We contacted Roddy in Dec 2017 after researching possibilities of event staff online for our June wedding event. Roddy sounded extremely knowledgeable, experienced and confident with what he could provide to meet our needs: coordinated the timing of different food and beverage stations including appetizer, main, and dessert as well as cleanup of rented dishes, where transitions and timing were key to make things run smoothly. 4 workers from 4-9pm was suggested as sufficient. All payment was required and submitted previous to event. We agreed to meet in May 2017 to see the space and discuss layout, finer details and modifications. During this meeting, again, Roddy was confident, gave suggestions, and assured us that things could be done and did warn that timing between appetizer and main dinner would be tight, so we were able to plan a buffer just in case. Once we met in May, it also seemed that meeting the day before when everything was truly set up would be ideal. We were reminded that it would be another $75 per visit. In actuality, Roddy's visit wasn't for us, it was really so that he could lead his team to be confident and aware enough to deliver the level of service we agreed to. Roddy, without the extra visit, assured us that he was capable of doing the work we agreed to confidently. Before the actual event, I sent detailed notes via Google Drive so the recipes of our drink stations and other details we discussed could become even more familiar. On the actual even day, I will say, we got wonderful compliments to the entirety of the event, which does speak to Roddy and his staff's execution of many of the deliverables. However, there are bigger points that I do believe that consumers should be aware of: -Roddy's entire team of 4 did not all show up on time at the venue -Days before the event, Roddy was unreachable/barely responsive to talk through details with our event coordinator and myself, even on the phone and seemed unaware of some of the details according to the event coordinator. -Roddy seemed to not know anything about the notes sent previously and did not know how to navigate them printed out at the venue -Our beverages, which had detailed scaled recipes for lemonade and iced tea, were not followed and thus didn't taste good and were not consumed as much as they could have by our guests. -Lastly, Roddy and team arrived so under prepared that they asked the groom, who was getting married in an hour, questions about the notes and how to proceed, consuming him so much that he wasn't able to attend to other key details necessary for an extra smooth wedding for us -I will reiterate, that to a guests eye, things went really well. However, I feel that the under preparation, unresponsiveness leading up to the event and involving of the groom are absolutely unacceptable to the point that other consumers should be warned. It should also be noted that we did reach out to Roddy with concerns following the event with no response, explanation, or apology.

BUYER BEWARE! Very…read moredisappointed with the service that we didn't even receive! We found Roddy through Thumbtack. I should've gone with my gut when he couldn't make it to our first meeting, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. After meeting him we hired him at the end of November last year, for our June 10th, 2017 wedding. Roddy agreed to come to a walk through one month before the wedding, but when the time came he did not show up. After that day, we tried calling and texting him but he did not respond. It was not until five days after the missed appointment until we heard back, this was when I decided to email him to cancel his services (three weeks before our wedding). Roddy apologized for the inconvenience, NOT for his unprofessional behavior, claiming that he was too busy to respond to us. When I tried to get my refund back, he threatened to have his "attorney" sue me because we canceled too late. Email chain below for proof. Roddy Diaz Sat, May 20, 2017 at 5:43 PM To: May K Hello May, My apologies for the inconvenience-I have been little busy with events back to back. I did heck out the venue and I'm sorry I have retuned your call. I will check the invoice base on the contract and give you refund base on the contract. Roddy May K Sun, May 21, 2017 at 10:17 PM To: Roddy Diaz Thank you for responding Roddy. My PayPal receipt says that I paid $370 so far. PayPal's policy says refunds can be issued up to 180 days after payment, and that will be this coming Saturday the 28th. Please send me an update or receipt of the refund when completed. Thank You, May Roddy Diaz Tue, May 23, 2017 at 11:56 AM To: May K Thank you for your note! I generated a invoice as contract for a deposit for services. I explained to you and Michael cancelation policy of my contract. You dicided to cancel the contract we made. I will have my attorney draw a letter and and he will let you know. This was a deposit and PayPal policy don't apply per our contract of services. Thank for your note and my Attorney will be in contact. Roddy Diaz Thu, Jun 1, 2017 at 2:59 PM To: May K, david.wells.attorneyatlaw@gmail.com Hello May and Michael, I received your request from PayPal and after speaking with our attorney we will not issue a refund of your deposit. This is a deposit and you decided to cancel three weeks prior to the event. I explained to you in person and I also noted our cancellation policy on the invoice as well. In addition, our website also explains our cancellation policy. If PayPal refunds this amount without our authorization we will file civil lawsuit for the entire amount plus interest and legal fees. Thank you. if you have any questions feel free to send us a email via email. Dave: Please create a file and contact PayPal. Roddy Diaz. May K Thu, Jun 1, 2017 at 8:40 PM To: Roddy Diaz Roddy, It is all a matter of standards. I will withdraw my dispute because this issue has already taken up too much of my time and energy. I believe I was right to ask for a refund because you did not do anything on your end to help ensure any confidence in you. On your Thumbtack page you state, "On Site, Pre-Event Walk-through: Xpress Waiters gives you the added value service of providing pre-event visits at your site or event location to ensure a confidence in you that we have a clear idea of your vision and details for an absolutely successful event." This did not happen when you were scheduled to meet with Michael on a day and time we agreed upon. How or why you missed the appointment was not our fault. You, as the contracted party with what you claim is 6 years of experience, should be able to make scheduled appointments and plan ahead. For the deposit we paid, you did not provide us the kind of service that is remotely worth $370. Since you could not make the walk through, and refused to return our calls for five days, we were under the impression that you left us high and dry. As a paying customer, I would have expected you to at least check in with us via text, email, or phone - but you chose not to respond for five days after the missed appointment. That is quite simply a bad business practice, even if you were busy with back to back events. You did not show us the kind of respect that you should show a paying customer. Furthermore, after we tried to cancel your services, you did not offer any mediation--especially since our actions were a direct result of your inaction. You apologized for the inconvenience, even though you should have really apologized for your unprofessional behavior. This unprofessional behavior was made even more clear with your threat of using your "Attorney David Wells" to sue me. All of this has been a really disappointing experience. I hope you don't treat all your customers this way.

