He is experienced, knowledgeable, hardworking and very talented. He is well known and highly recommended by other wedding vendors and coordinators in the bay area. During the planning process, Jason was very helpful and had great suggestions for our event, from music selection to décor and how to plan our layout to optimize the sound system, dancing and other important moments of the night. During our wedding Jason and his team worked like clockwork. From the sound system and music at our ceremony to the dance floor music and lighting at the reception, Jason was on cue for every minute of the day and night. My wife and I hired Jason to DJ and do the lighting at our wedding in March. We could not have been more happy with how everything turned out. Jason coordinated with our wedding planner to make sure everything ran smooth. This included setting up all the up-lighting for our ceremony/reception, as well as all his DJ booth on the stage with awesome lighting around it. All the mic's worked great during our ceremony, as well as for the speeches during the reception. During dinner, I wanted a couple specific songs played, so I texted Jason, and the requested songs were put on immediately, which was great. DJ-JM killed last night at the 500+ Holiday Party for PureStorage! That dance floor wasn't big enough for the crowd he had moving and shaking. He crossed genres, decades, styles to engage everyone including the execs & interns. He had most people dancing through the Last-Call which is not an easy accomplishment for a corporate gig. I met Jason at a Bridal Faire and took his card for the future. I could always use a dj, and a good one at that. So I was throwing a party for my girlfriend this past friday, and it was a BBQ, pool bachelorette party. He was awesome! He was right on time, actually he was early which was great love a vendor that is punctual! Also, his setup in my backyard was awesome! I got so many compliments on his music, and his djing. With the lights he brought to put over my pool, and the super slim speakers that didn't take up a lot of space, I have to say I was very impressed! My girlfriend loved the music, and the atmosphere Jason created for us! I even had several friends ask for his contact iinformation for their future possibilities. You know they're good when your friends are drunk and still wanting to get their info so they can hire them at some future event. Jason braved a cold October night to DJ our wedding last October. We had very specific requests, and he did not disappoint. We provided Jason with what was probably an obnoxiously long lists of requests during the cocktail hour and he played every one. One of my favorite moments of the wedding was toasting with one of my best friends only to hear my favorite song playing in the background. Last night I had the opportunity to see Jason Mitchell DJ at Gatsby themed event. As a dj myself, I had to get on here and share my experience on yelp. Jason is actually on the preferred vendor list of the Lafayette Park Hotel, where our wedding reception took place. I only arranged one meeting with a DJ, which was him, and I must say, my husband and Jason talked so nicely about music and starting your own business, that the choice was clear! The only question was, where do I need to sign.. Jason is very helpful along the way, providing music list samples, and accommodating you with meetings and discussions about the timings of the event. Jason was so wonderful to work with for our wedding in June! He was extremely kind and personable from the start. He offered so many great suggestions based on the theme, guest list, atmosphere, etc. for our wedding. We really wanted to incorporate both live music and a DJ into our wedding reception and Jason made this happen. He booked a jazz trio for our cocktail hour and during dinner who he had previously worked with. We received so many compliments on the musicians and how perfect this fit the mood and the venue. Jason did an amazing job at our wedding! Leading up to the event, he was happy to make himself available by email or phone to talk through questions, logistics, and the event timeline. He also made suggestions for the type of music we'd want to be playing at certain points of the evening. We had a couple of special music requests (Beatles music for the ceremony, Latin music for cocktail hour and dinner, etc.), and during and after the party we had lots of friends complimenting us on the music and asking who our DJ was. We hired Jason Mitchell to provide the music & DJ at my daughters wedding held in our backyard in August 2012. He created a play list that appealed to everyone who attended, from ages 3 to 85, and exactly fit with what the bride and groom were hoping for. Jason DJed our August wine country wedding and he was fantastic. Of all our vendors, Jason was probably the easiest to work with - professional, helpful, responsive, low-key, on-time, and a completely sweet and likeable guy. Plus he brought ideas to the table when we needed them but let our ideas reign when we wanted anything a certain way. Then, at our actual wedding, the dance floor was packed to the brim the entire time due to Jason. There was not a single song that didn't have a full dance floor... and we had our parents' crowd and even a few grandparents dancing along with all of our friends. He played all of our requested songs, but also read the crowd and played more 90s hip hop (as we went to high school in the 90s...) and pop. It was hardly edgy music, but perfect for our wedding. Finally, Jason's style was absolutely perfect in emceeing the wedding (announcing us, moving the crowd to sit down for dinner, cake cutting, etc.). He had good energy but was understated - not cheesy or hamming it up at all. All in all, Jason was a fantastic find and I couldn't recommend him higher. read more
