This hotel is totally ok for what you're paying for and for the location. It was $35 a night for me and this is right on one of the main drags of St. George. The manager was a totally lovely lady. The hotel itself is clean, shower has great water pressure, the bed was comfortable, the room was super clean, and the AC works super well. I was in a mountain biking trip and hotel is totally cool with you bringing the bike inside. I loved the Americana/mid-century modern vibe of this place. The downer was there was no ice machine which is kind of a bummer for a hotel is such a hit region or Utah. Very rude front desk lady. I made a reservation on booking.com and when I arrived I got turned away because of my service dog. She asked if he was a service animal or Emotional Support Animal. As I was half way threw my response of "He has his ESA papers and"... she cut me off rudely (huffing and puffing eye rolls and all) stating they don't to take ESA animals blablabla ...... Maybe let me finish talking?! He is also a registered service animal and has ADA/NSAR number. I walked to my car for a second and walked back to inquire about the cancellation policy and she had already printed out a flyer stating it was illegal to misrepresent a service dog. I laughed and threw it at her. The moment you started flapping your gums I realized I didn't want to stay anymore. 10/10 would recommend bringing a mattress or a memory foam pad to be able to actually sleep on the beds made of cardboard. Not to mention the BLACK MOLD growing in the bathroom! Worst hotel experience EVER! We were told we'd get a full refund and we are now having trouble getting 2/3 nights refunded, even though we were up all night coughing our lungs out. I will never go back and will never recommend this to anyone. I advise you to go somewhere else. Camping in January would be more comfortable than sleeping here. I'm not sure why I'm sometimes leary of discount motels. They always exceed my expectations. If you need perfection, don't stay here. This place is probably 70 years old. Yeah, it's old. If you just spent a week in one of Utah's National Parks and you need a place to clean up and relax this place is perfect. Comfortable bed. Clean. Not spotless, but clean. Everything you need. Refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, wifi, hot water, good water pressure. Quiet. Friendly staff. The best thing about this place? They offer a 10% discount at a local place for breakfast. This is a "mom & pop" type place and while the accommodations were fine enough, everything was hunky-dory until they overcharged me and I attempted to get a refund. I reserved a room (Friday-Monday) through booking.com (first time ever using the site). Every hotel within a 100 mile radius of St. George was sold out that weekend & I couldn't believe I got a room. I called the hotel to confirm the reservation and spoke to Vicky, the manager. I told her I used booking.com to make the reservation and wanted to double check it was legit since I'd never used it before and couldn't believe I'd found a room. I also asked what their cancellation policy was as our trip was for a soccer tournament that could end early. She told me it would no problem to tell her we would be checking out early and to just let her know as soon as we knew our plans. Well, we were able to leave a day early so I called the hotel and confirmed, again with Vicky, that we would not be charged for the last day as long as we checked out by checkout time on Sunday. On Sunday I was not able to get a hold of anyone at the hotel until my family was 2 hours away. At that point I was told we would NOT be getting a refund and would IN FACT be charged extra because we CLEARLY had dogs in the room. "The cleaning lady saw the hair all over everything." I was incredulous because there were absolutely NO dogs in our room (although we do have 2 at home so I told her it was possible hair transferred from the blankets we brought). She was skeptical but rescinded the threat of the pet charge. However, she mentioned she didn't know if she could give me a refund since I hadn't booked directly through them. She also told me I'd have to wait until the next business day since it was a weekend and charges hadn't cleared accounts yet. The next business day I checked my bank account and discovered they had actually charged me DOUBLE what my original reservation was supposed to be through a combination of 4 different charges and a refund. I called back and spoke to Vicky again. She told me she was incapable of refunding my money and snippily told me I needed to contact either booking.com or my bank because "that's how these things work." I asked, "so I'm going to call my bank and tell them to refund money you overcharged me? You have the ability to charge my credit card whenever you'd like but you are incapable of refunding my money?" ... "yes." I told her I wanted her to send me the invoice that showed what she had charged me and she told me she had to mail it. Really? I called booking.com and told them the situation. They very quickly, easily, and NICELY told me that I would be rewarded a refund and that they would take the lead in dealing with the hotel. I was finally refunded the money about 3 weeks later after providing some information to booking.com. What