This place provides plenty of of available seating. Overall decorated nicely. There is a full bar as well. All the staff was very nice and attentive. I ordered a steak, prime rib, medium and the whole plate was cold. I couldn't put sour cream or butter on my potato because it would just sit there. I told the waitress and she said she'd fix it. When the steal came back it was gray and everything was still cold. My husband was almost finished eating so I packed up and took the food home. They microwaved the steak! Gross. Got our drinks and waitress came and asked if we were ready to order and proceeded to tell us , just so you know we have no steaks of any kind unless you want a steak sandwich. We ran 45 miles for steak!!!! Not a sandwich. Very disappointed!!! We then told her we will go somewhere else. Then told her we would pay our bill so we could leave. We were greeted as soon as we came in the door by Cindy! We celebrated our 36th Wedding Anniversary there. we were greeted as soon as we walked in! we were seated and ordered sodas. we ordered the rib eye steak with mushrooms and green beans and baked potatoes! us we that comes with it so we went a great salad to start out with everything was fresh. Steak was very delicious. I only got the small ribeye because I don't eat a lot but my husband had plenty on his plate and brought some home! Our server she was right on top of everything very busy but always at the table making sure we had enough of everything and asking if we needed any more refills on our soda she was very pleasant and really quite good at what she does We would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Ordered a filet, came out out very well done, ordered medium. No problem server came by, very sweet lady. Took the steak back they made another and came out rarer then rare. Waiter Agreed and took it off the ticket, after waiting 1 hour and 45 min I lost appetite. Owner insisted that I pay 15 dollars for the salad bar. WELL, I should have taken the previous reviewer's advice and NOT gone with the Walleye. I figured, it's been a year now, maybe they have improved. Nope. I just cannot recommend the broiled walleye, under any circumstance. It was not good. The texture was off, it was bony, and as others mentioned before, I don't think it was even really Walleye. Lesson learned I guess! The salad bar was pretty good. Everything was fresh. The chicken and dumpling soup was REALLY tasty! I had two bowls of this to make up for my non-edible fish. The twice baked potato is fantastic. Of all the things I tried, I would absolutely recommend this. Service was... meh. Our server was sweet enough, but she was slow at getting to us, slow at refilling drinks, slow at.. everything. It struck me odd that upon finishing our meals, she didn't inquire as to why I had eaten half of only 1 of the 4 fish filets on my plate. Oh well. There is also a weird "zoo" type thing behind the restaurant. I guess they are privately owned animals and treated more like pets, but they still draw a crowd. Mixed feelings on this. DO NOT order Walleye unless you like pike!!! Three of us ordered this and were very disappointed because we were expecting what the menu said was "walleye." This fish did not taste good and it was boney. The vegetables that came with the fish tasted like what we buy in the frozen section at the grocery store. I recommend the restaurant changes this since it was pretty disappointing. Order the perch for fish instead. This was a much better fish option. Also, it would be nice if they did not have a fried option only. Double baked potato was good. Chicken soup was too salty. There is no beer menu which I thought was odd. Also, I personally think the sequence vests need to go. This is a nice looking restaurant and should not have thier staff wear casino vests.... I ordered King Crab legs, I was informed price had been raised to $65 dollars! I asked the waitress if they were worth and she recommended them, so I did it. We got our table and went to the salad bar, which was great. After we finished our salads our waitress asked if we knew it was a long wait for our food, which we responded we had not been informed when ordering. Ordered another round of drinks and once again received the incorrect drink. At 9:10 we received our food and what a disappointment. My $65 crab legs were a joke. There were 2 half claws on my plate, but one of the claws was void of any meat. If you cannot deliver, take this off your menu! I may get screwed over once, but not twice. read more

I visited the previous Anello's and was not all that impressed. Those dinners were average at best and a little overpriced for the quality. The restaurant burned to the ground and has since been rebuilt so thought we'd give it another try. They seem to be doing well because the parking lot generally appears full. On entry I was very impressed with the decor and ambiance. The restaurant is very casual but has a nice modern look one would expect to find somewhere in a city larger than Shawano. That's the last of the good things I have to say in my review. The restaurant was moderately busy but not outrageously so for a Saturday evening. I could see 4-5 couples milling about near the hostess stand obviously waiting to be seated. The hostess (older woman who I think might be co-owner) was absent for quite awhile and then walked past the hostess stand several times without acknowledging my wife and I or another couple waiting ahead of us. Several waitresses walked by numerous times and none had the customer service thought to say "someone will be with you". This wait was several (at least 5) minutes before the hostess finally returned to the stand to take our name. The wait for a table was going to be about 30 minutes even though there appeared to be several open tables. The hostess offered that we could dine at the bar if we didn't want to wait. This seemed reasonable since the bar area appears very nice and there were maybe 10 people sitting at what is a pretty large bar. The bartender, an older gentlemen (think the husband of hostess & thus other owner) was clearing glassware and moving things around behind the bar. He made eye contact with me at least 3 times without saying I'll be right with you. Several more minutes went by and the man walked up to where we were sitting and was carrying an empty soda bottle. He bent down in front of us to put the bottle away and as he stood up, turned to walk away without even addressing us. He was not helping anyone else. I offered to him that their customer service was terrible and at that point had enough of Anello's. We got up and left. So no food rating here from the new but not so improved Anello's. We had dinner at Season's restaurant for the first time instead and were pleasantly surprised. read more

