What a pleasant surprise! We live in Milwaukee and only visit Shawano once or twice a year. This was our first time at Anello's Torch Lite. We will be back on our next visit to the area! The food was outstanding. I would highly recommend that you try it. The atmosphere is very upscale but dress is casual. The prices are moderate for the quality of food offered. I had the liver & onions and it was delicious; so tender that I could cut it with a fork. My old-fashioned was a disappointment. But I think it was because it was made with whiskey instead of brandy which I ordered. Still, this doesn't keep me from giving this restaurant a 5-star rating. read more

Had to check out the new and "improved" Anello's Torch Lite. Mom celebrated her 82nd birthday here two weeks prior to my wife and I going. My family said the owner was very rude with a "take it or leave it" mentality. The night my wife and I went the waitress was a carbon copy of the owner. Rude and degrading, much like the food. There is nothing special about this place. Although the fish had a light batter, we received heavy battering from the staff and will not be back. Went to this restaurant for the first time on New Years Eve and definitely will not be going back again. Had reservations for 5:00 PM however when we arrived there was no one behind the hostess desk . We waited for at least 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged that we were standing there even though there were many waitresses and bus people walking past and standing right in front of us. Finally a waitress did come up to us and apologized and said the hostess will be with us as soon as she can. While we continued waiting for the hostess we were treated to a temper tantrum put by a hot headed waitress who evidently was mad at her manager as we could all hear her swearing at him and then she crumpled up a menu, threw it to the floor and stormed off to the dining room. When the hostess did finally seat us she offered no apology for letting us wait so long and no apology for the spectacle we all had just witnessed by the hot headed waitress so it appears this was all just business as usual for place. Service by Nikki and Sue was fantastic. They took care of all the details when my parents celebrated their wedding anniversary here last week. Visited on recommendation of Konkapot Lodge. Was a crowded Saturday dinner crowd. Nice size piece of Prime & the Duck Breast was very good. Twice baked had great taste but both orders had mixed veggies that were still cold from being frozen. Will give it another try when in the area read more

We had wonderful experience at Anello's Torch Lite. Both the bartender (Marnie) and the waitress (Stephanie) were friendly, pleasant, accommodating and attentive. Marnie is the first bartender in two years that did not hesitate when I asked for a Vodka Collins and the one she made me was absolutely perfect. Their salad/soup bar was very fresh along with the bread and whipped butter. Steak was cooked exactly as ordered and couldn't ask for better seafood (tiger shrimp & lobster tail). This just may be my favorite restaurant/bar to date in WI. read more

Rebuilt and nice. Acoustics suck though. Very loud in bar and dining area. Conversations travel throughout. Busy Friday night and seated within half hour-we arrived at 7:30 tho. Very friendly bartenders that pour generous drinks. Ordered the New York strip blackened. Flavor was awesome but a tough steak for medium rare. My companion had the ribeye, rare to medium rare, and was cooked perfect, hot and tender. We both had the twice baked potato which was very good-flavorful & creamy. Salad bar is a maze- not a very good set up when you need to jump around both sides and other customers to get what you want. Bussing staff very young, which is cool, but manners are not fitting for the clientele. One girl was running with dark sunglasses at 9:00 pm with a dark atmosphere and not sure she actually is seeing what she is cleaning! The other had a snotty attitude. Not good for customers to witness. Overall, would try again. GOOD help is hard to find these days! read more

Service was slow even though it was not busy. Old Fashion didn't really have any taste. Hostess was indifferent and not very friendly. Seem more friendly to the locals. Waitress was more friendly but didn't come around much. Clam chowder was very good as was the salad bar. Walleye wasn't the best but the perch was worth it. Not sure we'll go back. read more

