This is a very special place for me and my family. In February 2015 my adult son was diagnosed with leukemia. I worked on numerous ways to help raise money for his family; one of which, was to put together a benefit poker run. I approached Big John Hardison at the dealership, to see if they would help me put this together, they not only said "yes" the whole dealership jumped in with both feet. They assisted me with the "know how" of how to get the sponsors, the gift donations, and of course the riders. We had a great and very successful event, raising over $6,000 in one day. This could never have been done without all the guys and gals of Battley stepping up to lend my family a hand. I have had my bike serviced with them, and I highly recommend you work with Ron in the service department, as his word is gold. I can't leave out the personable folks in the sales department, as they have been assisting me and a friend with upgrading our rides real soon. Top notch through and through! In 2009 my husband and I purchased our Ducati from Battley where they went above and beyond what we expected of them. We regularly used them for service on our motorcycle and experienced the same with their service department personnel and mechanics. Everyone at Battley clearly loves what they do and they are experts in their field with an impressive knowledge of all things with two wheels (and accessories, music, cooking and more)! For the last six years we have taken Valentino (our Ducati) in for service, and every time, each and every employees has been super friendly and accomodating. Not once have they expressed being annoyed with us for wanting to test drive the latest and greatest while waiting for service to service Valentino. Because Battley has always been so delightful, we recently returned to purchase a BMW R nineT one Saturday morning. Despite the shop being slammed with customers, we experienced a flawless transaction where they thought of everything from A-Z and more. Sam facilitated our purchase, answered all our questions and took the time to show us the finer details of our new BMW, affectionately named Amadeus. There were others who played a part in our purchase. Karen, Tom and Todd were also great to work with. A note to women riders: Often we are intimidated by the male-dominated world of motorcycles shops. From the first time I stepped foot into Battley through present time, not a single associate made any assumptions of any kind. My father taught my brother and I to drive motorcycles at a very young age, and before owning Valentino, I owned and operated several motorcycles. Prior to owning Valentino, it had been a number of years since I was on the saddle and I was horribly out of touch regarding the latest technology and safety gear. No matter when I would visit or who I spoke to prior to our purchase, Battley always put me at ease. Very unfriendly staff, at least in the service department. I bought a motorcycle there in 2008, (that is no longer in production), and I used to get it serviced there. The person who took my call, instead of explaining that the dealership had changed ownership and that they are not servicing this brand anymore, simply began to repeat the same sentence every time (the brands they service) every time I asked him a question, very rude, and we are the clients! When you buy a vehicle, service is part of it. For the prospective buyers, please take it into account when you buy a motorcycle there. read more

I've been a customer since 2012 and have bought a couple of bikes from Battley and have always been pleased with their service, particularly with Sam and his dedication to his customer's. However, my experience with their service department has been bad enough that I started taking my Ducati's to another dealer over 3 hours away. I recently purchased a new bike and I have to say their service department has done a 180. They apparently changed a few of the service managers /providers and it has made all the difference. If you've had a bad experience in the past I'd have no problem recommending that you give them another shot. I think you'll be impressed. Kyle made sure I was taken care of since I came from about 40 miles out and needed to get to a ride and there was a warranty issue where Conway made it such an easy situation where I was out the door within minutes. read more

I needed to have my HD FSXB darkened ( replacing all the engine chrome parts with gloss black). I went in on July 16th, 2020 to order the parts. The guy at the parts dept (Larry) is very grouchy. It took him almost a half hour to place the order with little interaction with me standing there. All that to tell me that it would be some three weeks before the parts could get in. I paid $1436 for ALL the parts needed for the job. Now service booked me for July 30th. Up until the 29th, I did not receive a single update on the status of my parts. I went in on the 29th to be told everything was in but the cam cover. They have had my bike now for two weeks, I have not received any updates yet again so I decided to go in and check since I wanted some additional work done. Larry took another half hour to order a couple parts ( after telling me that "Service should be doing this"). Back to service to see where we stood, I am told I have a "$906 layaway deposit" and a balance of $1234. I asked the service manager ( Matt) how come my "deposit" was not at least equal to the amount I paid for the parts? " I am not sure, you need to talk to parts"..yet the addition to my work order by the parts dept was immediately available to him. I left and sent him an email with a copy of the charge to my credit card. Full credit to Matt, he followed up. The parts I paid for were not all on the list he was working from. What? Anyways, that's where we are, I don't anticipate getting my bike for another month and will look at at every detail. I miss Old Glory HD.. read more

