A place so nice, my friends once chose this place to meet for lunch. Brand new (relatively speaking now, in 2025-2026), well maintained, bustling. Wide open inside, floor to ceiling. Parking is pretty easy to find and navigate. Gas looked OK for cars, though I bet you the gas off Exit 1 is cheaper. But the truck line? Fuhgeddaboudit. Yeah, trucks, take an exit anywhere else. Only downside of my last visit? Welcome center was closed. Maybe it's the volume of visitors, but they didn't leave state highway maps out to grab, just a bunch of brochures. Small peeve. I was able otherwise to use the restroom (one was closed of the two, still not overcrowded) and refill my water bottle just fine. I've stopped here before as needed, and I'll stop here again. read more

When you are a career politician, from one of the smallest states in the country, they will name the ONE and only rest stop on I-95 in the state in your name. Prior to 2018 it was simply the Delaware Welcome Center. I'm guessing they decided to honor Joe Biden by slapping his name on the place after his long years of dubious service to the country. Anyway, the place has plenty of parking and offers the ubiquitous American style fast food options. There are several shops where you can load up on Delaware inspired tourist trinkets and junk food. The coffee in these places is better than the onsite Starbucks franchise, just my opinion. The bathrooms are filthy and every time I stop here, there is usually one closed for repairs or some other issue. There is outside seating to eat and cleaning staff does make the rounds to wipe the tables. There is plenty of parking. At night this is a popular stop for tractor trailer drivers because it is well lit and policed by the DSP which is a top notch agency by the way. Curiously, there are not many Tesla recharging stations. Maybe that will be addressed soon, or never, or who knows when. The charging stations were all occupied. I'll hold on to my gas powered vehicles for now. In comparison, the Maryland stops further south on I-95 are better. Going north into NJ the rest stops on the turnpike have all been renovated the last few years and offer better options. But I believe the gas prices at the BWC are cheaper than in MD or NJ. read more

Seems Joe Biden is planning for his life after Presidency as a professional greeter at the new Biden Welcome Center on the JFK Memorial Highway (Rt. I-95) in his home state of Delaware. Have to say respectfully, it suits him well. He is a true people person who loves nothing more than a smile and warm handshake, and in depth conversation if he can find someone to appreciate his gift of gab. I know I would enjoy a few minutes with the soon to be former Prez. He has a world of experience in politics and has seen a lot of American history in his more than 50 years of public service. If he has planned it right, he will have an office right there, with comfortable replica of the Oval Office for entertaining guests and conducting interviews. Reservations required, unless you catch him opening the door to welcome you to his new accommodations, when you can have a few seconds for warm salutation and brisk handshake. Must say, he has done an admirable job designing his Welcome Center. It is state of the art, with modern restrooms and a good assortment of fast food outlets as well as the ubiquitous Dunkin for caffeine addicts. Panda Express was a nice change of pace to the Burger King and Pret a Manger choices there. The Beijing Beef, Honey Sesame Chicken and Lo Mein were all acceptable Chino/American options, even if not best of breed. Still, plenty of carbs and protein to send us on our way home after a brief respite, with renewed energy and purpose. We look forward to seeing the President on our next stop there in a few months. We were good in the food department because we made our own tuna sandwiches and brought along our own drinks. This was a good midway rest stop. There were 3 people with spray bottles that appeared to be cleaning tables but I brought my own wipes. After wiping the table and the 2 chairs, the wipes were visibly fifthly. Hopefully, this will acknowledged and they will clean the tables better and clean the chairs intermittently. read more

