This review has been a long time coming. Looking at some of these recent reviews I should have posted this few years earlier. Could have spared others the pain and suffering I've had to deal with. My ALIF surgery took place in July '16. Two-level fusion. Was supposed to be anterior Monday, posterior Tuesday. 2-3 days convalesce. Home by Friday. To make a very long story short, the nerve roots at L-4 / L-5 were literally crushed when the hardware was placed on Day 1. Following day surgery took place as scheduled. Morning of the 3rd day, Dr. Rovner came into my room. I was still nursing the effects of pain meds and anesthesia. He picked up my left foot, asked me to move it. This was the first time we both realized that my left foot "dropped" and was numb. Same of the right side; however that foot had not dropped. He was totally unaware of how and when my injury took place. Imagine that. You wake up with a foot lacking dorsiflexion. Revision surgery took place 6 days later around 9 pm on a Monday night. Not first surgery of the day as priority would require, but last surgery of the day. Long surgery into the night and early next morning. Complications due to a bowel condition caused by more incompetence. Net was lost a lot of blood, required a transfusion and was in serious condition when I was returned to my room around 4 am. I remained in the hospital for 2 more weeks dealing with other complications and finally came home almost 3 weeks after the first surgery. Much more to this story but I'll stop here. I was left with a permanent disability (nerve damage / drop foot) from knee down left side. And nerve damage knee down right side. Months went by with Dr. Rovner continuing to tell me this was a temporary condition and would resolve. Every month for almost 10 months when I arranged for a Nerve Conduction Study (on my initiative, not Dr's) revealing permanent damage. Surgeon's make mistakes. I understand. This surgeon was a friend and golf buddy. I expected better care. Had he known the hardware was improperly placed on the nerve root (diameter of a pencil) before he closed on the first day, he could have removed that hardware and the injured nerve would have been able to repair itself without permanent damage. I've worked HARD to rehab myself in the gym, the pool and treadmill. No thanks to Dr. Rovner who only gave me prescription for PT when I asked for it. Other great Doctors have helped me along the way; Dr. K. Sachdeva, Dr. N. Malani, Dr. H. Sokoloff (deceased) and Dr. P. Yee. I probably wouldn't be on my feet were it not for the efforts of Dr. Sokoloff I have had a number of complications arising since affecting my balance. Also diagnosed with PTSD. But I'm still working hard. Still playing golf (have to wear an AFO / brace) for all physical activity. All of my physical activities have been hampered. Can't even kick the soccer ball around with my Grandchildren. Needless to say I rate this practice 1 star. I'd rate them a ZERO if I could. Incompetence compounded by more incompetence. Am I bitter, of course. Would you be?

The wait for my appointment was unsavory. Waited 45 min past my scheduled time to see the doctor. Dr Talwar was quick and informative. Overall, would recommend this place for your spinal needs...

Oh well, the rods became detached -- better luck next time with your surgery!

"My" (although I've heard she sees other patients, too!) physical therapist, Julie, is the first therapist that seems to "get" that a PT program is useless if it overloads the patient such that they just won't practice it at home between appointments. She's the first therapist who I feel has heard ME and structured the number of reps and duration of the exercises to what I'M capable of following through with on a regular basis rather than taking a page out of some book and assigning "what they say is appropriate for my condition." So even when I "flake" and don't do my exercises for up to a few days in a row (yes, I admit I'm far from perfect), I always know that when I decide to go back to them, it won't be torture and I WILL be able to do them--and so I always end up getting back "into the groove" (which has not been the case at my other PT places up here, where I would just get discouraged and give up). The ladies at the front desk are all very bright, friendly and kind. When I get their VM, I can text them, or they call me back within a reasonable length of time. I'm (obviously) very pleased with SRVPT, and I highly recommend them.

I had recently undergone back surgery and mentioned that my leg had been hurting. Even though I was there for my hip, Dr. Feng immediately took the concern seriously. He stopped what he was doing, performed a thorough examination of both of my legs, and told me he was concerned I might have blood clots. He sent me directly to the hospital for testing, where it was confirmed that I had blood clots in both legs. I am incredibly grateful for Dr. Feng's attentiveness, compassion, and professionalism. His willingness to listen carefully and go beyond the immediate reason for my visit made all the difference. I truly believe his actions may have saved my life, and I will always be thankful to have had him as my doctor.

