3/12/22 Today is a snowy Saturday on March 12th. When I planned the appointment no snow was expected for this day. How things change. Today my nail technician is named Helen. She reminds me of one of the ladies I saw in the employee's break room the day I made an appointment for today's date. I am guessing Helen will be my nail technician for both nails and waxing. I will find out of this is true. Originally I schedule my appointment with Jennifer, but I guess something came up, or I am just lucky. As it turns out, Jennifer was getting her tooth pulled and it is why she wasn't there in the beginning. Helen is removing my cuticles with an electric power drill. I prefer this method to the cutting of cuticles. I did notice my left pinky toes was missed for the drilling. I will bring this up if she does file the pinky toes down. Helen ended up fixing my feet just right. Maybe it was just me thinking she was nervous. After talking to her, I got the feeling she just doesn't talk much unless she has something to say. I am cool with that, because I am like that too. I was correct, Helen is skilled in the arts of Manicures, pedicures, eyebrows and waxing. She ended up doing my waxing once we were finished with my mani/pedi. The waxing went like clock work. Striping down to nearly nude, I had the pleasure of laying down on a brown plastic cover. This cover can be easily cleaned for multiple uses. This was one of three tables placed in the treatment room. There is a divider inside the room in case there are more then one client. Helen started on legs and I had a blanket covering me until it was time to move up the legs. Helen rubbed baby powder on my legs where the wax is going to be applied. For those who fo not know, the powder helps the esthetician (Helen) see the hairs that will eventually be pulled. The pain one may feel is different for each person. For me it was pretty much non existent. However, there is a trick. It may work for you or it may not. Nevertheless, if you think about the most painful experience you ever had and hold on to this feeling, as the wax/hair is being pulled from your sensitive areas of your body, you should not feel the pain...or it is a slim to none feeling. Hair removal from my backside was the most joyous experience. I truly dislike having hair back there despite the reason for it. It is an area of the body that I do not recommend shaving one's self. It can get very itchy when the hair grows back. The itchy dance is not to be admired...believe Theodore Long when he and I say..."Believe That." I could have had the full Brazilian, but I prefer to get little Johhny myself. Everything else around the island was taken care of in a respectful way by Helen. I am please to say I have found my new go to spa. I am happy to say that Helen is available any day, but you have to do it by appointment only. I highly recommend giving Diva Nails a try. Especially for guys that have been continously turn away from male epilation. read more

Nail tech Vivian is great, was going to her for over a year even before the salon moved into the owners basement. However, the owner is unprofessional and not concerned about her clients at all. I was in for service on Feb 2 and a product was put into the brush sanitation bowl at the sink that stained my brand new $140 camel colored Nike sweat outfit with this brown/orange liquid. I had literally ordered the outfit on Jan 25 and wore it for the first time that day. While the owner dry cleaned the clothing, the staines didn't come out and her response was "I did the best I could." I told her I appreciate that, but it doesn't resolve my problem of being out $140 with a brand new ruined outfit. I told her I was considering filing a formal complaint with the health department, as that product should have never been put out for consumer to use, and her response was the health deparement told her to use it and she's blocked my number so I can't reach her. I've been getting my nails done for over 15 years, been to dozen of salons around the US and have never seen a product like that used in those brush sanitzation bowls. Genearlly the color of that bowl is a clear blue/green color (like you see at hair salons with the combs in it). This time it was a dark oily color and it stained my hands and clothes a brown/oragne color - like surgical sterilizastion they use when prepping an area on your body for surgery. My hands were literally stained brown/orange and when it wasn't coming off my skins is when I notified Vivian something wasn't right. They immediately removed the sanitation container and blamed the health department advisor that was recently in. I also looked up VA law around sanitation requirements and reviewed the list of EPA approved sanitation products and don't see anything like what she used on the approved list for consumer use. I've filed a disupte with my bank to get a refund for the $120 I paid that day for services since the owner never offered that as an option and has now blocked me from asking for any type of compenstaion. I will never go back and feel bad it impacts Vivians clientele. read more

