Came here on a Saturday around 12:30PM and it was PACKED. We had to park across the street as the lot was quite limited and had been full at this time. The line of people was out the door, but fortunately it moved pretty quickly. Logistics: You order at the counter, pay, and they give you a card with a number. Once your food is ready they call out the numbers and deliver orders to the tables accordingly. The tables are communal-style with first come-first serve seating. Next to the fountain drinks there is a salsa bar! They offer pico de gallo, limes, cilantro, salsa verde, spicy salsa, mild salsa, and additional taco/burrito-making accoutrements. I ordered the nachos, "Mexican-style", with the al pastor (pork with pineapple) as my choice of protein, and guacamole (+$1.50). My bf ordered three soft tacos- al pastor, carne asada, and chicken. My nachos meal was HUGE. It was packed with deliciously marinated pork, chunks of pineapple, pico de gallo, bits of cheese, and a generous amount of guacamole. The chips were crispy despite the mountain of toppings on it. I loved that it wasn't just a bunch of chips with minimal toppings. It ended up being way too much and my bf had to help me out. He also enjoyed his tacos, I sampled his carne asada-- it was perfectly cooked and tender, but could probably have used a bit more seasoning. Overall I had a good experience. I don't know why people like District Taco. I used to like it when it first opened but I think the quality has really gone downhill. We are there tonight, dining in. The meat in the tacos was over cooked, dry, and cold ( carnitas and carne asada). The chicken burrito barely had any chicken in it and was rolled in a way that you either ate beans or rice but not both. Their corn tortillas, queso, and guacamole are good. But there are better taco places in the DC area. read more

Everything taken care of online (including the all-important tip!), a detailed order that was executed precisely, and a very friendly staff person who put the order in the back of my car, touch free! Fast and friendly service, but doesn't compromise on food quality. I still miss Southern California and Mexican food, but this is the best thing going in the DC area. Always go out of their way to accommodate any special requests we've had, and/or correct any mistakes (but those are few, and far between)... glad they keep adding locations too, but Langston is our primary shop. read more

DT continues to improve following the impact of the pandemic and their having to adjust their menu to meet reduced demand. Ordering on the app is easy and recommended. We ordered breakfast food items this morning and everything was outstanding. It is nice to have breakfast selections that include bacon. The only drawback continues to be their use of French fries in tacos and burritos. The French fries are soggy and mushy. It would be better if they went back to utilizing breakfast potatoes for breakfast items. Aside from that, breakfast was enjoyable. read more

3 1/2* District Taco reminds of a Chipotle + Qdoba combo. My husband and I went on a Sunday afternoon and it was beyond hectic/crowded. What to do after ordering was a little confusing for us newbies. Anyway, we eventually found 2 empty seats and our food made its way to us. Vegetarian Burrito - The rice and beans at Chipotle are MUCH better. The other fillings in this burrito (grilled veggies, guac, cheese, etc. are fine). Nachos - omg delicious. I recently went to the District Taco on Lee Hwy while on the way to the airport to pick up my family. I had missed lunch, and showed up at about 2:30 very hungry. I ordered two carne asada tacos on corn tortillas. When they came, the tortillas were falling apart so badly that I had to grab a fork and eat the stuff like a salad or something. They were literally disintegrating. Also, the meat was a light brown/grayish color, the color meat takes when it is not high quality to begin with, and then sits stewing in its juices for way too long. The sad thing is that this is not the first time for this, especially for the tortillas. Like I said, I was on a mission to the airport, and did not have time to mention this to the manager on duty. Disappointing taco experience here. They were out of beef, no lime or lemon. 2 tacos were not very filling. I also miss having the salsa bar where you can add toppings on your own vs having to tell them each and every topping. We finally were in the Arlington area and I've been meaning to try this place for awhile! The menu confused me a bit in regards to the tacos, I wasn't sure if the prices were the same for 3/9$ if you switched up the meats but actually it is so you can definitely try different meats if you want one of each, I tried the chicken tacos with the flour tortillas Jefe way. They have an awesome salsa bar which I loved the tomatillo and pico. We decided to eat in, and they gave us a table number and brought the food over. Parking was so hard to find but hopefully that can be expanded at some point. Awesome tacos great fresh flavors. District Taco - Arlington now has kiosks that are so complicated that two people standby to assist customers ordering. Food is great, but gone is the condiment bar with three kinds of salsa, jalapeños and onions. You get one small plastic, sealed cup of mild salsa and that gets spread across 3 small tacos. I won't be going back and based upon the number of customers present when I was there, others have voted with their feet as well. No longer recommended. read more