a headache. The hotel was fine enough according to my family and the first couple times I spoke with the manager she was very nice and friendly. I couldn't believe how quickly she turned nasty and came out swinging with accusations. The worst part though, was when they charged my credit card multiple times and told me they were literally incapable of refunding my money AND scolded me for not 'understanding how banks work.' I recently stayed here a few days ago the front desk person was nice and accommodating it cost me 55 dollars for one night Thursday to Friday.We couldn't enter the room until after 330pm which was fine.The room was nice it had two queen beds with a flat screen for each bed and one bed had a door separating it from the other room for privacy the bathroom was basic it only had a shower like the ones you see at a water park. The bathroom did have a weird smell but other then that it was fine. The a/c unit in the main room said it was 72 degrees but it was still warm in the room uncomfortably warm to sleep in at least. So me and my kids slept in the other room where it was ice cold and we could just cover up. The mini fridge also wasn't cold but the lady from the front desk fixed it. The WiFi sucks it kept kicking us off and we had to keep logging back in. For the price it was descent. read more

(Obviously this isn't a resort - it's rated on being a "Lil Ol' Motel" CALL THEM DIRECTLY! before taking a chance and booking this adorable little place, I called hotels.com (or something; whatever was listed on trip adviser.com) and the guy (who was very slow and tried to sell me several things before he even checked the vacancy) informed me that there were no rooms left. I dialed the Dixie Palms Motel direct on my man's phone, and they (surprise!) had two rooms left. WHEW! Derek (if I recall correctly) answered the line and was courteous, professional, and helpful. I told him that my boyfriend and I were on the road and needed a room for that evening. Since the only two rooms that were left were suites, he only charged us the standard rate (ONLY $50!!). Checking in was quick and easy. Derek was kind in nature and again, very professional. We got to our "room," and it turned out that the suite was more like a little apartment! 3 quaint little bedrooms, a full kitchen, and lil bathroom were all ours, for the lowest price I have ever paid to stay ANYWHERE! The place is old, you can tell, but it was clean and tidy. The sheets were bright white, but not starchy, and the pillows were super! The bed was surprisingly comfortable and seemed new. I think they must have done some remodeling, which included mattress and pillow updates to go with the exterior. Upon going outside in the morning, I noticed that all the brickwork looked spraywashed or newer, as well as all the window trimmings, and other things like lamps and so on. I always wanted to stay in a lil motel, just once, and I am so glad Dixie Palms was the one we chose! St. George is quiet, and seems like it got stuck in a time-warp; in a good way. THE LOW DOWN: I wanted to love this place. I always like to support family owned businesses. Here is my synopsis. Hope it helps. THE PROS: The rooms have reasonably comfortable beds, a refrigerator, microwave and coffeepot. THE CONS: The floor in our room was bumpy and the carpet soiled, so did not take my shoes off. The bedspreads had obvious stains which creeped me out. Air conditioner wasn't working in 108 weather. They had no fans or ice for guests. The electrical circuits are overloaded and appear to be a fire hazard. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

Fairly close to the highway and locally owned. It's an older place but the room was clean. Bathrooms are a little dingy and small but not a big deal as it's one of the cheaper spots in town. Microwave, fridge, cable, wifi. Window unit for a/c so might not want to come through dead of summer, but it was in the 90s and we were fine. Food across the street or tons of things deliver here. Tip - stay behind the shower curtain when turning on the shower or you'll get sprayed. read more

Initially I was worried about the quality of room I was getting for the price. However upon inspection my fears were put at ease. The AC definitely works because the room was freezing when we walked inside (and we stayed there in July). I opened up the window for a bit and it was fine. Wifi worked right away too. On the outside, Dixie Palms appears to look like a tired old 1950's motel court in need of an upgrade. But upon staying here for two nights our impressions quickly changed. Absolutely pleasant and friendly front desk service. The rooms are modest in size but come with plenty of amenities that we weren't expecting. Room service did a stand out job of keeping the place clean and tidy during our stay. For the price I booked over the phone (CALL THEM, don't book online through travel sites) this was super fantastic!!!! Clean, nicely appointed room, they had turned the air conditioning on before we got there, so we were greeted with a beautifully cool room, wonderful considering it was about 105 when we got there 8ish at night in August. The man at the front desk was super friendly--recommending a local hike which we sadly didn't have time for. And also was able to give us