When I booked Jason for our wedding DJ, I snagged his last Saturday for the month of September. During the months of wedding planning before our event, it became very clear why DJ Jason Mitchell was in such high demand. Jason is a great DJ, entertainer and MC. He is experienced, knowledgeable, hardworking and very talented. He is well known and highly recommended by other wedding vendors and coordinators in the bay area. During the planning process, Jason was very helpful and had great suggestions for our event, from music selection to décor and how to plan our layout to optimize the sound system, dancing and other important moments of the night. During our wedding Jason and his team worked like clockwork. From the sound system and music at our ceremony to the dance floor music and lighting at the reception, Jason was on cue for every minute of the day and night. After coordinating a sweet first dance and parent dances, Jason opened up a fantastic dance party and kept the dance floor going the whole night long. He had everyone on the dance floor, even people who never danced before. I am so happy we had Jason as our wedding DJ. I would absolutely recommend him and would love to have him at future events. read more

DJ Jason Mitchell - Our end of the night photo with DJ Jason Mitchell and his crew - DJs Near Me

"Your wedding was totally fun. Everybody danced!" were the words from most, if not all, of my friends and family. We owe much of the credit to our fantastic DJ, Jason Mitchell. Our main concern was to keep our guests dancing throughout the night until our taco truck showed up at the end of the reception. ;) Our wedding was on 7/8/2011. I'm really into music and I wanted someone who can keep the celebration vibe flowing but also adhere to the timeline. Jason delivered just that, professionally and nicely. Jason definitely was personable from the beginning; not at all pushy or arrogant like some other DJs we interviewed. He listened to our wants, needs, and ideas with enthusiasm and really worked with our budget. Another important feature Jason offers is the mood lighting; it's a total must-have when you put on a big party with great music. He also worked really well with our other vendors. We highly recommend DJ Jason; he'll keep things poppin' and off-the-hook! read more

My wife and I hired Jason to DJ and do the lighting at our wedding in March. We could not have been more happy with how everything turned out. Jason coordinated with our wedding planner to make sure everything ran smooth. This included setting up all the up-lighting for our ceremony/reception, as well as all his DJ booth on the stage with awesome lighting around it. All the mic's worked great during our ceremony, as well as for the speeches during the reception. During dinner, I wanted a couple specific songs played, so I texted Jason, and the requested songs were put on immediately, which was great. Once dinner and speeches were complete, the curtains were drawn to reveal the DJ booth Jason and his team had set up. From the rest of the night on, Jason chose great music to play for our guests. I don't remember a time when the dance floor was not packed. From our first meeting and through our wedding day, Jason was a professional, and a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive, and put us at ease with any pre-wedding stress we were feeling. Would highly recommend working with Jason, whether it be for a wedding or any other event, as he will get the job done, and do it extremely well. You can tell he cares about his clients. read more

DJ Jason Mitchell - DJs Near Me

Jason was the DJ for my sisters wedding in Danville, CA and he had the prefect blend of old school songs mixed with some current music that really had all generations coming onto the dance floor. I would definitely recommend him for any of your future events. He knew when to switch it up and knew how to let the crowd know what was going on when he was working as MC. Good stuff and much thanks. read more

Jason was my wedding DJ and did an AWESOME job! The dancing never stopped and everyone had a blast. We had so many compliments on the music and everyone had a great time. I have memories to last a lifetime! Also...I work for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and because he was so good at my wedding, I asked him to help us. He did! He spent an entire day volunteering his time rather than making money on another job to help us with our kick off event. He was beyond amazing taking control of the crowd and keeping our party moving. I would recommend him for any event. He is an amazing guy with a huge musical talent. read more

For my wedding, Jason did a great job. He understood what I was looking for musically and executed with much success. His music kept the audience going, long than I had anticipated (a plus!). Additionally, he followed my instructions to a tee, everything a bride wants and needs. Throughout the entire process, he was responsive and helpful. I'd recommend him to everyone. My only minor gripe is that his assistant wore a dress that was too loud for the occasion, especially since the DJ area was front and center. Solid print apparel would have been more appropriate. read more