This certainly isn't a cheap taco place, but it isn't insanely expensive either. Everyone in my family has loved District Taco for years.  Unfortunately, we have recently had some bad experiences.   Every time we order from District Taco, we get a large order of chips and queso.  Two orders ago, they sent the chips but not the queso.  Last order, they sent the queso but not the chips.  I called the restaurant, and rather than handling the issue right away, they instructed me to visit their Website to file a complaint. And then there's tonight. . .  My daughter wanted District Taco for her birthday celebration.  Her friends wanted to eat around 8:15, so we ordered around 6 tonight and requested that the food be delivered at 8:00. First, the good news:  All of the food we ordered arrived on time, a few minutes after 8:00.  The bad news?  Everything was cold, as if they made it when we placed our order at 6 and then let it sit for two hours, waiting for the delivery time.  The queso was a congealed mass, and we had to heat that as well as 9 meals we ordered. We have loved District Taco for too long to give up on them yet, but we're getting close.  I hope they tighten things up soon! read more

This is a fairly new location. It is not as nice as some of the other locations, appearance wise, however, I really have to give the service all the stars. I specifically want to call out their employee Wesley. His service is amazing. He made sure we knew exactly what we were ordering, made sure we got everything we needed, and checked on us during our meal to make sure we were happy with our food. Service is always the thing that brings me back to a location. My favorite tacos are the shrimp tacos, they only have them Monday and Thursday, bummer, because I could eat them everyday. Making a left into the lot during prime time can be kinda crazy and parking can be a little hectic. read more

My boyfriend and I placed a to go order yesterday. I had two orders of tacos and almost everything was wrong in the orders. Guac is extremely overpriced and wasn't even included on four of the tacos, and the other two had barely any. The server was rude as well. Also, if you are vegetarian or vegan they cook the Beyond meat on the same grill surface as the meat. I was ill after. It was almost comical all the things that went wrong. District taco is a bit of an anomaly. The food is fresh and really good but the reason for the 4 star review is the quantity you get compared to the price is not that good in my opinion. I feel that for 10-12 dollars I should be getting a lot more than what I do. The chips and guac is soooo good. Highly overrated I feel. I went considering the high marks and felt I was going to be blown away by the experience but I wasn't. The parking is dangerous. It's a small lot that's just asking for somebody to get hit. Cars coming and going in every direction. And the spaces are on a diagonal. Fortunately I was patient and found one right in front of the store. You walk in and the joint is jumping with noise. Good sign. Menu is easy to read and I got the huevos rancheros and two tacos, the carne asada and al pastor. $17 for the thing (also got myself a drink). You're then given a card in Spanish, cute touch. I got to see the food being prepped before me. Also a cute touch. Then it arrived. The tacos are strictly average. The meat is okay and it's served on a flour tortilla. That's not the bad, it's that I felt for $3/taco, I was skimped. I then went with the huevos rancheros. They are hot (spicy hot). They first tasted good, until you see it's just a over hard egg on a corn tortilla. And they lather it with rice and beans. Normally it's supposed to supplement it, but here it ruins it, because I think they use the wrong beans and rice. It looked like a chipotle burrito bowl. Even the free guacamole wasn't enough to save it. The Boylan's soda is super. Don't drink too much of it, since it's pure cane sugar. I don't think I'll return though. The parking scared me, and the food wasn't up to snuff. I'll stick with Taco Bamba. read more

