We came here as a group of 5 after hiking nearby in the bear mountain area. Service was good and friendly, our waiter recommended great beers for my friends and helped me connect my phone to wifi. We ordered the mushroom burger and fish tacos along with all of their dips and fries to share. Fries were perfect - crispy, soft, and seasoned properly. I loved all the dips but the truffle aioli was my absolute favorite. Mushroom burger was made very well, full of mushrooms and the patty was juicy and cheese was gooey. I do wish there was slightly more seasoning on it; perhaps some more salt. The fish tacos were delicious, there was a lot of slaw but I appreciated it. I do think that while the fish was fried perfectly, I would have liked a larger piece of fish. The slaw to fish ratio was slightly off. The corn that came on the side w the fish tacos was amazing and fresh and a great idea. I think it can even be dressed up and presented as an elote option. Overall we really enjoyed our meal here. We drove up from NJ to check this place out. The beer was great, which is the most important part, but the experience itself was not great. The setup is a bit confusing, inside there is a full bar to the left and the brewery to the right. There were also two separate outdoor courtyards in the back that did not connect. One door was locked from the outside for most of our visit so we had to walk around the building multiple times, not sure why it was locked. The QR code is worthless. A staff member told me that management does not update the draft list and it is frustrating to them because people ask for beers they don't have. Also, I wish I took a picture, but behind the bar, there were about seven "flagship" beers being advertised with names and drawings and after talking to the bartender I found out only 3-4 were actually available. The Kolsch and IPA my wife ordered were both not available... nor were about 3 of their 10 taps, which were totally different beers. Why isn't the beer list updated at a brewery? Stopped here on my way home from Jersey because of its proximity to the Cuomo bridge and was really impressed by the food AND the beer. Most of the brews here are hop forward but they did have a nice oatmeal stout and Pilsner. Brews have a nice softness to them and low bitterness. Setup is more of a brew pub than a brewery. I was under the impression that the burger loft was spear but it didn't seem that way. Food was really good for "pub" style. I had the avocado burger and it was as good as any I've ever had. Perfect amount of grease without being saturated and gross. I'm not a huge french fry fan in general but their's were top tier. Had them with the truffle aioli and it was delicious! Service was average although I had just come from the jersey shore where every place had amazing service. They had hosts but they had us seat ourselves (it was quiet when we were there). Waiter didn't really know much about the beers and his timing to check on things was a little off. Bus crew were timely with clearing the table. Overall, it was a great experience and I will definitely stop in again if I'm ever crossing the Hudson at that latitude in the future. read more

We stopped for an outdoor dinner and we were very happy we did. We had the Mushroom burger and the eggplant burger. My eggplant burger was fantastic! I ate every single bit. The mushroom burger was well seasoned, well cooked and tasty. The fries were thin and crispy. Definitely a delicious meal. We also had a couple of flights of beer. I like to try different types at all the local breweries. Beer was delicious and varied. Outdoor space was good - large picnic tables under an awning. Who doesn't love a local brewery? What made this visit even better was the friendly and knowledgeable staff (2 young men whose names I did not get) who were ready, willing and able to discuss beer, not just District 96's but what's happening in the beer scene in general. Had the opportunity to sip a couple of their offerings and try a couple of other samples. Quick with our drinks but took 40+ minutes for our burgers!!! For burgers!! The server did say they were backed up in the kitchen but it really shouldn't take that long to grill burgers. my fiancè had been wanting to try this brewery out so we came on a Saturday afternoon. We sat at the bar, and genuinely enjoyed the whole experience. Due to Covid, the tables & chairs were spaced but all super comfortable and plenty of seating. We had a few beers and shared a flight. All the beers were quality craft brews with really great flavor profiles. It is also attached to the Burger Loft so you're able to order food, and vice versa on their side. We got the fries with truffle aoil and chili mayo.. holy yum! They were the perfect snack during our tastings. The staff was friendly and always willing to suggest beers to meet what you were looking for. I tried sending the business an email but it was sent back undeliverable. Hey folks! Long time patron , I love love love district 96and buger loft, the fries are the best!!! We had an unfortunate experience today. I totally understand the understaffing crisis but I feel like we were just plain ignored today and when we asked the 3 ladies standing at the front desk casually chatting if we could get another round , we were met with an overworked waitress explaining to us that they need people at the desk to answer phones more than they need someone to help the physical people in the brewery and she's the only one working the tables for both sides . I upsell your brewery/burger spot to all of my friends and I brought my brother and his girlfriend out today for the first time and it was awful. The waitress had no idea what beer was, she said a saison and a kolsh were basically the same beer. That's a lack of training and just a basic knowledge of beer would be cool. Besides this, the menu apparently doesn't matter, you were out of most of the beers we tried ordering, not everyone wants a 8-10% beer, we drove 2 hours to get here and now we have to drive 2 hours back, a variety of 5-6% would be nice. This is when we ran into the kolsch/saison issue. I guess I'm just disappointed and embarrassed that I spoke so highly and we got so little. well, i'll tell you what... saturday, 230pm 4/17/21. we had tried to make a reservation for 8 people & were told they don't accept reservations but to call an hour before hand and they'll save a spot for us. okay, sure that works. first 2 guest in our party arrive, are seated & ordered their beers. half hour later the next 3 guest arrive, the first 2 guest are just served their beers. 3 new guest are greeted and told the kitchen is under staffed & they have to close it till 5pm so we can't order food. weird, okay. can we grab drinks ? 3 of us order drinks. server comes back & said since 2 people in the party were here before we decided to close the kitchen, we can still order food. we ask for 2 orders of fries & an order of wings while we wait for the last 3. the last 3 come within 10 minutes - we explain the kitchen situation to them & everyone quickly decides what to order for food. 1 of them orders a beer. 20 minutes later the server comes back with 5 beers. we only ordered 2 beers and 1 cocktail. he takes our food order for the whole table, wrote all of it down. i was asked if i wanted food and i said no thank you, just the cocktail i had ordered. the cocktail eventually shows up with the fries and wings. both food items were good ! our server goes up to 1 half of our table and says his shift is over but some other guy was taking over. okay, thanks. beer glasses empty & no servers are in site at any of the outside tables. it's 440 and everyone is questioning where a server is and where the food is ... one of our guest got up and found an employee. to which we were told our food order was GOING IN at 5pm. that's funny - we had been told otherwise. she asked to speak to a manger & the manager refused to come out and talk to her. after a few minutes the employee she had spoken to comes back and says "we're just comping your check" so ! we should of paid for 5 beers, 1 cocktail, 2 orders of fries & 1 order of wings. we are gracious they took care of it, reasonably so. but, the manager can't even show face ? no one said sorry ? no one explained things as they were happening ? byeeeeeee. read more

