I absolutely LOVE District H distinctly for the market. I haven't tried the number of eateries in there. The stars are the premade meals that are available every single day that the market is open. They also have a vast selection of Wine and Soju, Instant noodles and Pho and even a fresh section. They are always ready to assist in any way possible. They can predict what you're looking for before you find it. I just love how it's never cold inside too. No matter how many times the automatic doors open it can and will feel inviting. I love that there is an Asian market in SLU and that it stocks a decent variety of sauces, condiments, ramen, and snacks. Prices are a bit on the high side, but expected for a boutique grocery store. The produce isn't super fresh; it's pretty hit or miss. The produce isn't very unique though, so I just walk across the street to Whole Foods to buy whatever I don't buy here. I've bought the fried chicken a few times and the flavor is good. The chicken pieces that they use are kind of odd though. It's not just thighs, legs, and wings. District H is to H Mart as Kai Market is to Uwajimaya... the upscale, higher-priced SLU boutique version of the store. But hey, if you live or work in SLU and can't easily get over to the ID or U-district, this is a viable option for getting some Asian grocery essentials and/or picking up a quick lunch. Lunch options include a grab-and-go cold case and hot case at the store entrance, which have their own dedicated register right at the door to make things fast, which is nice. Bowls (including poke and chirashi bowls) range from $8-11, although they looked a little on the skimpy side, maybe only 2/3 full. There's also a food court serving up grilled meat, dumplings and kimbap. You use screens to place your order and pick up your food downstairs, next to the Tous les Jours bakery. Tous les Jours is much like 85 Degrees - some items like bread loaves or pastries are prebagged to grab-and-go, but most are in cases. You pick up a tray and tongs and work your way around, grabbing your selections and taking them to the front to pay. By the registers, there's a hot case with a few savory items like croquettes. There's also a cold case with macarons, cake slices, and very cute whole cakes. Individual pastries range from $2-5; I tried a cocoa hazelnut croissant ($3.50) that was pretty fresh, flaky, and had a nice presentation with chopped cocoa nibs sprinkled on top. The grocery part of the store is bigger than Kai Market and has a better selection overall. It has a smallish produce section, some fresh packaged meat and fish, and a pretty large frozen section with meat, fish, rice cakes and noodles, convenience foods like dumplings and meals, and frozen desserts and ice cream. There's also a selection of ramen packets, sauces, cooking ingredients, chips, cookies and candy (although the snack selection is surprisingly small, since I would think that's what a lot of people are here for). The layout and size is very similar to the H Mart in the U-district. The store is new, and as others noted, they're still working out the grand-opening growing pains. But the employees seem friendly and chatty, and they were busy restocking the shelves for the lunch rush, so everything seems fresh and good-quality. Overall, I'm happy to see this new addition to the lunch lineup in SLU! read more

Went twice, first time - I was ecstatic! Delicious fast food! Kimbop, dumplings, dumplings, dumplings, teokkboke, however that's is spelt & pastries, oh my! All the glory. Why the three stars? The HOURS. Do note, hot food stations are only open, 11am-2pm & 3pm-5pm. So, only during those times do they offer the freshly prepared items. Such a bummer to roll up there 6:00 and have some hot tray pre-packaged leftovers available... Which were bad, ate some bits and left the whole package. Makes one wish for a 7-11 in Hawaii, that stuff is delicious, this was meh. The grocery market however is great in it's selections of sauces, snacks, frozen dumplings. Mangosteens! Papaya's! They have all the delicious things without having to travel to Lynnwood or uwajimaya. It was really sad not to get the hot, freshly prepared foods. So do note the times since they are not posted anywhere online. 5pm is super early, I hope they extend this to all day during their open hours. read more

Grab and go Korean meals and basic staples. I can see how this place is a win for the downtown/Amazon workers within walking distance for a quick meal. I wouldn't recommend, however, going out of your way to this space due to the supreme lack of parking and higher prices of packaged foods. When you first enter you're immediately submit to the pre-packaged snacks and meals. While it was VERY tempting to go to town on all those, I took a look at the prices for such simple staples and promptly put it back. There was a surprisingly good amount of packaged fresh veggies and kimchi but again at a higher price than going to the regular H-mart. The food stalls were closed when we went, however, nothing really stood out to me. Fun to visit, but probably not the most economical when it comes to getting groceries. read more

