DJ Marc Sense is one of my favorite DJs. I first heard of him back in 2005 at Chop Suey when I was going to many of the underground Hip-Hop shows. He would DJ between sets for Macklemore, Blue Scholars, and many other Hip Hop artists. I love that he spins all the old school classics from Hip Hop, to funk, soul, and R&B. He just plays good music that gets you moving no matter how much of a wallflower you are. haha... I follow his Facebook and Twitter page and sometimes he posts links where you can download his mixes for FREE! I've downloaded a few of his soul mixes and love listening to them while I drive. It gets me groovin' in my ride. When I throw a big party, may it be my birthday or if I get married, I will definitely hit him up! He really knows how to throw a party and you can sometimes catch him at the local clubs in Seattle like Havana. Sometimes when I'm lucky I'll see him DJ at a private party. Marc from Integral DJ's was amazing!! From the very beginning, he walked us through the whole process and was so flexible, even when I was making changes the day of to song requests, oops! Not only was the process streamlined by his great spreadsheet (I am a sucker for spreadsheets), but the day of execution was wonderful. Our venue was our private property in a remote location where the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception were all held at different locations. He brought enough equipment for 3 set ups and had music going in each location before guests arrived (not even sure how he did this!). Finally, the actual dance party was a huge success. We literally could not get people to leave on the shuttle buses. Leading up to my wedding someone asked me what would be the worst thing that could happen on my big day...rain during the outdoor ceremony? Tripping down the aisle? Spilling food on my dress? Nope, I told her it would be no one dancing later in the night. Given that music and dancing were so important to me and my fiance, I shopped around (was also planning my wedding in Seattle from another state!) and landed on DJ Marc. All I have to say is thank god I did!! I could not have been happier with his music selection / professionalism / timing / helpfulness / mc abilities / lights / music equipment / I could go on... Marc showed up 2 hours before the ceremony to make sure everything would be set-up in time (I also should note he had to move equipment locations 3 times during the night and was a really good sport about it), and played a great mix of our song suggestions mixed with his throughout the night. We had special instructions for him a couple times in the night and he pulled those off flawlessly (e.g. during the ceremony I had him loop the acoustic intro of a song for the processional, then begin the words as I came down the aisle). Needless to say, once the dancing got started it was hard for everyone to stop and I have received so many gushing compliments from guests that the music was so much fun and a party instead of the more cliche songs normally played at weddings. Marc is a wonderful professional and an even better DJ. As previous reviews have mentioned, Marc did an excellent job initiating dialogue and prepping for the wedding. He was always open and available, setting aside time for skype interviews and always responding to our emails in a timely manner. Marc had us prepare an Excel spreadsheet which he used to get a real sense of who we were and what our musical tastes entailed (he even included what songs should be banned, which we thought was a clever inclusion). At the reception, Marc proved himself to be the MVP of our wedding. He did a great job MC-ing the introduction, first dance, and father-bride dance. Once the floor was open Marc drew literally every guest on to our small dance floor with well thought out songs with insanely precise and smooth transitions. I'm not kidding when I say there wasn't an available inch of space to dance because everyone wanted to move to the music he was spinning. Again, the transitions were so impressive. The song length was perfect for each song. He didn't just play one song from its start to finish, but rather played just enough of it and then transitioned to something else, which kept everyone interested and bumping. The song selection by Marc was also perfect. We had a very diverse guest list: people of all ages, nationalities, and races, and everyone was dancing. I've been to a few weddings before, but never have I seen such excitement and participation on the dance floor. Overall, Marc really made our wedding a memorable event. Everyone had so much fun and it was in no small part due to him. In every way possible, I recommend you hire Marc as your DJ if you're getting married or having any kind of event that you want music played at. I hope this review does Marc justice. He promptly scheduled a facetime chat and once we spoke it was an easy choice. Not only did he seem to understand our varied music taste, but he was