Purchased a 2024 Ducati from them last year and went to schedule my annual service only to be told they no longer sell or service Ducatis as of last week. While I understand that this is solely a dealership decision, highlighting your intent or this decision to all the folks that have purchased bikes from your store or rely on your store for service would have been helpful. read more

Three of us walked in last Saturday all on bikes and went to look at one of the two ultra classics used. One had battery power the one my buddy was interested in was dead. Hey can you put a battery in this bike I want to take it around the block brought cash I'll drive it home. He has a business block away leave his old bike there. The older guy said no I'm not putting a battery in it. WHAT? no not doing it now. Went to Hanover and drove ultra classic home. If I was the owner I would be pissed you lost the sale. District Ducati Managed to turn me off in single 1 phone call. I submitted an online service request with a list- yes it's a list- of itemized work that I need for my 2018 Ducati Monster 1200. The service manager called me back promptly which was nice but it went downhill from there. I need a 36K Desmo service, have what will likely be an expensive undiagnosed transmission issue, a leaking fork, plus a few little things... on this list. I said that I'd prefer for the fork seals to be repaired, rather than replaced if possible. Our initial conversation was going as expected from a bike service shop up until we got to the forks. The manager quoted that for the Desmo and the forks, I was looking at $4,000- just to start-not even including the yet -to-be-diagnosed transmission issue / which will very likely be the most expensive part of these repairs. I understand and am planning that all of this will be a very costly undertaking but was not clear on why the manager said he would ONLY do brand new forks-no possibility of anything else and at at $1,100 - just for the parts. The painting turned rather dickfacey after this when I asked him to just explain why they couldn't possibly even try to repair the fork seals (because I truly don't know what the options could be), the manager told me in a snippy reply "because I'm not taking apart a 36K mile bike to try to repair the forks seals, just to have them fail and have to take it apart again!" Yes service manager, that sounds like an excellent reason to give to your potential new customer who just told you'd they willing drop $4K in service without batting an eyelash and probably spend whatever $$$ it took to get their bike fully fixed because they love it that much. Instead, you just represented your shop as being too lazy or just obstinately unwilling to take my bike apart twice which would maybe save me hundreds of dollars... because it's a pain?? Even though it would be MY MONEY paying you to take it apart however many times it had to be taken apart?? Interestingly, and in direct contrast to this conversation, the photo below is from a very polite and HELPFUL email that I received from another Ducati service shop right after having this lovely conversation with district Ducati. Funny how this other shop says it's very UNlikely that forks on a bike of this age would have to be totally replaced... This other shop may very week end up being wrong but the point here is how you treat and speak to customers, new and old. Since I felt like I'd be hard pressed for district Ducati to stop acting like I'm doing them a favor by paying for THEIR services, it made no sense to even give this place a chance. So just like that... it was over. There's no need for me to drive to bumblefuck no where for bike service. But I was absolutely willing to do so if it would help me find a good, helpful, reliable, and competent Ducati service shop. District Ducati is NOT that shop. read more

I sold my VTX to a guy who lives in Germantown. He took the bike to District H-D after calling to make sure they were OK with Darkside (Card tire on the rear, which is no-where restricted by MD regulations and SHOULD pass if the guy was decent and honest) for the inspection, which I said I would take care of for him. Had a Good Year ATT on it, with LOADS of tread. He got the bike there, and the inspector failed it for that, and said it needed neck bearings (it didn't). It was also failed for the wrong turn signals on the hard-bags, which was correct. Either way, there is no way to argue with a State Inspector, so I paid a mechanic (NOT District H-D, which I would never use based on their attitude) $600 I had not anticipated, to get the bike on the road for the new owner. Yeah, Darkside is controversial, but is not a legit fail. I had that tire down many a twist mountain road in a lot of conditions that would leave a MC tire sliding out from under you. And the Neck Bearing issue was just pur eignorance. A master mechanic I know personally checked it after that, said the front tire was slightly cupped, which could make the front shimmy a bit. Avoid these people like the plague. read more

