Finally got to visit the Disney Store Limited Time at Garden State Plaza yesterday. I was so excited to finally have a Disney Store again.
The store itself was organized and neat. The cast members were attentive, and you could always find someone to help you. The decorations of the store were also fun and cheery. My almost-4-year old loved them.
The inventory was limited. There was not a lot in toddler sizes. I'm very picky about what I will buy online or in-store, in this case, because I am an annual passholder at Disney World and can get park merchandise at 20% off. I try to only buy stuff that can be purchased at Disney Store. There was almost nothing for adults. That really upset me.
The other thing that got me was the price increase. Being a regular park goer and a frequent shopper online, I know prices of items. Especially items I'm interested in buying. My son has multiple characters from the interactive Toy Story line. Every single figure is $39.99 in the parks AND online. He wanted Zurg at The Disney Store so knowing the price, I picked it up. Except Zurg rang up $44.99 and when I questioned them about the price they told me, "We don't price match because we're a pop-up." Seems to me if they're selling Disney Store merchandise the price should be the same as online and in the Disney parks. I wasn't going to put it back because explaining my principles to a 4 year-old wasn't what I wanted to do, but it didn't sit well with me. Especially since I'm so familiar with the prices of items. read more