We had our wedding at an Airbnb with no staff, equipment, food, etc. She helped keep us on track and was honest with us. When we were behind, she lit a fire under our ass. When we were on track, she made us feel confident that we were ready to go. She helped us put together our timeline and provided sound advice throughout the whole process. We would have calls when needed at first, but we had weekly calls with her starting about a month out from the wedding so we were all on the same page. After the wedding, we found ourselves missing those weekly calls since Lexie was so good to us and was as calming presence in the hectic wedding planning process. The day of the wedding we had an unexpected rain delay (at an outdoor venue with basically no backup plan). In this high pressure situation, Lexie kept the mood calm, and coordinated with our vendors so well. She took the lead and handled all details during the rain delay, never once bothering the bride and groom. As far as we knew, everything was under control the entire time. Lexie followed all directions that we gave her as far as our vision for the wedding, and our day turned out better than we could have ever imagined. Our other vendors enjoyed working with her and we only heard rave reviews from our friends and family during the day-of. We would highly recommend her to anyone and we miss talking to her on a regular basis. Thank you Lexie for being a key part of the best day of our lives!! Matt & Mia

Upon our initial phone conversation I knew this was my guy. He sounded professional, kind, and prepared. He met with me at the venue and this made me more comfortable knowing that my DJ understands the venue location/environment. My fiance and I had a strict playlist we wanted played for our wedding, he did a great job with the music. He made sure the CD's I gave him was ready to go. He did such an amazing job at our friends' wedding that we knew we had to have him! We got married this past July in Sebastopol, CA and Robert lived up to expectations! From start to finish, we couldn't have asked for more. We had a tricky outdoor venue in which we needed sound in three different areas of the property and Robert offered to do a walk-through a month prior to the wedding to put us at ease that all would work out seamlessly. He drove all the way from the East Bay to meet us in Sebastopol, which was above and beyond his call of duty. On the day of the ceremony, everything went off without a hitch. He had all the music lined up that I had sent him ahead of time (ceremony, dinner, wedding party intros, first dances) and when it came time to hit the dance floor, he kept the crowd on their feet for more than 2 hours of great song after another. And last but not least, Robert's pricing is completely reasonable, especially in the wedding industry where felt like we got ripped off by every other vendor. We spent exactly what we wanted to spend for the DJ and it was worth every penny. I'm quite shocked to see that you infact are still TAKING on new reservations, but yet canceled mine (due to your closure). Why would you respond to an inquiries to say that your space is available if it's not? Shady business deals you make and thank godness for social media and Yelp because I will be leaving a negative review. I find it funny that your prices have since gone up. Had that been the reason you decided to cancel me you should have just mentioned the price change and I would have agreed to it. But, instead you claimed to be "closing" yet you're still taking new reservations. I asked 2 friends to make inquires on my behalf and they were told that the date they wanted wasn't available, but to "keep you in mind for future events". That is not how you do business nor how to keep a positive reputation. I wouldn't be surpised if your business does close due to the shady nature of your business practice.