Working in DC, just across from Lafayette Park, I find myself right in the sweet spot for food trucks in the city, being conveniently located equidistant to Franklin Park and Farragut Square, the major stomping grounds for nearly every truck in the city at some point during the week. So, why then would I venture all the way out to Rosslyn (it's not THAT far, but it takes a while to walk/metro/walk again, etc) just to eat from another cart? Well, District Taco is not just another cart, and there sure isn't anything like this being offered in DC right now. My wife, who works in Ballston, and is always jealous of my access to creative mobile cuisine, was ecstatic when she found out there was a cart that ventured around Arlington, which she had easy access to but I was kept at bay. After she raved about their tacos one afternoon, I knew I would have to make a special visit across the Potomac in order to find out what was so special about these guys. Granted, I had been following their Twitter feed for quite some time, waiting for the opportunity to pounce on them if they ever crossed the border into DC. They usually roam around various parts of Arlington, but Rosslyn is by far the closest stop for me, so when I saw them post they would be there today I knew it was time to make the trip, regardless of the freak 95 degree weather that suddenly hit this week. At only $7 for three tacos you're already getting a great lunch deal, but once you actually taste them and realize the quality of the ingredients and the amount of flavor present you appreciate it even more. The specials change every day too, so if you eat here regularly there's always a chance to try something new. I went with 2 of the Cochinita Pibil (slow simmered pork) and 1 of the Pollo Asado (roast chicken). The chicken was very plump and moist, and had a nice flavor, but the pork really blew me away. It was incredibly tender, and bursting with loads of great flavor, with a good bit of vinegar as the feature. They also make 3 salsas to choose from, including a habanero version, which really kicked up the flavors a bit. I didn't realize the topping options were unlimited until after I had ordered (because on the website they only show the menu for breakfast tacos, where extra toppings cost you more), so I only ended up with jalapenos, onions, sour cream and cheese on my tacos. There are a lot of other great options though, including chorizo, bacon, and guacamole, which will definitely be added if, or rather when, I make it back. I'm sure there are lots of arguments going on out there about what "authentic" Mexican is available in the DC metro area, and how it basically doesn't exist, but District Taco is doing everything to bring a little slice of flavor to our very diverse pie. As for the cart owners/operators, they are very friendly and perhaps the most active Twitter users of any of the trucks in the area. They're always on the move to somewhere new, and you can tell they really appreciate their fanbase. They also run their cart like a well-oiled machine, pumping out each order in about 5-10 minutes. A lot of the DC carts could really learn some things about efficiency from these guys, considering they have probably the most customizable menu options of any food truck here and yet they still manage to get their food out quicker than all but 3 I've visited (Fojol, Sauca, and DC Slices), all of whom offer little to no options for change with their items. read more

We drove through Arlington on our way to D.C. and were didn't have a clue where to have lunch. We finally stopped at the first crowded place we came across, figuring that would be a sure sign of good food. District Taco was hopping. Our hungry hopes rose. We got in line to order. When we overhead conversations like "...and so we had to come to the famous District Taco...." we got excited. We ordered different varieties of tacos-- al pastor, carne asada, carnitas -- with different kinds of toppings. All the meats were tough, dry and did not have much taste. Tomatoes were old. Red onions were dried out. Cilantro was wilted and had lots of black spots. Flour tortillas had an odd texture. Vegetables at their free salsa bar looked tired. Very strange. I just cannot understand the hype and the reputation of this place. We fueled our bodies and left as soon as we could. read more

Ok, I understand why people love this place. One for $3 Two for $5 Three for $7 Not bad at all considering that these tacos come as loaded as you want. You also have the choice of picking from any or all additional toppings that you can add to your taco including pico de gallo, chorizo, cheese, beans, onions, jalepenos and guacamole (screw you Chipotle.) Two soft tacos, and I was pretty full. I also love that they carry Jarritos soda flavors. The guys that work at the truck are really nice and seem to have a great sense of humor as well. I'm also very impressed with their social media savvy. They even have an application that you can download for your iPhone available in the ITunes store. Nice! I came, I saw, I taco'ed. Today marks the much anticipated grand opening of District Taco's brick and mortar location in North Arlington. A great deal of DT's following stems from their Twitter followers and Facebook friends, where they can be informed as to where the taco truck will be serving, usually in and amongst the Ballston or Court House office high rises. Today, their latest tweet/ status update let the public know their restaurant location was officially open for business. I headed over to DT's for none other than their breakfast tacos. I got two basic tacos (egg and cheese) with chorizo, lettuce and pinto beans. Note: if you order breakfast tacos, you get unlimited toppings! While it may be tempting to inhale your food, the taco's sheer size inhibits said inhalation. The tacos are stuffed to the brim, making this a well-spent $2.25 per taco. If you're a long-time DT fan and have since eaten your fare share of tacos, rest assured that while many of the offerings are similar to that of their food truck, there is a new menu addition: burritos! As for beverages-- they have a Boylan's soda machine with free refills. Orange soda, here I come! District Taco is a great addition to the neighborhood and it's nice to see that they're receiving so much business right off the bat. The DT owner seems just as stoked as his customers of the new restaurant. It was pretty awesome that he took the time to personally thank customers for their business, in between expediting orders. While the service was a tad slow at first, I'm sure DT will be running like a well-oiled machine in no time. read more