About a year ago I took my BMW 1200GS for tune up service with brakes and tires at District Cycles at the Airpark in Gaithursburg after making an appointment with them. They assured me that it would be done in 1/2 a day. Turns out that District did not pre-order or have in stock brake pads or tires for my bike, ( one of the most popular bikes in the word). District Cycles kept the bike for 10 days ( I skipped a week-end riding that way and it was totally unnecessary). When I went to pick the GS I noted that while they did change tires and brakes, they did not take care of other minor issues I wanted to be resolved. Anyway, I picked up my bike and wanted to get out of there. I am now trying to sell my bike, but the would be buyer pointed out that my service records were messed up. I then noticed that the 2017 tune up was registering Miles in at 15,411 miles and the 2018 Tune up receipt was showing the same Miles in at 15,411 - They never updated the service records or mileage- and not only that, the service was terrible ( 3 screws are still missing ) and they charged me $1401.95 for the service. I went to District Cycle today ( May 2019) with my service records to ask them to update the service records for my GS, and clean up the service record for my bike, but the service manager at District refused to correct their wrongdoing. - After 20 years I decided to get out of BMW all together and get a HONDA. read more

Whenever I'm out of town I make a point of stopping by the local Harley dealerships & picking up some shirts. ( I've got quite the collection!) Anyhow on this particular occasion I was in MD on vacation. I'd wanted to get some shirts but ran out of time. As luck would have it, we ended up missing our flight. So after making new rental car & hotel reservations, I thought "Hey, I can still get a shirt @ that dealership since we're here for another day". By the time I left BWI Airport I knew traffic was going to be bad, but I hit the road anyhow. Google assured me I would arrive at 6:51 p.m. So I called the dealership to make sure they weren't closing early. I sp w Allison who assured me they closed at 7. I told her I was coming from Baltimore and was on my way to get some shirts and that I would be there very close to 7. At 6:50 p.m. I got turned around about a mile away and called to say I was at the corner & lost. I sp w Allison again, who proceeded to give me directions how to get there. I got there right at 7. Doors locked. Tap on glass. " Allison" comes to door & states the obvious "We're closed"! Duh! So I tell her I just sp w her & I drove all the way from Baltimore to get a couple shirts. Again, Miss Attitude states "We're closed", but that she'll check with "the guy" to see if he wants to stay open to sell us some shirts. She returns & says "No, he doesn't want to. He's counting" very rudely. So ok, my question is... Why the Hell give me directions to your place when you have no intention of allowing me in your store to sell anything???!!! Allison's people skills suck! And if I'm ever back this way again I won't be stopping here to shop. Guess I can look at it this way I saved myself about $250 because that's what I've been averaging at these dealerships that I stopped at on this trip. read more