The korean male cashier here is super super petty over someone taking napkins, forks and chopsticks. Like I'm spending $50-60 here each week (sometimes more) and he gets very peeved about me taking literally a few more napkins to dine in. The food is also not that great either - its okay but I feel like some of what they leave out may be several days old or leftovers (it's never tasted fresh) yet still rather expensive. There is Uwajimaya and the food there is definitely quality. I won't be back here again - I can't support a business run by rude people (As a Korean American myself, I feel like Koreans could do better but I'm also not surprised when treated in a rude and selfish way by Koreans). District H itself is an Asian (Korean céntric) supermarket with food options attached that you can order at a central kiosk. There's lots of soju and other Korean snack options! They themselves also have their own hot food section. I got a kalbi beef bowl and a Korean sweet pancake. The pancake tasted interesting, just not really my style but I liked the texture. The kalbi beef tasted good but I felt it was a little bit small in terms of the price. Overall I'd definitely give this place a go! First of all, this place is so busy! It's so much controlled chaos with so many moving parts that somehow are so seamless. The layout of the store with the various food stations is something to get used to but they make use of every square inch of space. The feng shui could be better but they work with it well. I came during the Friday lunch rush and it was packed with mainly tech workers grabbing their lunch as well. Key point is you must order from the kiosks if you want one of the menu items that are not ready made. The entrance has the usual donburi type bowls and drinks. The ordering system is very straight forward and easy to use. Once you place your order you get a ticket with your number. Whichever station you ordered from, each has a designated side for order pickups. I literally waited just 5 minutes for my bibimbab even though it was peak lunch rush. Although all the ingredients themselves are premade, each individual ingredient was delicious by itself and in the combined bowl. The rice was warm and fluffy. The pork was nicely flavored and provided a nice chew. The bracken and all the other greens lightened the dish and made me feel like I made a healthy choice The spicy sauce that gets mixed in was not too salty and really rounded out all the flavors. My one bibimbab was roughly $12 and left me full. I ate every last bit and left me feeling very satisfied. I will definitely be coming back for lunch even though it's a 10 minute walk from my workplace. read more

I used to go bellevue location so I tried most of them in grab n go section. Short ribs,bulgogi,unagi,salmon,spicy chicken, spicy pork,orange chicken,Jobchae,seafood pancake,popcorn chicken,shrimp tempra,fried potato,spicy rice cake,fish cake soup,miso soup and poke bowls. This place is good and convenient to grab Asian Food items from when you're missing a couple of things in your kitchen. My favorite part about going here is getting fried chicken from bbq chicken while I shop. Although they have ready made buckets at the front of the store, I like to order it fresh from the counter and wait for it while I shop. The fresh chicken is one of the best Korean Fried Chicken I've had in Seattle and I would definitely recommend you to try it. I have some nitpicks but I'm not going to dock any stars because I think the pandemic has probably been a challenge for their business, and they've supplied me with a lot of meals, so I'll cut them a break. Pros: * Convenient, fairly priced mostly-korean meals and sides you can pick up for lunch/dinner * Okay grocery selection, good if you're looking for Asian-specific oils, snacks, or spices * Staff is generally nice * Tou les jours bakery inside is great for a slice of cake or loaf of bread (although if you're used to high-fiber, grainy breads you'll be out of luck) * They had to roll back some of the fresh on-demand cooking they were doing during the pandemic but they do have kitchens to make fresh food, you can watch your galbi get prepared Cons: * Produce is extremely hit or miss. The stuff in the refrigerated section is mostly good but the fruit, avocados, etc. are mostly okay-to-poor with some exceptions. Example: I got moldy blueberries