The following is a detail to give some background. A few weeks prior to the day of the bachelorette party, my bridesmaids had discovered that a friend owned a bus and they were willing to give us a great deal. Naturally, we contacted Smooth Riders to see if it was a possibility to cancel our reservation. The person that we spoke with stated that if we chose to cancel our reservation, we would then be charged $250.00, on top of the $100.00 deposit that we had previously made, in order to cancel our reservation. $350.00 (ridiculous)?!?! So, because that price was completely outlandish, we decided we would just keep our reservation. The day of my bachelorette party, we were notified a few hours before our scheduled pick up time, that the bus we had reserved was in the shop being repaired (and had been for a week, which we were never told until that moment) but we were assured that they would have our bus (or some bus) for us and we would be picked up at 7:00pm. He also said that the driver could be a few minutes late, but he offered to take money off if that was the case (we were fine with that). At roughly 6:50pm, the bus driver called and told us that she was on her way with our bus but was going to be late. She said that she might need to have another bus pick us up and bring us to our first destination and then she would meet us there (instead of at our hotel) with our bus (we were not complaining because we were still being picked up). At 7:10pm, we had been gathered and waiting for a bus, as we were promised. We made mutiple attempts to contact the owner and the driver to see when we would be picked up. No answer. We then received a call at 7:20pm and were RUDELY informed that we no longer had ANY bus coming to pick us up (our bus was being towed back to the shop) and that they were cancelling on us. He THEN told us that all of his buses were booked for the night so he had nothing for us. He was not sympathetic at all (he simply said it was out of his control), he did not offer to pay US the $350.00 cancellation fee+deposit, and he went as far as saying that we were indecisive and didn't have our stuff together, so this was "for the best". We understood that things happen, but we were paying for this service and we were PROMISED that we would have a bus. I feel that he was extremely deceitful in not telling us about the bus being in the shop for the past week (when we could have made a different plan), he made promises that he could not keep (in saying that he had another bus that could bring us to our first destination to meet our reserved bus), and to not have a backup vehicle was irresponsible and left us in a horrible position- 22 people waiting to get on a bus that we had reserved months ago and were depending on for the night's festivities. STAY AWAY!! This was a complete a nightmare....

Then the Monday before, they emailed me saying they had a bus brake down that past weekend and I could move the time earlier/later or get a refund...which of course is not ideal when you've been planning a party for 25 people. So I chose the refund, and it took over 3 weeks to get my money back. They kept having issues and the right people weren't available to help, and then after I had waiting for 3 weeks I said it was ridiculous and they told to stop being rude. Use at your own risk, I was skeptic of them at first and they proved my skepticism right. Horrible customer service. Horrible company to work with.

    I've never had a worse experience with a party bus company in the 9 years I've been renting buses…read more I made the mistake of using them for a second time after a less than stellar first experience. The second time was so bad I will NEVER use them again. They are the cheapest bus company in the twin cities but the customer service is so bad it's not worth saving a few extra dollars. To start, I had spoken with Alex on the phone at which time he told me the Knight Rider was still available. As soon as I hung up the phone I booked it online. 2 weeks later I finally received an email confirmation. On the confirmation I noticed it had the Orange Harley listed as our bus for the evening. I immediately emailed him and his response was "I'm sorry that might have been our mistake. The Knight Rider isn't available". After going back and forth several times he basically said "Too bad. Take it or leave it." Since it was prom weekend and we were now only a month out, we weren't able to book another bus so we had no other options. I had negotiated for a 10% discount and installation of 2 new light up poles for the mistake. He agreed, but never sent it in writing. I had to call and email him roughly 6 times before I finally got it in writing. Upon review of the new confirmation I noticed the price he had quoted on the email was $1430 for 6 hours. Over the phone when I had initially called he had quoted me $1060 for 6 hours. When I pointed out the price discrepancy he said it must have been a typo. They don't even share the same numbers so once again I think he was trying to pull a bait and switch on me. The day of the event the bus shows up and it does not have the 2 new poles installed like we had discussed. I called Alex right away and he gave me some excuse about how they had a busy week and ran out of time. I found this inexcusable considering we had it in writing and he had a month to make this happen from the time he had agreed to it. I was obviously upset and tried to negotiate for more money off for not delivering on his end. At that point he started attacking my character over the phone. It was now 15 minutes pass the time we were scheduled to leave and here I am standing in the driveway being verbally attacked by him. To top it all off the bus that showed up was in fact orange but it was not the same Orange Harley bus as shown on their website. It was much much worse. It looked like my small child had painted it and the shocks were so poor you couldn't fill your drink more than halfway without it spilling. Overall the entire business is a scam that operates on a bait and switch system. GO ELSEWHERE, PEOPLE!