I wanted to take a moment to personally thank the staff at Battley Cycles for the time and attention that I received during my motorcycle purchase. I was buying from another state and conducting the entire transaction by phone and e-mail making it a bit more difficult for all parties involved. I had the pleasure of dealing with Andrea Moreno in the finance office. She was instrumental in working out a very difficult titling situation due to the states involved. In order to get it done, she had to make several calls to me and to my bank. She was able to come up with creative solutions for a complicated process. She was friendly, helpful and responsive and I really appreciated the additional effort that was required. My salesman, Todd Dibell, patiently stuck with me as it took several days to work out the issues and then did a remarkable job of dealing with the added difficulty of coming to terms on the bike having never met me face to face. He was professional and courteous and if it weren't for his willingness to put in the extra effort, we would not have gotten this done. I am looking forward to taking delivery on my new (to me) Ducati (yes, it's red!) next week and meeting the team at Battley for the first time so I can thank them in person for everything they did to help me get exactly what I wanted. I've been way behind on my reviews and I suppose I should be ashamed, with the elite moniker on my profile. So what better way to restart than with a crap review of Battleys. I've made two mistakes that have led me to this 1 star rating; Firstly, I bought an Italian bike. European bikes are notorious for the annual service costs you'll pay to own something "premium". Secondly, the service I had to do could only be done by dealerships (see mistake one). In all fairness was the lesser of the two evils compared to Colesmans Powersports in Falls Church. That place reeks of douche and rip-off artists. Still, Battleys fairs no better. Without getting too, too wordy into why you should NEVER take a motorcycle/car into the dealership, I'll say they don't give a fuck about you and rip you off while having a big shit grinning smile on their faces. What was supposed to be a 5.3 hour maintenance job ended up with my bike in the shop for 2 weeks. Yep, two weeks. Hard to believe as it is with me as my mechanic for 11 years usually got my bike fixed (I neglected and abused my old bike) in 2-3 days (see mistake one). My initial estimate for routine service was $650 + a piece of plastic I wanted them to order for my exhaust. Ouch! But fine...see mistake one. Kyle whatever his name was seemed to be the guy that would be doing my work on it as he took my info and was my point of contact. Wrong. He basically just dicked around, tried to overcharge me for work I didn't agree to (changing the timing belts), and promised me he'd send me a breakdown of the estimate via email right after we hung up on the phone. This never happened. Bold face lies ftw! I call back about a week after my bike is in the shop to get an update. No update on my bike, but now my estimate was $1045. What the holy fuck?! No explanation either. I was in such disbelief that I hung up with Kyle and called back asking for the service manager. I told him my original estimate and that I didn't agree to do the extra work. He informed me that the mechanic, whom apparently didn't even look at my bike yet, was just going by the book and was gonna do what was "recommended". All without asking me. Asshats! Also, apparently there is only one Master mechanic in the place that always seemed to be "out a lunch"...at 6 pm. Yep, 6 pm. Maybe they go by another time zone I'm not aware of. They claimed it took so long for them to get to my bike because of the ordered plastic part, which I could have put on myself in 5 minutes. The sad part is that dealerships like this actually think they're doing riders a service, because most people that come in have that rider machismo, and look-at-me-wannabe-badass rider guy. They ripe off people that drink the kool-aid. I unfortunately made mistake one and had to bend over and take it. I just never knew they'd attempt to hose me so badly, and for so long. Stay away from Battleys/Colemans/dealerships and all their glimmer. Go to a local shop (Meyer Cycle Engineering) for the best service and to feel you've not been split roasted by a bunch of grease monkeys. Done. read more

Junk Dealer. I bought a used bike about 6 months ago (2007 FXDC with under 7500 miles). Thus far I've had the bike in the shop a total of 1.5 months. The gas tank leaked, which they fixed at no cost and I thanked them for that. That service took over 2 weeks because they ordered the wrong part and had to order a new one. I understand that and didn't fault them for it. The second time I had it in there because I got a flat tire during a ride. The flat tire was due to debris and as such is my fault. I had them replace that. (normally an hour or 2 job) but they had to order my tire. (it is a factory tire of the factory size on a very common bike) that took another 2 weeks... I've heard of a busy shop but its replacing a tire; seriously. A little over a month later the rear sprocket bolts came completely off and sheered loose and they claim that they have nothing to do with it. They did try to work with me to the tune of $1700. As this wasn't my fault I felt that to be unacceptable. They tried to get extended warranty to cover it, they would not. Harley Davidson says it is outside of the warranty period so they would not cover it. The dealership refused to take responsibility so they would not pay. They did promise to work with me in the respect that I could get the parts at cost and they would cover the labor. I figured this is the best deal I'm going to get so I took it ($550 or $750 if I wanted to replace the swingarm). I went down there 3 days later to find out they had just placed the order for parts the day before, they hadn't taken the bike apart at all. I find it unacceptable for a bike to be in a shop for a week, have no work done at all on it and then to order parts without verifying they needed to order the parts is ludicris. I told them I would never bring my bike there again. They told me maybe I shouldn't bring it back there and that was my choice. About 15 min later they called me on my cell phone to tell me they were backing out of their deal. Their sales staff is friendly and their parts people are knowledgeable. Their service department sucks. They dont' keep parts in stock, they don't take apart something to look at it, they just order what a manual says and then replace the parts period. I also found out they only do a MD inspection and that is all for bikes that are used. They don't actually look the bike over. Also the best staff member they had left, Bingo was probably the best sales man I've encountered to date. WIthout him I won't be going back. I also encourage all of my friends who ride to avoid this shop until they fix their service attitude and learn how to take responsibility for their own mess. read more

