James was able to get to our apartment within a few hours, I'm very grateful for how quickly he got back to me. My boyfriend isn't an acupuncture skeptic per se, but he's less likely to turn to it than I am so I was a bit apprehensive about it but he LOVED James. They bonded over basketball (the injury was basketball related) and James had very very thorough knowledge about sports injuries. It was incredibly impressive. He even offered strengthening exercise for my boyfriend to do, and advised us on an herbal tincture to take the swelling down which really worked. A week later I saw James for some digestive issues and also had a fantastic session. I really left feeling so much better and hopeful that I could resolve a semi-chronic issue. Other people note that he is so gentle, I really felt that too. Most importantly, I've been healing up nicely. Really couldn't be happier and feel like I have a great practitioner in my corner, in my neighborhood. Very lucky me. Would give 6 stars if I could.

I have come to rely on her and trust her opinion completely. She also takes most insurances with acupuncture in their offerings, which is a plus. Her space is relaxingly Zen and I look forward to my sessions. You will literally float out of this oasis after every appointment. I was having severe spasms and had tried everything: PT, pain meds, injections, massage, etc. It was my first time getting acupuncture and I was dubious, particularly because I don't really believe in energy fields. Bishara was super approachable and went at my speed. The first few sessions were mild and I wasn't sure what I wanted. But after a couple of months, I could articulate exactly where I wanted the needles for the pain and I started to wake up with NO PAIN or muscle tension. What I loved the most was that he uses a combo of estim and cupping and heat. All of that improved my circulation immensely. I had to pay out of pocket for this because my insurance doesn't cover it, and the hourly rate was reasonable (not cheap, but not exorbitant for NYC standards). I didn't end up doing any of the Chinese herbs he recommended but that's ok. Bishara is friendly, professional and also incredibly laid back (not pushy) which worked perfect for my needs. Overall a really positive experience.

A friend suggested trying acupuncture and I am so glad that I did. I was specifically looking for a practitioner focused on athletic performance and found Dr Wilson online - I was able to get in quickly after booking an appointment online. Dr. Wilson was thorough in reviewing medical history and explaining what he would focus on during the treatment itself. After one treatment, I walked out of there pain free for the first time in over 6 weeks! He recommended additional exercises to help strengthen the muscles and get me back to normal activity. I had a ski trip coming the following weekend and was worried I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself- stopped in for one additional appointment before leaving for the trip, his work saved my vacation!! Really appreciate the care and helpful maintenance exercise recommendations, thank you Dr Wilson!

But I threw out my back & I've had it with the steroid injections & bs. So I spoiled myself. They just reopened on Willoughby in Bushwick and oh my lanta!!!! It's a much more intimate space than they had 10 years ago, when you go for the community option I think there's only three beds now. Not only does the bed heat up, but the wonderful Dr Patchi put a heating lamp on my back for my cramps. LUXURY I swear this was a spa like experience! Patchi is super warm & chill, and SO intuitive with her hands. She also used a tens unit which I completely love. She is so so so skilled, and that excellent skill is overshadowed in the best way by her warmth. When we were done I slowly sat up and stretched my back a bit, and felt pops where I've been really needing to feel pops! She also did some needling for an ankle I broke last year that I'm still healing, and I'm really impressed by how much that worked. Of course it isn't magic, I still have cramps and my back is still rough, but both are much much much more manageable after just one session. I was tipped off to a pay what you can day coming up soon, and I really really really appreciated that (& immediately booked a spot). Being broke sucks, this economy sucks, looking for a job sucks, and it sucks even more when you feel like you're being judged for not having much money (esp since Bushwick is turning snooty). That tip was such a compassionate move, and it's so kind that they're having to pay what you can day!!!

As well as meds, my A1C is now under 6, and have been at this level for about 3 months now. My physician was amazed by the drastic and quick results. This was 6 weeks ago when I was in pain every day and having trouble doing basic functions like sitting & standing for longer than 10-15 minutes at a time. After seeing Dr. Mike for 10 sessions, I am 95% pain-free and have regained the ability to live my everyday life without any issues. What I appreciate so much about seeing Dr. Mike has been his brutal honesty about what the recovery process looks like for herniated discs, his measurements for success & his commitment to helping me improve. If you have herniated a disc in your spine, you know how painful the experience can be. You also know that recovery is difficult and takes time, commitment & a positive attitude. Dr. Mike was able to simplify each of these tasks along the way and keep my recovery progressing every week. He uses a calculated approach that actually measures the success of recovery, which is very encouraging to know and gives each patient a milestone to work towards. If I ever came into the practice feeling a bit down or depressed about my recovery, we would talk through it and after treatment - I not only felt like I was doing better, I KNEW I was doing better. If you're dealing with disc herniations in your spine/neck/wherever, I would highly recommend trying to see Dr. Mike and seeing if he can help you. He will be honest in his assessment & timeline for recovery and will tell you if he thinks he can help or not. I walked in, sat down for a bit while he attended other customers. He saw me and basically asked me "what's up". I told him I had some shoulder pain. I took off my jacket, he touched/massaged my shoulder blade and then asked what kind of work I'm involved with and my age. I told him I'm an accountant and that I'm 29. He not so quietly said "more like 49". Okay. Old country humor, fine. I'll ignore it if you can treat my injuries. We proceed to the room where I am to get my treatment. Take off my shirt and lay down. He says "you need to lose weight". Okay, Doc. Rude. I know myself and I'm already here, so let's just get this over with. After an hour of acupuncture, some cupping, and some scrapping with a rock, I was done. Rather, he was done. My shoulder was still in pain, and I still had a limited range of motion. He told me to come back in a few days. $65 poorer and my shoulder did not feel better a week later. Dr. Wu did not listen to what I have to say, did not ask enough questions, and made rude comments about me. He performed a lazy assessment of my shoulder and did not treat me in a manner that would lead to better healing. Note - give him a call before you go. He varies his hours based on how he feels.
