I went to Discount Tire on Long Point as I have been using them for probably 30 years. I was experiencing vibration on the right front wheel and my Pirelli tires had 40,000 miles on them and thought it could be separation. Agreed to install 4 new tires, left the store and on freeway had vibration again. The employee handed me the medallion from the left front wheel, did not understand why they had to remove it or why it no longer would stay in the wheel (more later). Had a family member turn hard left to expose the right tie rod, did not see or hear any knocking in the ball joint. Return to store asked them to check and they returned my car said they did not balance properly. Again on freeway and on a trip had serious vibrations. Researched and the CV axle can cause vibration. Had mechanic to check, the CV axles did not show any cause for concern, BUT ON MOVING THE AXLE, the axle nut allowed 1/8" movement, probably 5-6 turns to full tight. He then check my tie rod and that was my problem. Don't expect DISCOUNT TIRE TO IDENTIFY problems with your car, they are only trained to change out tires. I have the alignment checked 6 months prior and they did not report any tie rod either. read more

I go to the one on southside and their customer service is amazing don't even have to walk into the office to get help they come outside to assist you . I walked in without an appointment on Tuesday around 1pm needing help with a tire that keeps losing air. Juan, the Assistant Manager helped diagnose the issue and basically the tire could not be repaired. I had a full size spare in the back so I asked them to put it on as a replacement. I expected this would cost me $50 - $100. About 45 minutes after I walked in, without an appointment, my car was ready to go and they handed me the keys. I asked, what do I owe you? I don't recommend this location at all I rather would go out of my way to drive to the Heights location or even Copperfield and Hwy 6 for better service. Today I went to have two tires replaced on my car and was told it would take 4-5 hrs and would be called once it's done. They never called. I had to call twice to make sure it was ready. When we asked for a receipt before leaving they refused to give us one and said one would be printed after the tire change was completed. They did not give us a receipt with my keys. On top of that when we arrived we noticed my car was not in their parking lot. My car was parked down the road at the local VFW. They didn't even let us know that they had parked my car there or why it was. I feel like I was overcharged for two tire replacement changes. (EDIT: We were indeed overcharged. Because we were given high performance tires for my damn 2013 Mazda 2. My Father is a mechanic himself so he clocked them misleading and over selling us immediately when he reviewed the account activity.) Summary: They had the car for 8 hours. I dropped it at store opening time; they said they would call when ready, since the tires had to be ordered; early afternoon was the approximate time. They never called, so I went around 4:30 pm. The car was ready, but the low tire pressure warning was on, so I had to go back to the store, and it took another 15 minutes to get a reset. Discount Tire has been my go-to tire shop for about 14 years. One of my tires was losing pressure faster than the rest, so I decided to get it checked. I did not have an appointment, but I arrived before the opening at 8:00 AM. The assistant checked all the tires, as they usually do, and informed me that two of my tires were beyond use, and the lugs needed replacement. My tires still had some life in them, as I don't need Discount Tire to tell me when I need to change them. I take my own measurements with a graduated straight hedge. As per the tire manufacturer, Michelin, the depth of the groove should be above 1.6mm. I had more than 3mm. But since I was there, I agreed to replace two tires and the locking lugs. The assistant said they would call when the car would be ready, expecting it to be early afternoon. Around 4:00 PM, not getting a call, I decided to go to the store anyhow. At the store, the assistant handed the key, and apologized for the missed call. The car was parked away from the store, in an overflow parking. I initially could not find it. I noticed it eventually, and when I switched on the ignition, the low tire pressure came on. Went back to the store, not very happy. Someone drove the car to that overflow parking lot, with the low tire pressure on, and just left it for me to find out. It took 15 minutes to one of the tech. to reset the warning. Conclusion: Discount Tire has plenty of customers, so that particular location does not really care for service quality or my patronage. This will have been my last visit. I went to this location after having a blowout on the freeway. The technician that greeted me was great! (Reggie) he took time to analyze my tires after he listened to my concerns, he even pointed out an issue from my last visit at another location. He advised the eta to get my vehicle in/out with new tires. After an issue with another location, Phillip was super helpful with rectifying the problem! I'm leaving 3 stars due to my valve stem cap being lost and no one saying anything about it. I have BMW logo caps and even took pics of each tire before they took my car in. And a picture of the generic valve cap they decided to put on my vehicle after. We trust you all with our cars, to do a great job thoroughly. We work hard and choose to bring our vehicles to you all. This is not the best looking Discount Tire location but it is the one closest to my house. Overall, it's solid service, fair pricing, convenient. They usually have my tires in stock whereas at Costco, I have to order in advance and be notified when the tires arrive. I feel like the cost of lifetime wheel balance, rotations, and other fees have gone up. I bought 2 tires for $250 each, but after all the extras, the total was closer to $700. The employees are super nice and the service is decently quick (way faster than Costco Tire). It took an hour to change out my tires as a walk-in customer whereas at Costco, it's at least 2 hours and that's with an appointment. My only complaints are that the fridge is not stocked with water and the parking area is sketchy and tiny. You can walk to PJ Coffee if you don't want to wait in the waiting area. read more

The manger, Corey , was extremely rude and unprofessional on Friday, December 27th. My electric vehicle died as soon as I pulled to get my air checked due to a message indicating that my back left tire was low. ( possible business for him ) . The young lady that was directly helping me was EXCELLENT and understood that it was not my fault. Her name was ESPE. He made it very clear that it was not good for his business that my vehicle had died in his parking lot. He was also very rude when my tow truck driver showed up which shocked me even more. Went in for a tire patch due to one of the tires leaking air slowly. Made an appt for 5:15 7/22/2022 and when we got there the guy said that it is a safety hazard to patch the tire because the inner wall tread was getting low. While I understood what he meant, I don't think he understood what he was fully saying.