We haven't been here since they rebuilt so not sure what to expect. We didn't have a reservation so waiting 20 minutes wasn't that bad. Our waitress brought our drinks, but did not bring any bread, we watched as everybody else receive theirs. The highlight of the dinner was the salad bar. We ordered chicken parm, Alfredo with chicken and a medium rare prime rib must waited about 30 minutes. The prime rib was overcooked more like medium and the pasta dishes were so so at best. Choice of two soups both of which are good .The mushroom soup was loaded with mushrooms with a rich tasty broth. The deep fried bread cubes with side of spreadable cheese is addicting. My wife enjoyed the ahi tuna appetizer however you might think about putting the sriracha sauce on the side. Last time I ordered the perch platter and had more than I could even attempt to eat so this time I ordered the walleye and got 3 huge fillets (again too much if you are traveling, maybe a light eaters menu choice would be a option) . My kids had chicken tenders with fries which was excellent and the other had Mac n Cheese which was good. My mother had a ribeye, veggies, and a twice baked potato which was excellent. My cousin had the turkey caprese sandwich, which was good but on the greasy side. The salad bar was great. Good options and soup available too. One thing that's a definite plus is the mini petting zoo behind the establishment. While it's advertised as a petting zoo every where were signs that said they bite, pet at your own risk. So that's a bummer BUT it was great for the kids to go up and feed them. They loved it. It was a good photo op. The camel was particularly funny. This is probably the absolute worst restaurant I have ever been to, and I have been to many restaurants. There was no service to speak of - the hostess took our drink and dinner order. We had to ask several times for water refills and for drink refills. We sat there for 1.5 hours before our food came, and it was just barely hot. The restaurant was loud. No server came to ask us how the food was, did we need refills, etc. We had asked for separate checks, which we sort of got -- one check with the amounts calculated separately. The server who brought the check was rude and basically threw it at us and told us to pay at the bar. When we complained to the hostess, she blamed the kitchen. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. I can see why the place is for sale - I hope if it sells the new owners who understand that service is what keeps people coming back. read more

Dinner was delicious...salad bar was well stocked and offered a large variety. The tables are spaced nicely so you can enjoy your conversation. This is the best place for fish fry ever! Nice thin batter not thick and greasy either. The fish is so juicey, I always get the all you can eat cod, but what they gave me the first time around was all i could eat even took one piece home. My mom always gets the perch which is not all you can eat but they give you such a nice portion it was all she could eat also. The salad bar is small yes but it is fresh and has everything a salad conasouir would need to be happy. They also have this bread on the salad bar that is buttered and crispy and they have cheddar cheese spead for it ...ITS THE BOMB! Also two kinds of soup! Our first night in Shawano, WI my wife and I were looking for a restaurant we could take our son into and still grab a drink. We drove by here and thought we would give them a try. Upon entering it was easy to tell this was a favorite of the locals. It appears to be a house that was converted to a restaurant. When you walk in you enter the bar area. On the opposite end of the bar area from the entrance is the hostess stand. We had to fight past others waiting and people pushing past us to check in. Once checked in, they took us to a back area that was kind of cramped to sit. Okay, get the most out of the space, and the place was packed. We place our drink order and then we peruse the menu, which is large! I mean it has a huge selection, way too large in my opinion. It made ordering difficult because it had an eclectic selection. I ended up getting Liver and Onions with Bacon and a twice backed potato and Salad bar. The salad bar is your typical mom and pop restaurant style salad bar you see in any small town, nothing overly impressive. I love liver and onions. I only get it occasionally because my family hates it. This was not good liver and onions. The flavor was okay at best, but this was the toughest liver I have had. It was tough to chew and if I didn't know better I'd say it was grizzled. It was like eating the liver from an alcoholic cow that died of cirrhosis of the liver. I will say that the Clam Chowder on the salad bar was decent, it might be from a can, but I'm not sure. My family liked it, even the picky 9 year old. What I really liked was the twice baked potato. That was fantastic and probably one of the best I've had anymore (Sorry Mom!) My wife had a filet. She thought it was okay, nothing impressive and was disappointed that she ordered it Medium and it came medium well, closer to well done. The service was mediocre at best. We would go periods of time without our waitress checking on us for fresh drinks and then we had to wait to get our tab when we were done and then waited even longer for her to come collect. I have the impression that the Torch Lite is the local favorite in Shawano. Based on the clients and the attitudes of some of the people, it just seemed that this was the place to eat in Shawano. I found it lacking. I was less than impressed and I don't know that I would go back the next time I'm in Shawano. If this is Shawano's idea of Fine dining. I'll stick to burger joints. read more

