Dissolve's lobby, decorated by salt lamps. Very fitting!
    Heather Kat A.

This is a brand new business, and is the first float spa in the Harrisburg area. The closest one to Harrisburg for a long time was Hagerstown, MD, and while I badly wanted to give it a try, the distance was prohibitive. When I heard Dissolve was opening in Camp Hill, I couldn't wait! I found a Groupon deal, and booked an appointment for their 4th day open...on 5/20/16, I went to my first ever float. I called Dissolve ahead of time, to see if they had a fridge...I had a party I had to go to (5/20/16 I was celebrating a personal milestone), but didn't want to cancel my appointment due to the food I had to pick up. They don't have a fridge, but were able to help me out. This is above and beyond the expectation of customer service...so even before I walked in the door, I was impressed by this new place. From the road, this building is very plain and not really welcoming. I am guessing that is something on their "to do" list. When you walk in the door, that impression completely changes. The lobby area has glowing salt lamps, a clean, spa like feel, and immediately creates a feeling of peace. My float experience: I was shown into a bright clean private room with a shower (with shampoo/conditioner and shower gel on the wall), and the big float pod. A thick, plush robe was hanging up on the door, I was given towels, a set of earplugs, a spray bottle of fresh water, a small pool noodle to use behind the neck for support if needed, and instructions. I was told to lock the door from the inside, put in the earplugs (they are easier to put in while your ears are dry) get a shower and wash my hair. Be CAREFUL when leaving the shower, as the floor is slick. After my shower, I climbed into the float pod...a roomy "tub" with a lid, filled with body temp (or maybe a little warmer?) water HIGHLY salinated with Epsom Salts. The pod has a blue light inside, the lid can be closed or left open, and there was meditative music playing, which I could turn off if I chose. If someone chooses, they can wear a suit to float, but most just go naked. (The room is totally private, and locked from the inside..so why not?) I sat in the tub and then laid down...and floating was immediate. There was NO effort involved...just put the small pool noodle behind my neck, pulled the lid down and turned off the light (my choice). At first the light from the outside room was seen around the gap between lid and tub. The outer room apparently had lights on a motion sensor though...so when I opened my eyes a few minutes later, it was totally dark..but I could reach up and lift the lid, and the lights came on immediately, so it was not as anxiety causing as I expected. I allowed myself to float, and was amazed at how it felt. Unlike floating in a pool, there was no effort or thought involved in floating in this water due to the salt. I was completely held up, and there was no pressure on my joints. I had pain relief for the first time in a long time, especially in my back. When I noticed muscle tension, it was because I was still actively tensing those muscles, not trusting the water. When I was able to let go, it was soothing. I left the music on. With earplugs in, it was muffled but still relaxing, similar to the music I'd hear while receiving a massage. Being without distractions is a really unusual experience for me. I wasn't connected to my phone, my email, my watch...I was just in a comfortable water, not too hot or cold, weightless and relaxed. When the 60 minutes were over, the pod played a recorded voice letting me know my time was over. I got up and showered, dressed and felt good. Lessons learned: I have two more sessions to go. Next time I will arrive 20 minutes before my float time, and leave plenty of time afterwards to enjoy the hot tea Dissolve offers post-session. I will bring my own shampoo/conditioner and shower gel (just because I prefer my own products..but the stuff provided was fine.) I made the mistake of having plans right after my float, so I wasn't able to enjoy the relaxed feeling..I had to dress and rush out. Staff was warm, welcoming and so happy with their new business. I look forward to going back and continuing to work on meditating, and being able to disconnect from my fast paced world for a little while. My back and neck anxiously await the next time I could be weightless and pressure free. This is a unique addition to our area, and I'll be back.

I filled out a form explaining the results I was hoping for. As I was filling out the form, a gentleman came out after his float and, when his wife asked him if it helped his chronic back pain, he told her he wasn't feeling any pain at all! He looked stunned. Then he asked if he could come every week! One of the owners took me into a room with a nice stand up shower and a big pod filled with skin-temperature water filled with epsom salt. She explained how everything worked and left. Once I showered with their unscented shampoo and body wash, I climbed into the pod, put in the provided ear plugs and closed the door of the hatch. I floated for one hour in the dark (my preference because you can leave the lights on if you want) to experience sensory deprivation. When the hour was over, the lights in the pod came on and a soft voice on an intercom in the pod told me my hour was completed. I got a discount for being a first time customer and went home feeling relaxed. That night, I slept better than I have since having kids!! And I was super calm for almost two weeks after my float. For someone with anxiety, it was like a vacation from my body and brain!

