My bridesmaids booked a bus through this company (well in advance) for my bachelorette party. Our pick up time was scheduled for 7:00pm August 13th (last night....). The following is a detail to give some background. A few weeks prior to the day of the bachelorette party, my bridesmaids had discovered that a friend owned a bus and they were willing to give us a great deal. Naturally, we contacted Smooth Riders to see if it was a possibility to cancel our reservation. The person that we spoke with stated that if we chose to cancel our reservation, we would then be charged $250.00, on top of the $100.00 deposit that we had previously made, in order to cancel our reservation. $350.00 (ridiculous)?!?! So, because that price was completely outlandish, we decided we would just keep our reservation. The day of my bachelorette party, we were notified a few hours before our scheduled pick up time, that the bus we had reserved was in the shop being repaired (and had been for a week, which we were never told until that moment) but we were assured that they would have our bus (or some bus) for us and we would be picked up at 7:00pm. He also said that the driver could be a few minutes late, but he offered to take money off if that was the case (we were fine with that). At roughly 6:50pm, the bus driver called and told us that she was on her way with our bus but was going to be late. She said that she might need to have another bus pick us up and bring us to our first destination and then she would meet us there (instead of at our hotel) with our bus (we were not complaining because we were still being picked up). At 7:10pm, we had been gathered and waiting for a bus, as we were promised. We made mutiple attempts to contact the owner and the driver to see when we would be picked up. No answer. We then received a call at 7:20pm and were RUDELY informed that we no longer had ANY bus coming to pick us up (our bus was being towed back to the shop) and that they were cancelling on us. He THEN told us that all of his buses were booked for the night so he had nothing for us. He was not sympathetic at all (he simply said it was out of his control), he did not offer to pay US the $350.00 cancellation fee+deposit, and he went as far as saying that we were indecisive and didn't have our stuff together, so this was "for the best". We understood that things happen, but we were paying for this service and we were PROMISED that we would have a bus. I feel that he was extremely deceitful in not telling us about the bus being in the shop for the past week (when we could have made a different plan), he made promises that he could not keep (in saying that he had another bus that could bring us to our first destination to meet our reserved bus), and to not have a backup vehicle was irresponsible and left us in a horrible position- 22 people waiting to get on a bus that we had reserved months ago and were depending on for the night's festivities. I wish I could give it negative stars. Everything started off great, lined up a bus for a bachelorette party on a Saturday evening. Then the Monday before, they emailed me saying they had a bus brake down that past weekend and I could move the time earlier/later or get a refund...which of course is not ideal when you've been planning a party for 25 people. So I chose the refund, and it took over 3 weeks to get my money back. They kept having issues and the right people weren't available to help, and then after I had waiting for 3 weeks I said it was ridiculous and they told to stop being rude. Use at your own risk, I was skeptic of them at first and they proved my skepticism right. Horrible customer service. Horrible company to work with. read more

We had a party of 19 people and we were visiting three bars over a four hour timeframe for a 50th birthday party. The shuttle was early and the driver was able to quickly find the bars we wanted to visit. The sound system was great, the shuttle was clean and the reservation process was easy. Overall it was a great night and I would recommend Smooth Riders. read more

I had been speaking with Melissa at Smooth Riders for the last week and had lined up my bus reservation. She had confirmed my price quote and assured me many times that the bus was reserved for my date-- we played phone tag trying to get the down payment in and she emailed me on Friday morning saying to call on Monday for the down payment but not to worry, the bus was set aside for me. On Friday afternoon I received an email from Kyle stating "We are no longer going to be able to rent the bus to you. Sorry for the inconvenience" -- No explanation and they would not answer their phone or return my message. Extremely poor customer service and unreliable, would not recommend. read more