I met Jason at a Bridal Faire and took his card for the future. I could always use a dj, and a good one at that. So I was throwing a party for my girlfriend this past friday, and it was a BBQ, pool bachelorette party. He was awesome! He was right on time, actually he was early which was great love a vendor that is punctual! Also, his setup in my backyard was awesome! I got so many compliments on his music, and his djing. With the lights he brought to put over my pool, and the super slim speakers that didn't take up a lot of space, I have to say I was very impressed! My girlfriend loved the music, and the atmosphere Jason created for us! I even had several friends ask for his contact iinformation for their future possibilities. You know they're good when your friends are drunk and still wanting to get their info so they can hire them at some future event. Overall, I have never met a more professional and fun to have dj my party! Well worth it Jason! Thank you again! read more

DJ-JM killed last night at the 500+ Holiday Party for PureStorage! That dance floor wasn't big enough for the crowd he had moving and shaking. He crossed genres, decades, styles to engage everyone including the execs & interns. He had most people dancing through the Last-Call which is not an easy accomplishment for a corporate gig. I don't know who booked him but it was an A+ choice. read more

Jason was the best DJ EVER!!! He was the hit of our wedding and everybody had a blast. He played such a variety of music but also accommodated all my requests as well as the guests. We were on the dance floor all night. I am so happy he was recommended to us by the wedding coordinator. He was everything he claimed to be and then some. I wish I lived in the area because I would hire him for every event. Thank you Jason for making my wedding one of the best nights of my life. read more

Jason braved a cold October night to DJ our wedding last October. We had very specific requests, and he did not disappoint. We provided Jason with what was probably an obnoxiously long lists of requests during the cocktail hour and he played every one. One of my favorite moments of the wedding was toasting with one of my best friends only to hear my favorite song playing in the background. Not only did Jason play exactly what we wanted, he respected our requests as to what we didn't want. Not a single song with dancing instructions was played! Jason got and kept the party going all night long, and we all had the time of our lives. I would recommend Jason to anyone throwing a party, and I already have. read more

Last night I had the opportunity to see Jason Mitchell DJ at Gatsby themed event. As a dj myself, I had to get on here and share my experience on yelp. In the DJ world sound is everything and Jason definitely brought sound quality control. He had speakers for both his highs and his lows. Subs were brought as well for the bass. His transitioning from one track to another were very spot on and full of creativity. I think would stood out the most from Jason was his professionalism. I was glad I had the opportunity to meet a local DJ from Sf. Daniel M. read more

Jason, you were everything we were looking for in a high-end, professional DJ for our wedding reception at the St. Francis Hotel in SF. Anna-Claire and I are deeply grateful for your professionalism, deft handling of our musical selections and your on point navigation of the reception schedule. You made for an incredibly unforgettable evening...and we weren't the only ones who took notice. Our family and friends commented during and after the reception on how impressed they were with you. And for anyone looking to create the ideal ambiance and mood for your event be sure to ask Jason and Gatsby Entertainment about their up-lighting (you will be blown away). Much Love to you and your team and thank you again for all that you did for us. Peter & Anna-Claire read more

Jason was our wedding DJ and he was perfect! He played all our songs, took requests from our guests and had us dancing away! We were referred to him by our wedding guru, Duncan Reyes, who told us he had a great DJ for us to meet and he was absolutely right! Through our entire wedding planning process, Jason met with us (a couple of times actually and it was so fun! He's such a great guy, we hit it off right away) he kept in contact and helped us choose our wedding playlist. He also provided us with killer uplights for our venue!! Jason is VERY experienced, professional and talented! We had a dream wedding with awesome music and we now have a new friend. Thank you so much Jason!! :-) read more

Jason is AMAZING. He is as kind as he is talented! My now husband and I love good music and love to dance - Jason absolutely did an amazing job at our wedding this past Saturday. Not only did he patiently listen to our list of song requests; he also kept the crowd dancing and enjoying themselves. It was awesome!! We could not ask for a better DJ - all our friends and family loved him and said the wedding had the best music! He is super friendly and relaxed, which helps out when you're in crunch time with wedding planning and need to keep calm :-) He gets our heartfelt recommendation to anyone who is looking for an amazing DJ who really keeps the party going!! Thanks so much, Jason!! read more