Even gave me info about other dealers near me and offered to come by my home when I was having a issue with my bike. Bingo in the Used sales dept is great, and easy to work with. Gave me lots of followup calls to make sure m,y bike was working well. Nice selection of gear, a little overpriced but it is a Harley store, but I'm willing to pay extra for good service. read more

In 2005 I purchased a NEW 2003 Ducati 999. My second new bike purchase from Battley Cycles Battley Harley-Davidson. After 400 miles of riding the bike, one of the front oil cooler lines fell off mid corner slicking my tires in oil. I was able to get the bike stopped without hitting the guard rail and had it towed back to Battley. To make a long story short, They blamed me for the problem saying I must have loosened the oil cooler lines installing the exhaust that they sold me when I purchased the bike. Problem is that they sold me slip-ons so I never touched the header near the oil cooler. They then told me that they would not warranty the tires as there was nothing wrong with them. Apparently having hot tires dripping with oil does not damage them (the hot tires wick in the oil and sweats it out next time they get hot). I called Pirelli and they told me that under no circumstances should the tires be reused. After yelling at them and taking my bike to another ducati shop to have it checked out, the other shop pulled the history of the bike. IT TURNS OUT THAT BATTLEY CHANGED THE OIL COOLER UNDER A FACTORY RECALL BEFORE THEY SOLD ME THE BIKE AND LIED TO ME TELLING ME THAT I MUST HAVE CAUSED THE PROBLEM. STAY AWAY FROM BATTLEY LIKE THE PLAGUE. THEIR INCOMPETENCE MAY KILL YOU, THEY WILL THEN BLAME YOU FOR IT. read more

Two years later and I'm still a fan of the parts and service department. I've bought several add-ons since the purchase, including tall seat/bars, highway pegs, fog lights, Stage II audio, yearly service and storage. Also (a little off topic for Harley riders) I had Battley rebuild my front forks on my Honda CRF250X; they did a great job! Loving the service dept. I'm still a fan! read more

Big mistake buying my BMW from this store. The place is a complete disaster when it comes to service. No one knows what the other person is doing, and no one can give you an informed answer as to what is happening with your bike. You call the service department and most of the time the call goes directly to voice-mail...don't expect a call back. Brought my bike to have a set of lights installed on Sat, July 6th. They did not work on it until Wed, 10th. They claimed one of the parts was not working properly so I ordered one overnight. The part arrived the following day (Friday, July 12th) at noon, but no one on the shop could find it. Every time I called they assured me the part had not arrived although I had a tracking number. I went there on Saturday and pointed them to their PO Box, since the part was small and delivered by the USPS. The part had been there all along. Then the next problem... one of the ladies that work there had the only key to the PO Box with her and she was at home. She was not coming back until Saturday afternoon. Thus, the part was not retrieved until later that day and, obviously, they did not work on the bike. I called one of the managers yesterday (Monday) to see when the bike was going to be ready and he said that, because we missed the original appointment, due to the so-called faulty part, I had to wait another five days. The fact that the new part was sitting in their box for almost two days did not mean a thing. This is the most disjointed bunch I have ever encountered, and I am really surprised they are still in business. Some of the folks working there are fine people, but no one is driving the bus. If you are looking for a manager that will assist you...good luck - they change managers almost monthly. If you don't mind your bike going into La La land, and you not knowing what the heck is going on, then come to this place. But if you are expecting any degree of service, logic, our empathy, save yourself a lot of aggravation and go somewhere else. read more