I hate to say it but this was one of the worst - if not the worst - paid manicures I've ever received. The job was sloppy, I felt rushed, no hand massage and the process of taking off my gel manicure was pretty rough. As a side note - when I walked in, they told me to sit in one chair but when the lady learned I wanted regular manicure and not gel, she asked me to go to her colleague at another desk. Not a big deal but at 7 months pregnant and in 95F heat, I don't necessarily feel like jumping around. Nobody offered any water either. Anyway, all other things aside, the main complaint is the manicure that just looked bad...not professional, I could have done a better job at home. Susan was my nail technician. This was my first visit, and I am very particular about my nails. The pricing is very competitive ( less than others in the area). But not at the expense of the service. I was very pleased with the overall service at this salon which adds a mini massage of the shoulders as a nice touch at the end of the service. Firstly, I was extremely impressed with the size, elegance, and cleanliness of the Salon. When I walked in I saw two big screen TVs displaying the services provided. Relaxing music was emanating from the ceiling. Trinh approached me with a pleasant smile and with perfect diction asked, can I help you. I chose the microdermabrasion/facial and it was quite an experience. I now have a monthly appointment for the microdermabrasion/facial spa treatment. Trinh is a perfectionist and a true professional. I went here a few weeks ago and was terribly disappointed. The lady who did my nails kept poking her finger into my cuticles. Her coworkers claimed she did not understand English. I don't believe this was entirely true. I entered excited because I hadn't had a manicure since 2019 (I think) I wanted nail art but she looked at me and pretended to not understand What that was. She kept poking her nail into my cuticle and made the action seem normal when it know it is not. I wasn't given the proper care one is supposed to recieve. I started going to Diva Nails when I moved to Falls Church, as it is right across from my apartment complex. I first went there out of convenience since it was only a small walk from my door. However, I continue to go there for the excellent service, great conversation, and reasonable pricing. I see Vivianne and I get SNS powder on my nails for a manicure and usually, and ice dancer pedicure. Both are always phenomenal looking and feel incredible. Black women do not go to this shop. My daughter and I were there on January 9, 2021. We had an appointment to get a pedicure and gel fill. Let's start out we were there for over two half hours. I have Lupus so my daughter was trying to keep me calm. We both wanted to walk out but we knew better. My daughter's nail were the worst. We paid after almost three hours. When I got home I spoke with the manager. I explained to her what happened. She apologized over and over. She let me know the lady that did our fill was not license to do fill in. She was only able to do pedicures. She promised to refund use for our fill in. Today she send me a text that they decided to only refund 25.00. Her na.e is Jennifer Tran. I highly recommend Diva Nails!! I moved here a couple years ago and tried many salons before finding this one, and now I won't go anywhere else. I've only ever had great experiences. I love that it's a calm environment and everyone is welcoming, accommodating and kind. Every manicure I have had has been very good but I have gotten manicures with Tina multiple times and definitely recommend going to see her. She's always very careful and detail oriented, she makes sure that my nails are absolutely perfect when I leave and they last me a long time. I don't live very close to this salon but I go out of my way to go because I know I'll be getting great service. Several of my friends have since gone here for their nails and they love it too. I have been coming here for a year now and Stephen is the most amazing nail technician I have ever had. He is so sweet and polite. I have never had a problem with my nails. I had the Dip nail and he does some of the most amazing designs and they last me over a month even though I get mine supper thin to resemble real nails. I don't know what these haters have against this place but honestly Stephen is the man when it comes to looking 100 and I don't let anyone else work on my nails other than him because he listens to what I want and cleans my nails and shapes them to my liking. I've been to Diva Nails twice now. The first time, I got a powder manicure, which was fine and lasted a long time. The second time, I got a gel manicure and had a terrible experience. First off, it took about 2 hours which was much longer than I expected. Secondly, the polish color I selected on the sample, did not look anything like the final color that was actually applied. I requested a bright red, and instead got a sparkly, dull, dark maroon. The manicurist did show me one coat of the color at first, which seemed ok, but with all the additional coats applied, the color was way off. It seems like the polish itself was also old, because she had to keep trying to smooth it out and several times took off a couple of coats and started over. In the end, the results were bumpy, uneven, and unattractive. After 2 hours, I couldn't spare any more time to try to get it fixed, so unfortunately had to leave unsatisfied. Extremely nice staff, Chris at the front desk is very hardworking and professional. They did a wonderful job. Music is so relaxing and soothing. However There was a gentleman who was strangely fixed on one of the chairs, unclear whether a guest or a wandering pedestrian looking for a free massage (chairs have a nice massage feature), and he was continuously making hawking noises almost horrifyingly in sync with the background music.. Not sure if he is an owner or part of management, but his background noises were quite distracting and unpleasant. I hope they don't have trouble refusing such people into the establishment, otherwise it's a wonderful place! read more

I suspect this company is engaging in wage theft. This afternoon (6/13/20), I got my eyebrows waxed. I was told the price is $12, as listed in the menu. The person performing the waxing did a great job, and I proceeded to tip her $2, making my total $14. When I asked why my card had only been charged $12, Jennifer told me they handle all the tips. I requested I be charged the extra $2 on my credit card, or that I pay the worker the $2 extra in cash. Jennifer refused either option. In the past, I've always been able to get cash back for tips and deliver the tip in person, to the service-provider - while I respect that Diva's policy may be different, I am curious as to why they didn't charge me $14. Update: I checked my bank statement, where the charge is now finalized (not in "pending") status. I appreciated Mike's desire to stand up for his friends - I would feel the same way about mine. However, truth is truth and I was only charged $12 so either the $2 tip is coming from Jennifer or the worker does not receive the tip I requested to be passed onto her. This is not an issue of accounting, as the final charge is still $2 short. read more