concise and tailored suggestions for somewhere to eat nearby. I have to say, I'm so happy we stayed here, talk about supporting small business, this is a family run motel, and it was nice to get such great service from the owner himself! If you want a clean, comfy place to stay the night so you can get on the road/get your touristing on with a happy smile on your face, THIS IS THE PLACE. The bathroom is a bit small, but how much time do you really plan on spending in there anyway? (If the answer is 2-3 hrs for hair and makeup this might not be your place) We only stayed one night, but could have easily stayed much longer if that pesky showing up for work thing hadn't been an issue. However, the lady who stated she was the assistant manager felt it necessary to voice her disdain for people from California, me being from California, I was extremely offended. I felt unwelcome. I'm sure that there are visitors from California that stay at her hotel from the Senior Olympics and various tourist events in town. Left Zion late. Almost stayed in Hurricane, but it was too crowded and expensive. Drove the extra 25 minutes to St. George. Dixie Palms is family-owned. They obviously take great pride in keeping a clean, well maintained motel. The lady in the office was an absolute sweetheart. Best sign in town. Clean, comfortable and only $40 for two double beds. (We called ahead, which might make a difference in price.) As a reviewer mentioned, there's no pool, but if you've A) been driving for 12 hours or B) hiked the breathtaking trails here, then you won't need a pool to wear you out. Filthy. Smelly. I'm sorry, but not worth the trouble. The windowsills were full of dirt and very obviously haven't been cleaned in years. The dresser had filth dripped down the front of it. The rooms are dark and depressing, but you can't beat the price if all you need is a place to sleep.

It's no great shakes, but it's very clean and the management is super friendly. You will be hard pressed to find a better deal for the money (hence four stars instead of three), as it came to forty bucks INCLUDING tax. It's perfectly adequate for a stopover in St. George, and I would stay again. The room was a little retro layout, as you might expect for an older motel. But it was clean and in very good repair. They had free coffee with a maker in the room (most charge extra for this now), a nice large TV, a nice newer small refrigerator, and a nice newer microwave. Nice furnishings and a comfortable bed. I've stayed here twice now and recommend it highly. The room comes with a fridge, microwave, TV, coffee pot, and free wifi, amenities one frequently doesn't get at all or has to pay extra for at the so-called "better" places. The rooms I've stayed in are nicely appointed with decent furniture, a desk and a nice table with two comfortable chairs. The bathroom is very small, ie, narrow, and could be a challenge for a very heavy person. The bathroom is the only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars. The motel is within easy walking distances of some good eating places and some historical sites. It's very clean and the staff is very helpful. I love staying in the small independent hotels/motels because the service one gets is so often so much better than at the chains. I like being able to park right in front of my room. This is the third time I've stayed at Dixie Palm. The first time I was very happy with the room, thought I'd found a hidden gem. The second time was ok, but not like the first room. When I checked in at 10:00 p.m. the lady up front was visibly irritated that I was that late. So when I made the reservation to stay this week, I talked with her about checking in when I arrived in town. Didn't require access to the room, just check in so I wouldn't be so late. Reluctant agreement. So when I got there she was again visibly irritated that I was there to check in at 11:30 in the morning. Said she wished she hadn't said I could do that. Grumpy, irritated vibes, two lectures in a row. This time the room was bad. Bumpy floor, iffy carpet, badly cracked ceiling, yukky bathroom and disgusting shower. The hospitality and service I have received here at this location was superb. It was exactly what I needed for my short visit at St. George Utah. Best rates and the rooms are clean with very nice furniture and king size beds with large refrigerator and a large tv and several chairs if you have visitors. Don't stay here, go to some place else. It's not worth the low price for the such headache, waist of time to try to solve a problem and it's not worth your frustration. Dixie Motel is Horrible.The old lady that claim to be general manager, was so rude and greedy , so afraid to lose money with a room of half leg by the side of the road. I booked a non smoking room, when I opened the door, it was stinking smoking. I complained to that greedy lady that it was smelling and the pillow cases had hair in there, floors and carpets all dirty seems like wasn't clean for over 4 months. I asked to have another room because the cigarette smell was making me sick. The greedy old lady refused reimburse me and didn't had another room and wouldn't give my money back. Obviously she's so greedy that she needs so much of any penny, that it will miss to her. Horrible customer service.
