After repeatedly telling destiny whom I have gone to for a long time not to slide the scissors down the sides of my hair because it causes my hair to frizz and looks like I have split ends which wont lay down and she stopped for awhile but did it again today and it looks horrible. I have to use a ton.of product to try and get the hair to lay down but it wont because it was razor sliced and my hair is too thin for that. Im so upset and had to pay 55 dollars for this and thats without blow dry. I will never go here again Pretty sad that the customer knows more about hair then the so called stylist. Im very angry because I have asked her numerous times to not do this but she chose to ignore me again and did it anyways and it is horrible. First off, purchased a Groupon and I have very short hair. So I sit in the chair and the girl and mgr tells me that the Groupon is only for two stylists with very little experience. Then Groupon wouldn't refund my money. They now make you use the money as a credit! So $67.99 will sit in my Groupon account for a long time. That's money I wouldn't afford to lose. That, plus every single item in this salon is like a restaurant. Everything is ala carte and costs extra. Ana was nice but I've never paid $205.00, considering I didn't get a haircut or trim even. All she did was shave my neck and barely swiped my bangs with her scissors. $25.00 for that, $$$ for 7 foils for which I already had highlights when I walked in. Didn't need them refreshed and root color. Wayyyyy over priced for salon in Mesa. I would expect this price in Scottsdale. Too high priced for what you get. What she should have done was just wrap in foil some of the existing highlights and then do a root color. Instead, she covered all the highlights and started fresh with her own highlights with 7 foils. I told her that I did not want a partial highlights. Totally disappoint. Mine was a challenging job. I have long curly hair that is transitioning to gray. My stylist Flor did a fantastic job of getting rid of the growth line between gray and my old reddish brown color that was still left. My hair is fully a beautiful shade of gray now. Before that I had never had a perm as I have naturally wavy hair, but as I got older it was getting a bit wild. Julie consulted with me and the perm did the job. I got THE WORST haircut of my life, and I am 57 years old. I picked this salon because it was close to my house, and I have some nerve damage. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted, but discussed a cut with Jeannette. She was nice enough. She did not show me the back of my hair before I left, but I could tell it looked a little too short. I went home, looked at the back of my hair in the mirror and frickin lost it. The left side was all one length about one inch below my ear, then it went straight up into a V beginning at the back of my head coming straight back down. Then, only on the right side were short layers starting about 3 inches from the top of my head. I had weird bangs and a long strand of hair on the front right side. I wasn't sure if this was some new hairstyle, but it looked f**Ed up to me, as I am 57 and boring. I went back a few days later and asked for my money back, which I did get. I got my hair "fixed", but it is still a little funky. I will never go back to this place. read more

Drove all the way to AZ after making an appointment weeks ahead. I also left a message for the hairdresser with a question. The receptionist would not let me ask her so I left a message. When I got there I called to see if it was at 11 or 11:30 and it wasn't on at all. She had my message but never booked my appt that she said MUST BE DONE THROUGH HER. No solutions. She gave my appt away and didn't correct her error I had it first not the other person. So I will never ever use them again no matter how much I liked my girl. That is just plain HORRIBLE TERRILE UNACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. It is a 7 hour drive each way for me and that was me keeping my word that I would have her do my hair instead of the girl in CA. What a mistake I made 14 hours and 4 tanks of gas. It's fine if you are all white and right I guess. I am still pissed and it has been a month so I will putting several reviews up on your business and I will continue to do it. No sorry no call just a big FU right back at you. read more

I give a 3 star because I really like the service I received there but I was unhappy with the fact that they called me to confirm my appointment 45 hours before my appointment and then told me that I needed a 50$ deposit to reschedule because it wasn't 48hours in advance. Be careful with their new employees or new grads. I requested touch up color for my grays and was assigned new employee/grad. She was sweet and very friendly but got home and notice several areas that were not covered. Not a big problem now but in 2 weeks very noticeable. I called in the am needing an appointment for the same day my usual girl was not working but was told I could have an afternoon slot. I have been coming to divine for quite a while now so figured great ! A young girl washed and started cutting my hair, now I brought pictures of my hair cut from my usual girl so as she would see what I want , the young girl kept cutting, I again showed pics and she continued , after a bit another girl saw my hair and started showing the first how to cut. The second girl took over and did what she could at this point . Previously I never knew this to be a salon that was teaching new hair stylist, (this is 70$+ or more haircuts ) Not great clips .l I was not charged for my cut , thanks for that. I started going to Divine Hair Salon during the "plandemic" when many hair cutting places like Cost Cutters and Fantastic Sams implemented the "mask wearing" requirement policy. Divine gave customers the option which made me a permanent customer. While I pay a bit more for a mans haircut than other low cost places, I love the atmosphere and the personnel who work there that makes the modest extra cost worthwhile. I recommend this place and especially "Ana" who does my hair and my wifes. read more

