Josh was the DJ at our wedding a week ago. We couldn't believe how attentive, responsive, and easy to work with he was. He went above and beyond to make sure the day was special for us. From our first interaction through the final song of the night, he was personable and a pleasure to work with. Our wedding and reception went off without a hitch, and much of that was due to Josh. We even received several compliments on the music along the way. Without a doubt we'd recommend him for any event to which you'd need or want a DJ. Thank you so much Josh for the top notch customer service! read more

Josh was the DJ for our wedding a week ago, including the ceremony and the reception. Working with him was absolutely fantastic all around. During the planning process, he was super communicative, and asked great questions to understand what we were hoping for during the wedding; the day of the wedding itself, Josh was amazing, with everything from great MC energy, to helping us pull off a complicated dance performance with backing music, to playing great dance music and keeping our guests dancing all night, right up until our time at the venue ended. He really went above and beyond, and even brought an extra wireless mic that wasn't in our contract to help facilitate a singing duet performance we decided to add last minute. Couldn't recommend Josh more strongly! read more

Josh was our wedding DJ this last November and I couldn't recommend him enough! From start to finish he was focused on creating the exact vibe and energy we wanted out of our night. During the event he was constantly checking in with us, ensuring the music he was playing was good with us, offering to get us refreshments and overall just being amazing all around. If you're thinking of booking him for an event I would say do it! read more

Josh was amazing! Music is a big part of our lives, and of course a big part of our wedding day. He took our music suggestions and ran with them and we couldn't have been happier. I think the dance floor was full the whole night! He kept the vibe going and the party didn't stop until the venue had to close. Not only was he a great DJ but he was an attentive and respectful professional. From the beginning planning stages and after dinner planning meetings (to work around our schedule) to his participation in our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, to the last dance he was amazing. He listened to our requests to forgo night club lighting. He made sure we had a cocktail in our hand, he made sure the key songs and were played at the perfect time and at the perfect sound level. He stayed after to check in with us to be sure the day was a hit. We cannot say enough about how amazing Josh was. You can be sure he will make your event a hit! DJ Funklor - DJs Near Me

Josh was our DJ for our Oct 2021 wedding, and we are so grateful to have gotten to work with him. First off, during the preparation, Josh was the calm in what we felt like was the storm of wedding planning. In our calls with him, he was truly supportive, fun to talk with, and he took a load of stress off us. Due to Covid, he was super accommodating and rescheduled with us 2 times, no problem. He was very prepared for the sound system needs for our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, and all stages of the wedding went along seamlessly. Also we are super appreciative because Josh kept checking in on my husband and I throughout the day. All this is to say, he is extremely professional and a pleasure to work with. Now, onto his DJ skills, which are A++. At our wedding we had a range of people, from older folks to younger cousins, and we got so many comments on how amazing the DJ was. Josh knows how to read a room keep everyone dancing and engaged with the music. Guests emailed us later to say their knees hurt from dancing so much, and asking for his contact information to book him for their future parties. Also we were the couple that scramble wedding planned, and didn't have very much time to commit to music guidance. And with limited information on our music preferences, it was super impressive how Josh was able to play music throughout the cocktail hour and reception that created the exact vibe we were going for. So thank you Josh! In summary- if you have a wedding or any party - book DJ Funklor! You'll be so so happy you did! read more

After having a falling out with our original DJ, my wife and I were cautious about who to choose as our new wedding DJ. Josh came personally recommended by a friend who booked him for her wedding. From the get-go, Josh was pleasant to work with and did everything possible to keep us happy knowing we got burned by our former DJ. Our wedding was much longer than a typical wedding with our ceremony starting at Noon at SF City Hall and our cocktail hour/reception starting at 5pm at Gallery 308 in Fort Mason. We had a few calls leading up to the wedding to talk through music, MC needs and logistics. We felt confident that Josh would come through on our big day. And he definitely did! Admittedly, I don't remember much of what happened after dinner (open bar got the better of me), but from the stories I heard and videos I saw, people were dancing all night long! Josh did great to incorporate songs from playlists we put together for inspiration, but also threw in plenty more songs that kept people moving. There were a few things we struggled with when it came to working with Josh, but I think the struggles were felt on both sides. The main thing I would advise others to do is to stay in constant communication with Josh and mention any additional needs as soon as possible to sort out added costs and logistics. Despite the tough back and forth at times, Josh was a constant professional. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding DJ and MC. Thank you, Josh! read more