I would like to start out by saying I would love to eat deep fried fish on a Friday night or beer battered cheese curds like your average person, but unfortunately I can't. I have an autoimmune disease and I have to watch what I eat or it will make it worse. Per doctors advice...I am gluten free. I have been for 2 and 1/2 years. I'm not happy about this, but have learned I have to do this to be healthy and feel well...so back to Anello's. My family went to Anello's to celebrate a very special event. We had twenty-some people in our dinner party. (Reservations were made weeks in advance.) We were to be seated at 6:00 p.m. We were seated much later due to the place being busy...no big deal! The waitress (one waitress for twenty-some people) came around to begin taking our order. I've eaten here before and have ordered a baked fish. It has been terrible in the past so I decided I would try something else. I asked the waitress what would be gluten free. She said we have gluten free pasta. I said great...how about the alfredo...she said the sauce isn't! I asked her to give me a minute. We had just been seated. She moved onto other people in our dinner party...which was fine. I decided to ask Rita, the owner if she could tell me what I could get that was gluten free. I apologized and said I know you are really busy, could I just have 2 minutes of your time...I explained that I am gluten free and asked what could be made gluten free. Her exact words were, " a steak is gluten free, fish is gluten free, any meat is gluten free!" She then asked if I as gluten free, I said, "yes!" She proceeded to tell me,"if you are gluten free, look at the menu and figure it out yourself!" Now a person could figure out if something was gluten free by looking at the ingredients in a recipe...these are not listed on the menu! I do not know what is in the seasonings or sauces that they use...and I'm not willing to get sick because they wouldn't say! Now I would have even been a little less upset had the person who said this been an employee, maybe they just didn't have people skills, etc. but this was the owner of the place! I have never been treated so rude before. For 2 1/2 years I've eaten at restaurants and people have been more than helpful. No one has suggested I figure it out myself! I ended up just eating salad, the waitress couldn't even tell me what they had for soup that night. She claimed she didn't know! As for the deep fried fish that looked so delicious....several people in our dinner party ordered it...it was dripping with grease and full of bones...absolutely disgusting they said. As we were finishing up dinner, our party was told by Rita that she had to be pushy and get us out...because others needed the tables. I have never been to a restaurant where we were hardly done eating and asked pretty much to leave. I will never go to this restaurant again! read more

We found the menu to offer a wide range of choices. A nice resort town restaurant without feeling you were in a resort town. An in-town country supper club. Nice atmosphere, excellent service. We enjoyed our selections and hope to go back again soon. read more

Don't waste your time. It is a total crap shoot on what you are going to get for food. "Alaskan King Crab" in your pasta means imitation crab meat. If you do decide to try the place keep in mind the owner does not care if you ever come back because she simply does not care if you are happy. read more

We were recently in Shawano during the deer hunt and dined at Anello's Torch Lite twice. The first time I had seafood alfredo. Ummm! Huge portions and absolutely delicious. The sauce was rich and creamy and oh so tasty. The second visit we had perch. Now in a state (WI) that's known for Friday night fish fries, there are many, many good restaurants, bars, and supper clubs that serve good perch. I have never had better perch anywhere! The coating was light and delicious and the portion was plentiful. They also have great italian and you must try their German steak. read more

Were there on a Thurs. night - walked through snow from Americinn for supper. Had steak for two. Delicious & reasonably priced! Our bartender was friendly & made darn good drinks. Wait staff helpful & very good. Couldn't ask for more! Thanks for making our Shawano visit such a nice one! read more

We went the Saturday evening of the Labor Day weekend. The bar was full and so was the dining room. The hostess seemed frazzled and didn't seem to know what to do. It was extremely loud and difficult to hear one another talk. After 30 minutes I noticed others coming in and being seated fairly quickly, so I inquired on how long it would be, and she couldn't find where we had registered. So then it was another half hour before we were even called to the table. 2 bartenders on staff is not enough for a large crowd. The menu was expensive, and the food was not tasty. The salad bar was out of plates. My steak, ordered medium well, was burnt, and the plate was hot to the touch, meaning it sat under the lamp for how long...the hostess wrote down a wrong item, which of course was double the price of what we wanted, and they didn't give us a break on the tab. The waitress took our money and didn't come back with our change. Will never come back again. Very disappointed! read more