Ah mi Dios! This place (for its league) is the best! I just put a lot of yummy in my tummy! Sooo much yummy! Dinner tonight was like...Mexican comfort food. Before I make my food suggestions, just make sure you know WHICH District Taco you are headed to. You don't want to do something silly like click the first address you see for D.T. and end up driving in traffic, find street side parking, just to find out you went to the DT STAND AFTER HOURS when you meant to go to the DT restaurant off Lee highway! Like I was saying, for what you pay, you are getting the bang for your buck. I ended up with the spicy burrito with chicken, naked (tortilla-free), topped with chorizo, veggies, and jalapenos. Ummmmazing. Freaking explosion of flavor in your mouth! Definitely what you want to get. I can say this because I tried his tacos, one with pork, one with chicken, and one with beef. The beef was more chewy than we would have liked but was still delicious, the pork was alright, and the chicken probably will more than likely not be purchased again. Like a hooker, District Taco is cheap, delicious, and fairly quick. What's not to love? Kudos to them for having more than one food stand as well as a restaurant. That's the way to do it! read more

Three and a half stars. I like this place as an option when I want tacos more traditional than what Taco Bamba offers, and traffic towards Taco Bar is just borked. Not so much a fan of the burritos, especially when smothered or the flour tortilla got ripped by the assembly line, but the salsa verde gets the job done and the al pastor meat is tender and almost as flavorful as that of my standing local favorites. I'll be hitting their carne asada tacos on corn tortillas next, and eventually their barbacoa / carnitas / pollo asado. read more

Tasty Taco Goodness with a side of chips and fresh guac please! Patience and I are not always on the same side (OK, some friends will say rarely on the same side) but I have sat in the parking lot for nearly 20 minutes at dinner time on a Friday night on more than one occasion just so I could get my hands on DTs guacamole and chips. Yes, they are that good! Incredibly good food at VERY affordable prices. You can get a filling meal here of a couple tacos and a soda (Boylans fountain soda - YUM!) for under $10 - my personal choice is either the carnitas or the breakfast tacos with egg, but they offer beef, fish, shrimp, chicken and veggie options too with plenty of toppings to choose from. The salsa bar has hot and mild salsas, jalapenos, onions, lime wedges, and pico de gallo to add as well. I've only ever had the tacos and quesadillas on my many visits, but the huevos rancheros beckon so I know I'll be digging into a plate of those at some point. The burritos are simply massive (easily 2 meals for me) but maybe I'll find someone to half-ies one of those with me sometime. Parking is limited and can be hard to find at prime times but I've been here plenty of times when there were lots of spaces - and the food is just so good I don't mind waiting when its not. read more