Josh was the best DJ for our wedding that we could have hoped for. When I was choosing music vendors, I had some initial calls with several DJs and Josh stood out immediately with his patience, his knowledge of music, and his focus on understanding exactly what we was looking for out of our DJ / out of music throughout our wedding. He picked up on the nuances that would make audio for the wedding a little complicated (tricky wind situations outside, a diverse group of guests who would want different music played) - but he figured out how to make it unique and truly special. We talked a couple times before the wedding and I also sent him a few Spotify playlists I made for inspiration. Even though a lot of it wasn't danceable, he found ways to weave the music my wife and I love into the entire lovely day. He knew we loved music, that were sentimental, and that we wanted to rage - and he kept playing songs I loved that I myself had forgotten about. It was like he was reading my mind and the room at the same time. When it came time for the dance party, he wove together a beautiful musical tapestry while experimenting with a few different vibes and genres based on the playlists I gave him and he kept the dance floor full (which wasn't an easy task with guests across three generations and hailing from the US, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Israel). He checked in with us throughout the night too to make sure we were psyched about what was being played (and he came to snag me when my wife was losing it on the dance floor and I outside grabbing a drink with some friends). Josh took the time to listen to what was really important to us. And, man, he delivered. He saw the beautiful wedding we were trying to create for our friends and family and it wouldn't have been the same without his awesome presence and musical talent. read more

We worked with Josh for our wedding in May of 2021 at a Sonoma winery. We are so happy with our decision! Josh was extremely on task and focused. We explained what type of vibe we wanted / how we envisioned our wedding and he took that information and knocked it out of the park! There were certain songs that we wanted cut short vs some songs we wanted played longer and he remembered that information on the day of which was great. Everyone had an awesome time at our wedding and it's because the music was on point. People were dancing the entire night which is exactly what we wanted. We would highly recommend Josh for any party that needs a DJ! read more

Highly recommend. Josh was an absolute pleasure to work with for our May 2019 wedding at Straus Home Ranch. Leading up to the event, he took great care to understand the type of music we wanted throughout the day and what we wanted to achieve with the music overall. His attention to detail and professionalism set him apart from every other DJ we contacted while doing our research. On the day itself, he nailed everything - the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and dance party. Dozens of friends and family have shared that the music was one of the highlights of the wedding for them. I think where Josh truly shines is in his ability to improvise, which highlights his expertise as a musicologist and his emotional intelligence. The example that sticks out for me is when, during the dance party, Josh started getting deep into some EDM as I had requested. He noticed that while a small group of people (with me in the middle) was getting extremely into it, the majority of the party was avoiding the dance floor. He started weaving in some more generationally inclusive music that got EVERYONE dancing, and an epic wedding dance party was born. Josh ended up playing a critical role in a truly unforgettable day. read more

Josh DJ'd our wedding this June at Straus Home Ranch. He went above and beyond. My husband and I are both shy people and Josh had a lot of helpful suggestions to mitigate our anxieties about the big day and specifically our first dance. We had so many people tell us this was the best wedding they had been to and no doubt Josh played a huge role in making that so. People were dancing the whole time, 5 year olds to 89 year olds. He played a great mix of music and kept the party going. I have been to a lot of weddings where things feel awkward and almost forced, this was not the case with how Josh ran things. Everything felt seamless. He reads the room incredibly well and is much more than someone who is just playing music at your event. He was such an important part of our wedding day and I can not recommend him enough. read more

DJ Funklor was the BEST! My husband and I used him for our wedding in Bodega Bay. He did a fantastic job. He had a huge task, we had a rather large guest list of 150 people and the age range was even bigger, from 2-90 years old, and he played something for everyone! The music was such a huge part of the day to us. He did an awesome job. So well, in fact, that my husband and I had to christen the dance floor before the actual first dance! He was awesome. I highly recommend him, we are still getting compliments on him and the whole night! Thanks again DJ Funklor!! read more