Jason is actually on the preferred vendor list of the Lafayette Park Hotel, where our wedding reception took place. I only arranged one meeting with a DJ, which was him, and I must say, my husband and Jason talked so nicely about music and starting your own business, that the choice was clear! The only question was, where do I need to sign.. Jason is very helpful along the way, providing music list samples, and accommodating you with meetings and discussions about the timings of the event. He is a great person and very professional. Everyone enjoyed the music selection, and I think, I gave him lots of freedom for the music selection, even though I prepared nicely for a long list of songs. Thanks again Jason for the great entertainment! Oh and the fabulous lights! Loved it all!! read more

DJ Jason DJ'ed our wedding out in Walnut Creek, CA on 9/5. Prior to to the wedding, Jason was really easy to get a hold of for questions and worries (via phone, texting, and email). Oh, please keep in mind we live in New York, and were organizing the wedding long distance. Jason was super accomodating, affordable, professional, and comfortable to work with. A few notes: Timing: Jason had the timings down for some really specific requests. We wanted a particular part of a particular song played for our entry, and he did it as I had imagined, and then repeated just the right parts. We also asked him to abruptly change from a slow dance to hiphop, and he transitioned it really well. Sound Quality: Jason set up two of his vertical speakers, which seemed plenty loud enough for the whole room to hear us...but some people in the back said they had some trouble hearing the MC (300 people capacity in square room, 268 in attendance). During the dancing, the music was plenty loud enough. Music Selections: We had a Hawaiian accented wedding, and during dinner, asked for some rather specific/obscure Hawaiian music, he accommodated and provided. Same for our first song, it was definitely not a pop song. He certainly had the latest dance music that we were looking for as well. Working with Jason: Seriously, zero problems. I bombarded the poor guy with a billion emails, and he handled all of our requests. ADDED BONUS: Jason threw up 6 or 8 uplights for free, as well as some ceiling light things that act like disco balls for dancing, also for free. I'd definitely recommend Jason for any events. read more

He won't just make your event extra classy but he also makes sure that the quality and value of his services are really exceptional. My hubby and I hired him to be our DJ and emcee for our wedding and he did a fantastic job! He was so attentive to all our requests and even though we are so stressed out in picking our songs and sending it to him the last minute, he was able to manage it. From the first time we met him until our wedding day, he was so calm, friendly and very professional the whole time. Everything turned out well during our wedding day and we are so thankful for having him as our DJ and Emcee. read more

Jason recently dj'd the annual holiday party. It was a great experience, awesome time with great music. He read the crowd perfectly and played the right music to keep the dance floor packed and happy. The highlight of the night was towards the end when he played "Billie Jean" by "MJ" the party "went off" as they say. Who would of thought. Hire Jason, you'll be happy and tired after a night of dancing. read more

Jason DJ'd/MC'd and did lighting for our July wedding. He is fantastic! From the first planning meeting to the last song of the night, Jason was in tune with what we wanted. He's so easy to work with and makes sure that he coordinates timelines with you AND your planner/coordinator, so you can feel at ease that he totally knows what he's doing and will make sure the night goes smoothly. He goes above and beyond what a normal DJ would do. Our group of friends LOVES to dance, so we told him that we wanted dancing time to have a club atmosphere. He did hot pink uplighting and played music that kept people on the dance floor the whole night, even when the hubs and I were not in the reception area! We were standing outside, the music was going, and we heard people cheering and screaming. Clearly Jason can keep the party going! read more

Contacting Jason to DJ our school auction was the BEST decision we ever made! He was professional, informative and genuine from the start. During the initial site visit, he met with our committee and answered all our questions, gave suggestions, and was to the point. And when we decided to add a lighting package, it brought our event to a whole new level of elegance, ambiance, and presence. Our guests were blown away by the transformation of our school gym, and there was no question from the start that Jason was going to deliver. From the administrative staff who handled the contract, to the efficiency of the lighting crew, and to the DJ and MC combination throughout the night, the entire experience was one of a kind. Coming from the guests, "the lighting was on point", "it was a such a beautiful event", "The DJ gave life to the after party when normally people go home. A large crowd of them stayed to the very end". Jason, you're awesome, and we look forward to working with you and your crew again!!! read more

Jason was wonderful at our wedding celebration. The timeline and event went so smoothly and Jason rocked the house with incredible music. Thank you Jason :) read more

