    🐴Colemansville Covered Bridge - 1856🐴

"Look, my dad has a saying - we'll burn that bridge when get to it. OK? You get it? Worry about tomorrow, tomorrow." ― Barry Lyga, Boy Toy Fun way to explore Lancaster County (aka Amish Country) in a treasure hunt of sorts, as there's 27 known covered bridges to find throughout. The search will take you all over and is a fun way to go back thru time as most of this area has remained fairly unchanged. The technologically savvy way to find the bridges is by searching "Lancaster County Covered Bridges" in Google Maps--as this will cause all of the to populate your app. To which you can then use G-Maps to navigate to each one. The more old-skool approach is to download and print a map thru the discoverlancaster.com website (which I have linked here: https://bit.ly/2RuxUi0 ) and navigate your way around. This comes with the added bonus of a fact sheet for each bridge, that includes date built, length and other fun stuff. P.S. I've seen more than the four I have photographed here, but def less than half fwiw...

Lancaster is a wonderful town! I had heard that the county was traditional and conservative, not quite a gay man's dream destination. But the CITY of Lancaster has a different story to tell. I drove down to explore a couple weeks ago and I discovered that while the rest of the country was in a recession, the city of Lancaster experienced a boom. Lots of cute shops along Queen Street--it felt very artsy and friendly people saying hello all over. I felt safe the entire time, even while I went for a night time bike ride. If you're heading to Lancaster, I recommend first stopping by the Visitor Center to meet the friendly folks and get an idea of how to spend your time there. And after that, my own personal recommendations: Prince Street Cafe for breakfast, Isaac's Deli for lunch, House of Clarendon for dessert, and Fenz for dinner! I would still like to go back and experience the nightlife on the weekend. I spent the night on a Wednesday, so I was not expecting much. I stopped by Tally Ho for a second, but it was not very crowded so I cycled onward to the Belvedere which I understand is gay-friendly. I felt perfectly comfortable there--it was karaoke night, but your boy here just decided to watch from my barstool rather than pick up the mic and make a fool out of myself! Finally, I had the most comfortable night's stay at the Lancaster Arts Hotel. They treated me like gold, very friendly. They even came by with a rose and some chocolate. How did they know? Two of my favorite things! If any of my friends ever want to take a road trip to Lancaster, holla! I will gladly come along for the ride! :D

We were blown away as we drove in the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center. It opened in April…read more2008, is meticulously clean and impeccably maintained. The building's thoughtful design really sets the tone for a meaningful visit. They've done an outstanding job sharing the layered stories of the Battle of Gettysburg--why it happened, how it unfolded, and its lasting impact on our nation. Their storytelling truly honors the sacrifices made, weaving history into every exhibit. Staff were exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable. The interactive displays were a highlight--my kids especially loved the miniature cannon where they could "pull the trigger," and the realistic cannon shells you could actually lift to feel their weight. Super engaging! And please, Don't skip the Cyclorama. This massive 360° painting weighs a staggering 8 tons--4 tons of canvas and 4 tons of paint--and it's presented so vividly you feel like you're standing there in the middle of the battlefield. In short, the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center delivers history with clarity, compassion, and creativity. A truly unforgettable visit -- 5 stars all the way!

Also, they are prepared to handle bus loads of people at a time - these guys are pros! Fun fact: Only 5% of people pass the Gettysburg battlefield guide test -- these guys know their stuff! We went in our own one time, and went back with a guide and it was a way better experience. Highly recommend going with a proper guide to really understand Gettysburg!