We asked Josh to DJ at our wedding and couldn't be happier with the result! He really knows how to read a room and create a playlist based on very limited information. I think we gave him about 20 songs and from there he created the perfect mix. He was also extremely professional and very easy to work with. We would definitely recommend Josh for weddings and big parties, he really is the best of the best. read more

Are you planning a wedding? Are you music obsessed and/or a musician yourself? This is your guy. He will make your wedding fun for your guests, play things that are related to the music you love that you never knew about and give you life. Josh really went the extra mile for us (even making sure we had food). He's amazing, you can't go wrong, and he puts you and your family first. The review below from the Persian-Hip Hop wedding says it all. Beyond all this, he's just a good guy, communicative, professional and easy to work with. My only regret is that we didn't have a chance to visit the site together before the event which presented some logistical challenges (that he handled on the spot really well). One more thing, he played our ceremony music and achieved exactly what I was looking for in terms fo flow, I was dancing on my way to the aisle. read more

Josh dj'd our wedding and was an absolute pro to work with. He was really responsive and proactive, reaching out to us both before and during the wedding to ensure we had the music we wanted and were happy. Our friends all loved the dance party we had going, and Josh kept everyone out of their seats on the dance floor. He's really great at reading a room! Also want to mention that he provided the sound system for our outdoor ceremony and it was perfect. Amazing setup, amazing equipment, and a total pro to work with...I'd highly recommend Josh for any DJ needs! read more

Josh DJ'd our wedding recently and we definitely couldn't have chosen a better DJ for our day. Josh was extremely professional from the 1st phone call until the last song. He was always looking out for what was in our best interest when it came to working with the venue to make sure everything from the ceremony set up to the dance floor sound was perfect. That's all before we even get to Josh's amazing taste in music, his ability to read the crowd, get people moving, and pleasantly surprise everyone with seemingly every song he played throughout the night. We heard nothing but compliments about the music that night and we're so happy we found Josh. If you are someone who cares about good music being played at your wedding, you just have got to go with Josh. Thank you Josh for making our wedding such an unforgettable day! read more

Professional. That's the first word that comes to mind. Josh (DJ Funklor) knows his music, and he had everyone on the dance floor on the night of our wedding banquet. He read the crowd, and kept things going smoothly all night long. Everyone had a blast. He even gave me a few words of wisdom to me to keep me from getting too wound up in the X's and O's of the timeline. In the time leading up to the wedding, he invited us to hear him in action, set up calls with us to understand what we were after, and was generally ridiculously easy to work with. We were both instantly comfortable working with him, and he delivered in spades. If you're looking for the real deal, someone who knows their stuff and takes the time to hone their craft, Josh is your guy. If we could give him 6 stars, we would. read more

Josh is a wonderful DJ! We hired him for our wedding in September. He kept everyone on the dance floor partying the night away! All age groups were dancing and it was a truly phenomenal experience. We had friends and family a month later calling us wishing that they could go back to the party. From ceremony to end of the night, Josh knows exactly what he's doing and is amazing at it! Will 100% hire him again for any future events. The best thing a host can do for his/her party is to hire Josh as the DJ! read more

First of all I have to start with our wedding date was 4th of July in San Francisco at the Presidio Golden Gate Club!! We had a deal with Mayor Ed Lee to throw in Fireworks at no additional charge. DJ Funklor met with us prior to our wedding, took us out to dinner in the Mission, invited us to a few local gigs and made us feel like his family. He cleared his schedule and made sure he showed up with that type of Bay Area pop we were looking for. We asked for a 90's Bay Area Hip Hop/R&B and a Latin feel. Although we threw a last minute curve ball at him he came through without any issues. We coordinated a wedding entrance video and brought the house down in laughter. DJ Funklor is a true professional and I would recommend his services to anyone in need of a DJ service. read more

Josh deejayed our wedding reception in March this year, and he was just incredible! My husband and I have very different tastes in music, and Josh somehow managed to reflect both of us in the music he played because he made an effort to get to know us beforehand and get a sense of how we wanted the night to go. He asked us about any "must-play" songs, and gave us the option to really control the setlist. I appreciated the gesture, but I really recommend you just let him take the wheel because he put together a remarkable set that had everyone on their feet and dancing the entire night! He really has an innate talent in not just planning the music around the newlyweds, but getting a good sense of the vibe of the reception and catering the music around that. We actually hired Josh because he had deejayed our friends' wedding, and while both receptions were full of dancing and happiness and fun, each one felt unique in a way that tends to get lost when it comes to weddings. Beyond the music, it was just such a relief to be able trust him entirely. With Josh, we didn't have to worry about if our venue had this or that piece of equipment because he took care of all that. Hiring Josh was definitely one of our best wedding-related decisions! read more

