This is a nice little basement country bar that's right underneath Strange Love club or the old China Blue club. The drink specials that are on the weekends before 11 are not bad for Boise standards. The staff here is a hit or miss in regards to quality and friendliness however for the most part the experiences i've had with the staff here are positive. I will say that often times on the weekends, especially on special event nights or when BSU is in session Roddys does get a bit crowded and a bit on the warm side as well due too all the people. This is the only bar in Downtown Boise that has a mechanical bull which generally costs five dollars to ride. While this technically is a country bar they do however tend to mix in some hip pop or top 40 music in the mix. So today I went in with two friends. I wasn't drinking i was simply waiting for them to finish with the toy horse oh what ever they were doing. I was simply waiting at a table for them to finish. Two bouncers came to me harriesed me told me they were trained to know when someone had to much to drink (even though I didn't drink) manhandled and assaulted me even when I was shouting "I have a physical disability please show down" and throw me outside. All I was doing was waiting for my friends to finish having fun. I should press charges but I don't have the energy for that hassle. I am currently in the emergency room because my sister dislocated her knee dancing. Unfortunately she was born with a birth defect that causes her knees to dislocate sometimes. When she was dancing it had happened. She was in severe pain and the security didn't care. We just wanted to wait until our ride was there. I understand the situation and that the bar was closing. I wish more people would have compassion so unfortunately we will not be back. read more

Never had too much of an issue here but the manager/staff here are not reliable or helpful at all. My friend got kicked out because the manager saw her knock over a drink off a table, mind you, the table is broken and unsteady to begin with, so it wasn't even her fault and the manager "saw on video" and decided she was too drunk and got kicked out. read more

This was the only bar we passed in downtown Boise that had a PLATOON of jacked-up security guards. Immediately wondered what the deal was. Dirty Little Roddy's is a delightful jackbag dive bar. Mechanical bull? YES. Stripper pole? YES. Giant fridge full of Bud products? YES! Many bottles of Fireball on-display? YES! Convinced all of my co-workers and travel companions to ride the Mechanical Bull. That alone made a 2-week trip worth the while. Dirty Little Roddy's is the seediest bar in downtown Boise but it has a ton of heart and soul. Highly recommended. read more

One of the worst places I have ever been to. The bar is OVER crowded with people! There is no limit to how many people they let in. The music is SO LOUD that you can't even have a conversation with someone else. The DJ could be nice and turn down the music and I bet people would still have fun! Instead my ear drums hurt from the super loud music. The music that was played was ok to listen to but the music was too loud!! I didn't have any fun because the music was super loud! i have been coming here for years haven't had a problem until recently. my roommate got upset and stormed off and i tried to grab her. and the security forcefully grabbed me and kicked me out. i didn't know where or what happened to my roommate when all i was trying to do was make sure she was okay. the male workers here have extreme anger issues and will take their aggression out on any woman possible. don't go here. the music sucks too. my friend was also drugged here. not a safe place for a woman. be careful when coming here. they do not care about your safety. read more

Disappointed in bar service. Not nice people. They try to take advantage of you when paying. They will add a $2 tip on a $3 drink hoping you don't notice and walk away for you to sign it. I didn't have that much alcohol in my system therefore I noticed 2 different bar tenders doing that. I always tip but after them trying to trick me it was hard to want to. I've always loved this place and have been coming for years but came in on 9/30 at 9:50 pm and they ran my card for 8 dollars and I tipped in cash. Then come to find out on my bank statement they tipped themselves 2 dollars on my credit card. I even have the receipt to prove it. I was in town for my friends birthday and we were having a great time in Boise, ID. Bars were great (Silly Burch, Tom Grainy's, Humpin Hannah's, the whiskey bar, etc.), but my sober friend tripped over a curb before getting in line at Dirty Little Roddy's and when we approached security at the front of the line they wouldn't let us in because the owner said because our friend tripped we were all too drunk and we couldn't come into the bar. This is my first time in Boise and it really sucks that this was my first experience in a bar here, but next time I really recommend any other bar in Boise because you won't feel judged, humiliated, or slut shamed... but if you want to really feel these three things for sure go to Dirty Little Roddy's (it won't disappoint on these fronts). read more

This bar is okay. I prefer going early before they get crazy busy. When you go early you can actually talk to the bartenders, and have room to walk around and mingle. The people working there are very friendly and willing to make your experience fun. The one thing I wish the owners would do is fix up the place. Make it seem more like a country bar and make it feel clean. I still go, but I wish it had a new clean look. read more