We went around 4:30 and it wasn't busy but we stood there for literally 10 minutes while waitresses and the bartender walked by us over and over and didnt even acknowledge our presence. No hostess to be found. Finally we just went & sat in the bar and asked the bartender for menus. He looked annoyed with us and the waitress came over and she looked annoyed with us too. We couldn't figure out what we did wrong or why we werent getting seated!?! Later we noticed a small sign over in the bar that said "check in with bartender first" and noticed ppl sitting at the bar were being told their table was ready. I guess this is how they seat people at the place but how were we to know that!?! Nobody told us and the sign was not even near the entrance. It seemed like they were very friendly with locals/people they knew but had no desire to be friendly with new customers. Waitress acted totally bi-polar. Snapped at my husband with a nasty scowl for asking a normal question. Later on she got nicer but still, the whole way we were treated at the beginning was horrible. Too bad too cuz the food was great. Clam Chowder Poutine was the best thing ive eaten in a long long time. Salad bar was yummy with AWESOME soup choices. My husband loved the duck. The pasta I had was pretty good. I dunno but I hope a manager or someone reads this and realizes how people are being treated when they walk in the door. Went here the first week they reopened and it is a very nice bar and building. The service was ok, but they were busy with only 2 bartenders. The wait was longer than I think it should have been, lots of open tables, but still took them 20 min to have a table ready. Their menu was higher priced than other places I have been to in Shawano. Their salad bar setup is horrible. There was no room move around with more than 2 people getting salads at the same time(no line structure). Their portions of food were below average, but the taste was good. I would not make this a weekly place to get dinner, but maybe every few months. read more

Five stars on the interior of the supper club, which was very classy & clean. Five stars also for the salad bar, bread and soup (the steak & potato soup was excellent, as was their pasta salad). Three stars for the Entrees. The New York strip was excellent, but the rest fell short. Our party could not taste the garlic in the shrimp scampi, the beef was tough in the tenderloin steak tips, and the ocean scallops were small and unpleasantly sandy. I could not rate the servers. We had very poor service but I couldn't make the determination if they were poor servers because they were understaffed or if they would be poor in any circumstances. And lastly, zero stars for the hostess. When she wasn't seating someone, she cleaned tables, set them, filled the water glasses on the empty tables, all this while there were plenty of already clean, empty tables around to fill up, clearly make-work. What made it more of a slap in the face was that she would walk past all the tables with neglected diners, such as us, with our dirty salad plates still on the table, empty water glasses, no coffee or cream, no drinks, no clean napkins (we only had one small cheap paper napkin; very inadequate). While the waitresses were running a marathon, she walked at a snails place doing make-work. She could have been helping them but showed no desire to pitch in to make it a more pleasant dining experience. Several notes; First, I think our table was forgotten. There was one server for the whole room when we arrived and she took our order. Then when another server came on shift, our server went to the other side of the room and never came back and the new server on our side, never came to our table. We finally had to go ask for our food (over an hour), water, coffee, etc. Second, if you are busy and do not have the time to fill drinks, coffee, water, etc. Please at least leave a pitcher of the water on the table so we can help ourselves. Third, and this goes for all "fine dining", the butter pats are insulting. It takes forever to butter a potato or a roll and we have to leave our litter all over the table. Can't we please go back to having a scoop of butter in a small bowl? And don't say you can't, you did it for the sour cream. Fourth, obviously the dressy wait staff ( especially the hostess) went out the window with the staff shortage or lack of caring on the owner's part. You should take that off your "about us" message. read more

Oh Shawano, you never cease to amaze me. After an unsuccessful attempt at going somewhere else, we phoned ahead and were told they could accommodate a group of ~25 on a late Sat evening. So we arrived...much to the chagrin of the half dozen people that were trying to enjoy a peaceful dinner. The servers handled our boisterous party well. Some of us did get our food quite a bit later than others but when it came, the portions were large and it was quite good. Several people were very taken with the prime rib and I had a great chicken pasta dish. Afterwards we made our way over to the adjacent bar where we continued the drinks and weren't able to phase the elder bartender. Well done, elder bartender. He makes a mean sweet brandy old fashioned. The servers again were taking care of us and also weren't phased by the...err...amount of fun we were having. In conclusion and as far as Shawano goes, this is a nice place to grab a bite or a drink. If you get lucky, you might even get to hold a baby wallaby or pet a camel. read more

The waitress spilled on my father. The only positive is they are friendly about allowing an underage to drink with parent present. So at least I was able to enjoy a mediocre glass of wine. I should have checked the reviews first. We had 4 people in our party for dinner on a Monday night, around 6 at night. We were seated right away. The food was awful. Two of us ordered the poormans lobster, it had obviously been sitting for a while. It had a rubber consistency to it. The steak that was ordered Medium came to the table extremely rare. Had to send it back. The meatballs in the spaghetti were obviously processed. The seafood fettuccine was dry and sorely lacking in crab. The waitress named Sue was rude and should not be working with customers. Aside from the nasty looks and holier than thou attitude she had, she reached over plates to pour water rather than walk to the other side. We will not be coming back here for poor service and bad food. I highly suggest finding ANY other establishment. The chef cooks a special dish every Friday and he always thinks out of the box with a new way for preparing the fish and he usually knocks it out of the park!
