The cocoa in the relaxation room really is some of the best I've ever had. My husband and I both had the Dark Chocolate Spa package with scrub, massage, and facial. The scrub was lack luster and I will not do it again. The dry brushing was less than comprehensive and the scrub itself was hardly exfoliating. I have had better scrubs with a nylon mit in Korean bath houses. Save yourself the mess and do your own in the tub or shower at home. The massage and facial were absolutely worth doing though. Next time we go, we will explore some other service to complete our spa day while keeping with the massage and facial. The shower in my room also dripped the entire time and made it very difficult to relax. Despite the technician acknowledging this, no apology or compensation was attempted. I was rather off put by that. I was very relieved that my facial occurred in a separate room after the scrub and massage were infringed upon by the incessant dripping. read more

I do not recommend this Spa. Whether you are a tourist or local, the front desk will, without exception, let you down. As a long standing member of the Club, I've withdrew my support of this spa. A woman named Rosie at the front desk has topped any other employee in my experience to ruin my loyalty to this establishment. She is unnecessarily rude, condescending and simply went out of her way to inconvenience me. Other than that, high turn over at this spa speaks volumes over the years. I've had several services here- prenatal massage, Swedish massage, facial, & pedicure. I always have fantastic service. I love that you can go to the relaxation/quiet room in your robe and enjoy coffee, tea, hot chocolate, & muffins before and after your treatment, and there's no rush for you to leave. The locker room has large showers, though the locker room itself could be a bit bigger. I wish they did couples massages, but not a deal breaker for me. Firstly, I'll say they lack consideration and basic privacy. Secondly, the scope of practice was lacking. My family went in for two pedicures, my father who is already self conscious about his toes because he has psoriasis(medical diagnosed years ago which cause discoloration and thick nail ridges). Mind you he's had hundreds of other pedicures from other establishments. When they sat down the nail tech caused a very embarrassing and uncalled for scene in front of the whole establishment about his toes. She loudly was stating she couldn't preform his pedicure because he has a fungal infection. He stated to them that he doesn't have a fungal infection it's psoriasis. Also while my mother who's been a nurse for almost 20 years stating "no it's psoriasis". They then asked for a refund since my mother was obviously not going to get a pedicure done after my father had been publicly embarrassed and they stated "normal is a partial since it's less then 24 hours notice but we'll make an exception this time"? As if my parents were out of line for asking for a refund since they were rude. They then stated again in front of the whole establishment that my father seek the help of a podiatrist due to his "fungal infection" and yet again embarrassing him. As someone who went to cosmetology school and is also now a nurse it is not in the scope of practice for a nail tech to diagnose and provide medical advice. The lack of consideration, privacy, compassion were unacceptable and was expecting more professionalism as a business associated with Hershey. read more

This is my 4th time to the Melt Spa. Made an appointment for a mani/pedi before I went on a long weekend. The pedi was rushed - online the pedi is 50 min (including file, cuticle work, exfoliation, massage, polish or buffing). No cuticle work was done and only a little of the "winter heel" was addressed. The paint looks good and a week later there is no chipping. The mani online notes it is 25 min (file, cuticle work, massage, polish or buffing). There was no cuticle work done on my hands. Had I known I would have done a little something to them prior to the appointment. The nail polish was done and needed a repair before leaving the salon. Less than 48 hours after the service the nail polish was chipping. I called to see if anything could be done before I left for a long weekend and was told there was no manager available to speak with on the phone but I'm more than welcome to come in. So I went in to the salon, no manager came to speak with me - there was no technician available to repair the chipping nails. $23 bottle of nail polish was the solution - yes. I had to buy it. I might not be as salty about the $23 polish - it is quick dry however the staff at the spa failed to communicate that this is a 4 step process including their base coat and top coat. Hoping the base and top I have works just as well as the product that goes with the polish. Giving 2 stars because the staff was all friendly and did attempt to handle the situation but I felt like this was something a manager should have handled. The facility is also very clean. read more