This review was edited to reflect the fact that Battley read my original review and went out of their way to earn my business. After a little bit of a rough experience, Battley's operations manager, Kelly let me know that they read my review and wanted to do what they could to address my concerns. Long story short-they did. Because I had done a lot of research into what I wanted to buy, I went to the dealership ready to make a deal. Unfortunately, the first day I went was a Saturday. As good as the sales staff is, they were constantly being pulled away by other customers. I was able to do a demo ride on both the R1200GS and GSA. Each time I came back, my salesman had to help someone else. I was there for about 3 hours and left without being able to have my old bike appraised. Later that week, I called to arrange an appraisal. I also made an oil change appointment, just in case we weren't able to do the deal. The appraisal came in much lower than I had anticpated, and there were some additonal charges that I was not comfortable with. Unfortunately, the sales staff was unable to alleviate my concerns. I left my old bike there for maintenance, and rode home with my family. That night I wrote a review that went into some depth about my concerns. The next day when I went to pick up my bike, Kelly met me at the counter and let me know she wanted to do what she could to make me happy. We went back and forth with emails a few times, and she was able to personally work with the GM to get me to a price I was comfortable with. A few days later, we closed the deal. I can say that despite the initial issues, the deal ended VERY smoothly. The sales staff is incredibly knowledgeable about the bikes. Kyle at the service desk is simply the best in the business. I even struck up conversations with the parts manager and other sales staff that had nothing to do with the deal. The finance department was also top notch. They take the time to read reviews, and they went the extra mile to earn my business. read more

Awesome customer service - these guys (and gals) have it dialed in! I have a Ducati and repairs are expensive so I try and do as much as I can myself, but Battley has reasonable pricing, is very upfront about what things cost, and timely in their communication and servicing, THANK YOU! I was a little bummed that a fork issue I was having wasn't entirely addressed when I brought my bike in for a valve adjustment, but my bike is running so well now and I didn't have to sell my first-born to pay for it that overall I'm pretty happy! read more

This is the worst store ever if you want to buy a new motorcycle. The salesperson wanted to sell me a motorcycle $3.000 above the MSRP. He probably thought I didn't do any research. When I told him that i know the MSRP he tried to get out of trouble and explained that this is a very hard to get bike and that's why it is more (A HD 883 iron? Really?) I gave him another chance with the price since I actually wanted to take the bike home. But after he still came back with an ridiculous price which was more than the MSRP I decided to leave immediately. Considering that the new models are coming out tomorrow, I wish him good luck finding someone too dumb to buy a motorcycle from this store. read more

