"It is under warranty, but my manager still insisted I charge you something." - Doc Savage…read moreTechnician Had Doc Savage replace my AC unit a short while ago, which included replacing my thermostat with a Doc Savage-branded unit. Recently the thermostat started turning off automatically, most likely due to low batteries. Due to the way that they installed it, I was unable to get the battery compartment open and was forced to call them to come out and service it. It cost $99 dollars for them to come out, which is annoying but typical, and I was assured on the phone that should be my only expense since all of my equipment is still under warranty. The technician came by this morning, and after examining the equipment he said he thought it was a low battery issue. He then told me that he could see that when they installed the thermostat, they also installed a power line that would eliminate the need to deal with batteries at all, they just never hooked it up (and remember, this is all Doc Savage purchased and installed equipment - the "they" is Doc Savage). NOBODY even told me that was an option when they installed it, or asked me what I would prefer. The technician finished his work and told me it would be $99 for the visit, which I knew, and then $74 for actually fixing the issue. I told him that his office told me over the phone yesterday that all my equipment is still under warranty, to which he replied that he would need to call in and check. He went outside and placed his call, and returned with the line that I opened this review with: "It is under warranty, but my manager still insisted I charge you something." WHAT. THE. F***. He said in an attempt to "meet me halfway", they would bring the extra charge down from $74 to $9. I don't like to take out my frustrations with a company on their rank and file, so I just bit the bullet and paid the extra $9 (for a total of $108), and I hope Doc Savage enjoys it, because it is the last money they will EVER see from me. This entire experience should and could have been avoided in the first place if they had installed the unit properly, and/or asked my preference as to whether I wanted battery or hardwired power, and then to essentially steal from me by admitting that they shouldn't be charging me at all, but the manager insisted??! Yeah I'm done with this company, and I strongly advise anyone reading this to avoid them as well. The technicians are nice, personable people, but there's something deeply wrong with the management.

Doc Savage's customer contract for regular service calls requires that the customer provide notice…read morein writing when they desire to discontinue service. Three or four years later, if you call them to stop service, they will NOT remind you that they also expect it in writing, and they will continue to bill you for service even if you no longer live at that address. Once you figure out that you are billed for service that you did not desire and had notified by phone call, they will NOT refund the costs for a service you did not need or want. Their failure to remind you of their policy, years after they sent you the policy, represents poor customer service.

I am writing this review because of the experience with this company. I thought that they would…read moretreat us well because of being used by the builders of our home. I am sharing this because of my disappointment. We were unlucky. At first we had the appointed employee come faithfully. We were happy for a while, however, we always saw various pests in between. My husband convinced me that you can't get them all. However, I felt that it could get better. I called the office to request the appointed employee to spray inside. He had usually sprayed outside. He came inside once. We have had this service since April, 23. The one time he came in, we discovered only one ant that was seen. We were happy, however, during the next visit, I asked the appointed employee to come inside, however, he stated that he didn't need to and he was spraying something outside that should help. However, about a week or so later, all-----broke loose. We had ants everywhere. The bathroom, baseboard, etc. They agreed to return again for $91 charge for October. By then, the ants had moved to the kitchen area. We discovered that they were in the sink, some cabinets, behind the stove and even in the Refrigerator! We were in trouble. We cancelled our service and because of that we paid for October and they stated that the pest control and termite control were connected. We had to pay $300 also. Unfortunately, we kept the termite service. I am terribly upset with our results for the pest control. I hope we don't feel the same about the termite control. I have not experienced this even in older homes. I don't understand what happened.......?