This place was a mess on the last Sunday before life resumes as normal following New Years. Six fountain beverage stations- not one had Fanta, only one had ice. BK ran out of toys for kids meals but didn't say anything upon handing over the bags of food. I had to walk up and flag someone down. I came up a second time for ketchup. Then a third time (it's not the number of times going up that bothered me it was the employee's attitude each time) for the zesty sauce. He said that's 30 cents and I responded " the kids meal after selecting onion rings, asks you to select zesty sauce or no sauce". His response: did you order chicken nuggets? I replied no and repeated myself. He then told me that was not correct and walked away. I was just shocked and stood there. A manager started walking over and I heard the employee tell him "she said it asks for sauce and I know it doesn't ". He comes over; I explain myself again, the employee is still talking over me saying I'm incorrect but the manager gives me the two sauces. Problem solved. It's been awhile since I experienced this level of frustration anywhere I've visited. I will just keep driving next time and stop either before or after Delaware. read more

The Delaware (Biden) Welcome Center is a popular rest stop for people traveling through the area. We were on our way back from NY and decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat. We didn't know what to expect, but we were about to find out what they had in store for travelers. Commuters driving down Interstate 95 will see the Welcome Center just after crossing the Delaware Memorial Bridge. This is basically where NJ, DE, and PA all filter into one area. Once you pull into the parking lot, you'll see a plethora of parking spaces and a few superchargers for Teslas. To the left is a standalone Starbucks with a gas station nearby. The Welcome Center is on the opposite side of the parking lot. The first thing that peaked my interest was the fact that this place was pretty big. Rest stops vary in size as well as the amenities being offered, but this one seemed to have everything that a traveler would need. When you walk inside, you'll see a small convenience store with some snacks and trinkets. Then, you'll find a large seating area in which plenty of tables were still available. Toward the back of the building is where the fast food restaurants are located. This is where we had an issue. They make you order from a kiosk and then your meal is prepared. The wifi went down several times and the screens kept freezing up as soon as people placed their orders. Some people had their cards charged just before the order was completely submitted, and then their order never got placed. So, the wifi here is hit and miss. It took 15 minutes to try to place our order. It got to the point where they allowed some customers to place their order with an actual human! There are two restrooms in the building. They are located near the exits. There are also a couple of reminders at the exits to remind you to head southbound on the 95 to Baltimore MD. Or you can head northbound to New York. You might need that reminder as you might lose your sense of direction after a long drive. Overall, I can say that The Delaware (Biden) Welcome Center is a great place to stretch your legs out after a long trip. They have everything that you need and I felt safe in the area, given the number of travelers stopping by. The wifi is inconsistent but other than,you will find all of the necessities for busy travelers. read more

Dunkin Donuts had horrible service. Waited 15 minutes for coffee that I never received. They had 2 people working and they was skipping orders. This happened Today December 1 2025 at 8:30 am Never received my refund back because I would have missed my bus. No coffee and no refund. Both women was very rude because I was asking about my order. Okay, I'm from the west coast where the rest stops are truly stops where you use the bathroom, maybe walk your dog in a small patch of a grassy area and if you're lucky, there's a vending machine outside for refreshments. So, I'm always impressed when I'm on the east coast and see that the rest stops are the most welcoming places for drivers. On our way from northern Virginia to Pennsylvania, we stopped by the Biden Welcome Center, a rest stop in Delaware, and color me impressed. The Biden Welcome Center is a huge rest stop area in Delaware. There was a ton of parking, with charging stations. Once I walked inside, I saw that there was a food court with a handful of different eateries, as well as a small store for refreshments. Bathrooms had several stalls that were clean. There was an informational area with plenty of brochures for sight seeing in nearby cities. You won't find this on the west coast, I'll tell ya that much. This is a great stop to visit if you're traveling along the east coast. It's convenient, clean, large, with plenty of options for refreshments and an informational center to help you choose your next adventure. read more

I'm from CA and the rest stops are really just a gas station with a food mart, and that's really it. Visited the Biden Welcome Center on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded. This place is large enough to accommodate large crowds. The fast food options are pretty standard. I purchased items from Auntie Anne's and Carvel. Customer service was good at Auntie Anne's however not so much at Carvel. The men's restroom was adequate as far as cleanliness. There is also a newspaper stand with the usual snacks, drinks and convenience items. Overall a good pit stop for road trips. read more