    I called to rent a party bus for a specific date and was informed by Alex that the Mini-Limo bus…read morewas available for that date and to please book it online. I did just that - immediately - and was promised a confirmation email. Nothing ever came. I called a week before the event to check on the status as I was a bit worried that I hadn't heard anything. I left a voicemail. No call back. I called again the following two days in a row and finally someone answered the phone (after numerous tries). Talked to Alex again and asked him to verify the reservation that I made online. I held on the line for a couple of minutes and when he came back he said that the bus I reserved was not available. Of course, I was confused as it was available when I reserved it two weeks prior and no one had contacted me indicating an issue with a double booking. I then asked - "Why did no one call me immediately to let me know the bus was indeed booked upon noticing my reservation (which he acknowledged was in the system)"?? He did not have an answer for that. He did say he had a different, larger bus available, but it would be $100 more. At this point I'm incredulous. "So, I book a bus that you said was available, you acknowledge my online reservation for a specific date in a specific bus and for a specific price, double book the bus and then expect me to pay extra for a bus I don't need?" His response was "I'm not going to argue with you". After a bit more talking, Alex did say he would try to get the owner to provide the larger bus for the same price, but I had absolutely no faith in this company being able to manage my reservation and decided to look elsewhere. I understand that mistakes happen. What I cannot understand is the absolute unwillingness to admit fault and honor an agreement. Not only was there absolutely no communication, there were no apologies and no concessions to ameliorate the damage. My fault was in not following up sooner than a week prior to the event.

Anyways, very long story short, there wasn't any music on the bus we got for our wedding. The driver reported that it was broken but the company stated it was working when they checked so I'm not entirely sure what happened. I then had a difficult time getting any follow up from a specific person afterwards to express my dissatisfaction so I ultimately left the situation with a bad taste in my mouth for this company. But a little while later, the owner of the company personally reached out to me personally to apologize for any negative experience that I had and said that they pride themselves on customer service and wanted to make it right. I was not expecting this and ultimately had chalked it all up to a loss and bad experience initially. I'm amazed that any company would care enough for their customers to follow up even after I had already gotten nowhere with one of their employees, to apologize and wanting to make it right. They didn't have to do that and I'm shocked they did but it's clear they really do care about the experience and services they provide to their customers. Once again, I'm amazed and was not expecting anything further from them, but it's clear they will go the extra mile for their clients to give them the service they are paying for.

    Update - this is still the ONLY limo company in the area we will trust to pick up our valued…read moreinternational guests from the airport! We just had two visitors come from overseas, they were tired from their trip, signals got crossed and they couldn't find where their driver was waiting for them. Our team got on the phone with the driver and (separately) the passengers and helped navigate them to the same place where they met. It took a while, and other companies' drivers might have given up after waiting a while and left the scene, but our Star driver made sure the travelers were found and had a nice ride. Another plus: the booking client gets an email confirmation when the driver is on-site, another when the travelers are in the car, and another when they arrive at their location (hotel) so we can track the progress all the way and don't have to worry. Once again, Star has validated the confidence we place in them.

    We reserved a Christmas lights limo tour for December 20, 2025. We paid $639.99. The driver picked…read moreus up as planned, but the vehicle had electrical problems. There was no heat, no way to talk to the driver, no radio/audio. The windows were frosted over so you couldn't see outside. We called the driver on our cell phone. He pulled over on Highway 10 to speak to us. He got out of the cab and came back to talk with us - on the side of a highway. This was an unsafe situation. He told us he had to manually press a button in the cab for the electrical to work. He said it was getting difficult to hold button and we later found out the button was behind him, at an awkward angle. This also seemed to be unsafe. We drove to their garage where they attempted to fix the problem. They were unable to resolve the problem so they returned us home with the promise of a refund since we did not get our Christmas lights tour. I have contacted Matt by phone three times with promises of a refund, but there has been no follow-through on their end. I filed a complaint with the BBB and they also did not receive any response from Matt after their two attempts. Unsafe and poor customer service. It's not too late to make this right, Matt.
