Once I informed the dental hygienist, Amanda that I could pass out I was amazed at the extra steps that they took to ensure for both my safety and comfort. Shannon, who was shadowing for the day, and Amanda both did a fantastic job of keeping me talking and making sure that I was feeling ok. Dr.So and Amanda did an amazing job on my filling, it is not noticeable at all and has not changed my bite or smile. I also needed to get part of my permanent retainer fixed and I appreciated that Dr.So and the receptionists let me know that it would likely be cheaper to get it done at my orthodontist's. I think it says a lot about the quality of healthcare professionals when a healthcare office lets you know that there might be cheaper alternatives for the same work! In the end, I decided to get my retainer fixed by Dr.So and Amanda instead of traveling to get it fixed at my orthodontist's office. My retainer has never felt so unnoticeable, once again I really cannot say how amazing the work they did for me was!

I made an appointment for my kids to be seen at Clark, Dean, & Associates. The employee I spoke with over the phone when making the appointment inquired about what kind of insurance we had, to which I replied that we were covered by my husband's federal employee insurance. She told me that they accepted government plans, made the appointment, and that was that. When we went for the appointment, the staff were all friendly. We had a short wait before we were brought back. The staff took x-rays of my kids' teeth, the dental hygienist gave them a 5-10 minute cleaning, and the dentist looked over my kids' teeth and x-rays. We were in the office for approximately 1 hour. When we were checking out, the employee said that she did not know our specific insurance coverages, but that she did not think we would have any costs to worry about. Fast forward to the following Monday- I receive a call from the office to inform me that this office does not accept our insurance and we now have a $390 bill for services rendered. Wow! When my husband went to their office to get a break down of what in the world they did that constituted a $400 bill ($45/child was strictly bitewings?!?!?), they informed him that it was typically their practice to check insurance coverages, but could offer no explanation of why this was not done for us. Absolutely unacceptable. We are fortunate that we are able to pay this very unexpected bill (all services would have been covered 100% with an in network provider). The clinic did offer a measly 10% cash discount, but I would have elected to find an in network dentist had I been informed that this office was not covered by our insurance. Shame on me, and shame on this office for not verifying benefits for their customers.

The head lady that works on the nonverbal children said that that's what they do and the children get used to it. If I didn't like it I could go back up north where I came from. I'm not going to allow them to traumatize my son when things have been a certain way the entire time he's been going to a dentist. I'm not the parent that can just sit there while my child is screaming and having a complete breakdown as they strap and hold him down. Anyone with a brain would know that bad things can happen when the child is jerking, screaming, and freaking out as they are working on their teeth. Not to mention make terrified to ever go back to any dentist again. I do NOT recommend anyone with children that are nonverbal go there. Look in surrounding areas, because there's some really incredible dentistry doctors that are patient, understanding, and respectable to the child(ren) and parents. Dr. Kugar's practice feels so much more personal--she actually knows the names of my 2 kids. We've already seen her for 2 cleanings and a cavity fill, which was a first for us. She was so gentle, kind and warm. My kids had no hesitation having her inspect their teeth and I felt 100% confident in her recommendations for dental care. The reception area is really cute, with a little house inside with a play kitchen. In the patient area she has a great set up that offers a tad more privacy compared to the more open-concept areas, which I REALLY appreciate. All in all, we LOVE it. I have referred Annette Farthing to my family and to my friends who still have children going there. TODAY they showed they have no loyalty to their families. My sister took my daughter there today for me and they said the insurance was not active. I have no idea why, my niece who was there as well is on the same insurance and yet she was active. I spoke to office manager and there was NO WAY they were going to help me out. I must pay $240 for my child to have teeth cleaned. They wouldn't bill me, no discount, no anything. I went there after work and wanted to speak to the dentist and she would not see me. The office lady again repeated herself and said they have "too many turn overs" to get payment later. Well I'm not a turn over when my oldest child is 25 and youngest 14 and we've been there twice a year for many many years. It's super sad that loyalty or compassion doesn't exist here. It was always a anxiety filled and overall terrible process going here. I always had some problems with my teeth growing up; like one of them never growing in and this place just helped fuel my fear of the dentist. I'm 20 now and still haven't seen a dentist since I was 17 because Annette scarred me. I'm glad she's retiring; hopefully it'll be better with Papineau in charge and it won't leave a bunch of children scared of the dentist.