organized, diligent, and communicative when it came to customer relations. His comprehensive spreadsheet and input not only helped us structure the musical component of our wedding, but made the event infinitely smoother and creative. Marc is phenomenal! We hired him to do our wedding last weekend, and after reading all of the amazing reviews on him, he still totally blew us away. The music portion of the wedding was really important to us because we LOVE to dance, so we wanted someone who would do a great job. My dad wanted a live band but he reluctantly agreed to an awesome DJ - he has been telling me daily since the wedding what a great job Marc did! From the start, Marc was really easy to work with and professional, and we felt like he absolutely knew the ins and outs of a wedding. His attention to detail is incredible! As we got within 3 months of our date, he began asking for the very detailed excel sheet - this sheet, is wonderful. Listen, we had a fantastic vendor team for our big day, but Marc MADE our wedding experience for us and for our guests. It was a top priority for both my husband and me, even with our diverse musical tastes (me, Seattle alternative; him, Southern hip hop), that our reception be a REAL party. Like, we wanted a sweat your head out, shoes off, spontaneous lip sync battle rapping with people you didn't know an hour ago, "THAT'S MY SONG!" every other song kind of party. So it only followed that we needed a REAL DJ with deep knowledge of, not only the music we like, but science of rocking a party. We found that and then some with Marc. In addition to killing our reception (which our friends still talk about to this day), he made sure the music for our ceremony was perfect (including editing songs down for time to our specifications, and he didn't judge us even a little bit when we chose to do our recessional to the "Ante Up" instrumental) and kept things running smoothly during the dinner speeches; so full service indeed. Also very important when you're looking for stress-free event planning, Marc was an absolute pleasure to work with. His professionalism is as impeccable as his musical skill. The whole way through, he was prompt, very communicative and responsive, open to our ideas leading up to the wedding and flexible the night of, helpful in providing guidance based on his years of event experience, and, key but often overlooked, his equipment and mastery of it were top notch. Yes, the dance floor was full and the guests had a good time. This was my daughter's wedding on August 17 on Whidbey Island, WA. What I'm disappointed is lack of DJ's communication. We never heard him announce the special dances. For example he just started playing the song for bride and her father, my husband bride's dad was no where around and most part of song was played already by the time we brought them together. This completely ruined the special moment they were supposed to have together. My family from a different culture had a dance prepared before the cake cutting. Again he played the song unexpectedly while none of the members of my family were prepared. It's not only playing music the DJ must speak and communicate with the guests. After reading the great reviews on this page no one is gonna believe or pay attention to my concern but it's the truth. I told Marc I wanted an epic dance party at our wedding, and that's exactly what he delivered - country music and all!!! I've gotten so many compliments on the music and dancing, and honestly, it was my favorite part of the night! All of our guests had such a blast, and I'm still hearing compliments! From a bride's perspective, it was such a relief to have a DJ that I didn't have to worry about at all (literally not at all). We opted to forgo a wedding planner, so naturally, I was stressed about making sure all of the vendors were in the right placed at the right time, but Marc was on top of everything from the very beginning. We had a skype meeting about a year ahead of time, reviewed our playlists and wedding timeline a couple of months ahead of time, and finalized any last minute details the week before. We had so much fun working with Marc for our wedding. When we first met we talked about the types of music we liked and didn't like and the type of wedding we wanted to have. He told us his job is to make sure people are dancing and enjoying themselves. He gave us a detailed spreadsheet that helped us walk through the timing of the day and outlined all of our songs for first dance, parent dances, etc. plus genres we'd like for cocktail hour and into dancing. We were also able to write down anything we didn't want him to play and whether or not we wanted guests to be able to request songs. I got married on 10/10/2015 in Seattle and we chose DJ Marc Sense AKA Integral DJ's owner Marc Matsui as our DJ. He absolutely rocked it! I was incredibly impressed with Marc's professionalism when we first met-- he explained the process, provided an easily