This is a not as large or fancy as the Hotel Hershey spa. But you get the same drinks and snacks. There is only one relaxation room and one little locker area. When we went it wasn't busy and this wasn't an issue. I image on a busy day it would be. However a busy day at Hotel Hershey Spa is crowded and cramped too. Parking was a bit confusing and limited. Again luckily it wasn't busy and we could park close. I thought the front desk was great and I had a great time talking with the girl at check out. She was very nice and friendly. My massage was nice. Unfortunately we couldn't get any other services because they said they were booked up. Maybe due to the smaller size they don't have as many openings. The first time I went, I booked a massage that started 15 minutes late and did not extend 15 minutes to make up for the late start. I did say something and was partially refunded. I gave the spa a second chance with a gel manicure. To start, it's an added TWENTY FIVE dollars to remove existing gel. I have never had to pay for gel to be removed at any nail salon or spa I've been to before. The manicurist was extremely rough when removing the pre existing gel and filed so much of my nail off. Two of my nail beds were cut and bleeding. I am a week out and one of the cuts still has a scab. In hind sight I should've spoken to a manger prior to leaving but I needed to get to work and was so upset. I've never experienced a manicure where I was cut and bleeding and would expect a stellar service for 85$. I will never ever go back. You're better off paying a little extra to go to the hotel for 10/10 service. read more

I can't say enough good things about our experience at Melt. I booked my mom and I appointments for her birthday. I had booked the chocolate hands treatment for both of us. When we arrived, they noticed I had acrylic nails on. They asked if I still wanted the treatment and I said that I just wanted the hand treatments without the manicure. They offered me the option to switch to a pedicure, which is what I really wanted but they said there was no availability online. I appreciated their flexibility to get me what I really wanted. With that being said, it was the BEST pedicure I've ever had. My pedicure was done by Jasmine, who also is a massage therapist, and she was so gentle and relaxing. I would request her every time. Bonus: my polish looks great, too! My mom LOVED her chocolate hands treatment and manicure and her hands are so soft and hydrated. My daughter and I opted for the 1/2 day spa experience and we were not disappointed. From the time we checked in, the staff, the atmosphere and the services were outstanding. Upon arrival we were greeted at the front desk and then provided with a tour of the facilities with the concierge. Once we were changed into our luxurious robes in the locker room (which was stocked with every toiletry imaginable), we made ourselves at home in the relaxation room with beverages and snacks. In between our services, we met back there to compare notes. Each of us had a pedicure, facial and massage and neither of us was disappointed. Not impressed. I have been coming to the Spa at the Hotel Hershey for 11 years and have been a member of that spa for a while also. This trip, despite calling about 4-5 weeks in advance, they had no openings. We decided to try the new kid in town MeltSpa. Could have been better. Decorated tastefully, but too scant for my liking. Could have had some more decor and window hangings to cozy it up. By far my biggest complaint is the Relaxation Room. I had a 0% chance of relaxing in that room. I couldn't hear myself think. Several members of a bachelorette party were carrying on at full volume, laughing, bickering and even swearing. There is a joke of a sign saying "Whisper Area", but it's in the same room. I sat here, but in no way felt more relaxed or separated from the others. Several staff members came in to replenish food items; no one corrected the other spa guests. When my service came, it went fine, but my technician never made eye contact with me, *I* had to offer *my* hand to shake it, and she spoke like she had marbles in her mouth. I barely understood her. Bottom line: this is a spa. I am 31 weeks pregnant with a toddler at home. I wanted to go away, forget about everything, and just relax for a massage before life really gets crazy. My daughter booked our services here for my birthday, and although they originally indicated they couldn't fulfill some of her requests, when we arrived they bent over backwards to make sure we were getting the services we really wanted. My daughter had the classic pedicure, and she said it was the best she's ever had (and she is a frequent flyer with pedicures!). She had Jasmine who was really wonderful with her and gave her a top-notch experience. I had the Sweet Hands Dark Chocolate Treatment and let me tell you it was a TREAT! Sally was so good....and the treatment is decadent. I left with one of the best manicures I have EVER had and my hands were nourished and hydrated at the end. Melt Spa is owned by Hershey Company and a nice addition to the Downtown Hershey scene. At first I wasn't sure where to park but there's a large lot behind with designated spots. You can make an appointment online which I love but you can always call in for an appointment if online is not your thing. They offer a lot of what the Hershey spa has in the way of treatments but the prices are less expensive. Then again there's no restaurant or booze or a pool, etc. So I'd say if you're going for a treatment or two this is the place to do it. If you're looking at a day at the spa, Hershey is better for that. With that said, here's my experience. My friend came on a Monday and it was pretty quiet, which I like because I find it hard to relax when I am tripping on others in their robes lol. The lobby is clean and modern with an array of product to purchase after your treatments. To your left looked to be the nail salon area which was bright for its floor to ceiling windows. I like that but I am not sure how others would since you're literally in a robe. That's a matter of personal preference I suppose. We filled out some forms and paid upfront. Gratuity is included which I enjoy. We also were able to use a coupon so the price was not bad at all. My 30 minute reflexology with tip was $55. Sign up for their e mails and you'll get their last minute specials and coupons right in your e mail. Also if you're a member of the country club you'll get additional discounts on the product as well. Once we took care of all of the paperwork we were given a brief tour and set up in the locker room where we got into our robes and sandals and headed to the quiet room to wait to be called for our service. Its a small-ish room so good for maybe 12 people to comfortably relax but I wouldn't want to be in there with 12. They had a couple of trail mixes and coffee, tea, and cocoa. Also there was chocolates, of course. So pretty similar to Hershey except no muffins. Those muffins over there are bomb.com. We were called and taken for our services. My reflexology was great and she even added hot stones which was a nice perk. I felt great after. While I waited for my friend to get done I had a cup of coffee and then I pretty much got dressed and waited for her in the lobby and we then left to go for lunch. So again, a perfect place for a morning massage and mani pedi or something but not a place you could spend all day. I'd definitely go back. read more

