Cappuccino and a cherry biscotto
Adriana M.

I've been patiently waiting for this place to open and it does not disappoint!!! The decor is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and the perfect addition to Little Italy . The owners, Rosario and Victoria, and absolutely wonderful -- warm and friendly, and the food is fabulous. I love that their pastries are made with butter or olive oil - NO SEED OILS!! - and the cappuccino I had there was generous and tasted great. I'll be back again when I can try some of the more substantial menu items. It's great that they are open until 8pm, and later on the weekends. This might be my new favorite hangout in the neighborhood!!!

Stopped in for a quick caffeine boost! This cafe is very cute and cozy with great coffee! I ordered the lavender bee and wish I could go back for another. Very balanced and just what I needed. I did not have any of the food options but they all looked divine, especially the lemoncello croissants. They also do live music which is really cool

"I met a (guy in North) LA In (the bright of night) as sweet as May (He) sang in eights in two Barrio chords We fell in love... But not (in shorts)" ...And made our way to San Diego to Divo Diva Enjoying coffees, ambiance and all the "intrigua!" Americano!!! Is what I order at this Blue & Gold nook of paradise with great outdoor seating, bar seating and main room tables. The decor is gorgeous a blend of European delights, trinkets, treasures and sites. It feels warm, open and intimate all at once. The staff hear is kind, friendly and very attentive. They have so many delicious fresh pastries, desserts and meals they offer hear, not to mention a small assortment of gelato. Very vegan and vegetarian friendly from acai bowls, to insalatas (salads) and more. Great hot and iced teas or coffees, a plethora of alternative milks, including oat, coconut, almond or soy. They even serve wine and beer here, which obsessed with. Good add on choices like avocado. Not to mention pizzas, sandwiches, toasts, breakfast items and unique offering like their charcuterie board (sign me up for the nuts, fruit, olives and marinated goods). Enjoy the stellar Wi-Fi, perfect lighting (day or night), beverage station for those coffee or tea additives + accessories like sugar, stirrers, napkins, etc. Weekday specials. Performances from the Divo and Diva such as their Opera Dinners, holiday and birthday celebrations - check their website as well as IG for upcoming things. Monday, Friday and Saturday D D is open from 8am to 6pm, with great finds for morning afternoon and early evening. Tuesday through Thursday you can enjoy the charm of Divo D from 8am until 4pm. Parking in the area is there, more so in the early half of the day. There's construction at the moment that does limit a few spots, but also the traffic. We parked off a side street about a block away and strolled over taking in the glisten of Hillcrest. Highly recommend this iconic Euro-Esque in SoCal gem in sunny San Diego.

This place popped up on my Instagram reels so decided to give it a shot. There is no free parking here anymore. Since it was a weekday or wasn't very busy until lunch time. I only ordered a latte and it was great. The food menu looked good but maybe next time. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The furniture inside was super cute and chic making it also great spot for a girls brunch.

Peach matcha
Veronica H.

Found this place during a walk around the area. I initially wanted to try two other matchas but they were out of some ingredients. The cashier suggested the peach matcha, it was okay not great but not bad. The flavors for both the matcha and peach could be stronger, it was refreshing though. Service was good and everyone was really attentive. The place was nicely decorated for the holidays. While we waited for our drink I was able to see what other people ordered to dine in and everything that came out looked great.

The owners are welcoming and friendly. The coffee a s pastries are delicious and the decor is beautiful. I'm so glad I stumbled across Divo Diva while in Hillcrest

Avocado Toast Classico Breakfast with fried egg
Suzie D.

This is a cute little European restaurant. It is adorable and the coffee is very high quality. The avocado toast was toasted perfectly with crunch on the outside and soft on the inside with a perfect amount of avocado. The service is also great. It is pay at the front, so no biggie, just maybe better for a small intimate couple or a few friends. Would definitely come back.

This is a review for the music and dinner show that takes place regularly at Divo Diva. I learned about Divo Diva because I frequent a business across the street. One evening, I heard opera music that I had thought was a recording, but then I heard people applauding. I was so surprised to find that it was live! After that, I looked up online and learned about the music and dinner show. I made a reservation to attend with two friends on a Friday night. When making the reservation, we learned that it was a set dinner menu with an appetizer, a drink ,and dinner along with the show. The price was around $100 per person (which included the show and gratuity), so I wasn't expecting anything too fancy. The host answered my request to reserve very quickly. She was very gracious and checked to see if there were any vegetarians or non-drinkers in our group. Anyway, the experience was like no other. The place is small and absolutely adorable. They had a list of coffee drinks that sounded wonderful, and some beautiful pastries behind the counter. The owners are both beautiful singers and sang a variety of operetta and show tunes. It was a two-person show. The customers appeared to be regulars and knew what to expect. The were both kind and outgoing and involved the audience in the show. It appears that they change the musical numbers regularly. It seems like the cafe itself has a lovely culture and they host other events during the week. The show is really a one-of-a-kind experience. If you enjoy opera music or show tunes, I highly recommend it. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is that the food was just OK. It consisted of a cheese and fruit plate, mushroom ravioli with meat sauce, and a glass of Prosecco. We ordered extra glasses of wine and a small dessert to share. As, I said, I didn't expect much for the price, and making the same dish for everyone is the easiest way to go for crowd with such a small staff. I'm not sure how it could be changed, but I may have preferred to eat first and just had drinks or dessert at the show. All in all, it was a very lovely evening.