Five stars means it's worth going way out of your way to eat at the place. Judging from the long lines and the jammed parking lot, there are a huge bunch of people who give DT the big five. It's a great concept: honest to goodness tacos, burritos and quesadillas fixed the way you want them. A salsa bar with a range of salsitas to use: mild, fiery, pico de gallo, guacamole and more. (Of the various combios I tried, my fave was carne asada with frijoles negros roasted veggies, and pico de gallo.) A soda fountain with a great selection of microbrew sodas. Quick, friendly service. Inexpensive. The burrito is ve-e-e-e-ry filling. One word of warning: unless you're looking for a play date, avoid DT from 5:30-7:00 pm. It is apparently the go to place for North Arlington parents with screaming kids in pastel crocs. We're talking Arlington, Virginia here. Not San Antonio, Tucson, or San Diego. After reading the good reviews, the girls & I decided to try this restaurant. It wasn't hard to find and I was thrilled that they had parking available. It was pretty empty but it was an early Sunday afternoon. We decided to order carne asada , fish tacos, & chicken nachos. When I got the food I was a little disappointed with the portion sizes. The guys were super friendly and directed us to a nearby park to eat outside since it was perfect weather. I have to say, the food was the best! This is one of those places that commits too many food crimes to be shown any mercy. Let's get started... #1- My friend has a gluten allergy. After ordering three tacos, all on corn tortillas, he received one on a flour tortilla. Very bad! #2- Ceviche was soooo acidic and one dimensional. I realize that this is a borderline fast food joint, but whoa. Lay off the lime juice. Are you trying to use it to slightly cook shrimp (not that the precooked shrimp needed anymore cooking), antibacterial agent, or do you just like to watch people's faces pucker? Jeez.. #3- Hair found in food is an automatic forfeit of all stars. There is nothing that could redeem this in my book. I am just thankful I survived this place. I came in here the other day to grab some food and go. I find the place to be really cute, but I wasn't drawn to the menu like the rest of the Yelpers on here. I find it very basic, and unenthusiastic. I will say Victor the manager is really nice. I had ordered a kid's meal, and on a second thought ordered a second taco to my initial one. It was made quickly, but when I arrived home to eat it - it was at that point I realized it did not have any meat on it. I guess it was a veggie taco that was misplaced into my meal instead of someone else's or they simply forgot to add the meat. Either way, I called DT to inform them, and before I could even finish my sentence -- Victor said, "I know why you called, and I didn't charge you for it because we recognized the error right away. My apologies." I appreciated the gesture and I wasn't charged for the additional taco. As far as this being a place I'd return to -- I would be willing to give a second try. Like I said, the menu to me seemed very underwhelming. On the other hand customer service was top notch and that is enough to draw me back to a place. 3.5 Stars, but I'll round it up to 4. Having heard plenty of buzz about District Taco, I figured I might as well give them a shot. A hop and a skip and I was across the Potomac, ready to nosh on some Mexican goodness. The parking lot was packed (imagine a low-budget airliner, but for cars) yet the restaurant itself had plenty of open seats. The cashier was nice, as were the other workers I interacted with and the food came out quickly. District Taco has quite a few offerings but I decided to go straight for the tacos. I ordered two tacos with barbacoa and cheese. Real simple, I know, but you can add up to three toppings for free (although there are some premium toppings that cost extra). There's a salsa bar with some different salsas, from mild to medium to hot (that last one is pretty spicy). Boylan's soda is available "on tap" from a fountain, which is always a nice treat. The tacos themselves were... underwhelming given the hype I've read. The meat was tasty, and the cheese was good, but these tacos are not that big. I am compelled to compare to Chipotle tacos that are like the Ford Excursions of the fast food world. These were more like an Explorer. I also wish they offered hard shell tacos, because the whole package was a little too soft for me. Nevertheless, they were tasty enough for me to order a third (although that was also because I was still hungry). This time I went to town on the taco and put on guacamole and chorizo. That combination was very flavorful, although the chorizo was a bit too oily. Overall I liked it, but I wouldn't drive out here just for the tacos again. If it's not an inconvenient drive for you then by all means check it out. The ingredients are fresh and tasty, but don't go expecting the Mexican ambrosia. read more

Te quiero District Taco. I mean, what's not to love about this local business. Very few businesses have survived previously in this little strip mall because they lacked the passion that D.T. has obviously invested. Despite the parking dragons that fire me up in this compact parking trap- it's worth a trip. The food packs flavor and freshness that their competition (Moe's, Chipoltle) lacks. Boylan's soda is the cherry on my sundae and is simply- a fiesta in my mouth. When a diet coke addict sucks it down like Whitney Houston on crack, you know it's good. The service is always great and the owners have always stopped by to say "hello" since opening week. District Taco has it all! Support this local business. They've earned my vote! read more

I've been meaning to try this place out, and was anticipating a great meal from the reviews I read. However, I left disappointed. The restaurant set-up is like a chipotle kind of, but with brighter colors and handmade looking signs. It's fun, but for some reason I was expecting a hole-in-the-wall, authentic atmosphere. I gave it 3 stars, due to the friendly-enough service, and ease of getting the food. After you order, they give you a card with an item on it in Spanish, and it poses as a place card basically where they bring the food to your table. It took 10 minutes for 3 tacos, enough time for you to explore the salsa bar (and enough time for me to get one little cup of each topping/salsa). I liked the idea of the salsa bar, but the green sauce was tasteless, and the other salsa flavors were forgettable as well. Another tip: Get the corn tortilla, they won't ask you, and will give flour automatically. I'm convinced that my experience at District Taco might have been a little better if I got corn tortillas... Maybe I'll find out, if I ever venture back here, but It's not likely to be anytime soon after my so-so visit. read more