there the other day. I looked at the blueberries last visit and they looked wrinkly and sad. Apples etc. are cheap but often bruised/old looking. I think they should raise prices and raise quality. * Cooked packaged meals vary. Most of the hot dishes are decent but some of the sides are not great (in my opinion). Still, glad to have some cheaper food in the neighborhood * This is not a full-fledged H-Mart or Whole Foods. There isn't a meat counter, no cereal, etc. It's got some cool stuff to supplement your groceries with but certain things you'll need to look elsewhere. I think they've finally started consistently stocking alt-milk which is nice. Overall, good place to have in the neighborhood, with a few very noticeable flaws -- but I forgive them as the pandemic has surely made it challenging to operate a business. Wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy after being profiled by the security guard. Came in at 9:10PM to get drinks for my dinner. Security guard promptly comes over and tells myself and my partner that we need to "sprint through the store" because they're closing. Ok.... He then proceeds to stand 2 feet away from me - a Black woman - but not my partner - an East Asian man. He continues to follow me while I pick up snacks, throughout the store. Once I hand over my selections to my partner, he backs off and watches from much further away. Once I pick up another item, though, he's back again. I ended up crying in the aisle because he was not even hiding the fact that he was following me. I am only giving this experience 2 stars because I got food poisoning from the Pork Belly Don bowl. I was very excited for this place to open, and I went here for lunch. The pork belly down bowl was a grab-and-go item. It was pork belly and okra over white rice. The portion size was good for lunch, and the dish was very flavorful. About 30 minutes after I finished the bowl, I felt sick to my stomach. I felt ill for the rest of the day, well into the night, and the next day. Pretty happy with the options here. I had to be mindful of the different items I put in my cart. Some items were reasonably priced while others were very expensive. Overall, the place is very clean and the staff is super sweet. I wish there were more food stations! Also, I was trying to find the Bim Bim Bop hours online, but couldn't really find much. I tried to order sushi from the bar station, but I was told sushi closes at 5:30, after being told it was open until 7. Then, I tried to order the chicken, but I was told I had to go up and grab the chicken that had been sitting out - and they didn't have the flavor I wanted. My review of the bar: it would be nice to have hours posted that were honored. Hours aren't posted and the bar doesn't stay open even when told it is. This is kind of a weird review but I crashed my line scooter a couple of blocks away from this place on my way home. I scraped up my knee and my hand pretty badly and realized I couldn't just walk the rest of the way home without grabbing a bandaid or wound wipe. Food is fresh and reasonably tasty for the price, and there are enough variations so you would not get bored too quickly. Can't comment on the grocery part because I've never been here with the intent to shop, but I love that this now exists in SLU because of the little restaurants they have inside as well as the Korean bakery! It's hard to find good Asian food in the area, especially at an affordable/inexpensive price. I've been here a few times already on my lunch break just to order this grilled whole squid with kimchi fried rice. They make ordering super simple and streamlined through a self-service machine. You even make your payment there and all you have to do is hold onto your receipt and pick up your food at the respective counter (whichever restaurant you ordered from). I have to give them props because when they first opened it was honestly a mess. The wait was insane for the food and orders kept getting mixed up/lost because the ticket printing machine where the kitchen gets the orders was broken. The second time I went none of this happened and I got my food maybe within 10 minutes of ordering. Squid is always very juicy and tender. Kimchi fried rice could be spicier but not shabby. I just really like the setup for "fast" food here because you are able to order from these different restaurants as well as purchase sushi/sashimi/korean dumplings that are ready to eat if you want more food/something a little different. You can also choose from an assortment of drinks in the fridge to accompany your meal. The one thing they're missing is a Korean tofu soup concept. Hope they consider bringing this to District H because it would be fantastic to have as we welcome the Seattle winter. read more