Jason was so wonderful to work with for our wedding in June! He was extremely kind and personable from the start. He offered so many great suggestions based on the theme, guest list, atmosphere, etc. for our wedding. We really wanted to incorporate both live music and a DJ into our wedding reception and Jason made this happen. He booked a jazz trio for our cocktail hour and during dinner who he had previously worked with. We received so many compliments on the musicians and how perfect this fit the mood and the venue. Following dinner, Jason definitely proved his MC skills :) The entire reception was perfect and he did such a wonderful job keeping everything running smoothly, even when the ring bearer threw up all over the father of the bride moments before their first dance! Jason played such a great mixture of music and was able to keep the dance floor full the entire night. Every age group was on floor dancing, even my 89 year old grandmother!!! We were told by numerous family members and friends that the dancing and reception was one of the best receptions they have attended! Jason also did the up lighting, which really made the venue look even more beautiful. I would highly recommend Jason to any bride and groom for their reception as well as anyone looking for an MC for an event!!! read more

Jason did an amazing job at our wedding! Leading up to the event, he was happy to make himself available by email or phone to talk through questions, logistics, and the event timeline. He also made suggestions for the type of music we'd want to be playing at certain points of the evening. We had a couple of special music requests (Beatles music for the ceremony, Latin music for cocktail hour and dinner, etc.), and during and after the party we had lots of friends complimenting us on the music and asking who our DJ was. In addition to setting the tone for our wedding and making sure that everyone had a good time during the reception, Jason also worked with our other vendors like the caterer and photographer to make sure that the event ran according to the timeline he had helped me to build out. The whole evening ran so smoothly thanks to him. I also appreciated that he brought nice slim Bose speakers that weren't bulky (and popping up in our photos). I would definitely recommend hiring Jason for your wedding or other special event. read more

Jason did a spectacular job providing the music and lighting for our wedding this July in SF City Hall! He was recommended to us by friends who raved about his deejaying at their wedding. Jason did a truly phenomenal job and was great to work with throughout the wedding planning process. He is very professional, fun to work with, flexible and and accomodating. He took all of my music requests beforehand and incorporated them into the dinner and reception flawlessly. He also did a brilliant job mixing our Indian and American music requests. Our guests loved the blend and everyone from the youngest to the oldest guest enjoyed the music and dancing. We highly recommend Jason and are thrilled with the work he did for our wedding! read more

We hired Jason Mitchell to provide the music & DJ at my daughters wedding held in our backyard in August 2012. He created a play list that appealed to everyone who attended, from ages 3 to 85, and exactly fit with what the bride and groom were hoping for. More than that Jason read the crowd exactly and balanced the amount of talking vs music perfectly. He got the whole crowd going and everyone was dancing -- I actually thought I should have gotten a bigger dance floor for the occasion! The best compliment of all was that was that no one wanted to leave, and I actually asked him to stay a bit longer since everyone was having so much fun dancing late into the night. I would hire Jason Mitchell again in a minute! read more

I got married this past May and we hired Jason as our DJ. We could not have been more pleased. Every encounter with him was professional and extremely helpful. He helped us rearrange the order of our reception so that each event flowed smoothly. The music was amazing and he kept the dance floor packed the entire night. He showed up hours before the wedding to make sure everything was in order and things went off without a hitch. He even made our play list for us based on what vibe/genre of music we wanted. He was amazing! I highly highly recommend him! read more

Jason DJed our August wine country wedding and he was fantastic. Of all our vendors, Jason was probably the easiest to work with - professional, helpful, responsive, low-key, on-time, and a completely sweet and likeable guy. Plus he brought ideas to the table when we needed them but let our ideas reign when we wanted anything a certain way. Then, at our actual wedding, the dance floor was packed to the brim the entire time due to Jason. There was not a single song that didn't have a full dance floor... and we had our parents' crowd and even a few grandparents dancing along with all of our friends. He played all of our requested songs, but also read the crowd and played more 90s hip hop (as we went to high school in the 90s...) and pop. It was hardly edgy music, but perfect for our wedding. Finally, Jason's style was absolutely perfect in emceeing the wedding (announcing us, moving the crowd to sit down for dinner, cake cutting, etc.). He had good energy but was understated - not cheesy or hamming it up at all. All in all, Jason was a fantastic find and I couldn't recommend him higher. read more