Josh DJ'ed our wedding and kept the dance floor packed throughout the night. He also executed flawlessly during the ceremony. We recommend using DJ Funklor for your wedding. read more

Josh was absolutely fantastic. One of the best parts of my 40th. He seamlessly read the eclectic group of people at my home and spun some great stuff. Had a great dance party as a result -- exactly what I wanted. As others have said, he is extremely professional and responsive. I would not hesitate to hire him again for any function I had. Thanks Josh! read more

NAILED IT. We knew going into our wedding that outside of great food, music was the most important component in creating the night we wanted, and wanted people to remember. Like I said above, Josh absolutely nailed it. Time and again throughout the night I looked at my new husband and shrieked, "I love this song! Did you tell him to play this!?" "Nope!" new-husband replied. And this is the story of Josh- he will play the songs you have forgotten how much you love, play the songs that represent every piece of your life, play the songs you never requested, but now know your wedding wouldn't have been whole without. He's an artist and should probably be a psychologist too as he figures out people and crowds really damn fast :). Highly recommend Josh for any event that you want to be an incredible and memorable experience! read more

After talking with a few newlyweds about our search for a DJ who truly knows how to keep the crowd dancing for our wedding, we were pointed in the direction of DJ Funklor. After speaking with him in our initial phone conversation, we were thoroughly convinced he was the man for the job, and we were right. Josh truly shines at his job. On the day of the wedding, he was prompt at setting up his equipment. He showed up early to make sure everything worked. While my wife and I were taking photos after the ceremony, he checked up on us and even brought us appetizers that were being served, as well as any drink orders that we requested. He did this several times, making sure we were satisfied on our special day. During the cocktail hour, Josh was quick to adjust the playlist based on our guests, as he reads a crowd very well. As we sat down to eat, he adjusted our playlist once more, and it was perfect. It was actually one of my favorite moments of the wedding day. He made it feel like every event in our very busy timeline felt punctuated. Every concern I had, he was quick to give advice and made adjustments accordingly. Once the dancing started, it felt like listening to a radio station where they play everything you want to hear, each song building off the last. After seeing videos of some of the dancing, I noticed that the dance floor was packed with people! This was exactly what my wife and I wanted, and Josh made our vision a reality. Many of our guests left the reception wanting to keep dancing, everyone left satisfied, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our decision to book Josh. I strongly recommend that you hire Josh for your DJ needs, and communicate as much as possible with him. My wife and I visited him several times the entire year leading up to the wedding. He was easy to form a friendship with, which was very helpful in the overall experience; we felt comfortable coming to him for any concern we had, and he always offered his advice based on his large experience working at weddings. Look no further, you won't be disappointed! Reach out to DJ Funklor! read more

DJ Funklor was one of a couple of DJs recommended to us for our wedding in Marshall, CA in September 2015. After speaking to him we pretty much made a decision on the spot to go with him. Josh is so warm and confident and professional that we knew we were in great hands. We shared our music tastes and gave a few song recommendations and then, based on other rave reviews we had read about him, gave him space to just do his thing. He was awesome! We had a small wedding and he had the dance floor full the whole night. He hit all the key timing perfectly and couldn't have been more fun to have at our wedding. He was flexible on the day of with timing and was able to stay a bit longer to keep the party going. He really is so professional and easy to work with. I really don't see how anyone could go wrong with choosing DJ Funklor for whatever event they are planning. Thanks for everything, Josh! read more

