I knew, and then $74 for actually fixing the issue. I told him that his office told me over the phone yesterday that all my equipment is still under warranty, to which he replied that he would need to call in and check. He went outside and placed his call, and returned with the line that I opened this review with: "It is under warranty, but my manager still insisted I charge you something." WHAT. THE. F***. He said in an attempt to "meet me halfway", they would bring the extra charge down from $74 to $9. I don't like to take out my frustrations with a company on their rank and file, so I just bit the bullet and paid the extra $9 (for a total of $108), and I hope Doc Savage enjoys it, because it is the last money they will EVER see from me. This entire experience should and could have been avoided in the first place if they had installed the unit properly, and/or asked my preference as to whether I wanted battery or hardwired power, and then to essentially steal from me by admitting that they shouldn't be charging me at all, but the manager insisted??! Yeah I'm done with this company, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid them as well. The technicians are nice, personable people, but there's something deeply wrong with the management. read more

EDIT: Have to edit this review and knock them back two whole stars. Why? Because their service department is a ripoff. Our upstairs thermostat stopped working. A Doc Savage service guy came out and simply replaces a $5 part in about three minutes. He instantly knew exactly what was wrong. He then went out and vacuumed out the drain pipe from outdoors. I loaned him my shop vac and set him up with my extension cords. Okay, fine... simple fix, and basically needed because they left pipe shaving in the system (he showed me). He originally said it was covered under warranty, which was proper. But after doing the repair and calling in again he said "they" told him it was not, and the charge was $219. That's complete BS, and I swore that moment I'll never call them for service again. In fact, I'm doing my own yearly service as far as vacuuming out the system, etc. So the installation crew was truly excellent, but they seem to depend on service as a revenue stream, and it's hideously expensive. You can choose any service company you want - I'd recommend an independent crew, or learn to do basic service yourself if you're handy. read more

Doc Savage Heating and Air Conditioning - Heating & Air Conditioning/HVAC Near Me - Augusta, Georgia

Doc Savage's customer contract for regular service calls requires that the customer provide notice in writing when they desire to discontinue service. Three or four years later, if you call them to stop service, they will NOT remind you that they also expect it in writing, and they will continue to bill you for service even if you no longer live at that address. Once you figure out that you are billed for service that you did not desire and had notified by phone call, they will NOT refund the costs for a service you did not need or want. Their failure to remind you of their policy, years after they sent you the policy, represents poor customer service. read more

Great experience....Don was my tech and he showed me all the things that the SigCox company missed or said they did and didnt do. Pricing on parts was a bit higher than it should be but no worse than the rest of the industry. I'll stick with these guys. read more

Doc savage quoted upwards of 3k to fix a system less than three years old. Second time I've gotten an outrageous repair quote from them. The second tech from doc savage told me the fist guy didn't do the proper semi annual maintenance. I have promise that they will refund the service call fees. No one can replace the trust I had in HVAC companies. Doc savage is the worst offender of laying blame. When confronted with the truth they cry like a baby and run away. read more

Easy to work with and they did excellent work. They made sure to answer all my questions and anticipate my questions, so I could make an informed decision on my install. Unforeseen complication with install came up a few weeks after installation. I called and they came same day to fix the issue. Technician told me what was going on and how they planned to fix it. The unit itself was fine, just the gradient for condensation flow out of the attic wasn't steep enough and had to be adjusted. read more

They came to troubleshoot why my unit was frozen over. It cost $95 for him to show up and $150 for him to blow a heat gun over the coils for 15 minutes. He said it would be another $150 to replace a functional but out of tolerance capacitor ( held in by 2 screws and cost $18 from grainger). Kept trying to up sell their "annual" maintenance plan b/c it would discount any part & labor. Ends up my TXV was bad but he wanted to replace the entire coil (another $600 quote). All total, they charged me $250. My new guy charged me $200 for his visit, new TXV, and installation. I don't doubt that it would have worked when they were done but do your due diligence and don't call the first guy in the book like I did here. read more

Very happy with our experience working with Doc Savage. Our AC broke down in the middle of the summer and they replaced it quickly, explaining exactly what was wrong and what they were doing to fix it. They continue to check in and make sure it's still working well for us. read more

Rudy is an excellent mechanic! Discussed pricing at the outset. No surprises. He was polite, courteous, and thorough diagnosing the HVAC system. Checked the Tstat, breaker, filter, pressures, capacitor. Highly recommend him for AC service. Excellent response time from DocSavage as well!!! read more

Quick polite service; high cost. I approved charges due to it being an emergency. I called to complain about it being 3 times the amount it shoud be. They took a little off, but it was still more than twice what it should have cost according to other local companies. read more

Had Savage to install new HVAC with one year warranty. Less than a few months, unit got caught smoke. Called for service and received a bill - let me remind, ONE YEAR warranty. Called and emailed Savage for explanation several times - no answer. Now unit has no heat, still under warranty. They refuse to fix the problem because of a bill outstanding! How is that supposed to be called? Low quality work and no integrity these people have, that's all i have to say read more

Decided to submit this review because I will soon be relocating after having enjoyed an excellent 21-yearlong working relationship with this company. In addition to twice yearly maintenance on my two units, other services have included installation/replacing HAC units, digital thermostats, inside flow vents, attic fans, etc. Service has been provided to my satisfaction; and to my recollection, there was only one time where a return visit had to be made to correct an issue. The office ladies are always courteous, try to schedule according to your availability, and, if not the tech himself, always let you know if a tech is running behind schedule. Having been a long-time customer, I've had contact with numerous team members all of whom have been business friendly, respectful of me and my property, careful to clean up as needed, and seemingly knowledgeable of their jobs. There is always, however, that favorite, and for me it has been Don. He seems to go that little extra mile when providing services, answering questions and offering preventive education. Thanks for the service, Doc Savage! read more
