Gregg contacted us through wedding wire, and even though he lives super far away, he made the 2 hour trek into Manhattan to meet with my husband and I (twice!). Gregg stands out for 3 reasons: (1) PRICE. I really challenge you to find a professional DJ that comes at a lower price. (2) PROFESSIONALISM. Gregg responded immediately to every e-mail and phone call. At each meeting we were able to outline to Gregg what we wanted and he was able to set it up accordingly. He even accepts credit card! (3) Equipment. His set-up is awesome! He also has a really wonderful website where you can sample songs and pick what you'd like. I would definitely recommend Gregg to other brides. However, after recommending him, I would also strongly suggest that you give him a specific playlist. Gregg really carried out every instruction we gave him to a tee, and the ceremony was great! but at the end of the night when we gave him free reign for the dance portion, we didn't feel like our guests responded to the songs that he chose (my husband and I didn't recognize a few of them as well). In conclusion, if you are on a budget, but would still like a professional DJ who will work with you tirelessly and treat you wonderfully, I'd suggest Gregg! However, if dancing is VERY important to you then you might want to spend a little more and find a dj that is also into the same type of music as you. read more

Our Bar Mitzvah Party last night was made that much more special with the addition of Michael Gines hosting. Gregg was fabulous to deal with from the start. His communication with me upfront and through the planning process was stellar. I was assured that he and his team had everything covered and I need not worry. The planner he sent had everything covered including the opportunity to choose songs to play as well as trivia questions for a fun game. The guest of honor was worried about what songs would be played and whether or not he would be forced to join in some dancing that he didn't want. Letting him have control of those options upfront made him worry less about it leading up to the big day. Last night, Michael was fantastic. He arrived on time and checked in with us, setting up his professional equipment in the space provided and handling issues with the restaurant's speakers quickly without issue. We went over the layout for the night and he was flexible with some last minute requests for announcements to be made. He faithfully followed through with the song requests and we all couldn't be happier. I have to say that the energy Michael displayed and his professionalism and fun attitude really helped to make the night memorable for us and all our guests. Gregg at Ambient DJ is an amazing guy. When we first started looking for DJs, we came across a lot of people we knew we didn't want, whether it was because they played music we didn't like, or because they just didn't seem like our style. But when we read the reviews of Gregg, we were so encouraged that we thought we'd give him a try. Since we were planning our wedding from a few hundred miles away, we set up a call with him. We told him that we didn't exactly want a lot of mainstream stuff, that music is very important to us, and that we'd probably want to come up with a lot of things that he might not have heard of before, all of which he was totally fine with. And after we figured out that his own personal music tastes lined up a bit with ours, we knew we had finally found our DJ. When it came time to put our playlist together, we found that a lot of the songs we wanted him to play weren't in his online playlist building software. There was, however, an area in the software where you could put in special requests that we put to great use. After submitting our playlist, Gregg was able to find everything we wanted including an 8-bit chiptunes version of the wedding march that we wanted played as our recessional. As far as his set up during our wedding and reception, it was discrete and effective. During the reception, he encouraged people to take glow sticks we bought for the dance party. He also directed people to take part in a particular tradition of my wife's family. His personality was 100% spot on with what we were looking for in a DJ, and we were so happy with how he performed. We didn't have a lot of top 40 songs on our "please play" list, and yet he filled in the gaps between our choices with tasteful choices that got people moving. And I don't think I've ever heard anyone so skillfully mix an industrial/synthpop track into a Lady Gaga song. Overall we were never disappointed with his work, and we were so glad to have him as our wedding DJ. In fact we were so sold on him that we recommended him to a friend who was getting married a few months before us, and both he and we were very happy with Gregg's work. He even gave us a list of what songs he played during the wedding and reception so we could make a soundtrack to remember the day by. read more

Greg was a great MC & kept the kids engaged throughout the event--with dances like Electric Slide & games like Coke & Pepsi. At one point, he even got a conga line going! The music selections were just right. They played a mix of new & old music, including all the music we requested. Honestly, they did such a wonderful job, even when we threw in an impromptu request to give a shout out to our friends who were celebrating their anniversary. Last Saturday we had our daughters sweet 16 with DJ Chris. He was amazing! Before the party my daughter was nervous about the music that would be played but Chris put her right at ease and knew exactly what she wanted. He was there before I was in the middle of a terrible snowstorm and was ready to go. He had a great selection and even accommodated all requests. No one sat down all night! Gregg was fantastic to work with! He was our most professional vendor, and an incredible value for the services rendered. We acquired his basic package (but had our wedding in the offseason, so he graciously included his uplighting package), and as he kept upgrading his equipment, we simply asked for some of those items (and he provided them free of charge!), and he was always willing to go above and beyond to see your needs met, and that you were satisfied. Example: We custom-choreographed a song for him to play for our first danced loosely based on a few youtube videos, and he was able to edit it for us to match our song! We also had a few friends who helped us organize the reception as well as play some music using their own equipment, and Gregg was always a pleasure to work with for them as well. We are extremely happy with Ambient DJ. We worked with Gregg and DJ Iron Mike for our wedding. We were very impressed by how prepared they were, from the planning forms to help us create a playlist, to their availability in answering our questions and meeting with us. DJ Jesse left a horrible taste in my mouth. So much so that I'm writing this review 2 days after my wedding. First of all, I had spent a few hours on the wedding planner sheet to make it thorough and simple. I don't think he bothered to read it. Other things that I have to make a list: 1. He played the my bouquet toss song during my cake cutting time when I specifically wrote in the planner the sequence of events. 2. I SPECIFICALLY wrote down that he should not encourage people to the dance floor while they're eating. However, right when people got their food, DJ Jesse announced to the crowd that "for every person on the dance floor is a year of good luck." No went on to the dance floor. It was VERY VERY awkward. 3. I had to reach out to him repeatedly the week before my wedding and he was very SLOW to respond. 4. He was 15 mins late to one of my meeting. The DJ service was affordable, but I would pay a lot more for someone who actually reads and follows through my simple requests. Edit: The owner apologized and refunded the tip that someone gave the DJ. read more

My husband and I had never been to a Sweet 16 party, and were unaware of the timing for things like the Candle Ceremony etc. Chris briefed us on events like this that he had done in the past, and how things worked out. He was extremely professional, patient and calming as last minute changes needed to take place for some candle lighters, their songs, and the order of candles. He was extremely responsive to all our needs. Our daughter was able to select from a great list of music, and it worked out perfectly.