When I recently went, brought my partner and treated him to his first float session ever! I used the gravity massage chair while waiting; it tilts back and is full body adjustable- probably one of the best massage chairs I've ever experienced. Did ~13min massage with the lights off and door shut, so relaxing. Eric kindly checked and allowed me to slip in a quick cold plunge session as I was on the waitlist (had forgotten to book my sessions further in advance). Especially after a hot shower immediately after, felt great and so relaxed the rest of day and entire next day! (Non-float services are 30% off as an add on if you have the membership) My partner enjoyed his first float experience. We're planning to go back for couples fire & ice (contrast therapy) session and float after. Love: 1. The facility and all equipment looks super modern, clean, and they clean each room between each guest stocking with fresh towels, slippers, you can request a robe. 2. Love that everyone who visits is treated as a guest in a home and they have a policy where they do not try to upsell you anytime during your visit. 3. Enjoyed the genuine convos with the owners- unlike many other small biz owners, they aren't rushing you nor absorbed in their work when you're there- they remain present, attentive, and open to chatting. Would I Recommend? Absolutely, I travel over an hour just to come here & it's well worth it. The float tank, contrast therapy, and gravity massage chair is a must try! Suggestions for Improvement: No complaints here. Perhaps a branded small welcome gift for first time visitors? (It adds a nice touch, helps stay the biz stay top of mind- also more of a marketing thing haha)

I have been a client here for nearly two years and feel the massage therapists working here are…read moreoverall very skilled and professional. You can't go wrong with any of them and they're the real reason to visit this massage studio. The massage rooms and tables are extremely comfortable, the bathrooms are sparkling clean, and the float tanks are a really cool experience as well. There is a beautiful sauna area that's very Instagram worthy. All of the areas where you receive a service feel very serene, spa-like, and upscale. Meredith is a lovely person and makes really good use of aromatherapy and long holds or pauses in her massage that make you feel super relaxed and zen. She is certified in pregnancy massage and does a great job. Marcus has super strong hands, is ideal to see if you're looking for deep tissue massage, and makes good use of hot stones and warm towels. Ben is great as well, did some passive stretching along with the massage for tight areas. Karen seems to intuitively know the perfect amount of pressure to use and does the best head and face massage ever. My only complaint, and it's a minor one, is that the entrance and waiting area you sit in prior to your massage/float doesn't really match the atmosphere of the other rooms. I think it's a little too kitsch and cluttered and reminds me of walking into a small store that feels very casual and doesn't have the ambiance of the massage rooms. Unfortunately not very "Instagram worthy". There's a lot of stuff for sale that isn't directly related to massage or even wellness, such as bohemian style clothing, silver jewelry, wind chimes, etc. The Speakeasy room has relatively uncomfortable seating (there are two firm, backless benches and just two chairs with a low back), more displays of non-massage related things for sale (such as non alcoholic refrigerated drinks, candies, books, artwork, etc.), large displays of business cards and fliers for other local businesses, and dark furniture which just makes the room feel small and cluttered. You sort of feel like you are waiting in a shop rather than being a member at an upscale massage and wellness studio. The self serve tea display is really, really nice but just gets lost in the clutter/decor/fliers. And my only other gripe is that the infrared sauna is preset to a really, really high temperature (maybe higher than spa saunas I have used elsewhere) and I was told it doesn't allow for adjustments. I was excited to use the sauna but couldn't tolerate it more than a few minutes at a time. During my sauna session I simply had to exit the sauna every few minutes to cool off a bit. I realize this is maybe because I am a sauna newbie but I do wish there was an "intro to sauna" setting for those like me to use. In summary: great services, great massage therapists, kitschy entryway/waiting area design which is absolutely not a dealbreaker