Recently, I bought my 3rd bike from District Harley. At first, I was happy with the purchased. But then, I became very disappointed after. I told them that I wanted to transfer my Military Tag over to the new one. Well, it didn't happen. So, I had to return it and then request for a new one. Then, they didn't take my photo with the new bike and had no intention of me ringing the bell. I had to ask as to when it would happen. I felt like, they left me hanging once I signed for the new bike. Now, I'm waiting for my Extended Warranty and Maintenance Package to be CANCELED. I hope that they didn't screw these up. UPDATE: turned out, they did screw these up. I found out that they didn't even submit the documents to CANCEL. I SPOKE WITH THE GM, "HE STATED THAT HE'LL TAKE CARE OF IT THEN HE'LL SEND ME EMAIL TO CONFIRM THAT'S IT'S BEEN CANCELED. GUESS WHAT, NO EMAIL"With all that said, I'm a VERY DISAPPOINTED customer. Absolutely one of the better shops in the area. The one closer to Fort Meade - don't take you bike there. Take the extra distance to District. The only reason they don't receive five stars is how aggressive the sails people are at trying to sell you a bike. That's their job and what Harley wants them to do but it's annoying to me. But everyone, even the sales guy are good people. They care about your bike and fix it correctly. I had to drop mine off after the shippers damaged it while transporting. On a cold and windy Saturday afternoon, February 19th to be exact, I asked my wife if we could stop by District Harley Davidson in Gaithersburg Maryland. I had my eye on the 2022 Road King Special that I wanted to see in person and get a feel for. Just to be clear, my wife and I are moving to North Carolina in a few weeks and my plan was to get a bike but not until after the move. We also agreed to stop by the dealership just to "look". We opened the front door (with our 8 month old son named Oliver too) and we're greeted by Dino within 5 seconds. He was very polite, not pushy, and showed me the Black Road King Special on the showroom floor. I have to say upon first sight, the bike is a beautiful machine. Photos don't do it justice! From front to back the bike is mostly blacked out and has a very clean streamlined appearance for a bagger. No big fairing, no windshield, just simple and clean looking. Dino went over all the specs like some of the safety features regarding the breaks and cruise control. He answered any questions I had, and I love how the Special has the Milwaukee Eight 114cu! After throwing a leg over the saddle I knew right then and there this was the bike, comfortable, powerful and looking awesome! We continued chatting and explained that we we're just looking today but shockingly my wife turned and said "just run the numbers" Lol I wasn't expecting that!! but I didn't argue with her and Dino went right to work with setting up an application. I wanted to finance the bike with Harley (I've had a great experience with Eagle Mark Bank and this will be my 4th Harley with them). Meanwhile, Matt, the general sales Manager, came over and introduced himself to the whole family, he was also pleasant and made sure we were taken care of. On a side note, the dealership had a nice layout, very open and clean. Their inventory was well stocked; bikes, accessories, parts, and clothing. Also well employed, I know several businesses that have suffered due to the pandemic being short staffed but District Harley had employees ready to help in every department. Our 8 month old son was behaving so well which was a plus and he attracted a lot of attention of-course. Matt worked on numbers and presented us with a total out the door. To be honest it was over the monthly payment we had planned for our budget so we respectfully declined and said we have to be closer to this number or we can't get the bike. He said he'd work on it and find a number that worked for us, and he did! The negotiation went smoothly and we never felt pressured. Aaron "Mug" (the business manager) helped us go over and sign paperwork, he was very patient and courteous. He got one of the best interest rates that I've ever had on a bike loan, 5.99%. He let me sign his office door with a permanent marker and I wrote "District Harley, Selling Freedom" below my name :) Buying the Road King Special was still surreal at this point and it hadn't hit me yet. However, Dino took a family photo with the new bike and made a very loud announcement to the whole dealership right before I got to ring a massive iron bell on the showroom floor. The bell was so loud my son started crying which made me feel bad haha but also exhilarating because all the staff clapped and it finally hit me that I was getting a 2022 all blacked out badass machine! I also wanted to mention Julian and Larry, the parts specialists, who went over some great options for the bike, I ended up coming back and buying s-100 cleaners and a nice Harley cover too. All the staff we dealt with were respectful, friendly and just congratulated us on the new bike, it made a big difference to us and we just wanted to say thank you!! The dealership delivered my bike for free right to my home which I appreciate very much. I've only put 20 miles on the bike since and can't wait to put more on. If I could give this company a 0 star I would. We bought a bike from here when it was known as Battley Cycles(great people and great service) It recently changed management to District Harley. Customer service went downhill very fast. We wanted to know our options and sell our bike to them and we were told that first we couldn't but weren't given a reason (not sure why because they purchase and sell used bikes). Once the sales rep said that we could, my husband said he will bring in his bike for an appraisal and the sales representative demeanor changed and gave the impression that he was an inconvenience. My husband was then passed through a chain of people and received run around. Why? I'm not sure. Our last reasoning for now...I'm sure more problems will appear. We were told by Shawn) THE OWNER) that if we applied for their Harley credit card we can use that to pay it off (the option the gave us- have them buy the bike and then use the cc to pay off the rest) and then make monthly payments to the credit card. THAT WAS A LIE! He applied, got credit pulled and the whole deal for us to pay off the bike. Well we went to pay it off and the card was invalid or expired. So then he went to District to figure it out and needless to say...we will not be doing business with them again. Yes we should have read the disclosures more carefully but to lie to customers...not a good business and shows you the type of person/company you are dealing with. Bought my first Harley here in 2004 and was treated like family every time I went in. Now, the recognition isn't there, but the staf has completely turned over as well. Chopper always has tim e to say hello and a handshake, and the service staff always takes time to explain things in detail. Their estimates are usually pretty close to my expectations, though I usually need a lot when I bring my bike in. The motorclothes selection is a bit thin, but then, that's the direction most dealers seem to be going. I still enjoy stopping in when I'm in Gaithersburg, and will continue to be a customer here. read more

Take your money else where, I had problems surrounding my bike (non mechanical) and went in to figure everything out. We got some things resolved but after we agreed on a certain reimbursement all communication went silent. I sent emails with no response, and left messages with no response since May of this year. I have direct contact with the GM there who promised me the reimbursement and then went on to ignore me and not respond to my messages. I understand we're in a pandemic but there's certain things that just don't take this long. So if you want to feel respected take your business somewhere else. What happened to this place since District took over the Battley dealership... While the shop itself is virtually unchanged, the mood in there is tense. But for a consumer, the main problem may be price transparency. I inquired about a 1-year old used HD since the price on the website was good and took a look at it in person. On top of a processing fee of several hundred dollars (which is pretty standard), they add a recondition charge of $800 (eight hundred) to make it, I quote, "showroom clean." You'd think a $20K used bike comes cleaned. Even worse, you cant opt out of this scam either! I think this is unheard of. Good luck folks for your idea of being a premium HD dealership. His customer service was impeccable! Then I went back and brought my brother in law and Dino work it out and also make it possible for my brother in law to own his 2017 softail Breakout. The deal went smoothly. And most recently I purchased another Harley Davidson. I went to look at a bike for a friend and found a 2009 Sportster 883L. Brought my BMW here for service and they managed to not get it right. The fitment of final pieces and the fact that the radio and other electronics did not function after service made the experience less than expected. They also managed to scratch the chrome. Took the bike back to give them the chance to fix the items but am regretting taking it here. May be ok for Harley's but not so far for BMW. For the $ you would expect better results. Will let you know after the second chance. After meeting with the GM and discussing my concerns, He listened and said he would give me some cash back and take care of the issues. Fixed some of the issues but nothing on the scratched chrome. Never gave me cash or credit and no follow up. All talk. If you have to shop here, get everything in writing so you don't end up dissatisfied. Better yet go elsewhere. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. The General manager, Tim, is a lie, a cheat and just a piece of garbage. I had a repair done here on my motorcycle that included a 2 year warranty. Tim refused to honor the factory parts warranty despite the manufacturer requiring it. I went to another shop who honored the warranty. They indicated the parts were installed improperly and that why it failed and began leaking. These people do not take care of their customers and will not warranty your parts after they install them. I wouldn't encourage my worst enemy to do business with these thieves. DO NOT GO HERE! read more

Worst dealership on the planet. They mark the motorcycles up by adding set up fees but don't do anything with the bike. Owner MAURICE SLAUGHTER has service/annual lights cleared so maintenance/failed components fall on the customer (that is completely shady). Penny pinching in that manner is unprofessional and down right wrong. Once they sell the shitty bike, 9 times out of 10 you bought a bike with a dead battery. No battery on the floor or in the warehouse is maintained. Stay away from these Pirates! read more