Had a 50 minute cocoa scented Swedish massage today. Wonderful and relaxing experience. Customers are well taken care of from the moment they enter. I was checked in quickly and taken back to the ladies locker room and shown the relaxation area. BEST chocolate muffins and hot cocoa in the relaxation room. I could drink that hot cocoa my whole life, it's like liquid gold. Had Edmund for my massage, he was very attentive and adjusted pressure, table temperature, and draping for my comfort. We weren't even going to get a pedicure next time we come, but this has been out of this world. When she was done i felt like complete jelly! I've been there twice for mani/pedi's which were very nice and would have been very relaxing except that they are the only spa I have ever been to that does not endorse silencing of cell phones. Nothing is more annoying than being subjected to listening to someone else's conversation while they have their phone on speaker mode! Or someone else receiving text after text. She was somewhat rude and told us too much about how she worked on the US olympic team and how she had 40 recommendation letters. Group of 5 females approx 30 years old. Made appt initially at Hotel Hershey but then opted to change to Melt Spa approx a month in advance. Emails stated to arrive 15 mins early ahead of appt. We arrived at exact appt time (not 15 mins ahead) given we unfortunately did not read email correctly and hit traffic as well, which we accept responsibility for. However, when we arrived we were not told our massages would be limited or to change quickly and exit as soon as possible. Our 50 minute massages started at 11:50 as opposed to 11:30 by the time we got changed and ended after 30 minutes (original end time) but we were not informed this would happen. 2/5 did not have their legs massaged. 1/5 wasn't asked at all if pressure was adequate. 3/5 not informed masks could be removed if vaccinated. 4/5 not offered a towel at completion if they wished to shower/remove oil. No lounges open (understand if a covid issue). The big issue here is the lack of communication. If they were upfront and told us we arrived late so to change fast as our massages would end at exactly 12:20 we would have understood and could have picked what areas to skip. We were not told and when we expressed our frustration at the end at check out, we were brushed off and ignored. Overall a poor experience at what should have been an excellent, Hershey opened Spa. We each drove up to 2.5 hrs to come and will not be back. read more

I came to the Melt Spa about a month ago with my best friend and we each had the scrub service that they no longer offer at the actual Hershey spa. It was very good but different than what we had over it at the original spa. I took my mother here today for a reflexology service. While she said hers was excellent, mine was not. I don't think my masseuse was trained in reflexology. She stuck her thumbs in my foot, never asked how the pressure was and sighed the whole time. I honestly believe my boyfriend does a better job massaging my feet. When we left, no one asked how our services were. Our masseuse ladies were also 10 minutes late and for a 35 minute massage she stopped about 10 minutes early. My appointment was scheduled for 12 o'clock. I was put in my room at 12:10. And the lady was finished with my service at 12:35. For the amount of money that you pay using the Hershey name, I was very disappointed in this experience today. read more