Keep looking and look past this company if you need a bus service! This is an awful human being running a business! Please read below about an experience of my sisters wedding and how he not only didn't show up the day of, but proceeded to say completely uncalled for and extremely disrespectful things to a couple ON THEIR WEDDING DAY!!!!! Who tries to ruin someone's wedding? How unprofessional! He even said he has an ex wife, there is a reason for that! Horrible person! Read on for details of his "service" How does a service company stay in business when they are extremely disrespectful, crude and have no morals! Here is the response from my sisters mother in law.... My mom reserved a party bus from Smooth Riders in Fridley for his wedding party; he sent them an email indicating that they would have around 20-25 people on the bus ( we have a copy of the email with these specifics to prove my son did not lie!); Smooth Rider took his deposit and he received confirmation. On the day of the event, he receives a call from the owner of Smooth Rider 3 hours before the wedding. The owner indicated that the original bus that was reserved was no longer available and that he had a bus for him to use that could hold 20 people. When my son told him that the group consisted of 25 people he immediately began to be belligerent stating that my son was liar. The owner stated he was not going to risk his DOT license for my lying son by talking 25 people on his bus when there was only a capacity of 20 people. The owner was screaming at my son stating that he was not sending a bus and he didn't care if the wedding party had to walk! I called the owner to discuss the situation. He began immediately screaming at me telling me my son was a liar and he wasn't going to risk his business for my lying son. I asked him to calm down and to discuss the situation professionally and he then went so far as to ask me how I could have raised such a terrible lying person! He continued to scream and say that he was not going to deal with any bridezilla or bridezilla mom! Wow, what a piece! My husband took the phone and the owner continued to treat him the same way! When my husband told the owner that he hadn't heard the last from us, the owner said 'get in line, you are right behind my ex-wife.' Did my son deserve this kind of treatment 3 hours before he was going to get married! Did we deserve to be treated this way on the day of our son's wedding! No one deserves to be treated the way the owner of Smooth Rider treated us ever! Smooth Rider should not be in business! No one should ever rent a party bus from them and risk being treated this way! Obviously the owner of Smooth Rider is an ignorant, disrespectful human being and I'm sure his mother did not raise him this way! We have never been treated so poorly by anyone; especially from a company that provides a service to people and customer service is supposed to be their top priority. read more

We used Smooth Riders as our transportation choice for our wedding party. Was very easy to book with and responsive to emails/calls. Had a great driver and was on time for pick. Vehicle was clean and spacious for our party of 17. Two minor issues we had were the phone cord for the music didn't work in the phones and it took a bit to get the wireless code for the system - however once we had the code it worked - and although the AC was on and working it was a bit warm once we got into the bus. This probably had more to do with the amount of people on the bus and the temperature of the day (not a complaint but wanted to let others know for expectations). Would highly recommend this company to others and use again if the need arose. read more

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! I give this company 0 stars because they left 20 some people stranded. I got married on October 22nd and they were supposed to pick up at 2:00 from pictures and then drive to pick up the rest of my wedding party and then drive up to the church then back to the reception. My mother in law called them and someone said they would contact the driver and call her back. No one called her back so she had to call again and the man on the phone gave my mother in law attitude!! Which makes no sense because we were the ones stranded and they weren't being helpful at all! Find another party bus and don't trust the good reviews because we did and look what happened to us! read more

DO NOT RELY ON THIS COMPANY! Here's a warning to anyone thinking about using this company, and please know that SmoothRiders has removed many negative posts from various social media sites: My son got married Saturday, 10-22; the bus was supposed to pick up the bridal party in Maple Grove at the park where they had pictures, stop at Crown Room so they could pick up the rest of the bridal party after they dropped their cars off, and then head up to wedding in Monticello; and then after ceremony bring the wedding party back to Rogers. The bus wasn't there at 2:00 pre-determined time. I called them and spoke to a woman who was pleasant enough; she was going to call the driver. I called back 10 minutes later, since I hadn't heard from anyone. It was a male. Apparently their driver never showed. He was in Mankato, buses apparently are stored in Lake Crystal or somewhere south of metro. (I was under the impression they were located in Fridley.) He was extremely rude and defensive, "What do you expect me to do?"-attitude. I told him I didn't appreciate his lack of professionalism and he shot back that I was being unprofessional. Really? You strand 20 people you had a contract to provide a service to, and this is the type of conversation you have? Thankfully there were enough people to get the bridal party back and forth, and the kids were all mature enough to let this glitch roll. Per the Smooth Riders agreement, they took a credit card number and $100 deposit. Haven't checked to see if the charge is on the kids' card, but I'm feeling this will be a battle, since other people who have had this same problem never got their deposit back. And you can bet there will be 20+ people making sure this experience is shared on every possible social media site we can find so that people are warned about this company. read more
