The planning portal was super easy to use & had tons of recommendations as well as pre-made playlists of different genres for cocktail hour. As Mike has been in the business for 20 years and the glowing reviews on Yelp, WeddingWire, and the Knot, I made the mistake of booking him. Mike loves to march to his own beat and is extremely disorganized, ill-prepared, lazy, inattentive to details, unprofessional, outdated, lackadaisical, and quite frankly a bozo. While I was impressed by all of the vendors at my wedding, I was seething and cringing by Mike's countless mistakes. As other Yelpers have noted, Mike is highly skilled at mixing beats for Hindu/American fusion weddings and getting everyone to hit the dance floor. However, Mike caters to the crowd rather than to the bride and groom. There's "no magic", here are Mike's top 8 blunders which I confronted him at the end of my wedding night: #1: Using an old schedule that was 2 months old! After 3 phone calls with Mike and sending him a few revised schedules based on feedback that he provided, he used the 1st schedule that I sent him with wrong bridal party names, songs, and times! He neglected all of the changes that we discussed on the phone and failed to use the new schedule that I sent a week before the wedding like he requested. When 5 names are mentioned, but only 2 women and a man walk out to "Sister Sledge" playing, that's a blunder! #2: Missing Cues/Repeated stepping of glasses. My fiancee and I are highly private people and don't enjoy long kissing sessions in front of our parents and friends. We actually took out all kissing pics from our slideshow. During the reception, after a big frown and shaking of the head after the 1st stemming of glasses, Mike initiated and continued to round up the crowd for additional stemming of glasses. It got so bad that some of the bridal party members broke some of the glasses in retailation. The stemming of the glasses is a topic that I also wish Mike discussed with us before the wedding so we could have easily prevented this embarrassing mishap. #3 Announcing the grooms name first and then the bride's name. A big no-no! "Peter and Aarti Pruitt". Mike believes in men first, even at weddings. #4 Playing songs on the "Do NOT play list". I hate "Gangnam Style" with a passion and it was among the 20 don't play list. Not only did Mike happily play the song, but he refused to change the song when I asked him to! That wasn't the only one... #5 Begging for a Big Tip. Mike isn't shy about charging top dollar $3K and the audacity to ask my father for a big tip before the event! The bozo loves to overpromise and underdeliver. My dad was way too nice to tip him $200. As a firm believer of tips, I honestly would NOT tip him. #6: Trying to Upsell at the WRONG time. Mike and I had a couple of minutes before the reception started. Rather than using this crucial time to discuss making any last-minute changes to the schedule (ex. moving things up as we wanted to skip sunset pics due to the weather), instead Mike kept trying to repeatedly sell us on the dhol guy. I hate BHANGRA, why would I pay extra for it? #7 Forgetting to play the cake cutting song. I was looking forward to hearing my favorite Baby Love during the cake cutting, too bad I never got the chance to hear it! #8 Not taking full ownership. After confronting Mike about all of the blunders listed above, he kept deflecting and making excuses. Despite repeated emails and phone calls before the wedding, Mike was very ill-prepared and was "winging" it at the wedding with sheepish grins. While I appreciate Mike's apology for his mistakes in a follow-up email that he sent, he doesn't take away from the painful memories that I experienced due to his careless mistakes. He single-handedly ruined the reception. Not once did Mike make it about the bride and the groom, it was more of Mike's day and pleasing the crowd. If you want to make your day special, I recommend tuning him out and enjoying the beat of someone else.

We also had stationed apps and a stationed meal. The food was fine - your basic fried greasy apps and then a decent selection of main course foods. If you are looking to host a party for 60+ people, this is a good spot to choose. They are well priced per person, definitely check them out.

They forced a change of plans that the bride originally wanted by texting her constantly ON THE DAY OF THE WEDDING!!! When the bride (my sister) expressed that she would like to be able to make the decision, she was met with argumentative responses saying that they were going to go ahead and move all of the decor inside since it would be raining for sure the next day - keep in mind that at this point it was a 30% chance of rain happening, so this was very premature. Karan was constantly texting her all day trying to force my sister's hand in the decision and because of this, she could not fully enjoy herself the first day of the wedding. He continued to lie about timings that their staff needed to complete set up by and they did not even take down and remove the decor from day 1... the wedding guests helped to take all that down. Ultimately, Karan ended up saying that he would not be coming the next day for decorations at 2AM the night before.... This left my sister without a decorator for her second day with less than 12 hours notice!!! Luckily the DJ from day one came through with a last minute decor vendor (Dharma Events) that was able to take the original design and produce a mandap that was even better than the bride could ever imagine at almost half the cost of the original designs. I would highly recommend going with them instead of having to deal with this unruly and unprofessional vendor.

We hired Yaadein Events as day-of coordinators and it was one of the best decisions we made. When it came time to find a wedding photographer for our big day, it was a no brainer! We love you, Sweet Mango! On the day of, Ricky arrived much EARLIER than we paid for, because he wanted to capture as much of the getting ready process as possible. We're super grateful for this, and he got tons of great photos we would not otherwise have! From the moment he walked into our hotel suite, he was all action, camera out, and ready to take photos. For this day, and for all of our other shoots with Sweet Mango, he gave great directions on how to pose for photos, was so creative with how he framed his shots, and flexible and adapted to the sun/weather/background and whatever other obstacles may come his way. Even though we did not get a second shooter and he single handedly had to cover the entire venue and all 100 guests at our event, including an entire lion dance troupe, he rose to the occasion and did just that and much more. I also want to take a moment and highlight the exceptional photo and color editing that Ricky and his partner Avianne do. Our photos from both previous shoots have received tons of compliments from friends and family, and although we have not yet gotten photos from our wedding, we have no doubt that they will be equally high quality and gorgeous. Ricky and Avianne, as well as Abby, are exceptionally skilled individuals. However, it's rare to also find photographers who are just as thoughtful, creative, and super, super kind.