Update: the salon called to check on us since they knew we were unhappy when we left. They offered an apology and let us know what steps will be taken in the future to prevent this from happening. They also refunded my credit card. I am pleased with how they handled the situation. I don't usually write reviews but i think that it's important to share our experience here since we picked this salon based off of its reviews. I took my daughter in for a haircut yesterday. She has very long, thick hair. I asked for 4 inches to be cut off the length then to add layers and thinning to help make it more manageable. I told the stylist that I was not happy with the cut and she offered to blend it in. I asked her to stop touching her hair. She walked me up to the receptionist and said that she would only charge $45 since she didn't get a chance to style it. I told the receptionist that I was not happy and asked her to look at my daughter's hair. She did not try to gaslight me and she completely agreed that it was not acceptable. She asked Ana to come and talk to us. Ana introduced herself and offered to try to fix it up. She spent over an hour on her hair blending and thinning. When we left, her hair looked much better than the original cut. She has a mullet. Thank goodness she likes to wear a hat, but even with her hat on, it looks terrible. Tons of pieces are sticking out everywhere. The people were very kind, but I am so upset that they did this to her hair. read more

I wanted to get my hair dyed a deep emerald green and walked out with bright shocking blue. The stylist also double booked herself so i felt my 200$+ appointment wasnt given the time or attention it needed. Its taken months to correct the color. On top of everything no one in this salon knows how to deal with curly hair. They want to cut it like its straight and then try to round brush it out. I walked out of here sobbing and was so embaressed to go out of the house. I became antisocial at work and people were constantly asking me what the heck had happened to my hair. My hair still looks awful thanks to the butcher McKenzie. The owner did NOT handle the situation well when I went into the "salon" (aka, ghetto strip mall location, do not be fooled by the pictures). She just kept telling me she couldn't make my hair grow back...obviously. Please save yourself and learn from my mistake. This place should be ashamed to call themselves a business. I found a Groupon deal for a cut, style and partial highlights. After printing out my voucher I called to make an apt. And was put on hold for 8 min. I thought "oh no were off to a bad start". I hung up and redialed. The gal answered and made my apt for 6pm same day (Thursday). Upon arrival I was handed a clip board to fill out customer info and then taken back. This was an apt for my daughter. We had the pleasure of receiving care from Anna. She is wonderful. Made my daughter feel comfortable. My daughter got layers back and sides and a swept bang plus an all over color to cover a boxed dye that didn't work so well. The color is a moroonish Brown. Very pretty. Anna did a fab job. What also impressed me is that Anna didn't scold, put down or make fun of her for using a boxed color. Anna nicely talked to us both about what our options are. I also noticed the owner taking with a girl who was nearly in tears bc of the color job on her hair (she came in to have it fixed) the owner talked with her, going into great detail of her options and explain why. She was professional and polite the whole time. Upon check out they did not try to be sell me products which I appreciate. My groupon covered the whole cost. I expected to pay extra and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't. I tipped generously. I was given a thank you card with three coupons. Nice touch. I said I will just go somewhere else and the receptionist said ok, there are a lot of people trying to get in. You ruined me. I was a loyal customer for years. But a stylist decided "dead ends" meant ~5 1/2 inches" of hair. I left your salon in full blown tears and still had to pay full price. I had to take a mental health day from work the next day because I NEVER in my wildest dreams wanted short hair. I haven't had short hair since the 5th grade, it's hideous on me. It is months later now and I am still having self confidence issues. Not only with cut...which now looks like a mullet (no thanks), but with color...which when I had another stylist redo...turned 5th element orange (with a simple 1/2 foil bleaching). It took another 2 bleach/foil treatments to get my hair yellow again. Can you imagine the trauma you have caused me? I will never recommend your salon again and you can never make up for the damage you have caused. I want to puke every time I look at myself in the mirror and I blame it all on your lack of consistency and quality control and training. I am still beyond pissed and it took me months to find the right words to express it because I am speechless as to how any reputable hair salon could allow such behavior to any customer. I'm sure it was a memorable day for some present...it was for me...I'm surprised anyone paid when a customer left totally speechless in tears...let alone that any unfortunate soul in the future should have to pay in the future. Side note...the decor used to be upscale and classy, but as time progressed decor became tacky and at the time of my last and final appointment beverages and snacks matched the cheap decor. Poorly managed. Tsk tsk. Misleading primary photos as advertisement showing on Yelp. It's been about a year now (I can't keep my anniversary straight but I can remember a hair disaster...that's how much this incident impacted my life). I got yelp message from the owner...but there was no attempt to apologize or refund my money or rectify the situation in ANY way...which I found perturbing. Also, if you can't tell...I'm STILL incredibly sour about what happened. It's harder to regrow hair to the length I had it than you'd think and I look in the mirror everyday to see the disgusting slightly longer but still way too SHORT unasked for mess that this establishment has left me with. One star because the toner turned out ok although overpriced at $30 . I requested the simplest cut in the world. A trim with the last layer as straight as possible and super clean and some blended layers at the bottom. The stylist took this as an opportunity to be super lazy. She spent 2 minutes on the cut. Did not check it even when I emphasized and asked her if the bottom layer was as clean as possible. I I am super easy going when it comes to haircuts and never ask for anything too complicated but the simple things I want done, I want done well. Go elsewhere. read more