understandable and competitive price list of services, and showed us an incredibly detailed spreadsheet that he uses to make sure the day of the wedding goes smoothly. We met with a couple of other DJs, but it was clear Integral DJs was the best and the most competitively priced. We selected five hours of music option and asked for it to start at dinner and continue through the dancing portion of the evening. Marc sent us the contract via email and that was that-- it was so easy. I emailed Marc a lot to discuss music choices: I had to make sure had the right version of the Father-Daughter dance and I also provided him with a last minute list of salsa songs that my dad wanted at the wedding. Marc always responded to me right away, was super accommodating, and made me feel like I was in excellent hands. He even called a couple of days beforehand to confirm everything with me. The day of the wedding was perfect. Marc and arrived and set everything up while we were at the church. The reception venue asked him for music for the cocktail hour, and he kindly provided some nice background music which he absolutely did not have to do, since that wasn't in our contract. I had planned on hooking up my iPhone with a playlist for the cocktail hour since I had requested a five hour package that was meant for dinner and dancing. He was just super nice and provided some background music anyway. During dinner, Marc stuck to our desired theme that we wanted and had listed in our spreadsheet. He was a great MC; he didn't make the event about him and wasn't cheesy at all, which is what we wanted. Marc did all the announcements and kept us on our desired timetable. He was great, because he made sure people didn't miss us cutting the cake or dancing the First Dance. I've been to other weddings where I had no idea the couple was cutting the cake until after it was already over. Marc read the room extremely well and played an awesome mix of salsa music from the 70s-90s and American music from a wide era (1960s-contemporary). He kept everyone on the dance floor all night. There was an instance where he played 'Shout' and the music transitioned to a different song before the end. A lot of our guests went "Awww" because they wanted to finish it-- he quickly adjusted and seamlessly transitioned the music back to where it had been. My guests let out a huge cheer. My guests and I had a wonderful time thanks to Integral DJs. Music is an incredibly important part of wedding, and Marc went above and beyond in everything he did. It was an absolute pleasure to work with him. Words do not begin to describe what Marc meant to our wedding. Just to clarify, music was my wife and I's #1 priority...we wanted to have a dance party that everyone would enjoy and remember. Marc was the absolute shit. We "interviewed" a number of different DJs (when it comes to some of the rap we required, we knew a band wouldn't cut it) but were instantly sold once we met Marc. He was completely chill about everything, he never boasted about his skills or all the clubs he frequents, he just chatted to us about Music we liked, and how we saw the night progressing. I think it really helped that he seemed to have very similar taste as we did, so we knew we didn't have to request every single song. We went and saw him perform before the wedding too, and it confirmed our decision. One key difference that separates Marc from other DJs that I have heard at weddings is his ability to read the crowd and play hit after hit. I hate it at weddings when they play a couple of great songs and then throw in a slow song and the dance floor clears. He keeps the momentum going. Of course, he knew this is what we wanted, so that probably helped. Another thing I loved is that he also doesn't play the entire song. It's like this seamless transgression from Pop, Rap, and classics, and you cannot even tell. There literally was no down time from the moment he started spinning. Let's be honest, after you get through all the required stuff at a wedding, it's about the dance floor. And you don't want it to stop. He took requests from the right people (me and my wife), and kindly ignored the people I told him to. Marc also setup and did our ceremony. I look back at this and it was frigging awesome. Right before the wedding started, he played Take me to Church by Hozier (crushed), then as the girls were walking down the aisle, he played Skinny Girl by Bon Iver, and finally for my wife, Van Morrison Sweet Thing. We worked with him to come up with these, but they went over amazingly. I was almost in tears seeing my wife walk down the aisle to our song. No string quartet for us! If you opt to go this route, I will say one issue with this is that he spend the happy hour transferring to the dance floor area, so our cocktail hour didn't have any music. But we were outside and everyone was chatting anyway, so it worked out great. People have not stopped talking to us about the music. Marc, we love you.
