Typical roadhouse. Food pretty good. Service okay. Will go back. Not a-lot of choices in area.

Doc Holidays is one of Williston ND's better places to eat. The service can be slow--depending on who's working, but the food is usually pretty good. The best part of the restaurant is the atmosphere and nostalgia. read more

Yay, a new option in good ol' Willy town!! Although I don't live there anymore, my other half still works up there, so I decided to be a good sport and make a trip up there over the 4th of July weekend to visit him and friends. We decided to try out this restaurant on the actual 4th and it was a GREAT experience. From what I understand, it had only been open a week or two...but it far surpassed any dining experience that I've ever had in Williston. Our server was very attentive, drinks and food showed up quickly, and the manager even checked in on us. I'm only giving it 4/5 stars because I still think the prices are a little high even if the service is good. Yes, our steaks were excellent...but it's not a fancy steakhouse so no need for prices that are climbing towards steakhouse prices. You're still surround by clientele in their coveralls people...come on. Anyway, I highly suggest Doc Holliday's the next time you have the good fortune of eating out in Williston :-P read more

I've been to Doc's a few times (mainly because I was meeting people there), and I thought it time to finally write a review. The location used to be Trappers Kettle restaurant, and the new owners have transformed the place into a rustic, new western themed bar/restaurant. I think they've done a pretty good job with the remodel, and they have outdoor seating for those rare warm Summer days/nights. They do have some booths, and larger tables in the front of the restaurant which is suitable for families... and the back is dedicated to the bar area with barrels for tables. The menu is limited, with the typical local fare: Burgers, chicken sandwiches, steak, sliders, a couple of salad choices, etc. The food is average, definitely nothing to rave about (the fries are good!). You'll struggle to find a healthy choice. The value is poor. Very $$ for what you get. We've had one good server, the rest of them were so so. The female servers definitely have a rough girl type of edge to them. Not sure if they are trying to look/act rough to be in character of the western theme, or if they actually are that crass naturally. Nonetheless, the 'tough' girl attitude is all over Williston, so not surprising. This place will fill your belly, but won't leave you with a good taste in your mouth or make you smile with memories. read more

The atmosphere was awesome! Being a big fan of Doc Holliday and all the legend that surrounds him, I was pretty excited to try this joint out. Walking up to the door is odd and you almost feel as you are about to walk in through the back because of the lack of lighting and strange configuration of the welcome area. However, all is forgiven when you see the rustic decor of old head gate wood used to frame the building. And the majority of the patrons tend to be oil field workers her because of the boom, harkening back to the Wild West during the gold rush. This is ever more evident in the OK Corral (the bar area) which boast pictures of Doc and Wyatt as well as stories of other famous Cowboys/outlaws like Jesse James. The staff was very friendly and provided prompt service. I got the 10oz Top sirloin and Mrs. Hoss got the Frackin Chicken. Both portions were of good size, which was good considering this place turned out to be waay over priced. For me to get an entree and Mrs. Hoss to get her an appetizer as a meal $50 was rather ridiculous especially after seeing the quality of the food. Her chicken could have used a little less time in the fryer. It was over done almost to the point of inedibility. My steak was the most disappointing however. While being cooked perfectly, the quality of the steak left much to be desired. It reminded me if a bigger version if the swill Golden Corral tries to pass off as prime choice. After a bit if complaining my wife reminded me we were really there for the name and the atmosphere, which I really enjoyed (not enough to ever return, but was good enough to appease me with the subpar food). Also, they are missing out on a huge opportunity. The have a drink called I'm Your Huckleberry, but what they really need is an I'm Your Huckleberry Steak Challenge. That would be awesome! I would return for that. They could give away a shirt and a pair of replica Navy's to the winners of the challenge! read more

In town for work, this option was close to our hotel. The Monday special was any beer $2 with a burger, so my coworkers and I all got that. The burgers were great, nothing fancy but tasted great and hit the spot. Fries were also good. I'd definitely go here again. read more

Been here twice. There shall not be a third time. Overpriced.. food sucks and was cold BOTH times I was there. The menu is sooooo limited. It reminds me of the my cousin vinny menu (breakfast $.99, lunch $1.99, dinner $2.99) I couldnt even stomach the burger the second time. Like any restaurant that has just opened up, there are definitely a few quirks to work out. I didn't have the greatest time here, the food was just kind of ok and the service was horrendous, But I'd come back in a few months to give it another shot because I really did enjoy sitting out on the patio and having drinks with friends. read more