They let you test drive the bike, don't apply any high pressure tactics, and seemed like genuinely good people. Salesman I worked with Mike was a solid guy. After searching around I went to battley in Feb'15 to buy my first Harley and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was very responsive in scheduling a visit and once I was there I was greeted with a smiling face by all. Todd D was the reason I'm giving the dealership a 5 star rating. He was very personable and helpful throughout the purchase process and worked with me well to get me a decent deal. One week after the purchase I had a minor display screen issue but they expedited the whole process and took care of me. If I lived closer, I would go to Battley for every minor purchase/upgrade/service. I must admit that my first few experiences at Battley several years ago were underwhelming, but an unexpected return in April for the service department truly unearthed the proud new values of the dealership. There appeared to have been a major shift in tides in terms of the caliber of customer service, staff attitude and the quality of personnel employed at the dealership. Some old faces remained, but for the most part, the old faces were the ones that I would want help from, the ones who went out of their way to help me, and to have the know-how to get job done and a sense of humor to make it enjoyable. The woman who sold me my warranty was patient, flexible and accommodating and she did so with a smile. The service manager Conway was fantastic and included in this review is a letter I wrote to him concerning his exemplary employee Kyle, who was outstanding and instrumental in getting the work done, and done ahead of schedule: "Good morning, Kyle, I wanted to thank you and your team for giving exemplary customer service, and very good work. I have been scarred by the atrocious regime at Harley D of Baltimore for too long; they don't answer or return my phone calls and often I am treated there as nuisance rather than a customer. Even though they are significantly closer and getting these is considerably more feasible, whereas to gaithersburg is a major inconvenience, because of you and your team's efforts, honesty, transparent and thorough communicative efforts, you have won my business and my recommendations for both my nightrod and my s1000rr. I genuinely appreciate your patience and candor, in addition to your expansive technical know-how concerning what actually needs to be done, and a realistic timetable with explanation concerning the work. When Harley Davidson of Baltimore gave me a service date of May the 8th, you said it would be done by the end of this week, the work having already been completed on Friday the 17th. It's no wonder my riding friend strongly suggested your service department, and in the future, when asked where anyone should take their Duc, BMW, Harley or EBR, suffice it to say, that will be mine as well. I look forward to a pleasant working relationship as long as I am in the DMV area. After having some very poor experiences with other service centers around the Baltimore area, I found Battley. Their service team is 100% top-notch. I am no expert when it comes to motorcycles, and Ron and Conway in the service department were both unbelievable: answered every single question I had quickly, and were always available to help. My Ducati Monster was in for a Desmo Service, and we found out that my tank was defective, and despite my bike being out of warranty, Battley contacted Ducati on my behalf and got a new gas tank for free! They were not only friendly, available and helpful, but they saved me $1,300!! All around great marks for a great staff- service, sales, etc! Came in 2 weeks ago to buy equipment after recently buying a Ducati, and was instantly approached by Mark who noticed my interest in other Ducati's, and could've talked to me about them to my heart's content, sharing great stories about racing (which I was loving). Then, Mother Christine saw that I was interested in buying a jacket, and helped me find the perfect size for the right mix of comfort and safety. Two weeks after buying my bike, I had clutch problems so I set up an appointment for this week. Called in on Friday and got an appointment for this Thursday, but as Tuesday is my only day off I brought the bike in then. Matt, at service, told me he'd see if they could look at it before Thursday but said he couldn't make any promises. I get a call back 5 hours later from Matt saying that one of the tech's had already had the chance to look at it and that the problem was not the clutch itself ($300 just for part) but the wiring connecting it. Then he tells me I'd probably be able to pick it up by the next day, Wednesday. Today (Wednesday), Matt calls me back to tell me that the bike is good to go, and my charges were only $150 total, compared to the $600+ I was preparing for. Not only did these guys get my bike looked at immediately, it was completely ready to go a day before my appointment date itself! And unlike other auto/moto dealers which are notoriously sketchy about overcharging and always finding something else to charge you for, these guys helped me save a couple hundred bucks. 100% have my business from now on. Before you even consider going to Colemans in VA or elsewhere, check out the reviews, and if they don't scare you away, take the time to walk into Battley's. The sales department folks are absolutly awesome, no presure here like alot of HD Dealers or car dealers, they are not up your ass. There is not a big inventory of bikes but they will and can get you whatever you want. The apparel dept also is rather small and sparse. I have not used thier service dept. THEY GIVE MILITARY DISCOUNTS so dont forget to ask, they love Vets here. read more

Fantastic customer experience! For those of you experiencing/ embracing a mid-life crisis, and look to trade in your HD Fatboy for a Ducati....this is the place. Sam and I began the conversation via e mail over the Thanksgiving holiday and based off his willingness to discuss options, open and transparent approach, and candor I chose to drive all the way to Gaithersburg to try out Battley vice visiting something a bit closer (Fairfax, VA). I shall return! First, customer service was attentive, patient, and candid. Sam facilitated the trade professionally keeping both of our equities in mind....no pressure, just professional courteous business. Second, Sam spent over 2.5 hours with me spending Ducati Accessory bucks and getting re-outfitted for sport bike riding; advice was spot on and necessary. Third, Sam personally spent additional time ensuring the bike was detailed and full of gas ready for me to ride. He was very detailed and patient walking me through the controls and subtleties of an Italian sport bike; after 20 years of HD I need the guidance. All in all my customer experience exceeded expectations and I will be a return customer even with a 35 mi one way transit. read more

I spoke to this guy name Kevin, who was an absolute tin head. He was very rude and nasty. He email me an estimate for $315 to change my front brakes, rotors and brake fluid flush. When I contacted them to schedule the service, Kevin told me a whole new price of $407. He had no explanation for the price change and then he started to have an attitude and started to use profanity. Later I found out that the shop used really bad quality parts. Leaving an annoying squeek and a quickly degrading rotor. I left multiple messages for someone to resolve my issues and felt like no one gave care to the customer. read more