So, the poor operator was lied to by their upper management. I feel so sorry for her to have to deliver such news, with no notice to the patient. Their website states he is still there. So I waited all weekend instead of going to the ER/ED. I then was told he was gone. But get this, their website AND phone message states they have Urgent Walk-in Clinic. So, another reason I waited, to go on Monday. But NOPE, THEY CLOSED THIS TOO. BUT STILL ON THEIR WEBSITE. Maybe while you're cancelling doctors, you also get your web team to make the correct changes on your website so people don't delay treatment thinking they are going to see their doctor, or be able to go to Urgent Care. And if this is how they manage their office, imagine how they handle their surguries or injections!! My guess is if their CEO, Steven Hammarstrom, cannot run the practice correctly, you don't want who they hired to touch your body. Stay away. Now I am needing injections, and I have no where to go, no doctor to oversee me. This is a blatant lack of care, and if the CEO is a Doctor, he should be ashamed of himself; Steve Hammarstrom I am talking directly to you!

"Extra Stars for being an Engineer!"…read more Believe it or not, this surgeon has a B.S in exercise science, as well as a master's degree in engineering. Medicine + Engineering: it doesn't get any better than that! Yes, there is a wait to see this surgeon, and there's a good reason for it. She is professional and thorough. She's spent a lot of time with me, diagnosing my foot injury. She carefully examined my foot, checked out the x-ray, and showed me the indications on the MRI image. It was sort of like attending a medical school lecture, but cheaper. I had injured my foot in a trail running accident. My podiatrist insisted I go see Dr Andersen. It was well worth the wait. Note that the office is now in Danville--no longer in pleasanton. If you're a good patient, Dr Andersen might give you a notepad shaped like a foot.

You would never guess that a simple fall down two stairs could change your life so desperately. After almost 4 years of being bounced from one doctor to another, I finally found Dr Andersen. By that time? I had seen eight orthopedic surgeons, had 10 x-rays, six MRIs and an EMG (which was probably the most brutal procedure I have had thus far in my life? And I had an 11 pound baby). My ankle was very damaged, nothing was broken, but everything was torn. Due to that, all other physicians basically told me they didn?t want to do surgery because of the nerve damage that had been done and the nerve pain that I was having. I feel blessed that I finally got to a doctor, who acknowledged that I was likely to have nerve pain for the rest of my life but also that putting my ankle back together should be a huge priority! Dr. Andersen explained EVERYTHING! We are 7 months passed the surgery date, and there have been snags? but she has been positive and has explained each step. Amazing Doctor

The office person says "oh we give the Doctor's cell number but they don't call". If the insurance company is making a request to have peer consultation the doctor should have the responsibility to pick up the phone and make a case for the patien's MRI. He is terrible at following through. When I contacted the insurance company, they said the doctor does not return their calls for peer to peer consultations. I would advise not to see this doctor if you are in pain. It's best to find a professional who can focus on your care.

I had rotator cuff surgery performed by Dr. Timmerman a week ago. From what I understand, the tear…read morewas fairly substantial, and it was not automatic that surgery would be able to repair it. Also, from what I understand, including the pictures she showed me, she was successful in reattaching it. Without being an expert on these things, it still seems to me that Dr. Timmerman is an experienced and skilled surgeon. That, of course, is by far and away the most important thing in looking for a surgeon. The reason I am not giving her an unreserved five star rating is the following: In our postoperative visit one week after the surgery, I felt Dr. Timmerman was very rushed. She showed me pictures of the shoulder and the surgery, which I appreciated, but kind of rushed through her explanation of what the pictures represent. As somebody who has zero knowledge or understanding of such things, I really did not understand it all and did not feel comfortable to ask her to repeat her explanations. Nor did she really take time to just sit down and say, "OK, how are you feeling? How is everything ?" I did not come away feeling clear on what I can and cannot do during the entire three months of my recovery period, nor on what the prognosis is for a fairly full recovery of the use of my shoulder. The whole appointment was maybe five minutes and I was asking her questions as she literally had 1 foot out the door of the room. Now I understand that doctors can be very busy, but I really do feel like they have to make time to create an atmosphere in which a patient can feel comfortable asking questions. After all, the recovery period is important. I am not sure how to say this: I appreciate the experience and apparent skill that Dr. Timmerman brings to the table. But as just some older guy who just wants to live out his remaining years being comfortable, active, and as productive as he can, I have to wonder if in the field of sports medicine us older people are sufficiently recognized for who we are.

My experience was very similar to the two other low ratings. I went in for my second appointment,…read moreand she rushed through the appointment. She did not allow me time to ask questions. I left frustrated and forgot the MRI disc. I went back and thought that I might as well try and talk to her and if she couldn't see me then, to make another appointment. The receptionist reluctantly went to ask and Dr. Timmerman yelled that I had told her that my leg hurt 7 times and that she could not address it. I have never had a doctor tell me I need surgery and refuse to answer questions. According to the other reviews, she seems to be a good surgeon, but her patient care has a lot to be desired. If you are okay with blindly letting a surgeon cut into you, this is the doctor for you. If you want information about the process or even alternatives, don't bother going in for an appointment.
