Apartment complex started charging for Discernity internet, as a lease addendum, 9 days ago. There have been 3 outages so far. Two fairly short, 2-5 minutes. The one tonight started around 7:30 pm. "Support" first said "We are aware of a service outage in your area, and technicians are on site, with building management, working on the problem." I have seen no one "on-site", and building management goes home at 5:30. 7 hours later, still no fix. It appears to me that if the outage happens after 5 or 6 pm, you are out of luck until whenever they come back to work the next day, and organize a repair crew. So far, fairly sus. A monthly fee, paid as part of utilities, etc.paid with the rent. Plus a $14 fee for wired connection to their little wall mounted access point, which is paid directly to Discernity, for the base line package. Their ads say they do not charge a monthly fee for a router...but you have no real use for a router, if you don't pay for the wired connection. Their big "feature", they promote, is fast Upload speeds - which I have seen as fast as 30 Mbps, but, at the same time, it is possible to see Upload speeds faster than the more useful Download speeds. A few days ago, I had 26 Mbps (normally between 90 - 120 Mbps) Download and 30 Mbps Upload. Normally I get good throughput, but there are little periods of time where the speeds are goofy, and I have seen slow speeds (between 40 - 60 Mbps) late, late at night, often. It's only been 9 days, but, so far, not real impressed. read more

thinking of moving into a building with this as the internet provider? just don't. the headache and unreliability are on par with using dial up. This is a mdu (multi dwelling network) style of wi-fi that is contracted to apartment buildings. instead of following the only ethical way to bill for such a service, they are attempting to have a pricing tier based on speed, which is impossible to track. so, the $60 plan is no different than the $130 plan. no, they do not throttle the speed or data usage. it's a complete joke. so you wonder, how are they getting away with this? news flash: they aren't. everyone is aware this is just a way for greedy landlords to try and make money off their tenants charging for an outdated internet service and almost getting away with it. I cannot say enough bad things about this company. Do not believe their paid for positive reviews. 1. WiMAX uplink. This means your entire complex shares a wifi signal to their datacenter for internet. 2. Insecure holding of credit card data. Their customer site (which they don't even host) is built on a blogging platform (Wordpress) typically used for personal blogging. This is the most compromised web serving platform out there 3. Terrible customer service. Just called about the second outage this month - all afternoon because it's been storming and the WiMAX I mentioned above. Their third party contracted customer service rep named Ashley was incredibly rude and hung up the phone on me. Now isn't answering their support line. read more

These can't be real reviews. Let me go over the issues here: - This is not secure internet service, it's service split & shared by the entire building. Meaning, you can control your neighbor's devices and tv. - Speed cannot be guaranteed but they will happily charge you more. This is like dial up, so don't attempt gaming or video conferencing. Not recommended as work from home. - They didn't wire the buildings they are holding hostage with fiber, so calling it high speed is being too nice here. No one on staff with enough knowledge to understand this, either. - Bad billing, no app or even a website to pay directly. Payment processor runs each transaction to a hold, so that $99 ended up holding $297 until it cleared. They also have no plans to change processors, or take alternate payments such as cash, check or Bitcoin. - Have you been on their website? It's shocking for a tech company to have swiped all their text about privacy from free sites leaving the copypasta in. If you read how they say they can do whatever with your data.. yikes! Go look at the text & code - it's clear this is NOT anything but a middle man, who knows what they do with access to your secured data. If your building is in a contract with this company, don't subscribe. It is not worth the headache. check out Starlink on the high end & Firewifi.org for actual usable internet! read more

Great customer service. They always call me after a power outage to see if it's back up and running. Always someone available to take the call even when it is outside the normal business hours. Service can be spotty at times which is why I give 4/5 stars. read more

Great customer service but some weeks, the internet will go out for a few minutes. At first, I thought it was on my end, so I would restart the modem, computer, etc. The momentary lapses have been better the last few months, so kudos to the engineers. read more

I've been with Discernity for quite some time and I've been very pleased. Customer service is quick and responsive and outages are rare. Speeds are very consistent and I love the high upstream bandwidth. read more

Service has been satisfactory thus far. Customer service was responsive when I needed to change billing which was nice. A little overpriced for overall service, but I am in a building where this is the sole provider. read more

This internet service is by far the WORST. I live at Copper Chase Apartments in Greenwood, Indiana. I am supposed to get 15mbps and I have averaged 5mbps for the last 6 months, never been over 10 once. You call to complain and they do NOTHING. I've literally called so much trying to get this fixed they probably all know my name. It's always we will open up a ticket, you'll ask how long it'll take to get fixed and it's always "we're not sure, can't give you a timeframe". They love to blame the router, even if you have an eithernet cord plugged straight into the wall. Then they will try to reset the wall jack, which never works. Then they will send "engineers" out, these guys are clueless. Can't get a refund because you're locked into a lease with your apartment. They truly don't care about you what so ever, you're stuck paying for service thats based on lies. I will be seaking legal counsel over this. Discernity, don't even bother commenting back on this review to apologize. Your apology won't be sincere, it's only for show, don't waste the readers time. read more

Discernity doesn't have server access and apparently has no control over the company that does. Took over four hours and all they can say is "ticket is still open and hasn't been looked at". I asked if there is anything they can do to check on the status and they said they couldn't. All I wanted to do was get my Xbox online. Takes most Internet companies 30 seconds while your on the phone with them but Discernity can't do it in 5 hours. Very disappointed! read more
