The first studio we went to my daughter wouldn't even walk in. I did some online research and thought Zemskov Dance Academy might work. I was worried that the term "academy" meant competition and aggressive teaching but that is not the case! They don't have the same pink walls and chandeliers where my daughter first started but they have the same, caring teachers and amazing studio manager (Christen). My daughter thought that it was funny to have a "boy teacher," but she loves him, he's wonderful with the kids, and it's no-pressure dancing. He's not mean in any way. My daughter is 6 now, just had her first recital with Zemskov- I didn't get to watch because I was backstage with my timid gal - but I heard it was amazing! And I can't wait to watch the whole show on video with my daughter. My daughter is very shy and can get overwhelmed easy, and Christen is so patient and caring with her. She always does what's best for my girl. It's not a competitive dance studio which I love- the students are there for the love of dance, and that's the way it should be (especially for the young ones). Don't get me wrong - just because it's not competitive doesn't mean it's not real dance or real ballet. The teachers are knowledgeable in their craft and do so with passion. I highly recommend Zemskov Dance Academy. You can do a free trial before signing up. The most important thing is that my daughter loves it and that they treat her right. As long as those two are in place, we will keep going!

We are now heading…read moreinto our 4th season in a few more month and 3 recitals later we couldn't be more happy with this studio. The atmosphere is so positive and inclusive. This studio takes pride in their students' dance education and well being. Recently we had a mom who would come into the studio throw shoes at her child insult her, use profanity and behaved absolutely DISGUSTING towards her child. It got to the point where my child and others were SCARED of this other mom. The studio was BEYOND accommodating to the point I got irritated, but they wanted to help her daughter grow and develop with her love for dance. After many chances and adjusted protocols for this mom, in efforts to keep her daughter at the studio, because her daughter was a sweet little girl. The mom was RELENTLESS and her ABUSE continued!!!!! Everything came to a blow on March 23rd when a group of moms including myself witnessed this mom smacking her kid around in her car of the studio parking lot. After a year of this mom's psychosis she was FINALLY DISMISSED from the studio a few days before our annual recital, because some moms reported her behavior to the police, we were THAT concerned and STILL IS for her child! She has called multiple teachers and made numerous threats and is on a rampage because she was dismissed. She even showed up for classes after making threats. Does that sound like someone sane? This is AN amazing studio with AMAZING teacher with the best atmosphere. We are seriously a little dance family and we love it here. If you are considering dance for your littles please go check it out for yourself and YOU be the judge! You will LOVE it here too!!! :)

His illustrious ballet career spans decades, and it shows in his dance skill, talent and teaching style. It is completely worth the 8+ hour round trip (we have done this one day trip many times). The Kwaks are top notch dancers and teachers who really know how to produce amazing results. My daughter usually takes a private lesson and then evening classes when we drive out. Mr. Kwak helped encourage my daughter after she had a horrible summer intensive experience at a top ballet school out of state. He truly believes in his students and wants to see them progress to the best of their abilities. My daughter has also taken their summer intensive. She grew exponentially in technique and confidence in two weeks. Their prices are extremely reasonable (maybe a bit low-- but don't tell them I said this ) especially for the quality received, and we just love them. Let me say that this is a serious ballet studio. In the world of ballet, if you don't get corrections, it means you aren't learning anything and that the teachers don't really care about your progression. The corrections Mr. Kwak gives my daughter are detailed, logical and gentle. Ms. Yoomi does tend to be very strict, but this is because she loves her students and cares that they learn. If anyone takes the time to get to know this couple, they will see how much they care for their students. If you want for you or your child to only have fun and be told everything is right, this is not the place for you. If you want to learn, grow and progress in this artform, this is an amazing place to do so.