I discovered this café through Yelp while searching for a spot in the Hillcrest area. It immediately caught my eye because it had all five-star reviews--which is rare! There's usually at least one person who isn't completely satisfied, so I figured it was definitely worth checking out. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the café's unique and charming ambiance. It's clear the owner put a lot of thought and care into the decor--some of the pieces show incredible craftsmanship and attention to detail. I happened to visit on St. Patrick's Day, and there was a parade happening nearby, which added to the festive vibe. I also snapped a bunch of photos by the pink tree outside--such a cute spot! I ordered a fancy drink and a pastry, and both were delicious. The owner even came over to chat with us. She was incredibly warm and down-to-earth--she totally gave me "girl next door" vibes. I'll definitely be back. Conclusion: The five stars are absolutely well-deserved. Ciao!

Went for the Halloween Phantom of the Opera dinner event. I love opera and was absolutely blown away with how lovely Victoria & Rosario were. It was absolutely so beautiful and wonderful made me tear up. The show was great and was lovely to enjoy wine, some really nice lasagna, and a leisurely charcuterie. A heart fulfilling and joyful evening! Thank you both for the light and beautiful sounds you bring to this world! Oh gosh almost forgot to mention the beautiful and cool masquerade decor! The cherry on top!

Cakes!

Everything Italiano. Coffee? Yes. Pastries? Yes. Cake? Yes. Pizza? Yea. Ice cream? Wine? Beer? Yes yes yes. No matter what time of the day or what mood you're in, you'd be able to find at least one thing that might strike your fancy. They even have live music on occasion. I love pistachio things and I tried their pistachio croissant. It was good! But kinda on the expensive side at $7. The staff are friendly and welcoming, you'd enjoy your time there inside or outside (great for people watching)

Inside seating

A welcoming and cozy cafe in Hillcrest with breakfast food and pastries, paninis, and salads. The hostess was very friendly and offered some suggestions from the menu. They have decent vegetarian options on the menu, but wish there were more vegan options. Ended up getting avocado toast and side salad which were fresh and flavorful. The cafe is clean, bright, and splendidly decorated with regal teal seats. Combined with the gold-colored utensils, the place felt luxurious. Seats were comfortable. They had outlets for my laptop.

Ordered pastries from this place through too good to go and they were nice. Ordered some drinks separately and they were a little disappointing. The matcha drinks were very watered down/ milky.

Food: - Flat iron steak: delicious and super tendy with a nice crust. Came with an arugula salad - Fish of the day: today was rock fish with a creamy panang/thai sauce and it was DELICIOUS - Duck: my table's favorite dish. You can make your own tiny tacos and the macha chili was seriously the best thing ever - French fries: nice horsestring fries, cant go wrong - Tuna crudo: super light and citrusy and flavorful, but only like 5-6 pieces - Chicken skewers: this honestly fell really flat. Would not recommend, i'd say it's the worst thing on the menu and surprisingly fell short. Doesnt feel like it belongs on the menu. - Brussel Sprouts: really good and unique with a peanut butter sauce - Mac and cheese: yummy but nothing special Overall was a great experience but I'd probably only come here on special occasions. Their drinks were also fantastic - the cantaloupe was super tasty. Shoutout Ola for being the best waiter!

The happy hour stand outs for me were the: - lamb meatballs $12 - this was the unanimous favorite amongst us, the flavors and juiciness of the meat was great ($4 per ball) - pork belly bao buns 3 for $16 - succulent and tender meat that basically melts in your mouth bc the fat in the best way, and the buns were super soft as well I enjoyed the flavor "crispy" brussel sprouts $10 but the texture was no where near crispy, they were cooked thoroughly but kinda mushy. The steak $25 was ordered as medium rare and was a bit too rare for our liking. But the fries were nice and crispy. The worst thing about the meal was the mac and cheese $8. We all tried it and agreed that it had issues with it being bland and having no depth of flavor, and the cornflake crumble tasted like old oil and stale cereal. Everyone's least favorite item of the night. ---- Notes: - we sat inside and there's not much air flow, it got pretty stuffy and hot during our meal - service was very attentive and charismatic, Dalton did a great job helping with allergy concerns - They were kind enough to split the bill in 3 but unfortunately charged me for an extra beer and I didn't notice it until after we had left - parking was okay, able to find paid street parking around the area ---- Overall: I reallyyyy wanted to like this place more, and I will probably give it another chance in the future bc I see such great potential. The food was just inconsistent btwn dishes with some being amazing and others subpar. If you want to try this place out definitely go on a Wednesday for their all-day happy hour bc their food at their regular prices wouldn't be worth it in my opinion.

We said we would wait for water but it never came around and they never checked up on it. I ordered the sampler that came with chilaquiles, beans, huevos rancheros, and corn tamal. When I ordered it, the server asked "and what would you like for your meat?" Her wording made it sound as if there was a protein that came with the chilaquiles. I was caught off guard at the end of the meal when I saw that there was a hefty (for the small portion) additional charge for the tough and flavorless carne asada. Maybe it wasn't intentional, but I think it would be better phrased as, "would you like to add protein?" for it to be less ambiguous. Nobody likes to be surprised with a higher bill than expected. I did not think the chilaquiles lived up its claim to be the best. It was pretty good, but the carne asada actually hindered it rather than helped it. Definitely get something else if you want to add protein to your dish. I was unhappy with the level of service, and the price didn't match the quality of the food. There are so many better spots in SD for Mexican food.