We all got the half day package which included a traditional massage, facial, and pedicure...our time here was AMAZING! The ambience was very relaxing and the staff were super professional and knowledgeable. This was my first time getting a massage and I am happy to say it was the best experience. My mother and sister in law went to the melt spa for the sweet hands and feet manicure/pedicure. The experience was awesome. However all of our manicures chipped by the next day. It has now been 4 days since our appointment and 6 of my fingernails are chipped and 1 toenail. My mom called to complain and was told we would hear from the manager the next day but have not heard anything since. This is frustrating as the day cost each of us around $150. I would not even want them to touch up the nails as it is clearly an issue with their type of polish. We will not be back. My fiancé booked me a half day package at Hershey spa for my birthday. I was so excited to have a day where I could relax somewhere that was peaceful and quiet. The front desk staff were so friendly when I was checking in, and the lady who did my facial was amazing. She has me so relaxed I was almost falling asleep. I left the treatment room feeling so at peace and so happy; but then she took me to the "relaxation room" which was anything but relaxing. I know this isn't entirely the spas fault. There was a group of women in there who were being extremely loud and obnoxious, and though there is a lot of seating the room is so small that there's nowhere you can go to get away from noisy guests. When My masseuse came to get me she seemed very nervous and shy and would not make eye contact. I reached out to shake her hand and it felt like I was shaking an over cooked noodle. At that point I was thinking this would be a very mediocre massage. I was kinda right. The massage was downright PAINFUL. And a traditional Swedish massage shouldn't be that painful. She didn't bother to ask me about pressure or how anything felt throughout the entire service. Needless to say 3 days later I'm still in a lot of pain. And not a sore feeling like you get when you've had a deep tissue massage, it's outright 'I can't even move my neck or back properly' pain. So after leaving the massage room and going back to the relaxation room I was not the least bit relaxed or enjoying myself anymore. Luckily I did get a few minutes of silence to myself before the noisy group of ladies was escorted back into the room. My pedicure however was wonderful, and the only reason I'm even giving this place 2 stars is because of the facial technician, the nail technician, and the wonderful front desk staff. My advice is to just go to the Hershey spa. You are paying so much money for an experience that's mediocre at best. read more

I didn't want to leave this review but I feel like I should- I've been to Melt Spa 3 times now. This last time I had mani/pedi and it was ok. Probably wont be back for that service. I completely understand being charged for certain things-however charging me $18 for gel removal of my nails and me not even approving the charge is not right. I paid when I got there so no I didn't stop at the front desk nor was I told I needed to . I called and talked to a manager which was not helpful because she just kept blaming me! This isn't my first rodeo-customer is always right, right?! The relaxation room- defiantly was not able to relax! People came in after a service and they were loud and rude! There are "Whisper zone" signs for idiots who don't get that its a spa and people are trying to relax! Staff never told them to whisper. Very disappointed in this visit considering the cost of everything and how much money I have already spent there in my other visits!! My friend and I scheduled pedicures together for a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived we were asked to complete paperwork. Once the paperwork was completed they asked us to pay upfront before we even had our pedicures. The woman who handled my paperwork slid it across the counter to her coworker and pointed to something on the bottom of my form. I thought it was odd. She then escorted us to the nail salon. When we got back to the salon my friend and I were separated. We waited for 15 minutes. One nail tech took my friend. I continued to wait for another 10 minutes before my tech came and got me. They made no effort to seat us next to each other. Georgiana (nail tech) asked me if I had gel on my toes. I couldn't recall because it had been 6 weeks or more since I had them done. It was indeed gel. She ended up filing the skin on my big toe till it was almost raw. I ended up finishing after my friend. Later that evening I called and spoke to the Manager about my experience. She seemed apologetic. Two days later I checked my bank statements and I had been charged for my pedicure and removal of my gel polish. When I spoke to the manager there was no mention of me being charged for gel removal. I will NEVER go back there. I get gel pedicures all the time. I've never had to pay a separate charge to have my polish removed. Isn't that part of the pedicure? For the amount I paid for the rose pedicure the end result was not worth it. Services are expensive and mediocre at best. Do they treat all African Americans like this? I'm a physician! I will never ever refer my friends to this awful place. read more

My sisters and I booked a day here in December '17 because the Hershey Spa couldn't accommodate all three of us for a full spa day + there was a Black Friday discount code. First, upon arrival we were asked to fill out paperwork. When my first sister handed in her paperwork, she was immediately asked for an up-front payment for service - no biggie, except for the fact that a group of other ladies was finishing up their services and they were not required to pay until the end of their treatment. These ladies were waiting to pay behind my sister, so we overheard them discussing the services they received. Does the staff here only ask African Americans to pay up front? Next, the young lady who did my mani/pedi cut both my hand and feet and made me bleed. The very expensive manicure also started peeling off the same day and continued to peel off heavily in the following days. The masseuse was friendly but the massage felt rushed and was mediocre at best. The young lady who did the body brushing treatment seemed nice, but that treatment also felt rushed. Finally, my facial felt great but I walked in with clear skin and walked out with large bumps on the side of my face and had several new pimples that night. I warned the person doing the facial that I have sensitive skin and was assured the products were safe. All in all, I would AVOID MELT AND PAY THE MONEY FOR HERSHEY SPA. Even with the discount code applied, these spa services were very expensive and not worth it. My day here barely deserves even 2 stars. read more