Popped in here to try some brews and eats. Had four flights which was FARRRR too much beer but hey, we drank it! I only liked the sour, the rest of the beers were not to my liking, though everyone else enjoyed them. I wanted the tuna burger but they were out. Opted for the eggplant and it was sloppy but might delicious. AMPLE amount of fries and you gotta get the dipping sauces too! I had the aioli and the horseradish Dijon.. FABULOUS i tell ya! Not really impressed and probably won't rush back. The place is nice and the beer is decent but the service is awful . Not very friendly. I wasn't feeling well and got a little confused and thought I had ordered just a cheese, tomato and avocado sandwich . I didn't realize it was a burger, maybe if the cranky bartender would have asked how I wanted it cooked then I would have realized it said "burger" at the top. So I apologized and explained what had happened and ordered something else. This was my first time at District 96. The last time I was there was when it was just Burger Loft. We still ordered food from Burger Loft, but it was nice to get to sit on the new side. The bar itself was nice. They brew their own beers so they had a bunch of taps coming out of the wall which was cool. They also had the vats that they brew the beer in inside of the bar in the back. It's pretty cool to see. They were huge. For food I got the butterfly burger drop the bun. the burger was delicious. Thin patties so they cook them all well done, which isn't my preference, but when they're that thin you sort of have to cook them all the way through. When you drop the bun it comes with a salad which was good, but it could've definitely used more tomatoes or something besides the lettuce. There were I think two pieces of a chopped tomato and maybe 3 pieces of a cucumber. I also tried their drink that had gin, strawberry, and basil in it. Can't remember the name, but it was very tasty though not sure it had too much alcohol. Got the wings too and the flavor was great, but they were pretty small and didn't have too much meat on them. Prices were very reasonable though which was good. Sometimes it's just so expensive to eat out. I would definitely recommend trying this place. read more

Beer is discounted for happy hour, which is a bonus. They serve their own craft beer as well as other beer and hard cider from other selected local and craft breweries. I enjoyed the beers that I tried. 64 ounce growler fills are on the expensive side at $18 to $22, which brought my review down to four stars. I've been here twice and had very different experiences. I came once on a Friday around 530 and it was pretty empty and we got great service. We came again more recently on a Wednesday around 6 and it was packed! Nowhere to park and 45 min wait. This night the service was not as good and I was disappointed since I had told my friends about how great it was after I came the first time. Either way, the food is good and so is the beer. Nothing like eating seared tuna on a hamburger bun with a ginger-lemon soy mayo. Delicious and filling. A side of fries is good for two and the beer is what you should be there for.