This is a large and spacious rest stop on I-95 that is impressive. On the plus side, it has lots of parking and is relatively dog-friendly (some grassy areas). In addition, you can find a variety of lunch options (Popeye's, Burger King, Pret-a-Manger, Starbucks) and a 7-11 type of store for snacks. On the minus side, the customer service can be awful. I don't know if the staff workers are irritated by the higher volume of visitors (it was less busy in summer 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic kept more people at home), or perhaps they are short-staffed (like many food service businesses today). I would also skip the gas stations where prices tend to be higher than what you would pay if you exited from I-95 and filled up at a local gas station. It's still a great stop for a quick trip to the restroom and a grab-n-go meal. But please bring your patience if it's crowded (expect some lines). If you expect warm smiles from staff members, however, I would look elsewhere. read more

This is a very clean and convenient rest stop that's located along interstate 95. It's a great place to stop off when making the drive from NY to DC or similar. The welcome center has since been renamed as the "Biden Welcome Center" after former Vice President Joe Biden. The welcome center is large, spacious, and features a good amount of fast casual eateries, souvenirs, and a convenience store. The seating is cafeteria style and there are plenty of places to sit and relax. The restrooms are very clean and aplenty. There's also a small gas station and electric vehicle charging stations here as well. Totally not like the typical rest stops that I'm used to seeing in California. In addition, the welcome center also offers tourist information. It seems like many people stop here, including tour and school buses. I took the Flixbus here and this was our halfway stop. My only complaint is that most of the eateries are fast food shops, but that's understandable given the circumstances. Despite this, I still think that this is a very well maintained rest stop. read more

This isn't a slight against the greatest president of the 2020s (so far). And I understand they are constantly working on upgrading the joint, but this rest stop falls well short of its potential. Don't get me wrong, the location is great. It's a perfect stop on the way from DC to NYC (and beyond) when you realize someone in your group (not naming names) has a weak blatter. And it's a great size, accommodating the throngs of weary travelers who also have spouses with weak blatters. But, it feels like every time we go, 3/4 of the restaurants aren't open. And it's set up like a mall with the restaurants in a food court-like semil-circle, which is great when it's packed, but it looks depressing when it's not. I expected to see my grandma doing laps in her NB orthopedics. And the gas station is on the other side of the plaza, so it's not convenient for drop off, gassing, and pickup. But, the cellphone reception there is really good and it's easy to access going northbound. I would highly recommend it for a quick pit stop, but if you're heading north there are other plazas with better bathrooms, more accessibility, and less foot traffic. read more

Packed on a sunny summer weekend. It was hard to find a good parking spot and there were tons of people. This used to be one of my fave rest stops in the area but dang. Today, it was just off. A couple stores were closed and the men's and women's rooms on the left side were closed. So everyone had to go to the ones on the right. Very crowded and less than ideal. The food places were pretty packed but I did not like my food (Popeyes). Everything was made and sitting around. My chicken was actually dry and not tasty. The mashed potatoes had too much weird stuff in them. Did not like. Even the Coke Zero tasted off. read more

Someone asked me where a dealer can be found. I pretended not to understand. They repeated: Dealer - where? I ran away. Next thing you know I'm writing a Yelp review of a welcome center. Not a fan of highway rest stops. This is why. Gas is more expensive than most places in Delaware. Service here is appalling, some of the servers (cough cough Starbucks) are very rude indeed. Not that I even like Starbucks. Choices are awful (Burger King - yay... not), and the prices of all the places in here are higher than they should be. For example you can pay more for a Starbucks here than at a regular non-highway Starbucks. Lots of bus traffic comes through here, much like your momma's bedroom. Wifi didn't work properly, my lemonade tasted watered down, and the only reason it doesn't get one star is that it's safe to sleep in the parking lot (I would know), and it's kept very clean (like her motor). read more
