I had been looking along Revere beach for the past couple of months at all the different properties (I toured through 8+ buildings) from the north end of the beach to Beachmont to East Boston. This one.. Location, location, location! It's right next to the Wonderland T Stop, has a new restaurant and is going to have a tap room and wood-fire pizza oven and located right on the lighted footbridge that brings you right to the beach from the T Stop. Now for the rental process... out of all the buildings toured, the rental process was the most difficult. I gave them a small deposit of $99 (a plus about this property) but when I wasn't gong to move in, I had a really hard time getting my deposit back. I was given the run around and telling me the main office had to cut a check and would take 30-45 business days. So, I had to call the main office because the local property "couldn't escalate the process". After speaking to 3 different people in 3 different offices, I finally got an email from someone else saying it would be in 2 weeks. I DID finally get my deposit back a month later. The property manager, Brian, made it his goal to make sure the issue was resolved. Anyway, this review is more about the Greystar Properties than 500 Ocean. In the end, they did resolve my issue and changed the tone from being aloof and impassive to respectful and attentive. Anyway, this property is absolutely gorgeous! Great location, great design and modern building with the typical amenities of all the new buildings, except for the pool.. it looks pretty sweet!

Looking back, I could've bought a home. Instead, I paid that kind of money to deal with broken elevators, paper-thin walls, constant noise, and management that treated me like a nuisance. Don't let the fake "luxury" branding fool you, the finishes are cheap, maintenance is slow (if it shows up at all), and the building is clearly run by people who only care about rent checks. I thought I was paying for convenience and quality. I was wrong. I was paying for headaches, false promises, and regret. If you're on the fence, don't do it. Learn from my mistake.

He also helped find tenants and fill vacant units, which made managing the property much easier. He has a reliable network of reasonably priced contractors and service providers for repairs and maintenance. He's handy himself and can often take care of smaller issues, which has helped me save on costs. Rent distributions were always on time, and he handled several difficult situations professionally and smoothly. When it came time to sell the property, Matt was equally helpful. He was knowledgeable about the market, priced the property strategically, coordinated repairs and cleaning, offered practical advice, and helped negotiate with the buyer. He was always available when I needed help and made the entire sale process much easier. The sale ultimately closed smoothly, and I really appreciated having someone I could rely on from property management all the way through the sale. I would highly recommend Matt to anyone looking for a property manager or someone to help manage a property sale.

They were either not responsive…read moreenough, would have a high turnover of people in charge (so you would know know who to communicate with), never followed with the list of preventative maintenance requests, would do nothing on optimizing rental income, or would be way too expensive (sometimes, all of the above). Hiring Longview Properties lowered by stress, and increased my confidence in being a landlord. They own their own properties, so they understand what's important to both, the landlord, as well as a tenants. They are easy to communicate with, and they know the tenants by name (they are not just another unit number). Most impressive though is that they put themselves in your shoes, and do what you would want to have done - one example, when driving by the property on a weekend, of a fall afternoon, I saw Mike (the owner of Longview Properties) blowing leaves - when I asked him what he was doing, his response was that he would not spend $600 for 30 minutes of landscaping work, regardless of it was his property on mine. It's that level of customer service that it's extremely rare to find anywhere else.

Worst management company in existence. Workers are incompetent and have an unbelievably low…read morestandard of cleanliness. They are the worst at responding to emails and seem like they have the reading comprehension of a 4 year old. They don't seem to care about mice or cockroaches infesting the building. They also don't seem to care about water damage and mold. Please don't rent any property if they are managing it. It's not worth it.