Between Bingo in bikes and Paris handling parts & accessories you got some of the most knowledgable people in the industry along with the nicest. Here is what I like the most about this shop: Its not just Harleys. They have Buell, Yamaha, BMW and Ducati as well. A lot of places are either all Jap bikes, Euros or all Harleys and with that you get a certain sense of arrogance for the respective brand(s). You don't get that here. Everyone who works here is an enthusiast which is incredibly refreshing. Don't agree? Head over to Cycles USA and see how amazing (and I mean that sarcastically) they are. I've had multiple bikes but I bought my first, a Buell XB Lightning, from Battley and the experience was great. They were very attentive to putting me on a suitable bike for a beginner and not just what was cool. Even my later later bikes, which I hadn't purchased there, have always received great care and product/accessory support. Talking with one of their sales guys (huge asian dude, can't remember his name) they were more than willing to let me take out the new Buell supersport. A lot of places don't allow tests on sport bikes for insurance reason, and maybe its cause Buell is really pushing this new model, but I didn't even get a flinch when I asked for a test ride. Bonus. Maybe they were nice to me because the second my father or I walked in the store they new money was gonna be spent, but whatever, good service was still always received. I'll start off by saying these guys are great to buy a bike from. The sales team are really helpful and welcoming. I had a few problems with the service department though before and was a bit worried about taking my bike to them. BUT have to say that I am so happy I did!!!!!!! It seems they have a new service manager running the department. So I would like to list off a few things if you are thinking of servicing your bike here. Ask for (Conway) this young man is the service manager. What a great guy I had a list of problems with my bike. He was on the ball with everything, very polite! Extremely knowledgeable and answered any question I had. My bike was not running very well. The service department got right on the job and letting me know the problems. And what they will be doing and let me know what was under warranty at the same time. They we're fast about fixing the bike and also let me know I had some upgrades for the computer system. I can't say enough good things about the service I got this time. Looks like there is a new team dealing with customers at the service department. They worked with me in every aspect and I will absolutely be taking my bike back there for future business. There are some bad reviews on here about the service department and I was also one of them. But be rest-assured they have a new team of guys it seems. You will not be disappointed in them at all if you go back, in fact I strongly recommend you go back to Battly I promise you, that you will be walking out of the service department with a smile and feel like you got you're money's worth. and for the new customers you will be having a great time from buying you're brand new bike to having it worked on when it needs a service. So ask for "CONWAY" when getting a service. And this is for Battley. Thank you very much for everything you did for me. And fixing my bike! It is running great as if it just came out the box. My wife and I have been going to Battley for over ten years, bought two new bikes there (2009 Ducati Monster and 2015 BMW R nineT) and had them do countless service jobs of all types on all of our bikes (2004 Triumph Thruxton and 2007 Ducati GT1000, plus the ones bought there), and they are, without a doubt, the best we've both ever encountered. They're nice, do what they say they will do, charge why they say they will, don't pressure in sales or service and they'll do the right thing. All of the people we've dealt with there over the years (Sam, Todd, Andy, Chris, Tom, Ramon, Conor, Ron, Paris, etc.) are friendly, low pressure, honest and know their stuff. Let me put it this way, there is a large, well known (but shall be unnamed) Ducati dealership 1 mile from our house, yet we drive 40 miles one way to go to Battley every time. Great place. The Sales person upstairs was very helpful, and she even price matched against a Harley dealer in the Midwest that had the jacket for 10-15% cheaper. Also stopped by the Ducati shop downstairs to buy D3O pad inserts for my Harley Jacket, and same experience....great service by the sales person downstairs, and he also price matched the elbow and shoulder pads against Revzilla or some other reputable provider. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT - THE BIG LIE on their website. I was shopping for a new 2020 Touring bike. I found one on their new inventory section. I select "GET A QUOTE" and fill out the contact information. The result of providing all this information. I don't receive a quote by email or by phone. I finally talk to a salesman, "John". He tells me the dealership policy is to not provide a quote over the phone or by email. I ask why do you bait people in with false information? He repeats the dealership policy as stated above. Based on the dishonesty and unethical business practices I would rather pay a little more at another dealership for truthfulness up front. read more