Came in hungry and tired at 10:30 PM. We were told the kitchen was closed after our hotel staff told us they were open until 11:00. We asked how late they were supposed to be open, but the wait staff played dumb. They told us we could get a beer, but that was it. Bummer. read more

I have been in Williston, ND for 6 months. This place had best food and customer service I have had since being in the area. The place wasn't dusty and dirty like most of the places here. I enjoyed the food so much, I went back the next day. The experience was the same; great. read more

Decided to check out Doc's over the lunch break since they have a new menu. Our party of six had a great experience. Atmosphere was great; love the decor. They were busy but not packed. We were greeted immediately and knew our waitress. She checked on us twice before we were ready to order, just because we were so busy catching up we took some time to look over the menu. I had the Frackin Chicken and bowl of chicken tortilla soup. Others in our party had the chicken philly sandwich, turkey chili with the side of mac n' cheese (to die for.. just like grandma's), taco salad, citrus chicken salad and we also ordered a side of the corn casserole and the homemade BBQ chips just to try them out. No complaints. The corn casserole was really good, too. It is kind of like cornbread but with more texture.. creamy on the inside with the buttery salt notes of corn, and the perfect amount of cinnamon laced butter on top. We found out they had a signature dessert, too, called the B.A.D. (big ass dessert) and this thing comes in a giant margarita glass and must weight about six pounds. I saw the other reviews regarding prices.. they must have come down. For drinks, dessert, meals, appetizer, everything it was $96. We would recommend to friends. read more

I work in a bar and restaurant and have for many years so I'm pretty forgiving on service and the staff but I have to say this was some of the worst service I have ever encountered. It all began when we entered the front doors and the two hostesses who were anything but busy ( which I came to the conclusion by one of the girls applying makeup and messing with her hair and the gal blankly staring into the abyss ) both gals were anything by helpful. When we asked if we could sit on the patio they simply stated there may be something open go ahead and look. Never being to this restaurant we worked our way through the mostly empty dining room and almost deserted bar. Upon finally finding the mostly hidden patio door we found a seat outside. Little did we know this is were the service would define the epitome of horrible service. After watching one server sit with a group of guys for a good ten minutes without even acknowledging our existence and another server stopping to take not only one picture session but two my husband started to become annoyed. We had now been sitting at the table for fifteen minutes without even a hello ( I'm a server if someone would have I'm so sorry I'm busy I'll be right with you I would have gladly waited with complete patience and understanding). Finally after my husband went in and asked for service a gal comes by and takes our drink order (still no menus for food). Ten minutes later no and drinks and another girl comes by and asked if we needed drinks we told her we had given an order to the other girl she replied with "oh well she's really busy in the bar I'm taking over your table" at this point i don't give a shit who waits on us I would just like a drink. We eventually get our drinks and food menuss. We order an appetizer and wait. Our server comes back and takes our food order. At this point we our just enjoying our view of three dirty tables with no one at them and a relatively empty restaurant. Another couple comes to the patio and sets at one of the tables, which they begin cleaning up, three different servers walk by ignoring the dirty table and the couple sitting at it. Finally my husband mentions to a server that the table is dirty and the couple has been waiting awhile. Well finally our appetizer arrives with a our salads then followed by our dinner 2 minutes later ( have these servers never heard of staging food). The food was not worth the headache since the chicken wings were cold and my steak was tough. While waiting for our server to come back and just check in us the table next to us receives their food and simply states that they were suppose to get a salad before dinner and never did. The girl says she will grab their server. A different girl comes out and asked what wrong the table asks where is the other girl and she states the ridiculous line we first heard when we got there she's really busy in the bar and I'm taking over. WTF I couldn't get out of this place fast enough. I do have to say there was a lady who was obviously not working but was an employee who was great (I believe she was a cook) she was the only person in the who restaurant that I came in contact with that was worth a shit. Every one should take there tips from Sunday may 25th and five them to her since she is the only one deserving of them!!!!!! Stay away from this place go to McDonald's you'll be happier. read more