I have a place I go to loyally, but they were closed because of the snow, and I wanted to get a pedicure before leaving for the beach. My coworker had an appointment there, and it's within walking distance of my home, so I figured why not? Man, was that a mistake. I wanted the full treatment, so I paid $55 (more than I pay at my usual spot) for a spa pedicure. Nothing went wrong with the pedicure experience. It was fine, though not as relaxing as my usual. The thing that has me really mad is that just days after I got this too expensive pedicure, it chipped! Today I am exactly two weeks out, and my feet look absolutely terrible. All of my toes are chipped. The nail technician told me next time I should add a luxury soak or something, even MORE money than I was already paying. I was not disappointed, staff was friendly was immediately assisted and offered comfort measures. Place is clean, organized and friendly. Crystal was very tentative to my very picky needs. They had awesome combo prices for hand and feet needs, they also offer other services. Gel polish collection is very extensive they also do the powder polish. Came in for an eyebrow wax and manicure. Greeted somewhat shortly but whatever, I appreciate the service being straight to the point. Manicure was first, very basic and went fine. She shaped my nails very well. The polish was a little clumpy and she was struggling with it. We moved to wax my brows while my nails were still wet. The technician carried my things but I still had to get myself on and off the table with wet nails... However, my eyebrows looked fantastic. I then moved to the dryer for my nails with no instructions or guidance on how long to stay. I left after about 15 minutes and smudged my nails about an hour later when letting the dog out. Possibly my own fault but I don't have a lot of experience with manicures and was counting on them to tell me when I was finished. After an extended hospital stay, I hobbled in, and Suong took wonderful care of my pathetic feet and legs. She trimmed my toenails without nipping the shin -- not causing a bleed which would be dangerous for me. She did a leg massage that really helped me recover, I believe. Most important of all, she was extraordinarily kind, helping me to my car. It was such a good experience, I went back to Diva today. Suong was busy, so my toenail trim and leg massage were done by a tall, thin man whose name I did not get. Equally good, equally kind. Both are not only fine technically, they are lovely people. My sister and I found this place because it is close to where we live. Unfortunately our kids had to come with due to the schools closing for the weather however the staff was very understanding and helpful. I got a spa pedicure which was very relaxing and the polish (not gel) has lasted almost 3 weeks without chipping. I went to get my lash extension done. They looked beautiful but one of my eyes the eyelash extension came out. but they were really nice about redoing them. She re do them, but again the one eyelash extensions came out. One eye extensions stayed in the eye extensions other came out. Nice place but maybe I need to go somewhere else to lashes done. read more

I need to comment on the review from Tina. I was the customer sitting in the chair next to the register that she interrupted twice. First of all Jennifer is the owner, not the (cashier). I've known Jennifer for 10 years and my wife has known her for over 20 years. She is a woman of the highest character and any accusation of "theft" is ridiculous and unfounded. You are mistaken when you say that she "refused either option." She offered to close out the handwritten tip on your credit card slip right then and there. You are the one that refused. I've seen "cash-back" on debit cards, but not credit cards. It's standard practice to close out credit card tips at the end of each day and all those professional and very personable technicians in this shop know and understand that. Next time you think someone did a "great job" and you want to tip them $2, for your peace of mind you should bring your own cash. read more

My first experience with Diva nails was not bad at all, although it is overpriced. $45 for a regular full set... (that's the service I received on Saturday) That's ridiculous! Anyway, I do not remember the nail tech I had but, it was the only male nail tech there. First off, I asked for coffin nails and received big square blocks for nails. Secondly, the technician "warned" me that because of the length of my nails, they would not last more than a few days to a week and will break. I've had the same length nails for years and I never have this problem. (If he feels like his acrylic full sets should only last a few days, he's probably not that talented) Anyhow, one of my nails broke within one hour of completion by simply opening my car door. I called immediately but, they were closed. On Monday, I called the salon and spoke with the manager, she was very helpful and her customer service was outstanding. She told me to come to the salon later that day to receive a full refund for my nails. When I arrived at the salon a few hours later, the manager had apparently left for the day so unfortunately I was greeted by the man who did my nails a few days prior. His customer service was terrible! He had a bad attitude and was super rude, as he walked up to me at the front door, his first word to me were, "The manager is not here. what's your problem was with your nails?". I showed him my broken nail and tried to explain the details to him but, I could not get a word in because the nail tech kept shooing me away with his hand, walking away from me, and telling me "I told you so". I planned on returning to the salon at some point and trying a different tech because I liked the salon itself but his terrible customer service left a bad taste in my mouth and I will not be returning anymore. read more

I got a pedicure and the service and quality are good so far! Pleased with how it looks. The reasons I couldn't give it a 5 are 1. It was a bit pricy and 2. There were several times during the treatment that she tried to get me to do other services (first was mani, then a more expensive pedi, then eyebrow waxing) which seemed a bit over the top. read more