He was professional and attentive to our needs throughout the wedding process; in addition he has a great knowledge of music across genres. He handled the music from the pre-ceremony, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. He incorporated songs for the older crowd and the younger crowd as well. We had discussions on the phone about the music and the game plan for the special day. Furthermore, we collaborated over certain songs which was very helpful. He did a great job with the timing of the music throughout wedding such as the announcement of the wedding party. In my opinion, the music can bomb the wedding or it can elevate the wedding and our DJ definitely provided environment that was memorable. There were no dull moments on dance floor to the say the least. Lastly, our guests at the wedding definitely expressed how much they enjoyed the music at our wedding, so I want to say thank you from the Carr's for the amazing experience. DJ Funklor is the gold standard of DJs! I first danced to his funky tunes, mumble mumble years ago, and became pretty hooked on his style and perfect flow! He reads his audience so well and knows exactly how to infuse energy and fun into the room and get people dancing. So, when I decided to have a wedding-themed birthday party this year, I knew he was the perfect choice. A good DJ doesn't just stand in a corner and play music, they actually set the tone and the pace for the night. Josh was amazing at getting everyone on the dance floor, incorporating my dorky song requests, and winding down with a chill song to close out the night. He was extremely clear in his communications about his services, timing, and pricing. His presence is fun, commanding, a little surly, and super supportive and loving. He is a true professional who takes his role in your event seriously and does everything he can to make it feel like a really special event. read more

Josh was the DJ for our wedding last month, and I would highly recommend his services. He took the time to understand our music preferences well in advance of the wedding, and he kept the dance floor packed throughout our reception. Josh also cued the music for our ceremony and it couldn't have been better. I would also say that Josh is very affordable for the quality of his service. Thank you Josh for helping to make our wedding so special! read more

When people asked my husband and I what we were looking forward to most about our wedding, our top answer (after getting married of course) was that we were looking forward to our DJ! My husband and I both placed good music as one of the top priorities for our wedding. We wanted someone who could get the crowd on the dance floor but who was also familiar with some deep cuts to surprise and delight our guests. Josh's knowledge of music and experience performing for many artists themselves (!!) is unparalleled to any DJ in the Bay Area. Not only was his playlist at our wedding absolutely killer, but he was incredibly professional and reasonably priced. He was always easy to get a hold of to talk through details before the wedding and he checked in on us multiple times throughout the night of our wedding to make sure everything was going the way we envisioned. He also was able to seamlessly mix in some Irish and Italian heritage songs that were requested from my husband's side of the family with Stevie Wonder, Kanye West, Frank Ocean, The Beatles and Beyonce, to name a few. He is brilliant and we are looking forward to hearing another one of his sets again at Drake's Dealership or another venue in the Bay Area. Josh was the DJ for my daughters Quinceanera a few weeks ago. I read about him on Yelp and he got such great reviews from everyone, that I definitely wanted to reach out to see if he could handle the music for our event. I got in touch with him, telling him a bit about the Quince that I was throwing for my daughter in about three months time. He got back to me immediately, (within a couple of hrs, which was really nice), and we settled on a date we could talk on the phone. On that date he called me and we talked for about an hr! He was really interested in knowing a bit about us and what we wanted. So right from the start he was very responsible about getting back to me quickly and spent as much time as necessary finding out about what i was looking for. After a month or more, I sent him a long list of songs, that I was hoping could be played at the event. He wrote back and said the songs would make great party music, but what about the music that my daughter wanted! (She has very different taste in music from me, being that she is 15!) So about 6 wks later, we had another phone date with him and he communicated with my daughter in a very caring, and professional way. On the night of the Quinceanera, Josh showed up early to set up and played music appropriate for all the different parts of our Quince. From the guests arriving and just chatting with each other, to the couple of ceremonies we had, to later in the evening, when everyone, young and old, from the 5 yr old, to the parents and teens, got up and "shook their booties" to the great music being played! I would highly recommend Josh as the DJ for your next event, whatever that might be! read more

We had Josh DJ our wedding this past September and he was amazing. He was an absolute pro from the start. He listened to our vision and followed-up responsively in lead up. He struck the perfect balance of being proactive and available, but easy to work with. He has an extensive knowledge of music across a wide range of genres. The day of, he set-up his gear, coordinated with other vendors, and contributed to an awesome party. He went the extra mile, doing all the little things over the course of the whole night. He made sure that his music worked for every part of the wedding--cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. He also made sure that my wife and I were taken care of, and that we were happy throughout. Our wedding wasn't in the easiest of venues, and Josh navigated it all gracefully. I couldn't recommend him more strongly. read more
